  1. Looking for a compatible drawing monitor to use with Affinity. It looks like the Wacom monitors are compatible, but I'm looking for something a little bit cheaper in price. Any suggestions?
  2. Hello everyone, I've posted a topic in Question area, discussing about the brush tool. It seems Affinity Photo couldn't handle pressure control very well. When drawing a line in Affinity Photo with a tablet, it always ends like a tadpole, like in picture one. What I expect is a line that have a fade off at the end, like picture two, is a screenshot from Clip Studio Paint. I'm not sure if it's the problem of brush tool or the problem of pressure control of the software, but I really hope Affinity Photo could add that kind of feature, as it's labeled "Professional Paint, Sketch, and Texture Tools".
  3. Just wanted to share with you something i've been doing with Affinity Designer recently. I'm in love with black and white these lightless winter days...
  4. Is Affinity photo a good software for painting and drawing? In the Affinity site it's all about photography.
  5. Hey Folks, this is my first attempt at using affinity designer. I really love drawing in vectors, all my works are 100% (pure) vector illustrations, and now I'm glad I found AD - an awesome tool … think we're getting married ;)
  6. Hello to everybody in the Affinity forum I'm sharing with You vector illustration of Mario Balotelli, the star of football now playing in OGC Nice club. Can illustrate people in hundreds different way I think, this is my own way... The drawing was done in Affinity Designer, only the background and the OGC Nice logo are raster images. Every comment is welcome, reply with your avatar or people drawings, opinions. Below a detail. The full project on behance
  7. Hey I'm new on Affinity, I used to work on Adobe. I'm not an english native speaker so I hope my explainations are clear... I used to draw on Illustrator. In this software when you draw a shape with the pencil tool, then you can select it and draw "over" the line to refine it, or extend it. In affinity designer if I draw a curve with the pencil tool above an other curve it creates a new curve, it doesn't change the old one... I don't know if you see what I mean... Is there an option to change that ? Thank you!
  8. Hello to You all, This is my last vectorial drawing. Realistic vectorial drawing, done using Affinity Designer. I'm really excited with the results, see below. How to draw realistic objects (this case a headphones) with Affinity Designer. Step by step the full project here on behance Best regards Francky
  9. Affinity Designer Trial 1.5.3.69, Affinity Photo Trial 1.5.2.69 The bitmap brush engine in both programs renders hand drawn lines with very low quality - lines are not smooth, they end up faceted/broken no matter the drawing style or brush settings. Sadly this is not adequate even for basic sketching. I am sorry to say that but this is the worst I have seen. The last picture is from OpenCanvas - line rendering in OC is very good. This is how it should be done at the very least. Even Photoshop (an all around app not specialized in sketching) has always done an adequate job in this regard. One of the best rendered lines I have seen were in Autodesk Sketchbook (and of course Studio Tools/Alias). But since even inexpensive Sketchbook went rental-only I have lost interest in the software. Sorry if this has already been talked about and put on the roadmap. I did a quick search and didn't see any thread mentioning this issue. With high quality bitmap brush engine Affinity apps would become much more versatile.
  10. Hello everybody! As some of you may have noticed I haven’t uploaded any tutorials recently to www.frankentoon.com and all I can say in my defense is that this quarter has been crazy… the Frankentoon project has opened great opportunities for freelance work and I’ve been working over dreadful deadlines the last couple of months. The original goal of the website was not getting freelance work for me, but to offer simple, funny and easy-to-follow character design tutorials for Affinity users. And I really want to make more of those! In order to keep moving towards that goal, I’ve been re-structuring the way I’m managing the site. I’ll be offering some digital products in my store, so hopefully, I won’t have to rely that much on freelance work and this way I’ll have more time for writing free tutorials… which takes me to our main subject… Tutorials. This is a PARTIAL list of tutorials for 2017: Giving life to your pencil drawings with Designer Creating a video game Hero Creating a video game Villain/Boss Saving time with Adjustment Layers Comic-Style Inking with Designer Background Design: A Magical Forest Background Design: The Castle of Darkness Character Design: Pinup Girls Sketching with Affinity Designer and Pixel Persona Character Design: A Creature from Outer Space All of them sound interesting for me, but what really matter is what do YOU think. Do you find these topics interesting enough? Whats missing? What would you add to that list? What do you want to learn? What makes you struggle the most about learning Affinity Designer ? I’m still fine-tuning the plan for the first quarter of 2017, so I’ll be taking suggestions until Dec 15th. Thank you all in advance! Cheers!
  11. New vector drawing: Julee (Affinity Designer) http://b-bertuleit.de/julee/
  12. Hello, A few weeks ago I got myself a new Surface Book and Affinity Photo. I wanted to test how good the touch screen works and I started drawing something. But I could not do that properly because everytime I put down my hand whilest drawing it started painting underneath my handpalm. In Windows I found the option to ignore touch input, whilest the pen is beeing used, but if I lift the pen too high the same problem occures. Now I wanted to ask the Affinity Team if they have a solution to this problem, maybe theres a option to ignore touch input and only accept the pen. Yours faithfully, Lukas.K
  13. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy using the affinity designer software. To show my "affinity" to the software, I would like to share a tutorial video that I made turning my hand sketch into a vector drawing :D: https://youtu.be/UDVuI0BPFgo Hope you guys like it and let me know what you think. Thanks, Mike
  14. So far I had only used AP for photo editing on my iPad Pro, but finally got around to draw and paint in it yesterday, and I was enthusiastic! This was as close to draw on paper as one can get on a screen, I thought. Better than Procreate even, which I’ve been using for my daily work since I bought the iPad Pro when it first came out - but I was disappointed today and had to give up on it and shared the drawing I had started with Procreate and finished it there. What went wrong? Well, it started to lag. The line was dragging several millimetres behind the tip of Pencil and it made it impossible to draw with quick strokes as is my manner. There is still plenty of space on the iPad, more than 80 gb out of 128 and the drawing wasn’t that large, either. So, anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix? I’ll attach a short screen recording which shows what happens. ADFC4E31-3A27-4ED0-97C2-A065AF00998F.MP4 The screen recording didn’t play on my iPad at least so I attach a screenshot, too.
  15. Hello, is anybody here to explain, how to create a portrait style like this from any picture (portrait)? I would like to create vector graphics like this (see below) Also helpful could be a auto tracer software, but not with a monthly subscription Thanks for any hint, tipp ...
  16. Another illustration trying the latest beta. More details and thoughts on it in my Behance portfolio. https://www.behance.net/gallery/31578563/1957-Chevy-Corvette-Roadster-Affinity-D-Vectors
  17. A vector cartoon drawing using affinity designer
  18. Pen latency has been on my mind since the new Surface Pro and iPad Pro were announced. I enjoy drawing in Affinity Designer with the brush tool, and I really like some of the fancier brushes, but the appearance of new lines always lags behind my drawing pretty drastically. When using elaborate brushes, would it be practical for Affinity Designer to draw a plain, unstyled line under the stylus immediately and then draw the fancy brush version over it?
  19. I am trying to simplify complex illustrations into their basic line forms...what is the best way to do that using Affinity?
  20. I think about something similar to Corel LiveSketch in Affinity Designer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYdxHxdl7EI I can find video but in Illustator was similar function (probably CS6, other version - I don't know). When you drawing line you can adjust his shape by drawing part of them again. In short: fx. you're drawing curvy line. Next you are adjusting this by drawing them few times on tablet. If you're drawing some part not stright line but more similar to circle line is changing in real time to more curved. It could be alternative to pentool and make sketching for some people easier. For me more natural is use few shorts lines to make one longer. (Of course this functionality don't replace talent, but this idea looks interesting as extension of Bezier curves etc.).
  21. Will a toggle for outline view for layers be available in 1.6? This is pretty vital for tracing.
  22. I need the ability to draw across multiple artboards. Currently, even if I arrange artboards next to each other, when I draw a shape across two or more artboards I can only see the part of the shape that fits in the artboard the shape was started in. The same thing happens with text. In the picture I am including I drew a rectangle across two artboards but it only shows on one. I also wrote test across two artboards but it also shows on only one. I am also requesting a way to set up the spacing vertically and horizontally between two or more artboards. For example, set the artboards to be right next to each other at 0" or to be separated by a specific value such as .5" or 3pxls or anything like that.
  23. I've been learning how to draw and besides drawing circles and lines, I was researching how to build environments. I couldn't think of anything better than drawing Fuji. Fuji(s), actually. This is my 4th attempt, using APhoto + Astropad Studio + iPPxPencil Loved to create stars via Noise filtered through Threshold, as well as blurring the fog. What do you think?
  24. (super)Quick intro: I've been using a.Photo and a.Designer for about 2 years and I'm in love with the apps. I am a web designer who can't draw a thing. I bought iPad Pro, Pencil, and (ordinary) paper, pencil and fine-liners (am I calling it right?) I've been fascinated by artists all around the world and I am diving into the process of learning and practicing my drawing skills. I call it.. (wait for it).. The Incredible Drawing Adventure Here's a quick video where I talk about software (with a timestamp for Affinity Photo), and yeah, if you feel like it — let's do it! https://youtu.be/h0kEFL5Ccps?t=1m20s
  25. Hi there, I'm trying to create a simple speech box with a dragged out triangle for the "Speech" bit, so I've basically got a rectangle with a triangle attached - how do I get rid of the line where the two join so I have effectively one image with a bit blown out a bit in a triangle shape rather than what looks like two shapes stuck together?
