  1. Hi, I'm having troubles with a small design of mine. I want to apply a gradient fade (from both sides) on a text layer. I tried this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5TqqrC3AOY. It works quite well, I get my faded sides of the text. But unfortunately, the colors get gradually desaturated as well. I'm attaching a screenshot, where there are 2 layers visible. One with the fade (and desaturation problem) and the other as a reference. I tried rasterising the text and then the fade works fine, the colors are preserved. But I need to keep the text as a vector. Am I doing something wrong? Could I achieve this effect on a vector text without losing color information? Thanks for any tip or advice.
  2. Hi everyone! New user here. I've searched the forums and watched several of the tutorial videos but this question doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere yet, so here goes: In Illustrator, I hit {Alt, S, M, S} or {Alt, S, M, F} probably about eight billion times a day to select objects in a document by stroke or fill color. I don't see any analogous command anywhere in Affinity Designer. Am I missing something? TIA!
  3. Hi I am wondering if you could add a match color filter or option somewhere for making composition faster when I add part of an image to other thanks.
  4. Hello, I am working on documents that contain many shades of washed out colors and sometimes it's hard to differentiate the swatches. I wished that selecting an object whose color is a swatch would highlight the swatch on the swatches panel. Thanks, Fernando
  5. Hi guys! At first, sorry for my bad English. I have a problem with the system-colors. In the display of the programm is no real white color to see. Please take a look to picture below. What´s the matter? Any idea what the problem is, and how to fix it? Thanks for your answers ...
  6. Hi, I think affinity misses heavily on some good colour correction options. Other software brands allow for almost automatic correction or profiling using great/xrite colour checker cards, e.g. passport, SG24 or DG which are all industry standard. Without that option of automatic profiling Affinity photo is not really to be any valuable tool for pro users who take colour processing seriously. Please add this feature. Thanks.
  7. Hello fellows, I've received the email to buy affinity 1.5. I'm really excited about this program, but I need to make a question, about one missing feature. Will affinity photo feature a Sync option, as simple as Lightroom? I have multiple photos taken in the same shot, and I simply can't color correct them one by one. I only need this answer to buy affinity photo. best regards
  8. I've already gotten past this problem in InkScape, but wanted to know how one goes about doing a selection by color (E.g. say you have an image with a white background) and making an image that has a blend of colors and gradient transparency be a solid color, while retaining the transparency. MY PROCESS: I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to do this in both Affinity Designer and Photo, so that implies to me it could be more intuitive. In Photoshop, I simply go to the menu and select by color, but instead of being limited to RGB (as in Affinity), or tonal selections, I could use a color picker to choose what I wanted on the image. This would then select all of that color in the image and I could either mask or delete that. I found the Transparency tool, but couldn't get it to work on the image and tried tonal selection which worked in general, but was much more difficult to figure out than simply picking the color I wanted (white). I know part of this is simply figuring it out the first time, as I would make quicker work of that process the next time, but it's not always that easy messing with various settings instead of having a color picker. THE POINT: So, while a color picker on the selection menu would be a feature request, my question goes back to, OK, so I've selected the color I wanted as described above and now want to mask that. I clicked on a mask layer and it worked, but now I want to invert the part of the layer that's not masked...which happened to be a blend of colors and transparency. It was at this point I got stuck, as I couldn't figure out how to recolor the rest of the image to be one color, but still retain the gradient transparency it had.
  9. Would be nice to identify each layer with selectable color. Thank you. William
  10. Hello, I'm a huge fan of Affinity Designer, and I'm using this program at my iMac 5k but I have an issue after updating the program. Exporting Jpeg or Png -> My original photo color is desaturated, the tone is down like a pale face.I was comparing many times on my photoshop and my old iMac (not 4k) as well, but I feel it seems that Affinity Designer's bug. Do you have any solution for this, regarding color tone is down? Thanks in advance, DJ.
  11. When in make a pixel layer above a photo i cannot change the color in the gradiënt tool
  12. Sometimes, while working in a doc with text frame text above a box with colour I make one click in the box with colour and suddenly it no longer has that colour. I suspect that somehow I have initiated an AD method that allows one simply to click on a box of colour and drop in the previously used colour (or no colour, as the case may be). However, I have yet to figure out just what sequence of clicks has done this. The mouse clicks are not used CMD, OPT, etc. but only a simple left-mouse click. Is this an AD method or a bug? Thanks.
  13. Hello I work mostly with print so I changed the color panel to show CMYK values, but the numbering is still in RGB form (0 to 255). How can I change them to show cmyk percentage? Also I try to do something that helped me in illustrator but can't find out how to do it with AD. In illustrator I could go to edit-> edit colors-> recolor artwork and there I could do some color changes, like say change only the parts of the design that are in black to blue. Is there a way to do this in AD? To give a better example I have selected a group of objects who are blue and I want to turn them black. Just changing the color doesn't do the trick because some of them have the black in fill and other have it in stroke, so if I try to change color to black it create a black fill for the objects with the stroke. Is this possible? Thank you
  14. I'm feeling embarrassed with the white color in Affinity Photo, and I know it's not my computer or monitor problem. Because, I saw Affinity Photo itself created this problem. Check screenshot, below. I also have Photoshop CC, but that's fine. So, could anyone say something about this issue, Please?
  15. Please consider adding a HEX color input box for the color pallete. Sometimes it's just as important to be able to input a color into the pallete as to extract one and this would be very useful for web design.
  16. Ehy huys, I just noticed and thumbled around for a bit trying to find an easy way to select color ranges like in photoshop. In the select tab I only get to select midrange/hilights/shadows and red green and blue. Isn't there a way to access a selection tab where you get to sample a color and control the it's range? PS. and by the way Serif, if I choose English as a language don't installa the Italian version of the software
  17. Is there anyway to open a document and immediately see if it's an RGB or CMYK document? In Designer, I have to click the Document Properties button and then click on the color tab. In Photo I have to go to the Document menu and select Colour Format. These are really hidden, and the worst mistake I can make is sending an RGB document to print. I need some way to immediately see my document's colour format so if I think it's CMYK, but it's actually RGB, I should be able to stumble across it and be made aware of it. In illustrator, the colour format is in the file name, along with the zoom scale. This would be a simple solution since you already put the scale in the file name in both applications. What would be very nice, is to have a small RGB icon next to the Preferences button. This could change to a CMYK icon, and then a grey icon. (As added functionality, could it also be a conversion button?) Attached is a screenshot of my proposed icon.
  18. In choosing an object I would expect its color automatically to be seen in my list of swatches, either for stroke or for fill. This sometimes is the case in AD, but sometimes it is not, remaining on the swatch I previously used even though I have now selected a different object or text with a different color. When this happens I check to see if I have a stroke or fill chosen at the top of my swathes, but this does not appear to make a difference. This become a problem when I am selecting one object after another to see its actually color. Is this a know bug or am I missing something? I'm on a Mac running the latest beta as of Oct 29, 2016.
  19. I am trying the Beta of Affinity Designer for Windows and I really love it! It's great for someone like me who just cannot afford Photoshop or Illustrator. However I am having one issue. It is difficult to see your cursor crosshair in dark backgrounds because the crosshair is black. Why is it black with no white outlines? I can't see the crosshair when there is a dark background behind it! It makes it hard to see what I'm doing. I have looked in the preferences and I just cannot find any option to change the colors. Affinity, please consider this request and please add a white outline around the crosshair, or have the crosshair use the inverted colors from the background.
  20. Dear all, I am new to photography and editing photos. So, I don't understand anything about Photoshop but I fairly understand the basics of AP. So, please forgive me if the question is very basic and my question is, How to change the colour of the hair in eyebrow? I want to change the grey hair to black hair. Thanks in advance :) Kind regards,
  21. Hi! I wonder, if there is a possibility to change background colour of the upper toolbar? I've found "Customise Toolbar" options, but I can not see anything about the background colour. And when I change "artboard background grey level" to lighter, which I prefer, then the header section is too visually heavy and focus my attention too much. So I would like to ask you, if there is any possibility to give the lighter colour option of toolbar to the new upgrade of your program? It would be awesome! And yet there is another thing that distracts me, although just a little this time... ;) When I'm in the Node Tool mode, then the round curve points are little too big and I can not see the line clearly (like you can see on this strange animal, that I've attached). Is there any option I can choose to make them smaller in the Node Tool mode? BTW, I've observed Affinity from some time and I really like your program and your friendly approach! And wish you best luck on the market :)
  22. Hi, newbie here. Is there an easy way to keep a selected color or similar of full image and b&w the other? Thanks.
  23. Would love a way to auto import or have an option for immediately bringing in global swatches into or from an embedded image for a current working open file without having to do the whole export/import/clipboard palette workaround. Thanks!
  24. There is a photoshop plugin called Magic Picker ( http://anastasiy.com/magicpicker). One of its key features is Tone Locking. Basically, it let you change the tone without affecting the relative lighting, as showed in this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zAfu7xE-Jw ). Super useful in digital painting, photo editing, color palette creation and pretty much all kind of work that need a good color consistency.
