    Animatic

So Affinity Designer, as it turns out, has a lot of potential for cel animation work. You can create a decent enough animatic in the bitmap persona using layers for onion skin, then just stick it all together in your editor of choice. My only request - could we have an "export selected layers as PNGs" feature please? That would save me having to go through toggling transparency and exporting one-at-a-time. animatic_scene2.mp4

Leicester is red Stilton is blue Who doesn't love melted cheese? Weirdos, that's who. A piece for instagram.
  3. Hello folks! Long time without posting here, but I promise I'll be checking more often since I've missed a lot that happened in the forums these past months! Today I wanna share a new character design tutorial we've just published a few days ago on our website. Hope you guys enjoy it and as always, any feedback would be more than welcome! Happy weekend! 4. Letters with a round form should extend past the grid line (see 2.png for correct alignment). AD aligns the rounded forms to the baseline instead (3.png). Grid 8 / 2 Text field height: 24 Leading/Baseline: 16 (illustrator) -4 (AD) I might be doing it the wrong way, so if there's another way of doing it, let me know.
  5. Version 1.5.2 Windows Not able to find the Character Panel from the Studio View even after Checked and Unchecked. Still does not solve the issue...? Pls anyone can respond..?
  6. Hi, I just started a new hashtag on Instagram: #affinityphotoillustration. I decided to do that because I am working on a picture book / app starting to use Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop. I will show some of my illustrations, all bitmap, no vectors, done in AP. It would be nice to see more illustrators using AP presenting art under the same #affinityphotoillustration tag. To get to now about you, to learn how you use this software and to get inspired from each other. See you on Instagram!
  7. Hello, just installed Affinity Photo 1.6.1.93. I just can´t open any of these panels: character, paragraph and glyph browser. I tried trhough the "Text" and "View/Studio..." menus. Neither of two ways are working... Thanks in advance.

    70s secret agents

I dunno where these guys came from, but I wouldn't mess with them if I were you. Especially her on the right.
  9. Affinity Designer doesn't arrange text correctly which contains English words and Han characters. The line-breaking after word Pattern is not expected. Here is what I found through my observation: windows 7 x64 Affinity Designer beta 1.5.0.36
  10. HI I found the problem with inserting the windows character <F0FF> from the wingdings font. Inserted with the character map turns into a tiny square. Copied form notpad, word, etc. in similar way. I know it's old symbol, but is still recognizable and useful in providing keyboard shortcuts. Wingdings font is on every computers. In the other case there is no problem inserting windows sign from Marlett font <F057> Robert
  11. Hi all, I think it would be very convenient for Character styles to have a font size that is relative to the underlying Paragraph style’s font size, by addition, subtraction and even multiplication or division. A Character style’s font size could be expressed as -2 pt or +2 pt, for example. If the underlying Paragraph style’s font size is 14 pt, the Character style’s fonts size would result in respectively 12 pt or 16 pt in the aforementioned example. This is very convenient in for example optical adjustment of different typefaces, while keeping everything dynamic. If the Paragraph style’s font size changes, the Character style’s font size changes accordingly.
  12. Hello there, A little bot-snail character that i made for a game i'm working on with a friend Affinity Designer + frankentoons + Spine Oh ! And i did a timelapse :D
  13. Work in progress... lights are kinda random right now.
  14. Hi all, a recent tutorial I did for Envatotutsplus on Affinity Designer is out. It's a step by step from start to finish type of tutorial of my basic workflow developing a fun Canine Cowboy character to a cartoony semi-realistic finish. It's an intermediate level tutorial so some knowledge of Designer is required. :-) Check it out at: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-detailed-beer-label-in-affinity-designer--cms-26010 Also checkout the attached image here for a preview of the final image. Have fun! Retrograde (aka Kevin Creative)
  15. Hey all, here's my latest all vector Designer character. A fun, cheeky and a little "nutty" cartoon squirrel character created for Nutty Squirrel Games, a client in San Francisco. Also, I decided it was time for a refresh on my Forum avatar. Love working on these types of illos in Designer!!
  16. Just a random royal black woman with a confident look
  17. While procrastinating for loads of work that I should've done like yesterday... I started to sketch this guy out... until the point it got finished haha... and that's the magic of procrastination... made with Designer :) Hope you like it!
  18. After almost 10 years of using mainly Illustrator... I'm trying really hard to get used to Affinity Designer. I really miss to be able to select nodes from different objects and to move handlers of a node symmetrically... but even tho I find that some features of AD are really sweet and really engourages me to keep learning. I'm really looking fordward to the 1.6 update :D and I'm glad I bought this nice software.
  19. First I want to say that you guys are literally the only ones who have made the Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro useful. Seriously, it's great execution on having appropriate adjustments and functions on the bar. Most app devs treat the bar like an after-thought and, if implemented appropriately (which it almost never is), it's quite useful. Something I'd love to see implemented is a more robust Touch Bar for the character menu. Currently there are only the three bold, italic, and underline options, all of which often aren't applicable for most fonts. I can imagine having things like tracking, leading, and font size dials available, perhaps with a few options like all-caps or small-caps. And while I wouldn't want the actual font-picker menu on the touch bar (way too much swiping), having a picker for font variations within a family would certainly be valuable (slightly less swiping). I can even imagine seeing ligature or Open-Type variants pop up when highlighting specific characters.
  20. Hello, I come here to show you my works in Affinity Designer. You can see interactive slider on top of pages. Tell me what you think
  21. Just a wild, crazy thought... why do paragraph and character have to be separate panels at all? Can't we have just one single, long panel with all text settings together. We could call it "Typography". If I'm editing text, I inevitably have both panels open at the same time anyway and it will remove some redundancy. Here's what I'm thinking: The same thing with colour and swatch panels. I also always have both of them open at the same time so they might as well be in the same panel like this... (Note the pull down menu for choosing different swatch display styles – small icon, big icon, list view etc. Just a little idea thrown in for good measure) Since your roadmap includes multiple fills and strokes, perhaps strokes & fills should also be crammed into 1 panel. I'm worried you're going to take Illustrator's approach to multiple fills & strokes... 1 panel for stroke 1 panel for fill 1 panel to list them to define which you have selected. and another panel for for effects, just for good measure?
  22. Hey guys! i coloured a doodle in Affinity photo using my wacom and thought it would be cool to share! You can have a look at the process here: http://www.behance.net/gallery/49651381/Acne Thank you! :D
  23. I've been lurking on the forums & getting my bearings with the Affinity suite for ... I actually don't want to look up when I bought these, because it's kind of embarrassing how long I've had them & haven't used them for much. But today when I was poking around, I ran across @frankentoon's awesome tutorials (specifically this one: http://www.frankentoon.com/single-post/2016/05/13/Toon-Lab-Course-2-a-simple-fantasy-creature ) and, well this happened:
  24. My Strawberry Monkey

    Ohhh, My Strawberry Monkey...

So... After a few trials and errors, I have the 3rd proof back from the printers. Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey started a little while back as single comic strips but felt it wasn't the right direction. So its turned into a Children's book (under 5's) it's aimed at pre-schoolers. There is so much more to the story and I'm sure I'll tell it one day. I wrote and put the book together in Affinity Designer and yes I'm looking forward to publisher, which no doubt would've helped but it worked. Anyway, the next step is to send a copy to a few publishers and I'm also considering self-publishing. There will also be a few copies available, so you lucky people get to experience the first, (hopefully) in a series of many. So if you've got young kids and would like a copy leave a comment...Thinking of you Matt P and Chris B... (Is this also the first Children's book to come out of Designer?) Allan
  25. The Background colour sliders in the Character panel will not update as you change the colour, see attached image to better understand what I mean. If the popup is closed and opened again the correct colour will show. Thanks!
