  1. Hi, After the latest update of AD I can't find the noise slider to add texture in colour fills. Is that feature removed or moved somewhere? It was cool to add some texture to flat tones or gradients easily by sliding the noise slider. Any insight is appreciated. regards, Raman
  2. Hi Affinity Team, I am having some issues with PNGs with transparency. If I add these PNGs inside a CMYK document and export them as PDF I get different colors behind the transparency of the PNG. This happens when I use the format PDF/X-1a:2003 or PDF/X-3:2003. If I use the PDF/X-4 the transparency problem does NOT occur. It would be great to fix this issue since most professional printer would like to have files with the PDF/X-3:2003 format. Thanks and Kind Regards Tim
  3. Hi In AFPhoto's small color picker, I usually use HSL Color Wheel which doesn't have the necessary "Hex code" text box. (Useful to copy/paste every color even across other softwares) I think It's better to put hex code in all color pickers, similar to AFPhoto's main Color Chooser:)
  4. I have some jpg images that I want to cut as stencils in my Silhouette design program. But the colors are reversed so that the Silhouette program cuts the wrong part of the jpeg, i.e., it cuts out the black part rather than the white part that I want to cut out. I'm wondering is there is any way to reverse the colors in the image. Doing so would allow me to cut this correctly. I have both Photo and Designer.I tried doing a recolor adjustment but that didn't work. I tried rasterizing the layer to see if I could convert the image to curves but that didn't work either. Are there any other options, or is this just the nature of jpgs? Thanks for the help.
  5. It would be handy to have HSLuv (or similar) colorspace slider in the color picker. http://www.hsluv.org/
  6. Hello, I noticed that when I copy/screenshot an image from a website or a graphic software and paste it in the AD, it generates different colors than the original image. Is this a bug? OS: Windows 7 Software version: 1.6. File example (attachment): The top images are copy-pasted from other sources (screenshot, copy image from website or graphics program). The bottom images are imported by dragging the saved image on the desktop into the software with the original color.
  7. Affinity Photo is really amazing graphics designing software...But it really sucks when I work with color gradient & texture...Does anyone have any idea about how to use this type of rainbow gradient fill on text or any object in Affinity Photo v1.5...???
  8. I often choose a colour from a palette then go and find its monochromatic or analogous colour variant. It would be great to have a built in tool to generate these variants automatically. For reference check out: https://color.adobe.com
  9. Hi there! I drew a picture, scanned and vectorized it, cleaned up the edges, and everything was looking good until I tried to separate the different objects using layer>geometry>divide. Suddenly all the white spaces in my drawing filled in with black! I'm guessing it's because the insides of the lines were a shape instead of just empty background... Is there a way I can prevent/fix this without going back to the original scan and changing the tracing settings (I used inkscape for the tracing) so that I don't lose the work I did smootjing and fixing it up? Thanks. The file attached has the original image below and a version I copied and then divided above.
  10. Hi I am new to the Affinity, pardon me if my question seems silly. I am experimenting some basic stuffs right now, when I try to paint on an imported photo, the color goes on the photo will be lighter than it shows on the right side of brush panel; if I start with a blank document then the color goes on is the same as it displayed on the brush panel; brush settings are identical, can somebody explain to me why? thanks!
  11. Affinity seems to be assuming that my Canon RAW (EOS M) files have a colour space of sRGB, despite the fact that they are really in Adobe RGB. The reason I say this is that if I enable colour space conversion warnings, and set my working space to Adobe RGB, it does warn me that it is converting from sRGB to Adobe RGB. Does affinity support colour spaces other than sRGB in RAW files? If not, is there a way I can assign the correct space manually in the Develop persona? (I can't seem to find a way to do this)
  12. I have an image that I am trying to color using affinity designer I tried changing the fill color but that didn't work also I tried converting it to curves but that didn't work either can anyone help me please?
  13. Hi, TL:DR Set Fill / Paint / font colour change crashes the program when applied to a block image e.g. not a font. Attempts to paint the entire A4 page but takes 15 minutes perhaps more. Why does it take so long to paint a page. Why did it paint a page when it was only a small portion that was selected. Improve logic to prevent this? Hardware i5 2500K overclocked to 4.1gHz, 8GB RAM, 128GB ssd, Intel onboard Graphic 3000, 4TB ssd/plater HD, AMD 5770 1GB video card Creating another master piece and was just changing the colours of the fonts. I then clicked on a block of graphic image and clicked on that to change its colour. Once I did this the computer started to play up with the mouse becoming erratic e.g. not moving smoothly. This got worse to the point I had no response from my computer. After a minute approx I could get taskmanager to start and I could see that Affinity Photo was reporting it is "not responding" At first it was using 1% cpu and 1.5 GB of memory Being patient I waited perhaps another 5 minutes perhaps 10 and noticed that the program came back sort of. I checked taskmanager again and found that cpu use had risen to ~32% and 4.5GB of memory with 0.3% of disk activity. The entire Affinity Photo program screen had a transparent grey all over the entire screen. Normally when I see a program in this state I would conclude it had crashed. I waited some more and found the program returned to a functioning state however my entire image had be painted the font colour. At first I didn't realise it had done this but as I clicked on the image I noticed handles responded. I saved the file "which had ballooned from 2MB to 27MB" in this state and restarted the program and found the entire image was still completely painted in the font colour. I used the undo feature and managed to get the image back to where I wanted it. I then attempted to change the colour again of the block image and guess what it did exactly the same thing and "crashed" I took screen shots including the taskmanager if your interested. The saved files seemed excessively large as for an A4 size page. It is a very basic image with text a certificate of a swimming milestone for ABI swimmers. Thought I would have had this done and dusted in say an hour or so but I have spent a considerable amount of time on it due to the "crashes" and writing in this forum. Images blurred for privacy reasons.
  14. IU'm converting from Photoshop and struggling to understand something - In the colour panel, there are 2 colour circles which appear to correspond to a 'fill' colour, and a 'stroke' colour - whereas in Photoshop they relate to Foreground and Background colours. Does Affinity Photo have a concept of Foreground and Background colour or not? In Photoshop I can create a gradient from the foreground colour to the background colour - how do I do the equilavent in Affinity Photo? I used the colour dropper tool to select 2 colours in a photo, but as soon as I switch to the gradient tool I don't seem to be able to use the colours I picked, as a white gradient fills the entire layer and I cannot find an option to go from Fill to Stroke colour.
  15. Hi, For some reason the color of the object is different when choosing 90% black from the gray palette vs setting it on the cmyk slider... Am i missing something here?? Cheers! Pedro
  16. If I need to select many objects quickly, is there an option to select by color?
  17. Since the digital industry is moving away from sRGB to a wider HDR style color profile, it would be nice to have some sort of color boundary line on the color wheel selector tool to let us know what colors are inside/outside of the sRGB color spectrum when using a HDR color profile. This might be good for CMYK as well. Perhaps use an actual color profile as a color selector option...
  18. Hey everyone! I am not positive if this is a bug or not. Most of the time, jpg compression works alright, but sometimes, preserving colors will be a huge issue. Even when using 100% quality, some images will suffer from an extreme color loss. Is there a way to avoid this while still compressing the image? Are there some weird things going on with the color profile? Or is this to be expected? [EDIT: Alright, this is a bug of some sort. If I take a look at the images here in my browser, this issue isn't present. The colors look fine. However, when I download the images and look at the .jpg files (using space bar in Finder or Preview.app), the color loss is present. Also, I was able to resolve this issue for some files. I don't know the exact workflow for doing so, but it involved copying the image data into an empty file. Is this an issue of file corruption?] Best wishes, Shu
  19. Greetings, After using Affinity for some time, I am noticing a gradiation problem that bugs me. Because when I did a print test, the same problem has occur. This happens when I do gradient or blur on my illustrations. Is this related t the software itself, color profile or simply the lack of a proper video card can cause this issue? SPECS RAM : 8GB Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 DirectX 12 Does better video card equals to better color banding? See attachment for the issue I currently have or is this related to the color profile. Want to find an answer to this problem, so I know what I have to work on to avoid this in the foreseeable future.
  20. Hello everyone, I currently own a monitor which is used for color management, but unfortunately I am still very confused on how everything works. I read so many articles, etc., and I still don't feel that things are clear to me, mainly because when I try to experiment with these things I get mixed results. My monitor is capable of 99% adobeRGB and I set it in windows to always use adobeRGB. My concern is that the colours I see in Affinity photo differ quite a lot to those I see in lightroom (I use a standalone version of lightroom to do cataloging and some pre-editing). I read that lightroom used ProPhoto RGB as its main icc profile for the develop module. Well, I set the "RGB color profile" in the AP's color profiles as the same (I downloaded it from the icc website). Nonetheless the colors are still different. Is this somehow a conversion from the higher gamut ProPhoto RGB to adobe RGB (screen's icc profile) that uses different engines and therefore the colours are different? What are the steps between the photo's RGB values->screen when in AP? I need guidance or someone to really dumb down the information and feed it to me, because I am very confused with this ordeal. Thanks for anyone's time, all the best, -JA
  21. I am trying to stretch my Affinity skills a bit but following along with a Brandon Woelfel photo tutorial. The photo began looking different from the video right off the bat, with the Temperature adjustments. my main issue so far is that when the video changes the color channels to bring out a more teal color my whole photo just looks ugly and blue. it seems PS just has a much better and more specific HSL adjustment tool, is the true? Please help. I have attached the tutorials picture and mine in the same step making adjustments in HSL, Please help!! Here is the video. I just took a screen shot of the original to work along with the video.
  22. Hi, just new with affinity photo for mac. I buyed it to play with LUTs and FCPX. I did tutorials on internet, but it's impossible for me to have a result. Tried exporting .tiff picture from FCPX then graded it on AP, did printscreen, tried .jpg and .png, but always the same problem. See pictures. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug? when the lut is applied on FCPX (I tried two different app to apply the LUT (mLUT and PixelStudio) the result is the same. the weiderst thing is that when I apply the created LUT on the original picture in affinity photo the problem is the same! any idea??? many thanks for the help and sorry for my english... Damien
  23. I've done some mono to colour in the past, but I've only recently begun to try it in AP. I scanned some old family photos a few years ago, and these two are of my grandfather and father (he's the younger one!) taken about 1949 or 1950, when Dad got his call-up. Granddad was a Special Police Constable, and they must have been showing off their uniforms. I'm pretty sure they were taken on Dad's camera. Anyway, to business -- I've reduced the images after recolouring, which cuts down the noise somewhat. The left-hand photo didn't look natural enough, so I tried Filters>Colors>Auto... (all four) and got the result on the right, which looks a bit more natural. Didn't work on Granddad though! I used a separate pixel layer for each colour, trying different combinations of blend mode and transparency till I was satisfied. Dad's eyes are a little stark, and there are some hard edges which need softening up ... but I'm still on the learning curve, and any constructive criticism will be welcome.
