Arial MT keeps showing up in this document although I have deleted this font several month ago from my system https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/80898-where-are-my-arial-variants-gone/&tab=comments#comment-428159 Arial MT is now my [No style] character and paragraph DEF font. Any Idea how to get rid of it once for All

I'm not sure if this is a bug on the Affinity (or Adobe's?) suite, or something else I'm not understanding. I'm betting on something I don't understand so I'd like to hear a word from someone knowledgeable in fonts. I've noticed the character leading default value is smaller and variable in all Affinity apps, while on Adobe with value is larger and fixed. On Adobe's software, no matter what font you choose, you will always get the same default leading value for a certain font size. Let's always use 18 pt for clarity sake. So in Adobe you'll always have a (21.6 pt) character leading value for a 18 pt font size, regardless of the font chosen. On Affinity for a 18 pt font size the leading will normally be (18 pt) too, but this value varies with the font chosen. I've only seen it going higher than (18 pt), but normally just a few decimal points. For example some fonts have a leading of (18.6 pt), others (18.4 pt). I have noticed an outlier though, Gabriola has a huge (30.6 pt) leading. For what it's worth, the Affinity values seem a lot closer to what I'm seeing in LibreOffice, for example Gabriola has a huge leading value in both. I'm not sure what to make of this... anyone knowledgeable in fonts can help me understand what's going on? Thanks!

Mouse wheel scroll doesn't respond on the paragraph and character panels. You need to scroll dragging the scroll bar. Other panels (Layers, styles, color, etc.) are wheel scrollable without issues. Having in mind how long those two panels could be if all options expanded, this is a bit of nuisance. Specially on smaller screens.

I’ve noticed that I can draw a line (nothing to do with text) then change its properties and the Outline Style in the Character Studio changes. See attached GIF. Also, changes to the Stroke and/or Colour properties of the line change the Outline Style in the Character Studio too. I don’t think these things should be connected as the Line properties for a line/curve should not have any effect on Characters that the object does not have. Or, to put it another way, why is the Character studio showing changes to the Line properties of something that does not contain text? Or, to expand on that a bit, why are the Character/Paragraph/Text Style studios active at all when the layer does not contain text? Have I misunderstood something basic?

Publisher 1.7.0.238. It would be useful to a lot of users if the "Special characters and glyphs" page of the Help could give: * what each character looks like (if possible); * a short explanation of what it does, or what it can/should be used for; * a good visual example of where it has been used. Some characters are fairly self-explanatory - "Page Number", "Copyright", etc. - but some, such as (but not limited to) "Soft Hyphen", "Sixth Space", "Zero-Width Non-Joiner" and "Punctuation Space" are meaningless to people without a good DTP/printing background. I'm sure there are lots of explanations around the web but it would be nice if users didn't have to search for them. Obviously the Help isn't finished yet, but it would be a shame if this sort of useful information was omitted.

So Affinity Designer, as it turns out, has a lot of potential for cel animation work. You can create a decent enough animatic in the bitmap persona using layers for onion skin, then just stick it all together in your editor of choice. My only request - could we have an "export selected layers as PNGs" feature please? That would save me having to go through toggling transparency and exporting one-at-a-time. animatic_scene2.mp4

I been doodling up a storm.. here is one of my pieces of art.. Crystal Frost .. she love to fly in the night sky, however her father forbids her from flying especially at night, worried his daughter might be seen by other dragons or ponies that travel in the day and especially at night... Crystals father refuses to teach his daughter to fly, he needs her to stay out of sight to be safe. Not teaching her to fly keeps her grounded and gives him less to worry.. However she does try to imitate the wild creatures of the woods, it is from the birds she learns how to fly... one evening while her father was away, she wandered off into the woods where she finds a nest of young birds . watching them trying to fly, she tries to imitate the birds and try to fly, so she can follow and fly with them. She was so happy about what she learned she showed her father what she could do. Seeing his daughter fly for the first time made him very fearful and he lashed out in anger and scolded his Daughter never EVER to fly ever again... tearful, feeling she did something very wrong she promises never to fly again.. just a brief story I made up... However there is so much to Crystals life the is just so complex she struggles to understand why her father is the way he is, and life in general.., I also have 3 of my custom characters i made up, getting plush made by LionCubCreationsLCC. she is very skillful at custom plush... once they are made and arrive will post pics here of my characters in plush style.

Hi, I just started a new hashtag on Instagram: #affinityphotoillustration. I decided to do that because I am working on a picture book / app starting to use Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop. I will show some of my illustrations, all bitmap, no vectors, done in AP. It would be nice to see more illustrators using AP presenting art under the same #affinityphotoillustration tag. To get to now about you, to learn how you use this software and to get inspired from each other. See you on Instagram!

Hi all, I think it would be very convenient for Character styles to have a font size that is relative to the underlying Paragraph style’s font size, by addition, subtraction and even multiplication or division. A Character style’s font size could be expressed as -2 pt or +2 pt, for example. If the underlying Paragraph style’s font size is 14 pt, the Character style’s fonts size would result in respectively 12 pt or 16 pt in the aforementioned example. This is very convenient in for example optical adjustment of different typefaces, while keeping everything dynamic. If the Paragraph style’s font size changes, the Character style’s font size changes accordingly.
