  1. First, Affinity Designer is beautiful and extremely efficient tool. I like it! I am doing design and artwork for front panels / operating panels of electric devices and machines. The drawings are available in DXF and / or DWG from Autocad (trademark). What would really speed up my workflow is the option to *import* DXF or DWG files. Considering that these files can carry very complex information it would be sufficient to be able import only a single layer file or a single layer of such a file. This contains all mechanical data so I can be sure that the artwork will match the target
  2. We are very interested in transitioning from Illustrator to Affinity Designer. We are product designers (not illustrators) and use Illustrator in combination with our CAD package; it's an essential workflow for us. Anyway, part of this workflow involves importing and exporting dxf files. I've seen in this forum the request for dxf support. However, as I've not yet bought Designer, I'm not sure if this feature has been added. Has it? If yes, great! If not, please can someone outline if this feature will be added soon and when? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, It will be a bit long, since I have to touch other, very closely related issues as well. Rhino to Affinity Designer: So I'm a bit lost, at first a seemingly easy excercise: how do I get linework from Rhino/RhinoWIP to Affinity Designer without using a 3rd software? The exported .ai/.eps files won't be read, and .dwg is still out of league. Relevant McNeel Discourse threads: https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/what-export-option-to-use-to-get-rhino-into-affinity-designer/38872/6 https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/exporting-in-eps-ai-form
  4. TL;DR 1) add dxf support (in- & export) 2) Change SVG exports to world/document units instead of pixels. I recently bought Designer to escape Adobe hell, but I am running into a rather large annoyance: We do a lot of lasercutting/CNC routing at our studio which needs DXF files to work (feature request 1, please add DXF support). I understand this isn't implemented in Designer atm and this wouldn't have to be a deal breaker if SVG export would work properly as I could always use or write an SVG to DXF converter. The problem with current state of SVG: Every SVG is conve
  5. Please Please Please. I love the Affinity applications but this is the one thing that has me frustrated.... I am an illustrator that uses architects plans to build from and the import of other formats isn't satisfactory. Thanks.
  6. Hello, I'm new here and want to share my self made drawings with the members here for FREE. I draw 100% nonprofit. Files are vcarve ready and laser ready. Dxf ore a Svg files you can download them Free. One Reminder keep my drawings Free in anyway you use it so don't sell them. https://storyboardsdraftsman.wordpress.com/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/597383347469762/
  7. Dear Affinity, We are loving Designer and enjoying the transition from Adobe for all the three products. However, for us, a key feature that's missing is the ability in Designer to import/export .dxf files. Back in 2015 (I think) we requested this as a feature request but it's still not implemented. Any idea if/when it might be arriving? It's really vital for our workflow as we work with imports/exports for CAD. Edward
  8. Good day! Add the ability to export to the “DXF” file!
  9. Hello everybody, since 2014 we are comforted here .... I also need a dxf export directly from affinity. I do not want to go back to Adobe Illustrator. I have my graphics lasered out of metal. When is it with the DXF export so far ??? Please ...... Greetings from Hamburg Christian
  10. Hello, my proposition is, we have an option to export curves to DXF or DWG. Im sure there are more people who not only use Affinity Designer for 2D graphics, but also for using its curves for cutting with laser or others. Sometimes i need DXF file for that, and PDF with curves is not supported by CNC. Obviously i can export it to svg and export by other programs, but its a way around this problem and not really a proper solution.
  11. Maybe quantity of posts will help with this feature request: I absolutely NEED DXF import to make Affinity useful to me. I keep an ancient copy of Illustrator around simply because it does this. My application is for the silkscreening and label generation for electronic products. My CAD tool is SpaceClaim - a wonderful tool for usability, but very limited in terms of things it exports. DWG/DXF is the only usable vector format it will export. Very detailed and relatively complex information is exported in the DXF, exactly to scale. That is the aspect that needs to be preserved
  12. Hi, I was very excited when I heard Affinity Designer was in the works as I thought it would be the perfect system for me. However, the lack of DXF export makes it useless for my purposes. I have an art production company and 90% or our work is setting up 2D cut files for laser cutting and cnc milling. I am stuck with AI even though I loathe it and even have a legacy copy of DrawPlus X8 which I regenerate pretty much every dxf file I produce BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST RELIABLE CROSS-PROGRAM-FRIENDLY DXFS I HAVE EVER USED. Soooooo frustrating I can't take combine the streamlined w
  13. I had to keep my Draw Plus loaded because of nice features that it has which Affinity does not. Strange that Affinity is basically a Serif Draw Plus upgrade but is missing important items. I load a lot of pictures in Draw and trace so I can save as a dxf or dwg to use in my cnc software for my router table. Since I bought Affinity and its workbook(which is pretty nice), I rarely use it as all the processes I do are in draw + tracing and saving as cad files. Hope this gets added. I have every serif product there is and always keep them updated. I just had to use Draw+ for the most basic st
  14. Hello I often need to manage cad file like DXF and DWG. Is there the possibility to handle them in any further version? thanks! Denis
  15. Would like to see industry standard DXF or DWG export format for exporting vectors to CAD software programs. tx
  16. Just bought my copy, and even though I haven't delved much into the soft yet, the first little thing that comes across, is the lack of DWG/DXF support. Those file formats are still industry standard within CNC manufacturing, and also for architecture it could come in handy. Bests, Morten
  17. Dear developers, I have been waiting a long time for the possibility that I can with Affinity Designer in dxf eportieren. When will it be possible? I would like to switch from Ai to Affinity Designer. I would appreciate an answer. thank you
  18. The ability to export DXF format curves would make it much easier for designing in Affinity and then cutting with a cutter/plotter.
  19. Is it possible for my design to be converted to DXF format for production on a laser cutter?
  20. It would be great if Designer supported the import and export of DXF files.
  21. Can I export an Affinity file tot DXF? I use Drawplus for it instead of Illustrator, while Adobe does not export it well. But Drawplus is only for Windows and we work on a Mac.
