  1. Hi there! I'm astonished with Affinity Designer for ipad! I'm almost completely transitioned from my PC to iPad, just need a few more options. Suggestion #1: Select BY SAME FILL COLOR This is very important for professional work :) For example, if a group of objects (or shapes) are overlapping, what we need to do is to select them all, and divide them. After they are divided, we need to click on "Add" to merge the shapes together, and that's fine. But if we have a LARGE number of SMALL shapes, merging one by one can take forever. So, option "Select by (the same) Color" is very important and time saving for us designers. How I think it should be done: Solution 1. Click and hold the color (from toolbox) with pencil, or with finger, and while holding it select (with your left hand) three dots icon "..." and then choose "Select all" Solution 2. Add a new icon named "Select Same Color", or similar. Suggestion #2: SHAPE EFFECTS For me, as a Vintage illustrations and Logo designs fan, I would like to have a ARC LOWER, ARC UPPER, AND (possible) ARC tools. For example: Netflix logo. How I think it should be done: 1. After typing "Netflix" for example, convert curves, and than click on new icon set named "shape effects", than click on "Lower arc", or "Upper Arc". OK, that's for now, If I missed these options, if they already exist in same/similar form, please let me know.
  2. I cannot for the life of me find the Global Color option on the ipad photo app. I imported a project I was working on in Designer and it shows the global color swatches but I don't know how to edit them.
  3. I've just installed the 1.5.2 update and started a new document with a white background. The white is not white. It is a bit "tanned", or with a bright yellow shade. I pasted a print screen inside the document to compare the white background of a Instagram page with the white background of a new document. I'm attaching a screenshot so you can see what I'm saying I've tryed to change Color Profiles. Both RGB Color Profile and 32bit RGB Color Profile. Nothing changed. I'm using Windows 10 The new document setup is attached too. Thanks for your attention and any help would be apreciated
  4. Hello! Please have a look at the following image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O8yEvxtFKmYVeJZn5QgdxLKUXv_eRsdO/view?usp=sharing It's a low-res artwork of a neuron, often found in scientific contexts. The left part is the original image, the right part is the original image where black has been replaced by white (so that this image can be put on dark backgrounds). The right part is also the result of Photoshop, where I've simply used "Replace Color", chose full black to be replaced by full white, tweaked a little bit with the tolerance, and that's it. I'm having trouble getting the same result with Affinity Photo, unfortunately. I think the fact that the image is basically low-quality makes it a little bit harder. The goal would be to replace the black stroke with a white one, but leave the red color inside exactly the way it is, just like Photoshop did. Here's my first naïve approach using Curves: https://drive.google.com/file/d/140_HbrpTRi7PwpjuwgKQmbqCb6zA78k9/view?usp=sharing As you can see, I can keep most of the red color, but I'm getting some chromatic abberation around the red circle (why?). Second approach, using Gradient Maps: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AwJtaEAy58O-O0ZWMno89S0sLIc1xbpC/view?usp=sharing The problem here is that I have to hit the same shade of red of the original image at any specific value point, which means I'm recoloring the red circle unfortunately. Any other approaches I missed, and which I could learn? I'd greatly prefer a non-destructive way (compared to Photoshop's) and keep using Affinity Photo/Designer (as always), so I'd be thankful for any help! Affinity Photo's Color Replacement Brush doesn't seem to work at all, it will try to do this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/101TrlMsApn2OfKwgkvKsM1bTs8M9-eEk/view?usp=sharing
  5. In Affinity Designer Hi, How do you select a part of some fonts to change the color? For example I have the word "WATER" and want half of it horizontally at the bottom white and at the top blue. Thanks! David

    Matte Color Macro

For certain photos like street, casual wear, but also sometimes for portraits, I tend to use matte color effects if those shots have to underline some more urban style. It is an easy task to apply some matte color effect to your shots, though if you need it quite often a reusable macro is the way to go for this. - Here is one adjustable matte color macro for Affinity Photo, which you can reuse for such matte effects for either color or b&w images. BEFORE AFTER LAYERS This macro creates three layers for you with corresponding layer masks: A curves adjustment layer which applies the main matte coloring to the image, which lowers contrast and flattens blacks. You can use the mask (draw with a white/black brush) to exclude/include specific areas from the matte color. For example you could exclude in portraits the eyes from being matte here etc. A contrast boosting layer which allows to give back a little bit of the contrast lost by the matte color effect. This is as default a copy of the matte layer with an applied soft light blending mode and half lowered opacity. Again you can use the mask to remove or reapply certain image areas here. Finally a desaturation layer which can be used to lower the saturation of possibly still too bright colors. You can use the mask here too in the same intended way as before mentioned for the other layers. THE MACRO matte_color.afmacro Matte color.afmacros
  7. I’ve been having an issue with the way AF renders the colors in Canon CR2 files compared to Canon’s Digital Photo Professional. I have the tone curve turned off in the Develop Assistant and am using the Serif Labs RAW Engine. I’m using these settings to enable me to have lens correction since I’m using a Tamron lens which Canon’s DPP doesn’t support any corrections. And I can’t disable the initial tone curve in DPP which limits my dynamic range. I’ll attach screenshots of 2 images, one converted by Canon’s DPP, the other by Affinity Photo. You can see the obvious color shift, especially in the reds. When I put the eyedropper inside the zero of 750s on the side cover I get these values. DPP R=222, G=4, B=3. With AF I get R=188, G=0, B=24. I’ve tried using the Selective Color adjustment and can get the red close by setting the Red channel to Cyan=-100%, Yellow=+35% but the other colors are still off and difficult. Is there any way I can color match to the Canon DPP colors? They are accurate to real life.
  8. Any body found a better equivalent to using the beaker tool to pick my colors, like a color pallet tool. Iv had affinity photo for about 4 months and until a couple of weeks ago I didn't think about it but now it sounds like a smart idea. Please help as in a guide... iv checked the new board and I didn't find any help there.
  9. Is there a way to change the Workspace color profile to something other than the offensive dark grey it defaults too? I looked through all the menu options and didn't see anything. I'm hoping I missed it.

    Material Design Color Palette

Hi Everyone, I have created a color palette based on Google's material design (https://material.io/guidelines/style/color.html). Attaching the palette file for AD. Hope it would help. Regards, Anupam Bordoloi Material Design Palette.afpalette
  11. When using alt for color picker magnifying glass seems to instantly launch and makes my color picker do weird things, making it too frustrating to pick colors quickly. When switching to color picker using a shortcut magnifying glass seems not to even begin loading unless i move cursor a little bit with pen pressure applied, which works great for me since color picking is accurate, fast and just like in other software. However if I switch off color picker too quickly (happens alot) or even before I release pen pressure line appears. Please consider doing something about magnifying glass if it's in fact the cause. It's neat for vector stuff, but for painting for me I prefer to be able to pick a color fast just how other programs do it. Also I promise I don't miss colors on purpose! Trying my best. affinity color picker with shortcut bug.mp4 affinity color picker with alt bug.mp4
  12. It would be cool to have certain user settings (mainly custom color palettes & swatches) sync between the entire Affinity suite once released. It would save me hours in duplicating colors in each application ;)

    Color Issues

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what's wrong exactly, but I'm trying to pick a certain color (indicated within the pink oval) but whenever I do Affinity gives me one of the colors in green ovals. Even with the exact hex code it gives me the color comes out wrong. Not sure what's happening. Any help is appreciated!
  14. Hi! Firstly, I want to thank you for your products. You do amazing work guys and I really enjoy using them! I believe there are more important features to be implemented, but I couldn't find this one here, so let's list it: There is a "new" font format called OpenType-SVG that stores vector or bitmap informations to create colored fonts. Would be great to push the limit :) PS: Links explaining OpenType-SVG/Color Fonts: http://www.colorfonts.wtf/ https://creativemarket.com/blog/color-fonts?utm_source=ownedsocial&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=blogposts&utm_content=inspiration
  15. In Illustrator it's quick and easy to sample a colour and apply it to a new shape - using the colour picker you can select a colour, and then use alt+click to apply it. I haven't been able to replicate this functionality in Affinity Designer - though please let me know if I've missed something! If it doesn't exist, I'd love to see this functionality since it's a real time saver.

    Solitude No More

Here is the final image that I was having the crashing issue with a couple days ago. 100% iPad Pro with Affinity Photo. Hope ya like.
  17. It would be great if we can get the HEX input/listing on all of the color sliders. I know it shows up on the RGB Hex setting but if I'm working in one of the other slider color spaces I need to constantly switch back to the RGB Hex to read a HEX value. It would be a great time saver. We could also have an option to have it appear or not appear on each of the color sliders in case there are people who do not need it to be shown. Cheers!
  18. Hello, im sorry for my dummy english but i cant find a good forum in german. :-( can someone help me, to make a color (graphic) , destroyed like this: https://www.shutterstock.com/de/image-vector/trust-rubber-stamp-vector-isolated-on-523887091?src=oOU2N5Vs507Bs5MTSc4n_Q-1-22 thank you very much!
  19. This is so frustrating. When I create a new document, AD insists on managing my colors. Why? Why, why, why?! My monitor is properly calibrated and the system (Windows 10) driver manages the colors. But AD thinks I want it to manage the colors, too. So, after carefully choosing the right look, and exporting the image to SVG or other format, the result looks disastrous. Why is AD doing this? And how do I turn it off? There seems to be no way to turn it off. There is a myriad of options for a profile, but there is no do nothing option.
  20. Dear Affinity-Community, I hope you can help me in this case ! I created a flyer using Affinity Designer. Colors are CMYK (ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)). For this flyer I have approx. 50 photos of leather watch straps, where the color is one of the most important things. I edited these photos in Photoshop CC and they really looked fine in PS CC (also CMYK !). The colors are very rich and deep if you are looking at the photos in Photoshop CC. Then I exported the photos from Photoshop and saved them as PNG (CMYK / ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)). Also the image looked fine when I opened it at the preview on the iMac. But as soon as I import this image to Affinity Designer, the colors are very very pale ! I hope you can help me get this problem under control. Thank you in advance ! Best regards Lucas

  22. Hi there! Affected version: Affinity Design 1.6.4.104 (Windows) and confirmed on 1.6.2 (macOS) OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 1709 / macOS High Sierra We have a project file that includes two artboards, where one is always exported with a broken color profile on TIFF (CYMK). This results in three outcomes, depending on the software used with that file: - Windows image viewer and thumbnails: partly read color profile resulting in a color tint - Affinity Designer, Photo and Adobe Photoshop read the file without error and display correctly (probably more tolerant error handling) - Paint.NET aborts loading with a stream read error on the color profile section So the TIFF file is clearly damaged or only partly saved. The project file was started from a copy of a previous project, which exports its slices without issues at same settings. The new project file with the problem has the same export bug on Affinity Designer for macOS (using latest 1.6.2), so I suspect the file itself is somehow damaged. I prefer not to share the project file publicly but can provide it to support for debugging purpose of course. Here is the preview, the the labels are exported slices from the same AD file (two artboards). The left one is correct, the right one has a red tint. Paint.NET error: Thanks!

  24. Hello there, I installed the attached ICM on Windows 10 and associated it with the printer. The AD print dialog does not allow selection of this profile (though it shows other user-installed profiles such as the one for my monitor). Xerox VersaLink C500_C505.icm
  25. I'm running Windows 10 with Designer 1.6.4.104. Within the document, but not the palettes or status/menu bars, there is a yellow color cast to the artboards (see attached); even deeper in the background. Even within the otherwise neutral grey Color palette, the little circle swatches have the same cast. I can't see anything in the Preferences I can change. Is there a way to correct this? It makes judging colors properly impossible. The only other thing I can think of is I'm running f.lux color temperature software, but nothing changes when I disable that (maybe I have to remove it entirely?). Thanks!
