  1. Is there a way to import Illustrator color profiles into Affinity Designer? Like many others, I'm migrating from Illustrator and I have color profiles from my printer that I need to import.
  2. Hi, I am having a difficult time trying to get this eps to display the correct color profile. My mac thumbnail preview for the icon in the folder shows the eps file correctly, but as soon as I open it in Affinity, it is assigned some random profile and the color becomes unsaturated. I tried assigning all color profile combinations to the document to try to find that sweet spot, but none of the colors look right. Here is the original JPG from the designer sent me, and the second is the eps exported to a png from within either AFfinity Designer or Photo. I should mention that the preview of the eps using macOS preview shows the eps correctly. BTW this goes on the side of a race car to explain the need for such unsaturated colors
  3. Is there a suggested color profile and export method for web graphics? I've been testing how to get my exported graphics to look the same in the browser as they do in Affinity programs. I found that the "Wide Gamut RGB" profile looks good and then exporting that profile with the image produces pretty similar results. Is this the optimal method? Thanks.
  4. The printing company I want to use says they use Euroscale as a color profile for CMYK documents. I can see that export profile is available in Affinity Photo but it is not in the dropdown for Affinity Designer (both were version 1.5 when I bought them a couple of weeks back for my Windows 10 desktop). I have upgraded to 1.6 for each but the problem persists. Both programmes have an icc folder under resources but I cannot find Euroscale under either (I was hoping to maybe copy it from Photo to Designer). I wonder if it has been replaced by another profile with a different name. If so what is it. As a side issue is there a place on the website with version release notes as that would be a great place to look.
  5. Well, I need a clou here if I‘m just overlooking something or it is just currently not possible :) I made two different documents in Designer on my iMac: 1) CMYK with the Generic CMYK profile 2) CMYK und the ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) Now, for example, if I create a red object with 100M 100Y in the Generic document and it looks like it should. If I copy it and paste it into the ISO Coated document it converts the color appropriate to the other profile: for now 2C 95M 83Y 6K and looks surely different. In other programms like Illustrator, ... I have the option to paste with converting into the profile or use the color values – and that is what I am missing. It just converts every time to the profile instead to use the correct values or even giving me the choice. If I place the Generic document (with the place command) into the ISO Coated document and double click the now embedded object, it opens and show me correct the 100M 100Y values inside the ISO Coated document. It correctly converts only if I export it to PDF with the document profile. I can switch the profile in the document prefs and select asign or convert, but all things pasted via the clipboard get always converted. Ist there an option the preserve the values? Thanks for any help in advance. :-)
  6. Hello! I just made a business card to be printed by a local printing company with a online shop. On their website they recommend to use a bleed of 3mm and a specific color profile for cmyk (iso coated 300%). Installing the profile and setting the document to those settings are easy in designer! But at exporting I got some issues I do not understand completely, thats why I ask here: - In my document I have two artboards, one for front and one for back - I assume that the document settings are valid for all artboards in a document!? (color profile and bleed) - I exported my document as one PDF-file (with two sites in it, one for front and on for back). I exported as PDF x4, including bleed and crop marks, using the document color profile. - When I open the exported pdf (I work on a iMac), the pdf is of course bigger then the business card, because I added bleed and crop marcs, but the document is more then the 3mm bigger? why? The business card artboard is set to 85mm x 48mm and bleed is set to 3mm on each side...shouldn't be the exported PDF then 85+6mm x 54+6mm? When I set the view of the exported PDF to 100% the distance between the crop marks was correct, but the whole document was about 10mm bigger all around...no big issue, and maybe thats just a PDF-display thing, but I wanted to ask to understand whats going on here... - If i set a bleed, i cannot find a option to display the bleed around each artboard, maybe that would make things easier? - The second issue was, that the printing company told me that one of the two sides (remember, I exported one PDF out of one document) where in RGB...how can this be?? The only reason I can immagine are the inserted pics I used (made in affinity photo and exported as PNG in ROMM)...aren´t they converted to the document profile when placed in designer?? The file i added is the one I sent to my printing company... Thanks for some light into my darkness! Andreas VC - Anna - Endversion - soBestellt.pdf
  7. Hello all, I've only seen an old thread about this with no clear fix so I've decided to start a new one. As you can see in the attached image, my "white" in Affinity definitely is not "white" as in the rest of aplications in my computer (the Notepad there provides an example). I'm working on a second screen display, an AOC e2351Fh monitor, (although the issue persists even if I set windows to project only on the notebook screen, not sure if this really matters), my graphic card is a GeForce GTM870m, and my NVIDIA Control Panel settings seems to be correct (designer.exe is set to high performance NVIDIA processor). I could provide you with some screenshots of my monitor color profile but then you would have to tell me exactly what you want me to screenshot. Oh, and this is on Windows 10. That said, what should I do about this? Any tips? Thanks!
  8. Hello first let me congratulate you for the amazing ipad app, just loving it...fantastic work...I am running the Beta I am running into an issue though with exporting my tiff files for printing. I export them as 16 bit tiffs in the adobe RGB space because there is no Prophoto option ( where is it?) and adobe RGB seems to be the next best choice ... correct? the export files opens perfect in AP desktop but wether I try to print the file from the IPAD or export in Prophoto from AP desktop they do not print properly but look like closups of very heavy noise artifacts.... I am printing from COLORBURST OVERDRIVE that reads the file and shows a normal preview. Never had a problem with COLORBURST and AP desktop files What do you reckon and suggest??. I think it could be interesting to put together a tutorial about preferences both for AP desktop and AP Ipad
  9. I'm having an issue when exporting .png assets from Affinity Designer for use in a website. When Chrome (on Windows) displays the .png image, the color does not match the HEX value I've assigned in Affinity designer. Here's a quick example of a square that I made both in Affinity Designer and in Photoshop. Both have a hex value of #252E42. I embedded them both next to each other on a HTML page that also has a background-color of #252E42. I've attached the result. As you can see the rectangle exported from Photoshop is completely invisible, which is exactly what I expect. But the rectangle from Designer is clearly visible. What is going on here? Do I have to change some color profile settings in order to make this work?
  10. I don't know much about color formats and color profiles, so I could use some help. I have a project that I plan to get professionally printed. However, I tried printing on my home printer as well as FedEx Office and the colors are drastically different from my monitor (Dell UltraSharp U3415W PXF9 34" Curved LED-Lit Monitor). When printed, my purple looks like blue, and my light gray looks dark, etc. I have my document setup as Print-ready with CMYK/8 and all my colors have been created using the CMYK slider. This has been the case since I first started this document. So, I have a couple questions: 1. Am I doing something wrong? 2. What is a color profile? 3. How do I prevent this from happening when I get it professionally printed? (I think they want PDF, but may accept other formats) Thank you in advance! I attached a couple images of my Document Setup and CMYK Slider.
  11. Alright, I have to fix this mystery once and for all. I do not know what else needs to be done in order to fix this issue, however when I save my images in Affinity, they turn into a completely different colors when I import them on other programs such as a video editor. Now I open the same image and save it as the same file from Adobe Photoshop, and the colors are kept as the original (how it should look) Video demonstration of what I mean https://youtu.be/TcIIPjjtxE4
  12. We achieved accurate colors in offset (Ryobi 522) with ISO Coated v2 (ECI) color profile. How I can use it in Affinity?
  13. Hello, By executing the following steps: Import an Adobe RGB jpeg picture in Apple Photos, Edit the photo through the Affinity Photo extension "Edit in Affinity Photo" AP does not identify the color profile and it assigns the default one. If I simply open the picture with AP, the color profile it's managed correctly. Does Apple Photos purge the color profile data? Is there any other way to edit the file directly without using the "External Editors" extension? Thank you
  14. As in Photoshop may be very useful to have the possibility to create setting of ICC preferences, so is more quicker to change all the preferences. If you clone the ICC preference and behavior of Photoshop will be fantastic!! Ciao
  15. How to put a color profile as the default even after you close the program and reopen it? For since restart I have to change the profile.
  16. Question: When I download the Google Play badge as an EPS from Google (https://play.google.com/intl/en_us/badges/) and open it in Affinity, the colors are waaay off. Affinity pops up a message about the color profile being assigned, but I can't figure out how to switch the profile to just look normal. Any help in what I'm doing wrong here? I'm attaching a photo of the message, as well as a comparison from what it should look like to what I'm getting.
  17. Hi, I'm desperately trying to export to a PDF with embedded ICC profile (CMYK in some flavour). My document color space is CMYK/8, I have checked all the options similar to "PDF for export" in the export persona or the export menu, see first screenshot. Still, the PDFs which are created do not contain an ICC profile when I import them into inDesign (second screenshot) or when I open them in Preview. Designer 1.4.1 I got the feeling that I'm missing something very obvious. Any help is highly appreciated. Cheers, Jens
  18. In my preferences (v. 1.4.1), I have UNchecked "convert opened files to working space". (Importing a 16-bit Beta RGB TIFF (doesn't matter what file type or from where) exported from DxO Optics Pro, I get automatically converted to sRGB. I also get the dialog pop-up telling me it converted to sRGB because the imported file is unprofiled.) CORRECTION: If sRGB is imported into Affinity, I get the dialog popup telling me sRGB was automatically assigned because the file had no profile. If Beta RGB, or other, is imported, for instance, no conversion takes place (I assume) and I'll be working in Beta RGB space. Correct? Can you clear this up? Thank you.
  19. Just updated AP & AD to 1.4.1 and when I create a new document in either application the Profoto profile is not listed. However opening existing document when I go to Convert Profile, the Profoto profile is listed? Did something change with this update as I am sure I could create a new document using this color space. Running El Cap Version 10.11.3 Thanks Mike
  20. Why is my profile SRGB when I export when it was PROPHOTO RGB as I was editing in Affinity ???. Please find attached JPEG of my color profiles preferences Cheers!
