  1. I sometimes write in multiple languages, and when I use a font that doesn't support the language, Designer automatically chooses a similar font that supports the language I'm writing in. Is there a way to know what font Designer has chosen for me?
  2. One thing that I have seen mentioned on facebook groups is the crop tool. Most seem to agree that either 'crop to original ratio' be set as default or the the user be allowed to set the option that fits their workflow best. For me it is original ratio as I rarely use any other setting. Can this be added to the relevant programs?
  3. Hello dere, chér … mais, me, I almost did not saw you dere, but I'm glad for you to see me yeah, I tol’ you dat f’true. Now, what I got to ax is mebbe a simple quextion but me, meh, I do not know dem answer no, me. Oh. What it IS, you aks? Well, I'm glad for you to axe me dat, so … When I use either the Artistic text tool or the Frame text tools, I begin by selecting one, then drawing out a rough-sized text box to put text in. That's when the problem crops up. The BACKGROUND is filled with white and the text is default black. I have no problem with black text, ’cos it's gonna be changed later anyway. The Big Quextion is as follows: How I got rid of dem WHITE BACKGROUND FILL BOX COLOR, hanh? Looking thru the Menu choices produces no clue as to Remove Paper Color, Remove Background Color, or anything else. It has not always been this way - and it happens in Designer and Photo, not just one. Ma chérs, if you know you dem Answer about how to done got rid of dem white Background coleur from dem tex box, I be Returnally Greatfull fo’ dat knowlidge. 4. Crop many digitized photos for playback on TV. Format 16: 9 instead of unrestricted desired as a default setting at start. what to do? Please help.
  5. Ran into another issue brushing up on my AD skills. In this YouTube video from 2018, the default styles pallet isn't the same as now. Does anyone else remember them or know how to get them back? I'd like to use the metal effect.
  6. I think it would be good if when we started to draw our designs, each figure was housed from the beginning within a layer, to start each project in a more orderly way. And I think they could save us the trouble of creating layer 1 ourselves. I think Illustrator does it like this, in the layers panel every new document has always "Layer 1" created by default and then all the shapes that are drawn are stored within that layer. *Also in every "Artboard" created, I think its "Layer 1" should be created automatically.
  7. So, am I doing something wrong, or is the default dpi when the CR.3 file is developed 72???
  8. As I found in this thread, very useful feature of both designer and photo is off by design. And when it's off it works partially, just enough to work as broken. I understand there is group of people who wants this off (I imagine huge imported technical documentation or something like this) But as a user more focused on UI /UX /illustration with quite managable hierarchies I propose to turn on this by default. Just a thought.
  9. How can I set a default font for interior pages so I can easily change to different font? I understand how to set a font per text box, but want a kind of global font so can all be changed in one place. Thank you!
  10. Hello, I've been reorganizing my vector brushes on Affinity Designer and came across an issue. What are the category names of the default Affinity Designer vector brushes? I have too many brush categories, which caused me to lose track of the Affinity Designer vector brushes. It would have been helpful if Affinity had labeled them as AD brushes, for organizational purposes. I found a link to the legacy Affinity Designer brushes, but not to the current default Affinity Designer brush category list. https://affinityspotlight.com/article/get-legacy-affinity-brushes/ Thanks for your help, Sam
  11. We often get asked what the purple lines are that surround some layers – the snapping candidates. The subject comes up a lot and is confusing for some beginners, as evidenced by the number of times it comes up as a question, e.g. today, June 1st, June 5th twice, May 23rd, May 21st, May 18th, May 17th, May 6th, May 5th, May 4th, etc. Would it be better if the applications used a different default Candidates setting so that Candidate List was something that users could find for themselves rather than it being the default? I realise that everyone has different preferences at different times – which is why we get a choice – but having a default which causes such confusion doesn’t seem right to me somehow. I have no personal preference as to what the alternative default would be, only that is probably shouldn’t be this one.
  12. When opening raw files the default setting is with Lens Correction, Chromatic Aberration Reduction and Remove Lens Vignette are toggled on. I get sharper images when these three filters are turned off. Is there way other than creating a preset and having to change every time I open a file?
  13. macos 10.13 Affinity Publisher 1.7.3 is Defaulting as the Default app for video? when/after importing many thousands of video files from professional cinematography cameras, canon, red, etc into macos 10.13 Publisher is defaulting as the application to open the file causing the video to be inoperable? video used to import fine prior to installing Affinity Publisher anyone else having this issue? the video & icon should be defaulting to Quicktime file format & Quicktime icon not Publisher changing the default application in the 'info' window in the Finder does not help any ideas? thank you in advance
  14. How can I change the default value of my device? I have an 11 "ipad but the default device when I create a new document is iPad 9.7", so I have to change the option every time. Thanks, Vittorio
  15. Hi, Something that I find slows down my production is having to reselect my custom brush set (or currently used) brush set every-time I switch from designer or pixel panel. Can it come back to the last brush set used please? Having the possibility to choose our own default set we would be practical too. Thanks.
  16. I'm not sure if this is a bug on the Affinity (or Adobe's?) suite, or something else I'm not understanding. I'm betting on something I don't understand so I'd like to hear a word from someone knowledgeable in fonts. I've noticed the character leading default value is smaller and variable in all Affinity apps, while on Adobe with value is larger and fixed. On Adobe's software, no matter what font you choose, you will always get the same default leading value for a certain font size. Let's always use 18 pt for clarity sake. So in Adobe you'll always have a (21.6 pt) character leading value for a 18 pt font size, regardless of the font chosen. On Affinity for a 18 pt font size the leading will normally be (18 pt) too, but this value varies with the font chosen. I've only seen it going higher than (18 pt), but normally just a few decimal points. For example some fonts have a leading of (18.6 pt), others (18.4 pt). I have noticed an outlier though, Gabriola has a huge (30.6 pt) leading. For what it's worth, the Affinity values seem a lot closer to what I'm seeing in LibreOffice, for example Gabriola has a huge leading value in both. I'm not sure what to make of this... anyone knowledgeable in fonts can help me understand what's going on? Thanks!
  17. I'd like to find a way to remove the default paragraph styles - particularly unused styles - in Affinity Publisher. Is this possible? I prefer to create my own. Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi, I'm a new user of Affinity Photo and Designer. Is there a shortcut for setting foreground and background colors black and white like in Photoshop "D" key?
  19. I have a personal palette that combines the standard greys and colours into a single palette called David Mac. This I have exported and saved as DavidMac.afpalette When AP opens it opens always to the Grey palette. If I then select my own DavidMac palette from the palette dropdown list it displays just as it should. If I then set this as the RGBA/8 Application Default palette in the Swatches menu I receive a message ‘Default Palette Saved’. However if I close Affinity and re-open it defaults once again to Grey. Creating a new RGBA/8 document doesn’t then switch to the DavidMac palette I have saved as the RGBA/8 default - I have to select it again from the dropdown. Now to my naive mind a default RGBA/8 Application Palette is the one that opens automatically by default for any RGBA/8 image, be it an existing image or a new blank image, but this isn’t happening. BTW, although I am posting here because the problem exists in the latest 118 beta release, this is not new to just the beta - it has always behaved thus from the very first AP. So am I missing something obvious here (which I often do) or is this a very longstanding bug?
  20. Just a quick annoyance in the Beta version - can you turn off the feature that associates all .afdesign files with the new beta version? There's a regular warning about not using pre-release versions for production work, and I think the automatic file association goes against this philosophy. Yeah I know it's not particularly difficult to change the file associations back, but it still bugs me.
  21. I shoot landscapes with a Pentax K-1 which has an in camera HDR function, merging 3 images. When I import one of these files the imported image appears to be one of the three RAW files and not the merged one. I've looked in the Workbook and done a search for this but couldn't find anything. I only recently started using Affinity. My OS is Win 10. Is there a way to import the merged file? Thanks for any help.
  22. In a recent thread, members have been discussing whether or not Affinity Photo claimed file types for itself on installation. It seems that it does do so. I would request that, on installation, Affinity asks the user if it should be the default file type for those files which it can open. Many other programs do this and it is a helpful feature. John
  23. Hi, I tried to find solution but couldnt. For other tools you can go to Edit > Defaults > Save - for selection tool it doesnt work I want to have default settings for Refine - not have to manually change it each time and switch off that weird "matte edges" option (who even uses that) Is there a way to have default setting for Refine Selection tool? Same as per my photo?
  24. As someone who uses both the Opener app (https://www.opener.link/) and Affinity Designer in iOS, I'd like to have URI action support in Affinity Designer on iOS. This support would allow me to directly open .AFDESIGN files from whatever file system they're in: iCloud, DropBox... while using the iPad and automatically open iOS Affinity Designer with that file (similar to how files can be directly opened in Mac OS).
  25. The Picture Frame Tool properties should have a default of None. Or, please allow the user to choose a default, different to the present Scale to Max Fit. Keep up the good work. LesliePrint.
