  1. To speed up workflow, I'd like to request a color behavior change when selecting masks. When selecting a mask, please change foreground/background colors to Black and White. When selecting back onto a pixel or image layer, revert to selected colors. This is a Photoshop behavior I miss very much and I didn't realize how much I missed it as I've spent a LOT of time trying to figure out why my mask wasn't working only to realize I was painting on the mask with a color rather than black/grey/white. Also Thanks for your consideration
  2. I've been processing photos with Affinity for a few years now, I've never noticed this much of a difference in the color of a photo from when I'm previewing and then opened in Affinity. I'm not the most knowledgable person out there, but I know enough to know that RAW files are going to be a bit bland before processing, however, I don't ever recall it being this much of a difference. Forgive me if this is normal, if it's not, any tips and info on what's going on here would be appreciated.
  3. It would be very useful to have functions to select the same: Color fill stroke (color / width) Appearance To quickly select all your outlines, or background element in 1 color. Speed is everything. :)
  4. I cant find anything similar with "color lookup" pre-defined color filter (As you can find in Photoshop) on Affinity Photo. Does anybody know if exists a similar feature here? If not, is it possible to create and save pre-defined automatic color adjustments? Many thanks!
  5. Hi, Please take a look at this video much better than I'll ever be able to explain : to keep it short : blending, as in photoshop, is badly implemented, making these weird dark in-between transitions. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi Folks, I'm trying to understand where I make a mistake: I create a CMYK doc with Fogra 39 profile, I place in the layout some RGB images, some texts, colored and 100K and a couple of boxes filled with other colors. When I export them I try to change the ICC to Fogra 29 or SWOP. I expect images to have different CMYK values... and it happens. However this changes also the vector boxes and text, so "Numbers" aren't preserved. Worst of all, also the 100%K comes on CMYK values. I tested some different setup, but when I change profile, numbers aren't preserved at all. Strange. Cannot find a way out of this. Someone could be so kind to explain me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it? Thanks a lot! G:
  7. The last 1.8.2 update has broken the use of tab to navigate the values of the color panel. You can use the tab to go to next field, but as soon as you type a new value, tab stops working until you manually click into a field again. This worked fine in 1.8.0 and 1.8.1. It seems that tabbing after typing the value deselects the current field instead of selecting the next one. Setting cmyk values is now a slow tab-type-click process. Other tab-navigable panels work fine (for example, transform panels) By the way, this is a good chance to remind you we'd love to have tab-navigation in all panels, not only The Chosen Ones. 😉
  8. Hello! I recently upgraded to AP 1.8.2 (on a Mac Mini, OS 10.13.6). I find that the color selection panel is locked in the slider format. if I unlock it, I am able to change it to a color wheel (my preferred format) but only temporarily: when I leave the color panel and then return back to it, it reverts to locked sliders. Same thing happens every time I open a new document. This did not happen in 1.7.3 How can I permanently unlock the panel so I can move freely between formats or at least lock it as a wheel? I have found no help regarding this either in the forums or by searching in Google. Thanks, Mauricio
  9. I'd like to see a tool that would allow the user to select all (shapes and/or layers) by color. This would be extremely time-saving when designing logos or making illustrations where you want to show several color variants. Thanks for your consideration.
  10. Help please! I am trying to understand the colour picker/dropper tool and hope someone can advise i have a rectangle, I colour it red ff0000. I create another rectangle, use the colour picker and hover over the first rectangle to choose the same red. the pixel square in the middle of the circle goes red, but it’s not selecting that colour, instead it Selects a grey. I found that moving the picker around the box at some point the outside circle goes red, but as the whole box is the same colour, why would it only be on certain points that it selects? this happens in various tests and means I cannot use the picker the way I’d like which is to select colours from images ive made a video of an image I’ve got. By enlarging, I can see the various pixel colours, but as the video shows, the picker isn’t picking up many of them. please advise, am I doing something wrong? thanks IMG_1217.MOV
  11. I really need to be able to import swatches in the iPad apps, and I can find no logical reason not to have this feature. I can import brushes, fonts, symbols, assets, but not swatches? It is essential when working with color to be able to import a palette with specific characteristics. On the desktop it is so easy to do, but on the iPad it is impossible... Also I considered creating a swatches set myself from an imported image, but this required so much back and forth, clicking and opening menus it was a nightmare and I gave up after 4 colors. Please implement importing swatches soon.
  12. I add a new photo AP. I go to Color, Swatches,, and Add Document Palette, nothing happens. Am I wrong to suggest the colors from the open photo would be added as swatches? If wrong, how can you obtain photo colors to add to swatches, other then color picker one by one.
  13. I have been searching for a while now, but cant find any "select same colour" feature. All I can find is a feature request post from 4 years ago asking for this. Surely this rudimental feature has been implimented by now. Selecting and replacing a colour is one of the main benefits of vector work, to not have this seems crazy to me. I know the dev team is small and your product is so superior to Adobe is so many ways, but missing fundamental features like this makes it unusable for real world projects. I hope I am being a dullard and a select same colour feature is available. If not please add it to the top of the list of features in the next update.
  14. Hi all This has been the week of figuring out how to get my colours sorted in Affinity Photo. There is no direct support for the ColorChecker Passport from X-Rite in Affinity Photo unfortunately but I did figure out how to do it with some help. If you use X-Right ColorChecker Passport these are the steps on how to do it. This might be painfully obvious to some people but for me it was all entirely new and took a while to get my head around so I hope that this is some use to people. 1. When you are shooting your photos in a location take a photo of the ColorChecker Passports colour cards and the white card. Make sure they are in the same place as your subject matter and are properly exposed. 2. Import all the photos from your session along with your pictures of the ColorChecker. 3. Open your photos of the ColorChecker in Affinity Photo crop them down if you like and export them as 16 bit Tiff files. 8 bit might work but I have been going with 16 4. Open ColorChecker Tiff photos with the new beta version of ColorChecker Passport Camera Calibration software in the ICC tab. 5. Export your ICC profiles naming them something so you know what photo shoot they go along with. 6. Close down Affinity Photo and then re-open it to refresh the ICC database 7. Open your photos from the associated photo shoot and go to the Document tab and select Assign ICC Profile and select the ICC file you just created. And if all goes well your colour is mostly corrected. 8. Now to set the white balances correctly. Go to White Balance in the Adjustment section. Click the Picker button and then click on the photo that you took during the photo shoot of your white card. This will then automatically make the adjustment. I hope that helps some folks. I did not understand any of this stuff three days ago and it was no fun trying to get my head around it for the first time. If anyone has tips on how to improve upon this workflow please share. I am by no means an expert on this subject. All the best!
  15. Hello! I have a very urgent request and hope somebody can help me I used Affinity Publisher to create an invitation that is going to be printed. The problem is - when I convert in into PDF the color of the image turns out different than the color of a vector that I placed in the same color and a rectangle I also placed in the same color (pipette). I later tried it with the print shop's used ICC profile, but it's nothing better. While the image is the same color as the original (background is greyish blue), the rectangle and the vector are very brown. I have no idea what might be the problem...
  16. Can you modify the tint of a global colour? From what I've found you can edit the CMYK / RGB etc. values, but no tint. So if I need to globally change a colour from 95% to 85% tint I have to find every instance of that colour or am I missing something? I've tried so many different ways with opacity and tint, but can't figure it out. Many thanks!
  17. When specifying a color using the color tool (using latest Affinity Designer 1.7.3 ), how can I specify (or obtain) an actual value for the opacity? There is a slider which works fine, however there isn't any numeric value associated with the slider that indicates what percentage of the alpha value you're currently using. Also, the recent colors list doesn't appear to retain the opacity either. How can I input a specific value for the alpha? Getting the RGBA value would be fine, too. So, I just noticed that this behavior with the opacity not showing a percentage value only appears when using the "FILL" or "STROKE" options in the "Curves" toolbar. The dockable tool window with "Color, Swatches, Stroke, and Brushes" tabs shows the opacity percentage, but no hex value. Thanks!
  18. Dear Affinity Support Team, I just bought Affinity Photo and am truly impressed by its functionality and ease of use. I really love the software, however I realized there is probably one minor defect in displaying images (if it can be termed that way)... My setup (SW, HW). I'm using Affinity Photo 1.6.5.135 on Windows 10 Pro, on a Lenovo ThinkPad T560 laptop with Intel i7-6600 and 16 GB RAM. I'm using the built-in computer screen along with an external screen (Eizo FlexScan EV2335W), both color-profiled using my X-Rite i1 Display Pro. The problem. Affinity Photo seems to only display colors of my pictures correctly on my built-in screen. As soon as I move the Affinity window to my other screen, the colors become slightly shifted and inaccurate. I mostly work with 16-bit TIFF images using ProPhotoRGB (ROMM RGB); and I even set the global Affinity Photo settings accordingly (Edit --> Preferences --> Colour --> ...); however, this problem shows up even if I open sRGB images. I wasn't able to iterate to a correct color representation on my external screen no matter what color profile I assigned to the document (picture). The only thing that appeared to help was to simply move the Affinity Photo window to my built-in screen. Side notes. I many times noticed that many application and even Windows itself tends to have issues with this, each in its own way. For example, mspaint.exe is always way off on any of my screens (way too dark and muted) from the point of applying color profiles to my screens, while another application I use (XnView) displays it always correctly. Capture One, DxO PhotoLab and even Adobe Photoshop also display images correctly and consistently on both screens. Also, I wasn't able to document this using screenshots, as that happens to capture the colors consistently, as they show up on my built-in monitor; however, when I compared the same file opened by Affinity Photo and XnView, the incorrect color shift on Affinity Photo was apparent (more purple-ish colors in my case). I would appreciate your advice in case I'm doing something wrong or in case I missed some important configuration options to adjust. In the mean time it would even help if I could reconfigure Windows together with Affinity Photo to use my secondary screen's ICC profile as the default one, since that one is more suited for image editing. Thank you in advance. Best regards, mk0x55
  19. Hey! So for some reason both my Designer and Photo show whites as yellows. I cannot fix this and I definitely know it isn't a problem with my monitor since I can clearly see the photos I edit as normal before importing them into Photo. Also, in Designer, the empty background is white, but the white brush is not. Please help. Thanks! Examples:
  20. Hi guys, I have created a color gradient in a layer fx (see image) - now I want to copy that gradient somehow or ideally make it a swatch/global gradient. But I don't see how. Thanks in advance, Stefan.
  21. Hi, Hope all are well. I am a new Affinity Designer, trying to get familiar with all that Affinity has to offer for design and the likes... So here is my question, I am seeking to see how I can keep the image I uploaded in its original color, everytime I import an image it changes to a greenish color, but I can't find a way to keep the original color of the picture/image. Any assistance with this would be appreciated a tons... Thanks...
  22. What’s the best way to create this effect (in designer, publisher or photo)? The face and background of each photo have different color overlays. Thanks in advance!
  23. Not sure why this is happening, but when I drag and drop a png into Affinity Publisher, the colours change slightly. Please see images for a comparison (photoshop is the original, Affinity is the changed colour):
  24. This is a bug report for scanning color documents into Affinity Photo on Mac. Moderator: I was registered on the legacy Serif forums, which did not automatically transfer to Affinity forums. I can reproduce when attempting color scans. (Note: Black & White, aka, gray-scale scans, however, import correctly.) Yes, this happens with a new document. Environment... OS & Version: Mac OS X Catalina (10.15.2) Expectation: Color scan will import / acquire from flatbed scanner correctly in Affinity Photo (attached: see color preview in 'Acquire Image' dialog) Actual Problem: Color scan is rendered in 'color bars' [sic] (attached: notice that the acquired Affinity Photo document renders in color bars) To Reproduce: Launch Affinity Photo on Mac, and access "Acquire Image..." from the "File" menu with a color sample loaded into the flatbed scanner; click the 'Scan' button (attached: screen capture with "Acquire Image" dialog showing the sample Screenshot attached. The scanner is Xerox WorkCentre 6515 with Mac OS drivers installed. Thank you, Ross B. --- Serif user since PagePlus X4 (in 2009), Ten Year Serif Anniversary Desktop Publisher since Mac OS 7.5.1 (1995)
