  1. Hi, In this Affinity Photo Tutorial I show you how to improve the contrast and coloring of a low-contrast photo on a rainy day. For me, this day was emotional but the photo was disappointing because of the rain and the low light. So I found a way to rescue some of my impressions of my hiking day. I wish you fun. Ciao Jack
  2. Hello, is this possible to fix this photos with Affinity Photo to be easier for reading and printing ( especially that ). Main goals: Make background paper white Make text contrast Remove shadow - all background to be close to white or white. I know that sample resolution is very low which complicates this task. Thanks for help
  3. Hello, If you guys could add these contrast ratio feature in Affinity, it would be a really great tool. Here are some links that checks the contrast of background and foreground color. https://coolors.co/contrast-checker/112a46-acc8e5 https://colourcontrast.cc/ https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ I also attached a video explaining the feature request. Regards, Hossein Affinity-Feature-Request.mp4
  4. Images appear darker and with higher contrast in affinity compared to other applications (see uploaded image). The problem occurs with different file format (jpg, tiff, raw). When the file is exported with affinity and reopened in an other application the appearance is normal. Which means the high contrast and darkness is not saved in the image. The problem started with the upgrade to version 1.7.3. What I've tried so far: - Change color profile (Appearance changes but the high contrast and darkness remains) - Downgrade to 1.7.1 (-) - Reset settings (-) - Delete affinity files in appData folder (-) - Uninstall programs I've updated at the same time as affinity (Nikon NX...) (-) How can I fix this issue? I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
  5. Hello all I evaluate AP 1.7 as a replacement for Lightroom but run in some very basic problems with raw file development. 1. When I develop one single raw file (DNG from Lightroom) AP writes a huge file (121MB versus 19MB original). This is no good. Is there a way to save the adjustments done in a fair way without using the alternative formats like tif, jpg etc. ? 2. I want to develop several raw files (DNG from Lightroom) at once with a batch process and saving them in jpg or tif for further processing. However, I do not manage to apply the individually made macro in Photo Persona to process the RAW files in Photo Develop, although I can select the macro. Possibly the macros are not compatible? How can I process several raw files the same way? 3. Is it still not possible in AP to save adjustments made in single raw files in an undestructive way? Thank you for your helpful answers. Best regards,
  6. Hi, I have question about the Tone Mapping Persona tools which I really love. I would like to better understand what is happening under the hood when using Tone compression tool and Local Contrast. Usually for realizing what some tool does I use SliceTool in Nuke, which shows me what is happening with the curve after using the tool. On images below we see what tonemap tools do to the curve of the linear gradient ramp. Some results are pretty crazy like when local contrast is combined with Tone Processing. I thought that if I apply same curve as I got from Tone Processing with a normal Curve Adjustment I will get same result, which is not truth. Here is an example. I would like to know what is happening to the image under the hood with Tone Processing and Local Contrast. I am curious if this effect is possible to replicate with other adjustments or tools. For example lately I use 3DLut Creator with Affinity, I am interested if this effects are possible to recreate with tools in 3DLut Creator and save it to .cube file. If anybody knows more about this topic please enlighten me.
  7. Can you convert from color to grayscale and/or black/white in Affinity Designer and/or Photo? This is very helpful for designing for the very few people who cannot see color in checking for background/foreground contrast.
  8. I've noticed that no matter what I do with the contrast or brightness sliders, the number at its right never changes. The adjustment works fine, only the number is not. If I enter a value manually and hit enter, the slider reacts properly, but the number remains 0. I've also noticed that it shows 'px', instead of '%'. Regards; Val [edit] It happens with all the adjustements.
  9. For some reason, the triangle icon that shows whether or not a layer is expanded does not look the same as in any recent tutorial video or screenshot here or on the web. The attached file shows the difference. It is the same for AP & AD -- in both of them on my system the triangle is black on a very dark grey circular background, almost impossible to see because the contrast is so low. I am currently running OS X 10.11.3 & the latest 1.4.1 Affinity versions, but the triangles have looked like this ever since the circular background was added to the UI. Changing the UI Gamma & Background grey level has no effect on this.
  10. I appreciate the increased functionality of the second beta, but was dissapointed that the auto funtions were removed. Why remove functionality? Yes, the increased functionality is useful to sophisticated users, but even being modestly sophisticated I found the auto levels, contrast, white point convenient and superior to that which Photos was able to do. Wouldn't it be easy to add them back?
  11. We, or at least I, need more contrast in the clickable"option" boxes in the context menu. There is too little difference between the darkness of the logenze and the darkness of the menu bar. On some of the ones that toggle between Off/On, I simply cannot tell by looking which state they are in.
