  1. Every time I try to develop a raw file in Affinity Photo the standard result is always opaque and desaturated while from MAc preview the pictures is ok and quite realist for tone and saturation. I take pictures in my "studio", manual setting and adjusting white balance with a grey card. I attach the 2 examples Am I doing something wrong?
  2. Lets say I want to develop 5 RAW files. They require all the same develop settings like white balance, curve adjustment, pre sharpening and lens corrections, to mention just a few. Is there an easy way or do I have to make 4 separate presets in the Basic, Tones, Detail and Lens tab?
  3. It should be possible to apply the same settings of the develop persona when importing a set of RAW images. Saving the settings, loading the photos one-by-one and loading the settings every time is too time consuming. In Photoshop Elements this is no problem! Please refer to this thread:
  4. When using RAW images as a source for HDR, Panorama, Focus Merging, it shoud be possible to adjust the settings of Develop Persona. Currently the photos are imported without being able to do this. Please also refer to the threads above.
  5. Hello, I miss option to move/shift image in lens correction options of develop persona. When I fix rotation and vertical or horizontal distortions, I want to scale image up as less as possible to remove empty areas caused by corrections. And when I scale the image, it can't be moved relative to canvas. Something like shift-x, shift-y would be nice to have. Miro
  6. Im currently working on and iMac with 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 12 GB of Ram, Mountain Lion. Loading, developing and editing Raw files seems to take longer it should. Is there a way to smooth out the process with ram usage in the preference menu? I tried messing around with it but no result, Tone mapping and HDR seems to be a really slow process as well
  7. Hi, I see that I individual presets for Basic, Lens, Details, and Tones can be saved. I wonder if there is some way to save a single preset for all of them. Thanks!
  8. If you increase the brightness to the max (25%) in develop mode, the beta barely brightens whereas the release version brightens much more I showed the last beta but it is the same in 1.6.0.83)
  9. Hi everyone! First i’m loving Affinity Photo and am amazed at what i can do with it. One thing that bugs me though is figuring out the workflow from multiple raw files to end photo. I shoot mostly portraits so lighting circumstances are the same for multiple photos at a time. I basically have 2 things i’m wondering about depending on what is possible. Is it possible to apply the develop persona settings to multiple raw files? I believe you can do that with the desktop version by saving it as some sort of preset. I would love to know if this is at all possible on the iPad version. Otherwise feature request Another route would be to use Lightroom for the developing proces and then exporting it to cloud storage. I’ve tried tiff files but that generates 150 MB files from 25 MB raw files (exported as 16bit). Also tried jpegs but would prefer a file type without compression/data loss. Next thing i’ll Try is DNG. I would love to here your thoughts and suggestions! Thanks.
  10. I have a problem by using the Shadow and Highlight sliders of the Develop Persona. Please compare the two results. The only thing I tweaked have been the Highlight slider to -100% and the Shadow slider to +100%. All other switches set to OFF/Unchecked, in Camera Raw and also in Develop Persona. The only exception was the usage of the Camera Colour Profile "Neutral" the RAW file offers (not available in Develop Persona), but this only affects subtle the colours. Camera Raw also applied the automatic lens correction profile, which is also not recognised by Develop Persona. Everything else was disabled (sharpening, denoise, etc.). Please see attached results. The one on Develop Persona is unfortunately much worse than the one of Camera Raw/Lightroom. I also attach the RAW file. I am very keen on your reply to this, and I really appreciate in advance. Hey guys, there is a problem on upload of Lightroom/Camera Raw generated JPGs to Affinity Forum sites, this error only occurs if I want to upload the Adobe generated JPG sample: Best regards, Roland RAW File: DSC00644.ARW Camera Raw Output attached as Zip: DSC00644-CameraRaw.jpg.zip
  11. Hi, I love the software, but miss some crutches I often use in other software. I think it would be convenient to have a few preset white balance settings in a drop down menu in develop persona. E.g. As shot - Sunny - cloudy - shade etc. that usually helps in finding a good starting point for wb. I guess it would be great if demanding individual users could tweak these to account for their specific cameras, but for me that doesn't seem necessary. At least, rawtherapee works for me perfectly this way. Thanks. Wouter
  12. When working in the Develop Persona, I would like the image of a distant bird to fill the screen. I have always used Crop in Apple Photos to accomplish this. In AP, what would be the difference between Scale or Crop to accomplish this?
  13. Hi, Would it be possible to shed some light on this for me. When I load a sequence of files (not Batch Processing) ....e.g. SR_3122, SR_3123, SR_3124, SR_3125, SR_3126 into the interface to Develop, having 5 files open, the files are not displayed in order. Instead of being in numerical order from left to right across the interface, it seems to be random, first file on the left would be say SR_3123, then SR_3126, SR_3124, then SR_3122 and SR_3125. Many Thanks Simon R
  14. In Develop Persona, when using Split Screen in the Details Studio the image is larger in the After side than in the Before size. For me, this makes it harder to evaluate subtle changes. Is this an oversight or am I missing some advantage to the size difference?
  15. Develop and abort buttons in Raw Persona are small squares only and have no text and no color after opening a raw file. This is to be seen on win 7 Pro as well as win 10 pro. Nevertheless, the buttons work.
  17. Is it possible to make use of macros developing RAW photos in Develop Persona? "Macro" appears in studio only in Photo Persona.
  18. Hey all, Photo continues to ruin my RAW images. I just want to make girl look pretty but as soon as I open an image like this in Photo it just ruins the coloring of her outfit :( Pay attention to her top, it is nice and white on the left image, ruined blue on the right. NO EDITS are made to the right image. Why!?!? Thanks, Shaw
  19. Dear community, I am facing some problems with some RAW files that have high light exposure and get some tendency for the sky to burn out. When I open the RAW file in Affinity Photo develop persona (v.1.5.1 Mac) I get some purple skies I do not get when opening the file with Apple preview or Photoshop. Also the ready made JPEG does not show any purples in the sky. Are there any adjustments that can be done to fix this problem? I am using Panasonic Lumix GX 80 / GX 85 / GX 7 Mark II however it is called in different countries. See the screenshots below in the upper left corner. Thanks !
  20. Hi All! I am new to photo editing in general, so probably a newb question. See attached, when I open various photos like this, that have LED lights, they do not appear as the original. Other photos of LEDs open the same as the original. This is occurring mainly in blues and purples. The raw is a .NEF file directly from a nikon. No edits were made to it. All options are unchecked in all the right hand tabs in develop persona. Please help!
  21. Hello, how can you store in the riders "Simple", "Lens", "Departement" with defaults in a total specification in Develop persona. Is for me important for different cameras / lenses with one "click" an overall development per camera to be able to make and no single specifications use. One possibility would be to realize this via makros, but in Develop Persona macro is not possible. If there is no solution for now, please include in the request. Thanks and greets Dieter
  22. I'd like to raise awareness to an issue that's bothering me (and apparently a few others) for over a month now. At first I hoped that my muscle-memory would get used to it; but a few hundred raw photos later, it's still as annoying as the first day. I'm referring to the way one can exit/quit/cancel development: it's very counter-intuitive. - It's totally understandable that one cannot proceed editing the image, if it hasn't been developed first. - It's also understandable that the adjustments in the develop persona, cannot be retained, unless the image gets developed. here are the quirks and some workarounds: - If develop persona were implemented as a modal, the Esc key should allow one to... escape. - If develop persona is not a modal and is a window/tab then Cmd+W and Cmd+Q should both allow you to close the document just like pressing the Cancel or X button (of the tab). The current message box when pressing Cmd+Q/W, is not meaningful: it's merely stating that you have to click elsewhere to cancel/close/quit. Why all the hoops and loops? This is particularly inconvenient when having dozens of develop personas open and you decide it's time to quit the application (or close them all). What could had been done with Cmd+Q is now mouse gymnastics! You have to close every develop persona individually, with the mouse, before you can quit the application. - The cancel button, and the X button, shouldn't act differently: As it is, the X button never asks for confirmation, whereas Cancel always does! - when you haven't made any adjustment in the develop persona, canceling should not ask for confirmation. It should be performed silently. - The confirmation should be rephrased. The yes no buttons are not very helpful. Yes, I want to cancel? Yes I understand? Yes I want the file saved? Yes I want it developed? If it were a rare occuring dialog, it would be okay to have and read all the text to know the meaning of Yes/No, but I see this dialog more often than I am asked to save a file, and I guess others too; so the buttons have to be as self-explanatory as possible; or the text as short as possible. eg. "Discard Changes?" Yes/No An example (not the most thought out apparently) follows - it shows two self-explanatory options: "Cancel & Discard" and "resume developing". It could had been "Discard Changes" and "do not discard" or it could even had been 3 buttons such as "Discard Changes", "resume"/"return" and "develop and Save as...", but you get my drift: it needs rephrasing. - Pressing the Esc key while the confirmation is displayed, should work (currently it does nothing). Hope this helps :) -Fotis Now that I got it out of the system,I have to say that I've started to really appreciating the Serif raw engine (and its speed) compared to other raw develop options!!!!
  23. Just purchased Affinity Windows version today. Why would the shape or position of the histogram be different when viewed in the Develop Persona compared to the Photo Persona. Attached are two screen dumps, 1) A RAW file just prior to developing, 2) The same image immediately after being developed. I find it difficult to adjust a RAW image due to the positioning of the graph in the Develop Persona. My camera is an Olympic EPM1, the image is an ORF. 2016-12-11_220225.pdf 2016-12-11_220309.pdf
  24. Hi! In Develop Persona most operations like Exposure, Brightness, Contrast etc are very slow. I have wait about 8 to 15 seconds to see effect. Squares of view appears one by one in this time. I noticed this problem since version 1.5.0.42. Earlier I tested version 1.5.0.39 and it was good, much faster. Slawek
  25. Using the up and down arrows or the mouse wheel to adjust the exposure in the Develop Persona results in a change of 1, which is far too coarse to be useful.
