  1. Would be nice if you could add this. I know I can achieve it by closing open curve, but Illustrator does it and it's useful.
  2. Is it possible? Like "Path" in Photoshop, would be useful when creating multiple clipping masks.
  3. Hi all, I am using the whole suit of Affinity desktop currently, I would know how to center my layer between two curve. I know I can align them with the alignment tool but it seems the alignment tool take account of the whole box to makes its calculus. How can I ensure only the curve line drawed is take into account to calculate the alignment to operate? You will find more informations in the joined picture. thanks.
  4. In Rhino 3d. There is a function called curve boolean . It uses a flood/fill to create a closed boundry - useful for colour fills in vector drawing. video -
  5. I know how to attach text to a curve in designer, but can't find the option in photo. Does it exist? If so, where is the feature / button TIA, Jeff
  6. Hello, I would find it very useful if I was able to freely position the tool pop ups from for example the curve or hsl tool. Especially on the iPad Pro 11 inch the center placement of the tool often makes it harder to judge the impact adjustments have on the image while using the tool as it takes up a lot of screen real estate in the center. A great addition would be if something like being able to undock tool and drag it with two fingers to a different location in the workspace would be implemented. Thanks for considering, Johannes
  7. I have been learning to use the color grading technique by using swatches and LUT created on my now swatches. I have noticed that there are differences in color tones in my final images after the color grading is applied. I use 5 colour palette created from Image, saved on Location: Application. I have followed instructions from one PS tutorial and when adding colour from a palette to grade scale, I make sure that 2 colours, the two between black and midtown, midtown and white, are given values corresponding to L value showing up in the color picker window. Unfortunately, I cannot add the L value for the white and black point, as the Location box for these two in AP is inactive. The PS tutorial proposed also one step more: match the tones of colors by adding the tones values to the curve (see minute 8). I don't find this option in AP, when working with a swatch there is no way to adjust the curve. Any idea how I can match better the tones from th template in swatch palette? Please see the minute 8 in this tutorial. I do not know how to replicate this step in AP. Is it possible?
  8. MacBook Pro 15" 2018 model with Touch Bar, macOS 10.13.6, AFP 1.7.2 I was working either with a Levels or Curve adjustment layer attending to out-of-gamut areas of a soft proof when AFP crashed. I wasn't doing anything I haven't done many, many times before. Several other .afphoto files were open in the same session. Here is the crash log: Affinity Photo_2019-08-22-231523_RRL-MacBookPro15.crash .
  9. Windows 10 Home 1903, Designer 1.7.1.404. Some people might think this as being too picky but others might think it is a major problem for them so I’ll report this as a bug and see what happens. The attached GIF shows the problem much better than I could explain it. Watch how the dashes on the curve change shape. Sometimes they’re fine but at other times they look really bad. Modifying the curve or zooming in/out alter how the curve is drawn. This bug report comes from this forum thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/95564-minsk-tramway-incl-metro-transit-diagram/ line-with-dashed-stroke.afdesign
  10. I now sit on a project for 10 minutes and wait for the Affinity Designer to convert the selected objects into lines, It only uses 1 core of my CPU. AD need more Multithreading for this art of tasks.
  11. On Adobe Illustrator, clicking end point of another path will attache new path to the another path. How do I do that on Affinity Designer?
  12. Hello Affinity Team, I have a problem with the function "vector brush" or brush on curve and I wanted that my created brush is anchored horizontally instead of turning in the vector curve. My idea was that with the Vector or Curve I get more influence on the drawn objects like brush width, Size Variance etc. without the objects changing their angle position. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a switch yet. Is this a case for your to-do list or do you already have this feature in the feature roadmap? Here are some examples when I assign a brush to a curve: Actual result : Expected result: Actual result : Expected result: Actual result : Expected result: Actual result : Expected result: Brush live arranged: Approach to my drawing idea which unfortunately didn't work out:
  13. Hi, can AD or AP (Desktop)convert the selection brush marquee tool to a path or curve. In the image below I have used that tool and have the marquee but Convert To Curve is greyed out in the right mouse option box. I can do this in Fireworks 8 quick and easily. Thanks for any help.
  14. Hello, I'm a new user of affinity designer. I found how to follow a curve with a text, but I want to put texts inside a "head"and following the shape. My problem is that the text is inverted, I don't keep the curve and the text is outside the "head". Can someone help me please? test.afdesign
  15. When I expand my stroke some of points are duplicated. It usually happens on endings... If I move a dot we can find duplicate with same coordinates. Adobe Illustrator has same issue and that is the main reason why font designers avoid using it. It looks as you have same algorithm. I would recommend to pay a lot attention to this. I do love your app especially for pressure window It allows me to imitate calligraphy But now I need to clean path manually which is time consuming.
  16. Hello, New users of your software suite (Publisher + Designer), we allow you to make a return after having tested and used. On Designer, two features seem to miss our needs: - the creation of graphs (curves, diagrams); - the selection of objects with identical outlines and / or backgrounds. Eventually, we plan to substitute your software for Illustrator. The absence of the two features above forces us to still use Adobe Illustrator very regularly. Is it planned to add these features in a future version of your software? Thanking you in advance for your answer, Best regards.
  17. It's great to have such useful converts as AD's "convert to curve, text frame and path,' but a convert from curve to ellipsis would be a great help for those of us bringing Illustrator work into AD. I have maps with hundreds of city dots that I must manually change to vector ellipses to reduce their weight within an app. Any chance of a "Convert curve to ellipsis" coming in the future? I realize it would take some complex programming but hopefully it could be done.
  18. I was working on a very simple design with the pen tool. I got to the point where I needed to expand the strokes of those paths, and I ended up getting a very unexpected result. Even though they are very simple shapes, the curves got distorted after being expanded. I tested this with Designer 1.6.5.135 as well as the latest beta release. I've attached a couple of PNGs illustrating the issue and the file I was working on so you can take a better look at it. expand strokes.afdesign
  19. Delete and backspace do not work when editing text on a curve. You have to drag select the area you want to edit and delete it or replace it with the correction.
  20. Hi ... first of all --- i love using AD! But now i am stucked :( i want to use a contour - which shall look like a stitched seam - and substrate it from the main curve - which is a heart. So the background will "go through" - for example, if I want to use a transparent png Are the any hint to substrate contours from curves ? Cause if i use the normal way it looks like this ... i didn`t found any option to convert the contour/curve into a normal curve. Like i do with the "W" and cut it “of“ ... #thx
  21. Hi can anyone help me heres my problem. Cant get text to follow path no matter what. Any shape or curve no matter the method I use the artistic text cursor doent change to squiggly line. Green highlight lines pop up but text still goes straight across. Tried everything = "To create text on a path selecting a shape, change to the Artistic Text Tool and mouse-over the path. The cursor should change to a "T" with a wave line below. Click and start typing. Alternatively you can select a shape go to menu Layer ▸ Convert to Text Path and start typing. Additionally you can also use a shape as a text frame. To do it select the shape, change to the Frame Text Tool, click inside the shape and start typing (or go to menu Layer ▸ Convert to Text Frame). To convert text to curves, select it with the Move Tool and click on Convert to Curves button on the context toolbar" None of these work. I have follow instructions to the letter, watch several different methods and videos. There is no convert text to curve option in layer menu no matter what I have selected. This is basic stuff why is this so difficult to make work? Is this a bug? Corrupted version? I have affinity on desktop and on laptop both are having these issues. Update fix? Please help.
  22. Hi, I've just noticed something with text on a curve that I hadn't notice before. I have some text going around two circles for top and bottom text - I created the original file early on in the first Windows beta a couple of years ago. The text in 1.7 doesn't follow the curve, most noticeable with the H, M and N in the top text whereas with the the original beta the text flows virtually perfectly. The top image is the early AD and the bottom is in 1.7. I've also attached the 1.7 file which is a straight copy and paste of the text objects with an extra circle. misaligned text on a curve.afdesign
  23. Hi guys, I cannot find a way to rotate / scale if I have several curve points selected (see screenshot), which makes the way to work with a bunch of points exhausting. I'm sure I just have overlooked it didn't found it in the forum as well. Thanks for your help, Stefan
  24. Hi, The thing I mis, is a function that turns a selection into a curve/path.
  25. I can add stroke just fine. I suppose I should build a scenario. I make a text, I convert this text to curves then add a stroke to make the text appear more bold and appear the way I want it to, but then when I export the file (to .svg format) and send that file over to another software for another use, the text (already converted to curves and with stroke) appears without any stroke. I've checked on the .svg file when exported and it's fine, but when the other software reads the file it only reads the curves not the stroke. I understand you can't change the way another software reads an .svg file. My question is if there is any way for me to add the stroke as part of the actual curve itself on Affinity. I've gone around this by tracing the entire stroke around the text (converted to curves) itself on other projects, but its very time consuming. This process more than triples my the time I have to work on each project with this problem. So any help is appreciated, thank you
