  1. Hi, Can anyone explain to me the difference between clip and unclip canvas. The two commands have (for so far I can see) the same result for my images; showing all the images (outside view after moving) and removing unwanted transparant pixels. Like to hear from you. Reik
  2. Hello! It's my first post here! Affinity Designer looks very promising, you have done great work! There's only couple key features thats' missing: - rotate canvas tool. This is must have feature if you are going to make affinity perfect for illustrators like me who uses Wacom cintiq and intuos. This feature works perfectly in Corel Painter (and pretty well in Sketchbook pro and PS) but there is no vector drawing software with this feature. I mean there's no way to draw naturally if you can't rotate canvas. - appearance panel (like in Ai). I use this feature all the time.
  3. Hi, I'm a heavy fireworks user and really liked que Affinity Designer. Here some suggestions that for me is kind of feature killers. 1 - Measure Rulers form perfect ui alignment and creating objects. 2 - Fit to Canvas (Clip Canvas) quick button (at the top maybe?) 3 - Snap panels at the bottom of the program UI. Here example image:
  4. Hello Affinity team, I cannot tell if this is by design or just an oversight in regards to Designer and Photo… I am unable to add any guides to the document while any tool is selected other than the black arrow move tool. While working and wanting to quickly throw in a guideline, I find it to be an interruption to have to switch a tool just to add a guide to a specific location, I feel like it should always be available to drag onto the canvas at (well, almost) anytime. If a tool other than the black arrow is selected, the ability to add guides does work using the guide manager as a workaround, however using the guide manager is not nearly as fluid and can be cumbersome compared to the natural maneuver of just dragging it in where you want it. Tested using latest builds as of July 25, 2015 Thank you
  5. :( :( :( Really does not sound hopefully. Serif told us even this year we get Publisher this year. Even the Designer is not finished for professional use and a complete CANVAS will start next month. If we get Publisher 2017 it will be finished 2020? …
  6. Context: I make assets for the web and mobile apps. I do not make my assets on a giant artboard. When you have a ton of images performance suffers, layers get janky, and all your eggs are in the one file. Slicing is time consuming. I want a single file that I can just export and be done. My A.D. usage = 60% of my work; PS + FW + AI = 40% - I'd love to be 100% A.D. because they've done a great job with it and I love it. Need: I want to be able set the canvas size with ease. To do this the A.D. needs the following... Request Visual crop tool - There is currently no way to crop that I could find other than to adjust the numbers... this is too hard. Trim Command - I could not find this one either. Auto-canvas size based on clipboard - Canvas size should look at clipboard and default to that size (cmd+n ... return ... cmd+v ... and I'm editing in PhotoShop) If you agree that this should be on the roadmap, like the post.. if not what am I missing? Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
  7. Hi, I'm laying out a website in Affinity Designer. I'm using a lot of black and so would like to lighten up the dark gray canvas around my layout to a lighter gray. I've looked around and can't figure out how to do this. Can I change the canvas color and how? Thanks
  8. Hi Can't find out how to copy sample color from canvas wile using brush or Fill tool. In PS it can be done by pressing Alt and copy or with eyedropper tool. p.s. in color pallet is eyedropper icon can't figure out what this for? http://monosnap.com/image/AQwgqrzL65B9iE5CNO9wzMObWTrf6Y ---------------------- Best regards Aleksander Tymchenko
  9. I absolutely love Affinity but right now there are still some tools that forbid me to completely leave Adobe. They are: - Crop Canvas (or Crop Document) - Trim Canvas - Resize Canvas - New document based on clipboard object (match size with the object on clipboard) Something to think about: - Responsive design / document states - I think there are no tools on the market that allow us to properly address this. It would be great to create different states for a document, this would allow us to reuse page elements and arrange them in different document sizes. This could then export to an html page that would allow us to show our clients how a responsive page would perform in different sizes. This export would have media queries and would change images for different window sizes. - Sprite sheets - Properly address the creation of sprite sheets, generate css, define hover, active states for sprites, etc. This would be really killer! Make this tools and you'll have all the new generation of designers going to Affinity (The old designers will stick with Photoshop till its death :) ). Thanks.
  10. In Adobe, I was able to see my work that was off the "art board". In AD, I can see the selection box showing it's there, but I can't see it. Sometimes I like to work away from project and then move into project. I've looked in preferences and view menu. Thanks. I am so in love with Affinity.
  11. Great work so far. Very impressed. Issue: 1) When creating images for stock I will generally create an illustration in AI, then when finished I drag that file into Photoshop. When photoshop opens I am prompted to set the overall size I want. Once open I output one image full size (JPEG). Pretty straight forward. 2) One site I upload to requires preview image of 380w x 400 h. So, I resize the illustration (in Photoshop) to one of these two dimensions (whichever is smaller) and then adjust the CANVAS size (either the height or width) to make up the difference. I then output the JPEG. Questions: 1) When opening the illustration in AP I don't have the option to select the image size that I want it to be. If I upsize the image after it opens, will I lose resolution or does it somehow resize like a vector? I tried to resize a test image (from a EPS vector file) and it looks pretty darn good so... 2) I can't seem to be be able to resize the canvas (so my image fits in the 380w x 400h area). Is this feature not active yet? What is the Unclip Canvas function do. Would this solve my #2 issues?
  12. Good evening, This afternoon I downloaded the beta version special made for mac, and it looks great!! But I have a question. I like to see my pictures like this http://www.plantennamen.info/blauw-glidkruid-scutellaria-galericulata When I used Photoshop in the past I made the canvas size 5 px bigger then the image size. I tried it with Affinity but how hard I tried it won't work. Can you tell me how I must do it? Regards, Maarten
  13. Pardon my ignorance and excuse me if this was asked before, I can't seem to find a good answer. I'm trying to develop a poster that'll be 20in by 24in. I've created my document and set my dimensions. My final product's EPS file is massive, which I understand will happen. Previously, I used Illustrator. I could resize the document and the items inside would scale appropriately. So then the resulting file would be smaller and easier to send to print. Right now if I resize the document, it just makes the document smaller and the current content sits in absolute positions wherever they were designed to be on a larger canvas. Is it possible that I'm missing something and someone could point me in the correct direction? Thanks a ton!
  14. Hi Guys, Not sure how everyones workflows are but I usually never work in the given document/canvas. Is this possible to turn on/off? when opening previous works they are invisible because lots of the attributes are off canvas. (hope this makes sense) cheers,
  15. To All, Are there any “Affinity Designer” (AD) users out there that have any experience with converting files created with the application “Canvas” and importing them into AD. I have a good friend in Australia (currently Perth) who is an architect and has been using Canvas for many many years to do renderings from home designs but has been stuck in OS X 10.6 for years because they stopped making Canvas available for the Mac after 10.6 and he does not want to lose all his efforts but now that I have been talking up AD he might just be ready to upgrade his Mac to 10.9 and AD. He has sent me several files that he has exported from Canvas directly in “EPS” format and so far I have been able to open all of them. Some things come in oddly but I would say 98% of items seems to be usable exactly as AD reads them in including things like groups, etc. Once he upgrades he will most likely lose the ability to use Canvas any longer so he wants to make extra sure he can export his files like into EPS and be able to read them all in in AD. Thanks in advance for any help along this way. Max 
  16. Would be great to have a tool to be able to resize canvas to all (selected) objects. Similar existing on illustrator.
  17. Hi Affinity team, Found out about affinity earlier today and immediately grabbed a copy. Really well done, congratulations :) So, I created a new file 1600px wide and added some guides. Then I had to resize the canvas (to let's say 2000px) and I realized that guides scaled as well. In the document setup preferences there's an option for objects (scale / anchor to page). Shouldn't there be an option for guides as well?
