  1. Hi, I write cause I have a painful time trying to get the colors right from a DNG file.| The DNR file was made using an Android Smartphone - Nokia 7 Plus - with Adobe Lightroom CC android app - it has a camera option with DNG save. I use windows 10 and default picture browser, I have installed Adobe drivers for DNG file. When I open the file in the picture browser it has the right colors - very close to the actual ones. When I open the same file in Affinity Photo I get them wrong. It's subtle (or not so subtle in the example I give) but it is/ And it's not a uniform shift (I suppose) and I can't get them fixed, neither by white balance or channel mixing. I tried to decrease blue channel and it worked on a part of the image but rest of the image was off. I try tonal curve for blue channel but it's painful and I can't get it right. On the attached image you can see the difference. The right side is the more correct version, the left side is affinity photo - develop persona - I just moved the saturation all the way up to show the problem. Both images are the same file - just open in two different applications. Please, I need help! I wish I could get the colors right! EDIT: Ugh... in reality it's even more turquoise. I know that things may be off because of the monitor calibration but still I have hard time get it right.
  2. I'm evaluating Affinity Photo in a work flow that uses DxO PhotoLab to apply lens as well as basic colour & exposure corrections. When I export from DxO into Affinity, photos look significantly different. Is there something I'm overlooking? Can someone please suggest how I can carry forward all of the work done in DxO before I begin more detailed work in Affinity Photo? Thanks.
  3. Hi, I currently don't do any processing on the move - using just my Mac desktop at home. I have an iPad Pro and am exploring my options to get things done whilst out and about doing shoots. My query is about my potential workflow, and if Affinity Photo can help. I currently use all Adobe apps on my desktop, but a quick look at Lightroom on the iPad doesn't seem to provide what I am looking for. I'm a real estate photographer, and I outsource my processing due to the volume of work required. But I often get gaps in my schedule when on the road, which could help me to get my photos to the editors quicker (then waiting until I get home). I'm using Sony A7R III (with an A7 III as a backup). All I need to be able to do is: 1) Get the Sony RAW files from my SD card onto the iPad. I understand a lightning SD reader will be needed for that. 2) Then to review the images, and possibly on some of them scale/crop to get the best of the shot. No actual processing of colours, etc. 3) Then save/export them as DNG files onto a cloud platform (whether it be OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox, whatever). Then I can email my Editors the location of the files to pick up for processing. I can't give them JPGs because they need to do the actual processing. DNGs end up much smaller filesizes than Sony RAW which means easier uploading too. And they are more universally recognized (the editors don't want to work with specific raw formats like Sony) Right now I have to wait until I get home from a day of shooting and do the above with Lightroom on my Mac. I'd love to be able to do this between shoots on the road, on the iPad. However, none of the apps I have looked into seem to be able to export this way. It's either save back to the original RAW format - or convert to a final non-raw format such as JPG. As I can't trial Affinity on iPad - and it's the key feature I would need - I thought I would ask here before buying. Is this going to be possible? Many thanks Simon
  4. Hi, I opened an existing DNG and noticed that Affinity Photo changed colors, ... on itself. On 5:45 of the following video it's the same behaviour. How can I supress this? - The original Image is much more darker than Image you can see then opened in Affility. On the attached Picture you can see the difference. when I open the same DNG-file with Affility(top left), LR(button left) and Irfanview(right). When I then export the DNG in Irfanview to a JPEG and open this JPEG in Affinity everthing is fine. I also noticed another differenc between opening the dng and opening the jpeg. After opening the dng the develop-button on the top left is activated. Doen't that mean there was a change (you can see this on the attached picure). After opening the jpeg that button is not to see.
  5. I know that this topic is present on this forum however I din't find a clear answer if functionality described below will be included in Photo and when? One big thing that is missing for me is the possibility to save my work on raw files - like .xmp files that are being created by Photoshop. I simply just want to return to my work later I know that we can save presets and use them later but its not the way I would like to work (save presets in many places and remember to use them again, dozens of presets after couple of days of work = nightmare). So maybe DEV team can add feature to save all these photo-specific presets to any metadata file .xmp (for example). So when next time you open any raw file the app will look for proper metadada file in the same directory and apply all modifications from it ? If this kind of feature is on the roadmap - when it will be available ? Now I am thinking of buying subscription for Adobe CC instead of using Affinity Photo app that I already have. Just beaceuse of this missing feature. Best regards, Mike
  6. Is there a way to convert a RAW file straight to a DNG file within AP?
  7. I took a quick shot with my google nexus 5x phone from a moving Ferry. The window wasn't clean and I was too late in the morning to catch that Golden Hour light but it was just for fun on a boring 40 min ride. I processed the raw .dng file in Affinity photo did a little cropping and straightening and then had some fun experimenting with adding clarity, adjusting highlights and shadows and adding a gradient overlay to simulate a warmer light.
  8. Is it possible to get Windows Explorer to display thumb nail picture of an "afphoto" file? Can I export pictures in DNG?

  10. Hi there, Tried looking this up before. I just got myself Affinity photo from the app-store and wow it is fast. But. I mainly shoot film, so my photos are RAW DNG's coming out of VueScan. Which means they are negatives that are about to be converted. I just tried opening one of them directly in AffinPhoto, and the max resolution that shows up is showing me 250 x 250 pixels...but when I open the converted TIF file, it shows up as the real size (5000 x 3800 in this case). Am I doing something wrong, or is the programme not possible to read the RAW-scan from VueScan? C
  11. Hi, I am thinking of buying Affinity Photo because of:- the price, it is purchase not rent, it has excellent reviews and the online tutorials look very good and are English not American. Looking at the website I cannot see support for Lightroom's DNG file system which all my photos are in. Is this the case and if so does that mean I am going to have to convert every photo I want work on in Affinity, export it to a folder and then import it into Affinity, or am I missing something?
  12. Hello, I have very annoying issue for me to be honest it is biggest problem with affinity. When I do stack or HDR and I will export files to EXR (I use SNS-HDR for compression) Affinity always delete all metadata. Can I preserve metadata from first files? it is commonly used system in all apps that I used till today.
  13. Is it possible to open RAW files in Affinity Photo that have been developed/cropped in Lightroom with the crop/development applied so that there is no need to start again or will Affinity only open the original RAW file?
  14. I'm trying to cobble together a workflow for shooting raw on an iPhone or iPad then editing in Affinity on an iPad. Current best bet would seem to be shoot RAW on iPhone using Lightroom Mobile, which syncs happily with the iPad but I can't yet figure out how to get dng files from Lightroom Mobile into Affinity. Anyone done this? thanks.
  15. Hi Folks, Hope I do not repeat an already existing question, but opening a .dng file from my Leica Monochrome (with AP 1.5.2 and Beta 1.6.5) results in a strange behaviour. PS, COne, Graphic Converter etc. open the file flawlessly, AP unfortunately not. In the upper part of the picture are two streched partions of the photo and the lower part remains black (see attached picture. Am I the idiot and did something wrong? Or is it a problem with AP? Kind regards, Rolf Eichenberger
  16. Hi, I have a camera that produces DNG files (Sigma SD Quattro, and DP Quattro 0 camera). These seem to load into a number of other iPad apps OK, but in Affinity although I can see the preview when I'm selecting DNG files from iCloud, when they load into Affinity Photo they are just all black. The thing about the DNG files that I think is causing issues, is they are linear DNG files - OS X does not seem to handle these form of DNS files well either, as they are also all black in the Finder preview. I was hoping you could somehow alter the code to load in these images to detect they are linear DNG files specifically and load them in differently than other kinds of DNG files. As a workaround I have been loading them into Lightroom and exporting TIFF files to bring into Affinity Photo, but I'd really like to move away from Lightroom completey and not loading in DNG files directly is a bit of a roadblock. I have three examples in the DropBox folder linked below, the DNG files along with exported JPG versions from Lightroom so you can see what they are supposed to look like (the JPG files are slightly reduced in size but I can export them full size if needed, or provide other DNG examples). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dn2t8vcyy54wike/AAARWjvRZqmUGUdocUZ2zzGIa?dl=0
  17. Hi there! I'm new to this forum, but I'm using Affinity Photo and Designer (Mac and now iPad) for some time. Finally we got the great iPad version of Affinity Photo. – I love it, thank you for this great product! :-) One of the most important Affinity Photo use cases on the iPad for me is, to import DNG files with lightning SD card reader on the go. This works well, but there's a limitation currently with merging HDR. Creating a new HDR merge does show the JPG but not the DNG files. Opening (DNG) files from 'Photos' does open the DNG file, but not if using the HDR merge function. Is this a know issue or how can I create HDR merges based on DNG files on the go? Sincerely creator
  18. It became too unaffordable to maintain my Adobe CC subscription, but before I buy any product to replace it, I need to know if my old files will work with it. Chiefly I wanted to know if I can use Affinity Photo to read and at least convert if not edit the DNG file format that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom uses? Thanks, Richard
  19. Hello Affinity Team, Kudos on a great product. I work in an Android device manufacturing company and our devices have RAW shooting capabilities. However, some of our users have reported some compatibility issues between our devices and your software. I would love to work with you guys to ensure maximum compatibility between our two platforms. I haven't found a direct technical support e-mail where I can contact you guys. Sorry for using the forum. If you could send me a private message I would really appreciate it so that I can give you more information. Thanks again for your time and best regards!
  20. I've read that AP's raw converter supports reading from some uncompressed DNG files produced by some Leica cameras. But does it support Adobe's DNG beyond that subset? Or are there unimplemented features?
  21. To open a Pentax K-1 DNG file takes 28 seconds, sorry too long. Will this problem be addressed soon so I can be more productive or am I doing something wrong ?
  22. I see that dng files are listed in the "supported files" but when I try to open one I get a series of colored lines. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.
  23. When opening a DNG file into AffinityPhoto it is imported with many colored artifacts as shown in the attached 200% clip. This does not happen when importing the same photo into Lightroom. The photo is from a Canon Infrared converted camera producing RAW files in the DNG format (I can't upload the original file). In other respects, Affinity sems the handle the files correctly.
  24. New to Affinity Photo, and so far, what I've seen looks good, then it all comes to an abrupt halt. Trying to do my forum avatar pic, I decide to use my new Serif software to resize my picture. All going good, until I come to "Save As", so that I can save my image as a JPEG. Even this forum doesn't recognise AFphoto files! Serif - the product is good, but why do I not have the option to save my processed file to what I want? For this example, JPEG would be enough. In the future however, it would nice to be able to convert my images to other file formats - such as DNG etc. How after processing my images - or friends images, as I do sometimes - how do I send them back their image - so that they can open it on their systems? :(
  25. Sorry to bang on about this, but two problems from 1.3.5.7 remain in 1.3.5.10. They relate to the Photos.app Extension. 1. Only one Extension Persona can be used on each image as the image resets as you switch from one Extension Persona to another. 2. The Develop Extension does not work with my raw files (.dng). A black or blank (chequerboard) image results. The main app (AP) works fine. Do you have plans to fix these, please?
