  1. Having issues with the brushes and my intuos wacom tablet. the curves come out choppy, and the flow of the brush on screen its weird. don't want to compare but I've tried other softwares for drawing and the tablet works fine.
  2. I can't drawing with brush in this program because when I draw my cartoon it transform to Text. such as I draw circle it transform >>> to O text. How can I fix this problem? Thank you.
  3. Inspired by some guys who show their impressive cars in this forum; pure vector, without pixel persona. A lot of work, but it's fun to work with AD ;)
  4. Hi humans I've just recently purchased affinity photo. I've never used any sort of photo editing software in my life. I am trying to separate a very detailed and complex drawing from its paper backround so i can edit from there. Its black ink on white paper. I have attached photos of the drawings to better understand. I have watched plenty of videos which explain how to do it in photoshop, but none in Affinity Photo. I started watching the tutorials that are supplied by Affinity, however, I am not aware of which tutorials would specifically benefit me for this project. from what i understand, a lot of the work done should involve masking, white and black adjustments etc.. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I have little to no idea on how to go about this 001.bmp 002.bmp
  5. Sorry but this is important to me. I know this feature has been requested before. But I have a reason to repeat this: I love Affinity Designer. Except for its lack of brush smoothing that drives me crazy. Meaning: when drawing w/ a Wacom tablet, the strokes are all wiggly and wobbly. Can we fix this? I'm willing to do whatever it takes, so that people around the world using your product can have this feature. Hire me for $10/month to do this. Autodesk Graphic (formerly iDraw) has it. Illustrator has it. Functioning brush tool is quite basic feature of a vector drawing program. I know you have priorities. I know you can't do everything at once. I know you have an existing feature roadmap. But this feature has been requested time after time, starting from 2014. Please get it done. Again, if I need to work on it for free or for a coffee, I'm ready to do it. Let's get this done. I'm 100% serious. Contact me anytime, and I'll jump working on this on a 24 hours notice. You have help. You have demand for this feature – guys, it's time. Let's get this feature on Affinity Designer. Waiting for your reply.
  6. I am not very fond of vectors, but had to try it out to test Designer, that will (probably) be one of my main design programs from now on. Still, I will keep to bitmaps most of the time. Here is my very first, simple, but still, all vector drawn, illustration.
  7. From the archive: Drawing a film scene from the movie "In The Mood Of Love" by Wong Kar-Wai, watercolor and oil chalk pencils. Doesn't have much to do with Affinity, sorry. B) I just wanted to show it once, thanks (affinity forum) that's possible here. :) http://b-bertuleit.de/in-the-mood/
  8. Hi there. I've just started trying out the affinity photo beta. I'm impressed, but I've noticed a strange behaviour. On using the brushes, when I start a stroke right on top of another stroke, I can only effect the pixels that were effected by the first stroke. This is very peculiar. Is there a way to turn it off? Thanks! Edit: nvm, figured it out! As you were.
  9. This illustration was a work for a(n) sci fi / fantasy book cover (graphics tablet). http://b-bertuleit.de/illustration-dino-planet/
  10. I'm trying out some basic shape stuff in Designer for Windows and I'm unable to Add a straight Pen line and a rectangle together (I'm trying to create a drip effect). However whenever I select both the rectangle and the line and try to Add them together the line disappears. Same thing happens when I attempt to combine them as well. I've tried shifting the layer order around and still nothing. I've attached an image to show where I am at the moment and what I'm trying to achieve. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey folks! I would like to know if there is a way to draw lines in Affinity Photo. With the Paint Brush Tool, there is a "continue last stroke" feature, but it's not really creating a line, since it paints over the last stroke when using lower opacities: Also, it's impossible to draw horizontal or vertical lines that way... Thanks in advance for your help, best regards, Rorando
  12. Hey folks, I am in a situation where I wanted to correct an image. For this, I needed a tool to just paint one pixel in a certain color. When I selected the paint brush tool, changed width to 1px, opacity and hardness to 100%, Affinity Photo still created a "smooth dot". So my chosen color "black" became gray and had a few gradient pixels around it etc. example: How can I just draw a single pixel in a desired color? Thanks in advance and best regards! Rorando
  13. I'm considering retiring Photoshop CS4 in favour of Affinity Photo when it's released for Windows, hence why I'm here, but am curious how far Affinity Photo's tools stretch for digital drawing/painting too? Although I'm not new to image editing, one thing that has recently started to peak my interest is digital drawing/painting. However, as it's something that I haven't paid much attention to before, I am a complete newbie when it comes to that. As an example, here's a video of an artist who used Photoshop for a long time, but recently started using Manga Studio (now called Clip Studio Paint) for drawing due to it's better drawing brushes, etc.. The brushes he seems to use most often are pencils for sketching (5:15 & 10:35), G-pen for inking (12:00) and transparent watercolour for blending/shading (15:42). Here they are in real-life use (Note: Link may or may not be safe for work depending what country you live in). I assume Affinity Photo contains brushes that are capable of producing good results for sketching and blending. However the Manga Studio brushes also seem to have brush stabilisation and the G-pen seems to have a mode to use it as a vector brush. Do the Affinity Photo brushes have stabilisation and a vector brush tool (or are there any plans to introduce them)? A quick search brought up the following posts, which seem to suggest no? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/7617-stabilise-brush-strokes-and-faulty-brush-settings/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10152-brush-stabilizer/
  14. Self portrait done in Affinity Photo, with default drawing brushes, a bit of Daub's gouache brushes, and a smattering of fine texture on top. Currently using AP for a big client illustration project—it's been a joy to use.
  15. Another strange thing has happened several times. Today i was able to reproduce it and remember the steps i have taken. The drawing is completely messed up after moving the rectangle arround. First i drawed a cog, filled it and gave it a stroke. Then i drawed a rectange, filled it and gave it a stroke. When i moved the rectangele arround, suddenly the drawing was messed up (as shown in the attached screenshot). When i move the parts of this messed up drawing, i can see the correct forms. When i release the mouse button, the drawing is messed up again.
  16. Portrait (vector illustration), using some self made brushes in AD (hair).
  17. Fun with strokes and blending modes :)
  18. Is it just me, or is the brush engine in AP some way behind that in Photoshop? Most of the time I'm editing photos, so drawing features don't bother me that much but occasionally I'll find myself in the mood for some digital doodling. I've tried AP's own brushes and also imported some custom brushes (which simulate 'real' pencils, a variety from 2H to 2B) from Photoshop but I can't get anything like the same smoothness of line in AP. I've tried both my Wacom tablet and mouse, but makes no difference. Now, I understand perfectly that this kind of thing is going to be far from a priority but just wondered what others were experiencing. I did try searching and found a few users who reckoned it was an issue with Wacom support, but even with a mouse (not something I'd want to use for any length of time when drawing, obviously) the results are nothing like PS. Other than that, outstanding piece of software. Top marks to all those developing this amazing tool.
  19. Just a few things I have been doing with Affinity Designer so far. I have been using it every day for my daily illustrations to a newspaper in Finland - Hufvudstadsbladet - but I cannot wait until they will release the iOS-version so I can use it on my recent purchase; the iPad Pro with Pencil. You ain't seen nuthin' yet:) This first one is the cover of an economic magazine. Many of figures in this was used in other illustrations throughout the magazine, so AD works perfect this way, too, for a n00bie such as I:) Next one up is a flyer I designed for my brother who works as a wildlife guide up in the arctic part of Norway. With AD it was a piece of cake to throw this together... The next two are examples of the daily illustrations I do for Hufvudstadsbladet...

  22. I tried to do a more textured drawing. Not sure I will dig more into this way but making my own brush was cool ^^ Still a little bit disappointed by AP instability :S But I'm sure that'll be fixed in further version :) And Happy new year to everyone! And thanks again Serif's folks :)
  23. Portrait drawing, oil crayons, acrylics; NOT edited with AP, simply photographed. :o ;) :) http://b-bertuleit.de/helena/
