  1. Hi All .i have moved over to Affinity from p/s , and love the programs so far (yes i brought both) , was wondering in designer can anyone provide me the dimensions or setup profile for a trifold pamphlet. Thanks in Advance
  2. Is there an official place to offer feedback on the AD Workbook i.e.. errors, layout issues etc? Cheers.
  3. Can you please add copy-pasting to/from Fontlab to Designer? I can copy/paste from Illustrator, but Fontlab 6 is way better for creating fonts. I can copy/paste from Illustrator to Fontlab and back again, and I can also do the same going between Designer and Illustrator, but it doesn't work between Fontlab and Designer. This is really unfortunate as I'd like to REPLACE Illustrator with Designer, but can't because of this workflow inhibitor. http://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/fontlab-vi/
  4. Got a Lasercutter, Rayjet, Trotec. To Cut and Engrave i need a Vector output from AD. In Corel it works if i use Hairlines in clean RGB Red or Black and if the workspace is the same as the printer workspace. in Serif Draw it works since it support hairlines. All other software like illustrator exports pixelgraphics to the Printer which was ignore by the Laserprinterdriver. Please release Hairlines as Vector output to use it for Lasercutting
  5. I see often pictures like this. As an interface designer I would love to click one button and see my different groups of layers exposed like this. Makes it easier for the workflow between developer and designer. Maybe this function can be adjusted to specific distance between layers, transparency and a main focus layer (no transparency). 6. If I buy Affinity Designer for windows will I then be able to use that licence later on with a different PC, for example on a future upgrade. Obviously I'm not looking to having more than 1 PC registered at the same time, just one after another.
  7. Bonjour, Est ce qu'il y a un moyen de faire fonctionner Affinity Designer sous Mac os X 10.6.8. Car j'ai des fichiers FreeHand que je voudrais transformer pour utiliser Affinity Designer. Merci
  8. The text in the title bar gets cut off if you reduce the Help window to its minimum size. (The same happens, to a lesser extent, in Affinity Photo build 1.5.0.37, but I didn't want to cross-post unnecessarily.)
  9. I use for years the different versions of Serif DrawPlus. I have installed Affinity designer this evening. Although it seems to be nice, I noticed that it seems not possible to open or import files from serif draw plus. If this is really the case, I find that very inconvenient. Furthermore, it seems that the sofware needs a larger time to start than DrawPlus.
  10. Bonjour, Comment peut-on créer une vectorisation d'un format tiff. Automatiquement bien sûr. Merci
  11. Windows Docking feature (working with two window files side by side) · Drop down menu list (one which can be re-ordered) Color swatches added to the tools panel · Pressing "D" to reset to black and white Custom shapes · Method to easily view custom shapes (right click, alt key) · Perspective path Pen Tool · Stroke path option I did a complete review and comparison of the features which I find would be the most useful in the following video. https://youtu.be/230D3R5E0Bw
  12. I follow every update from the beginning of beta, and I am delighted with the fast moving development. You guys are wizards! Can I ask you to do even a little bit of magic in your wonderful app: Aligning to the key object (ctrl+left-click on the object to select it as a key) , and repeat the last transformation (ctrl+d in Illustrator)?
  13. I've requested this once already in the Designer Windows Beta forums, but you really need to add the feature that Photoshop has basically had forever where holding SHIFT automatically constrains brush movement to 45, 90, or 180 degrees. This isn't a "deal breaker" per se for me, but it is absolutely the difference between me telling people, "Yeah, Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo are pretty good, decent products I guess" to "Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo are amazing tools that you're simply a fool if you don't own them." It's just one of those niggling things that makes me sigh every time I try to do it in Designer/Photo and then remember it simply doesn't work. I realize you can do click/release -> SHIFT -> move cursor -> click, and it will automatically do a brush stroke from the first click to the second, but this is not the same functionality as what I'm asking for. I also know you can do box-select, column-select, etc., and it kind of sort of works . . . but it's not the same. There are so many instances where I've used this feature in Photoshop that not having it in Affinity Photo / Affinity Designer feels like driving a car without a speedometer.
  14. Some fonts are incorrectly shown as 'Segoe UI' in the dropdown list and display as Arial when selected. Dingbat font names are still displayed using the font itself instead of something legible (e.g. Segoe UI or Arial). I've annotated the attached screenshot with the names that should appear. MT Extra and MT Symbol are MathType fonts; NWC2STD2, like NWCV15 listed immediately below it, came with NoteWorthy Composer 2 Demo, which I downloaded in the wake of this discussion three months ago. Affinity Photo on Windows beta build 1.5.0.35 exhibits exactly the same problems as Affinity Designer on Windows beta build 1.5.0.35.
  15. Hope affinity designer add the Vector Perspective Transform tool. :)
  16. It's disappointing, that the new Affinity Designer lacks some colour blending modes, which I found very useful in Serif Draw Plus X8: quadratical, 4corner-colour-blending, 3colour-blending, grid. I would like to see them in the new product also. Neither Serif Draw Plus X8 nor Affinity Designer has an option to set transparency to an object evenly. Of cause you can achieve this for example with setting linear transparency and then choosing the same alpha values for start- and endalpha. But if you are experimenting with a range of alpha values to find the best fitting, it would be much more convenient, if you would have an option "set alpha evenly" to change the value for (like you have an option to fill an object with a coulor evenly).
  17. Hello, I have got a simple question concerning the grid system. I would like to create a 12 grid system with margins on an artboard. I found the margin settings of the document and also the grid system which works fine. But how can I set up these 12 grids only within the "type area" and not until the end of the whole artboard? (I am usually a printdesigner but would like to learn more about UI/UX Design). Thank you so much for your help! Best regards
Merci Hello, How can you resize a group of objects on a percentage scale. Example: Objects of 100 mm x 100 mm resize to scale at 99.814% on X and 100% on Y. Important for working in a printing house. Thank you
  19. Xtream Path is one of my favorite plugin in illustrator. With Xtream Path I can easily create curves that fit my scanned scratch. http://www.cvalley.com/products/xtreampath/ I know this tool from Von Glitschka's book. You guys should actually send him a copy of Affinity Designer and hear his comment. http://www.vonglitschka.com http://www.amazon.com/Vector-Basic-Training-Systematic-Precision/dp/0321749596/ref=la_B001JS2HAI_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1410072202&sr=1-1
  20. It is not possible to give a transparency effect (from any direction not uniform) on an object more than once. However, we need to make multiple transparencies on an object.
  21. I have been using Designer to create detailed maps by capturing tiles as screen images then overlaying them (reducing opacity of top layer while aligning). This currently has to be done by drag and drop. In some other Serif applications, this can be done by using the up and down arrows on the transform panel to get a much more accurate placement. This would be a useful additonal feature, and I suspect it would not be too difficult to provide
  22. Hey, I'm creating an organizational chart. (Yeah, I know that's exciting!) And I'm using a TON of backgrounds around labels. And making sure that there's the same amount of padding around each seems to be really difficult. Right now I'm actually unhappy with how it looks so I'm dragging each box in until they're at the edges of the text, and then using the transform box to add .2 inches to the height and width. But I've got like 30 separate boxes to do it to and it's a pain. It'd be great if I could just add some sort of boarder automatically around text, or place the text within a shape like you can do in Pages or Keynote. Also, in general I love Designer, can't wait for the iPad version and can't wait for Publisher!
  23. Hi Affinity Developers, First of all a huge word of thanks for all the efforts and good ideas that went into Affinity Designer. It is really refreshing to have someone make a clean start on a vector drawing program. I think the interface in general is a big improvement over AI. I also really love the way AD handles masks, which I find is a pain in AI. The ability to combine raster and vector in one program is a huge plus, and it's main selling point, I think. AD is still in its early stages of development, so a direct comparison with AI is unfair (also because of the price difference), yet, because I have AI CS5 installed, I still don't use AD as often as I would like. The main reasons for this are the path editing tools and the freehand drawing of vector paths. These two functions are the bread and butter part of any vector drawing program, and AI still handles some things better than AD. Let me elaborate: I think the pen tool is way better than it's equivalent in AI (actually I hate the pen tool in AI!). But I confess that I have the plugin Inkscribe installed and this makes a big difference. This is basically a combination of the pen tool with path editing tools. When comparing inkscribe and ADs Pen & path editing tools there are some things I really miss. The first thing is the way Inkscribe deletes nodes: instead of the curve just falling apart it spreads the load between the next two nodes and attempts to keep the curve intact. This is a BIG deal for me, as it makes cleaning up paths much easier. Also it give the ability to add nodes to the tangent point on a line, so you get handles at 90 and 45 degree angles, which is a great way to make editing paths easier. Overall I think the pen tool is very good in AD, but I miss the ability to snap handles (to the grid, for instance) or constrain them to 45 or 90 degrees, also after this is drawn. This is better in AI and I hope AD will try to replicate this behavior. Something I find one of the most annoying things in AD though is that it is very hard to delete a segment of a line. This should be as easy as clicking on a segment and deleting it. Now I can't really figure out how to do it at all properly, and it needs way to many steps  Another thing that keeps me using illustrator is the freehand drawing tools. IMHO these are still superior to AD at the moment, for the following reasons: Being able to adjust setting for smoothness and accuracy The ability to redraw paths The ability to extend a drawn path the ability to smooth a path the ability to easily connect or close a path These 5 things are lacking in AD, and it makes the pencil tool rather unusable at the moment for me, even if I think the brush engine is much nicer. Another thing I would love to see is a functionality like the Dynamic Sketch plugin for AI. This adds to great features to the regular pencil: a path eraser, which erases up to an intersection, really speeding up a drawing workflow. It also will automatically connect paths in some situations. intelligent path joining, meaning you can draw two intersecting paths and the program creates a connected line from it, this is really great when drawing paths freehand, as you don't have to be to fussy with angles and edges Also the ability to change setting for smoothness and accuracy after the path is drawn is nice. I hope that AD would be able to integrate some of this functionality in its program in the future so I can forget about AI… :P Some other things I would like to see: (mentioned by others as well, this is just my list) Multiple strokes & fills live paint, or an even better way to fill shapes quickly Symmetry tools (like Manga Studio / Sketchbook pro) Artboards and/or pages Knife & Scissors tools I hope this post is not too negative. As I said AD is onto great things and I really hope to see it grow as the best in the business!
  24. Hello Affinity Team, could TGA(with Alpha channel support) please get added as an export option?
