  1. When exporting a file as PDF, I can reliably cause Affinity to crash. With the document open: Select Export from the File menu Select the PDF tab Preset: Select PDF (for web) Raster DPI: Select 300 (or anything above 72) (this causes the 'Preset' to go blank) Select the 'More' button Enter '150' in the 'Downsample images' 'Above DPI' Select the 'Close' button Affinity will crash as soon as you hit the 'Close' button. "An Unhandled Exception has occurred. Code: 0xE0434352"
  2. I can reproduciple kill v1.5.0.7 when I open multiple PDF files (2 are enough) quickly. Edit: Even if I do it slowly it seems to crash all the time. Reproduce: simply use the menu --> file --> Open --> select PDF-1 confirm default options with OK quick do the same again for PDF-2 pdf-sample-1.pdf pdf-sample-2.pdf pdf-sample-3.pdf
  3. First of all, I installed 1.5.0.6 this morning. It was a painful process because after it installed the .net and went to the Affinity setup, it locked up the entire computer, so I had to power it down. When I turned it back on, it went through saying it was updating my computer. Yes, my computer, not my Windows! It did it while the computer manufacturer’s logo was showing up, so it looked like it was doing that during the BIOS bootup, and that was scary! Anyway, I then installed 1.5.0.6 without a hitch. But when I first started it and it was showing its fancy startup graphic with its transparent background, out of curiosity I just clicked on the startup graphic and it suddenly had a black background. I clicked on it again and the background turned white and I got an Unhandled Exception message from Windows. When I clicked OK on that, the startup graphic disappeared and Affinity stopped loading. So I tried to load it again, this time without clicking on the startup graphic and it loaded successfully. I can’t say whether this is something new in 1.5.0.6 because this was the first time I ever clicked on the startup graphic. Adam
  4. Designer has become unreliable. In the last hour alone it has crashed 4 times (I'm doing some simple wireframing in the latest App Store version). What was a rock solid product has become, well, Adobe-esque. This isn't why I moved to Affinity a year ago, and spent the last year convincing designers to do the same. I knew in my heart this would happen eventually. You've now more products, more features and another platform to support. In the moment of a crash I'm angry. Then sad. I'm back where I was when I was using Photoshop. Still a great Affinity team of lovely people. But in too much of a rush or spread too thin.
  5. Unhandled Exception 0x80004003 when clicking arrow for justified text dropdown /framed text/ on elipse shape every single time. with multiple documents. this is for sure at my win10 i think this is kind of very important update, same after restart with different doc preset, same with different shape same with original text frame .... SAME WITH ARTISTIC TEXT! always crashes, i leave it up to yous JUSTIFIED DROPDOWN BROKEN
  6. Upon clicking the paragraph alignment tool dropdown (normal left/center/right buttons work fine), displays dropdown for one frame and then crashes. Reproducible.
  7. The system crashes when you click on the small arrow next to the text alignment options in the toolbar. See attached gif.
  8. Guys, Has anyone experienced a crash when using the swatches palette? I have had it occur twice, once when I tried to change the fill of an object and the second time when I tried to change the stroke colour of the same object. I had changed from greys to colour and selected a colour from the palette and nothing happened so upon a second click, the crash occurred. Just tried it again so I could post the screen shot with the error message but, in the mean time I had upgraded to v1.5.0.5 and it doesn't do it anymore. Must have been reported before and now fixed. If that's the case, well done Serif.
  9. AD 1.5 Beta 2 crashed. I had just finished setting the fx of several layers then right clicked on the collapse triangle (to collapse the whole series of layers), it didn't do anything so I right clicked again. Beachball, crash. Crash 7-1-16.txt
  10. Hello! Thanks for the app. I have three comments to: 1. The app crashes fairly often - in all possible activities. The message "An Unhandled Exception has occurred: 0xC0000005". 2. In the version 1.5.0.2, there was a preview image in the Windows Explorer. That has pleased me. In the 1.5.0.4 version, there is no more preview image. Instead the affinity-symbol appears. 3. In the zoom level "Zoom to Fit" there are display errors (in the screenshot right below). (Windows 7 / 64 bit)
  11. I Usually alter many keyboard shortcuts to suite them to my speed So I opened Affinity and altered my shortcuts and saved. Then I remembered that I've forgotten something. so I altered that Then Clicked on Save, and selected the previous save file to replace it This caused affinity to show an "Unhandled Exception" screen And then App crashed. Tried this again and the same thing happened. I think it has something to do with replacing files. I attached a video file of it, and also included my shortcut file as well, I also reported the crash. So you might want to check this out. Thanks Keyboards.zip bug report - Replace.zip
  12. Enjoyed my initial foray into using Designer - a simple A4 poster for a concert. It took me about 90 minutes, during which the program crashed five times. On two of those occasions Windows informed me that the program had encountered a problem and needed to close. On the other three, Designer just suddenly disappeared. So clearly there are still bugs and instability associated with it, but it looks a great program.
  13. i've downloaded affinity and re install 2 times it's still not starting up it closes on splash screen on window 10 64bit
  14. I’m so excited to finally be playing with the Windows version! Well done, and thank you. Some observations, queries, and suggestions based on my first experiences: I have my Windows taskbar set to auto-hide, and it’s not accessible when I’m in AD. I can press the Windows key to bring it up, but it would be nice to be able to move the cursor down to the bottom of the screen to access it, like I can from most apps. It would be nice to be able to tab between input fields, in dialogues and in palettes in the studio. I like to use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible, but it feels slow and clunky to have to manually click in each field to enter a new CMYK colour, for example, instead of tabbing between them. Esc doesn’t work across dialogues as I would expect it to. For example, if I bring up the preferences, I have to click “Close” to make it go away. Likewise for layer effects. Again this interrupts my keyboard shortcut flow. Also with layer effects, it would also be nice to have a single Cancel option. Sometimes I like to fiddle and play with effects to see how they look, but then decide to cancel. As far as I can tell, I need to remove each effect I’ve added. Perhaps this is just a different approach that I will grow to like once I’m used to it. Are there ways to create presets for new documents, PDF export, etc? That would be very useful for me. What about viewing colour separations? It’s essential for my work. I’ve found working with text to be extremely buggy. AD has crashed more than ten times on me just doing basic text operations like changing fonts, font size, leading, escaping the text frame, etc. I will create another thread as soon as I can pin it down and be a bit more specific about the steps that lead to crashes, but for now it seems like there are a lot of issues with text, and many things have triggered the crashes. Also, relating to text: Ctrl + Shift + > makes the text bigger, as I am used to in InDesign and Illustrator, but only one step for each press. It would be nice to be able to press and hold it to scale a large amount quickly. Or is there another way to do this? No warning for overset text? Is it possible to flow text between frames? Filler text isn’t selectable, except as a whole block. It would be useful to be able to edit it directly, as if I had typed it. A few times certain characters wouldn’t appear when I typed them, but others would. An invisible space would appear, so I could continue typing afterwards, and clear the missing character, but still not type it. This seemed inconsistent and irregular, but was consistent for certain characters within a frame in a session. It was usually followed by a crash. If “Check Spelling While Typing” is checked, everything I type is marked with the red squiggly line. When I restart AD after a crash it usually (but not always) says that it has been restarted after a serious error, and asks if I would like to send the error report. I always choose Yes, but then don’t see anything else about it. Does it send in the background, or should it be obvious that it is sending? Any other suggested best practices for error reporting, or tracking steps that cause crashes? Obviously it’s helpful if we can list steps to recreate a crash, but anything else? Any way to automatically track and save a history? Aside from the above problems I’m excited. It seems fast and has lots of useful features that I look forward to exploring more thoroughly. I look forward to a time when it’s stable and I can really start relying on it in my day-to-day workflow. Thanks for all your hard work, and the chance to give it a spin for free!
  15. I had a blank page with three ellipses all with different colours and had all selected. I tried to select the layers panel tab to open the layers panel and got an error then the program crashed.
  16. Ok, before I discuss the crash, let's discuss the lack of an image handler here in this forum. I took a screen shot of the crash and can't post it . 'Image' is only looking for a url link to an image. And if you try to use My Media it doesn't have the ability to upload the image. Using Affinity for Windows Beta I was able to crash the help file consistently. After opening the help file and selecting a category and opening the help file if you use a down arrow to scroll through the text it through an Exception error and could not back out of the crash. Affinity knew when I restarted the program there was a crash and asked permission to send a crash report. But after agreeing I assumed that a window would pop up to add information as to what had happened prior to the crash. No such window. I've attached the file, but had hoped to embed.
  17. Hi, I found that there is a problem when you want open some file types from locations which have in path name some national characters. In my case it was from C:\Users\Lukáš\Desktop\. When I try to open PDF throught ctrl+o appears error "This file could not be opened. Ensure it is valid PDF document." When I try to drop into existing project, program instantly crashes. When I try to open from path, in which are only english characters, it opens fine. Does not happens with all file types. From which I tried, crashes with pdf and tiff.
  18. I haven't found myself needing to jump back and forth between Designer and Photo too much, but I have been recently while mocking up some UI designs on devices, making use of vector tools in Designer then warping screens in Photo to mask before exporting. It could be something included in my design (a few mockup elements opened from PSD files), but I've been getting some pretty consistent freezes and crashes copying and pasting between the apps, such as pasting a warped and rasterized screenshot back into Designer. I've also noticed when creating some vector objects in Designer then attempting to paste and tweak them in Photo, they're almost always being rasterized now. Is that default now, or is there a way to turn that off?
  19. I have opened and am attempting to edit a .pdf file created outside of Affinity Designer (AD) and change the typeface of content in the file to Myriad Pro. On my computer through FontBook I had 10 Myriad Pro .otf faces enabled: 6 normal width, 4 condensed. Not all faces showed up in the dropdown menu in AD, and they were mislabeled. So, for example to get the normal width bold I had to select condensed width regular italic. My guess as to the problem was that there were too many face options for AD to handle. So I went to FontBook and disabled the condensed face options, as I wasn't planning to use them. After doing this, AD crashes any time I attempt to change a typeface to Myriad Pro. In another forum entry, I became aware of the "reset fonts" button in AD under Preferences>Miscellaneous. Clicking that button does NOT fix the problem. Nor does closing AD and reopening, or creating a new version of the file. CCHDModel-complete-PLv2.afdesign
  20. Vectorized a texture file and the resulting svg was rather large. opened it and at first i didn't think it was opening, a little later, I noticed my map was working rather hard. AD had opened my file. Went to zoom in, it froze, then came back. Went to select all layers to add them, crash. Spinning beach ball of death the whole time. I can't upload the offending file, since it is 200+mb. I think this kind of file warrants a special mode for importing large files; never rendering at a high resolution, offering to add all curves together, and less nice looking pan/zoom. I think the scrollbar (in the layers menu) had hit its minimum size. 2014mbp, nvidia gforce gt 750m, 16gb ram, 15" AD used 9gb+ of ram Would this be considered a bug? I wasn't sure.
  21. Firstly, this past week AP has crashed frequently on me. I've been editing three photos and gradually AP began crashing toward the end of editing - such as when adjusting unsharp or a high pass filter. Then it would crash without any action by me. Secondly, today I attempted to open raw files and they would not open in the developer persona. They would open in the photo persona as a pixel layer or when I tried placing, as an image layer... This has not happened before this week. Any insight into what may be the problem? I am using AP 1.3.5; Mac El Capitan 10.11.2. Thank you!
  22. Please try to work on the program so it doesnt hang, crash or become inactive using large files Dodging brush please set a host of varibles to use dodging brush intuitivley
  23. I’m trying to open or place an image with/in Affinity Designer and it immediately crashes. What’s up with that? I can send you a crash report if you like (I’ve sent them to Apple, too, though).
  24. Id love some help! Im creating print ready banner art. Each time I try to export, in any format except affinity, Affinity Designer crashes. What can I do? thanks! rs opening.soon.afdesign
  25. I was converting a number of different image formats to jpg and wound up with several (too many?) graphics programs open at the same time. When I tried to open Affinity Designer, it crashed halfway through opening. Got the new logo up and the panels flickered a bit then boom! Gone. Closed everything else, tried again. Crash. Repaired permissions. Restarted. Crash. Deleted Designer. Downloaded and installed anew. Crash. Zapped PRAM. Crash. This is part of the crash log sent to Apple. Any ideas on what I can do next?
