  1. File included. Much effects, so very slow to edit: ButtonTypes01.afdesign
  2. If you have the layers panel to the right of the canvas, like in the default workspace, you need to move a larger distance to reach the layer visibility icon. Could they instead be moved all the way to the left when docked to the right hand side of the screen, so this distance is reduced?
  3. Hi, I’ve got a strange graphical issue on mouse hovering (more precisely happening when the mouse goes out of the button) and I can't figure it out! OS : Windows 11 PC is a Dell G5 5000 (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz // Nvidia RTX 3070) I've got a similar issue with one other software (Wally from ZSA, a keyboard flashing tool for QMK), which seems wierd I've got the same issu in Affinity Publisher I'd be glad if you'd had any idea 🙂 2021-12-27 13-48-46.mp4
  4. Hi So I've watched a few YouTube videos and have a pretty good idea how symbols work, but they're working in a different way than I need. Is what I'm trying to achieve possible? If so, how am I using Symbols incorrectly? What I'm trying to do: I have created a 'standard' button, to be used throughout the web app I'm designing, but also a smaller one for a mobile web app version. In both cases it's a rounded rect, with a text on top, which has a pre-defined Text Style. My issue is that I want to be able to change the look of all the buttons in one go i.e. size, shape, colour etc, HOWEVER, each button's text is unique. I do NOT want the text to be common across all of these button symbols. Yes, the font colour, style and positioning (central to it's button 'shape') but NOT the text characters themselves. Is this even possible or am I using symbols incorrectly? Thanks
  5. Default dialog buttons in sheets and modal windows are blank in Light UI Style on El Capitan. Same in Designer and in Photo. Publisher v1.8.6 from Serif Store, Designer & Photo v1.8.6 from Mac App Store.
  6. This is a minor UI bug that does not affect any functionality. When I was hovering over the title bar the icons of the close, minimize and zoom button only appeared when I was slightly above the actual buttons. This may be an issue because the title bar changed its height from Catalina to Big Sur. Bug occurred on: macOS version 11.0.1 (20B29) and Affinity Designer 1.8.6 (and Affinity Photo 1.8.6 + Affinity Publisher 1.8.6) afdesign_bug.mov
  7. Hi, Most of the time when i use the layer palette and when i want to enable/disable visibility of a layer, i have to constantly fight with the scroller (see my caps). It's kind of annoying because i have to wait or move/come back the mouse to be able to tick it. Dont you think that it would be nice to move those buttons a few to the left ? The same thing happens in designer too. Please forgive my crummy english :)
  8. Please add buttons for these when nothing is selected. In terms of workflow, they seem closely related to Document Setup. Like so:
  9. Hey guys, Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. When I go to increase insets for a table frame it does what it's supposed to do. But when I go to decrease the insets, it does the complete opposite. See clip below about what I mean. https://gfycat.com/gifs/detail/FixedOccasionalAmethystgemclam Thanks
  10. Sorry if this is a repeat, I tried to search for something in the same vein, and nothing came up. I recently upgraded my laptop to a Windows 2-in-1 compatible with the wacom ink pen (so I can look at my hand while I draw.) This puts me in tablet mode, and that's where there is a bit of a break down, as much of Affinity is in menus and hot keys, really. (Undo/redo, selection options, transform, etc) For now I'm thinking of trying at 180* setup (to remain in PC mode) with a mouse and wireless keyboard to the side, but I hope that in the future there will be a more touchscreen-friendly user interface for PC users. I imagine that the mac tablet product design could be ported to PC with relative ease? Even a custom toolbox that maps selected menu commands to a button would make a huge benefit. Also, an option to make the drawing window only recognize pen input would be lovely. (The note program Squid has something similar.) Hovering close enough to activate the pen recognition but not draw a dot before resting my palm is pretty tricky sometimes.
  11. I am excited to share with you the official announcement of my new Affinity Designer course on Lynda.com. It been out for a couple of weeks now and just getting around to sharing with those of you who might of missed it. Much of the course was based on the features found in Affinity 1.4, but I think their a good amount of tips and techniques in this short 1hr and 18 minute course. I made this course for the designer/developer who need to get up to speed on UX/UI specific tools and features fast. Anyway, check it out and again thank you all for your continued interest and support! CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE COURSE Course Description Learn how to incorporate Affinity Designer's features into your own design process. Here Ronnie McBride shows how to set up your preferences, use artboards, create custom color themes in the Swatches panel, apply styles and gradients, and create wire-frames, mock-ups, UI assets, and hero graphics—all with Affinity Designer's versatile tool set. Once you find out what you can do with Affinity Designer, you may never go back to expensive design software again. Topics include:Setting up your preferences and interface Creating new documents Using artboards Creating a wire-frame or mock-up Creating UI assets Exporting for prototyping ` Check out my other titles in my signature below.
  12. Hello guys, Just a humble suggestion for improving the user interface. I noticed that the toolbar has no hover effects on the tool-icons. This makes navigation a little bit less comfortable than on certain competition programs. I also noticed that the behavior of button is quite different from button to button. So what do you think of making a very subtle hover effect on the tools and buttons as you already have on (some of) the buttons in the top bar (beneath the menu)? Though the effect there is a little bit to weak, so I'd enchance it a little more. Some Buttons are great in that case (for example the little icons for layer effects, mask layer etc. in the layer panel but some don't have any (for example the dropdown-icon (opacity,...) or the 'Properties'-button in the stroke panel. I attached a little screenshot as an example for the hover effect. before (without (easy visible) hover effects): after (with (enhanced) hover effects): Cheers, Jay
  13. Hi guys! I just noticed, after all these months, that the Arrange pane toolbar button is lacking a feature that visually distinguishes it further from its simpler counterparts than just by its blue colouring; maybe a down-facing arrow, like the one at the right of the snapping button (except maybe smaller and closer to the icon itself, seeing that it would be integrated into the button) could do the trick?
