  1. Hi everyone, I downloaded the promotional brushes, and installed on my affinity for iPad. I noticed that they come with brush name in the list. How I can show my brush name in my custom library? I have many custom brushes created by myself, but every time it's hard to distinguish one from each other. I'd like to have a label with their names. Like I have with this new promotional brushes.
  2. I had a quick look to see if this had already been requested. My mild OCD makes me wince a little everytime I look at the brushes list and I can't do anything about sorting it, Macros I can live with by dragging :-)
  3. I have been making a brush based on an eyelash. What I am unable to understand is how the rotation setting is applied. I have tried variations between 0% and 50% with the setting screen showing the the curve of the eyelash being 'rotaed' as expected. However after applying the setting and going back to photo persona and selecting the brush, the lash is applied with original rotation setting, not the new (expected) setting. What am I doing wrong?
  4. Making available new set of isometric Raster Pattern Brushes some of which were used in the creation of 'Tin Man' 6 Packs (60 Brushes) Initial Brush Size to 100px Added 2 A4 sample sheets for reference [PDF] Enjoy! 5. On both design and photo, all the brushes I added before disappeared. Now, I'm trying to import them back but whenever I import them, it says it successfully added the brushes but they are nowhere to be found. What's happening and what should I do? Thanks! (I'm on mac by the way)
  6. Loving Affinity so far! A quirk I can't find any info on in this forum relates to the appearance of the brush head when using the Surface Pen. (I'm on a Windows 10 Surface Studio.) When selecting the overlay tool, my mouse's cursor will display the brush as I manipulate it around the file; when using the Pen it shows nothing -- though the tool itself still paints on the image. Any ideas? Thanks!
  7. Successfully imported brushes in affinity photo. cannot do the same in designer. tried the same steps, upper right hand side import brushes. They are photoshop brushes. can someone help? thanks

  9. Hi, I was just practicing with AD again and came across something I found interesting. I was trying to make pennywise using Affinity Designer and with his facial features he has some pretty iconic Eyebrows, I tried to use a custom brush which looked like this --- but When I dragged the brush it came out like normal. I was wondering if I could make a custom brush or use a tool that did exactly how this brush appears. thank you
  10. In AD, I'm noticing some of my imported brushes have an icon on the right side indicating the paint brush or the smear brush. And when that brush is selected it will force the corresponding tool. Brushes without that icon can be used according to which tool is previously selected. How does this work? I could find no mention of it in the documentation. How do you create brushes that pre-select the tool, and is there a way to change existing brushes to not have this behavior?
  11. Is there any way to extract textures from the brush files? I love the Daub brushes but some of them have errors in the textures. For example the Watercolor blender. At least one of the 3 brush nozzles is creating square artifacts. Its a shame because it would otherwise be a great brush. It would be great if I could extract it, fix it, and replace it.
  12. Hello, I am on my second day of AD and I'm enjoying it, but I have seem to run into a problem that is really bugging me. I have a vector object (red circle) on a layer with another layer nestled under it that is being used for brushes (white) in Pixel Persona so that the brushes are constrained to that object (red circle) only, and all this is on a white background. There seems to be an issue of the brushes not fully coloring the edges of the red object. You can see a thin red line at the outer perimeter of the red object. It's visible at all distances of zoom. There is also no stroke on the object. I've included screenshots of the thin line issue and how the layers are setup. How do I get rid of this? Is this common? Any ideas on a fix that isn't a janky work around? I'd like to be able to constrain the brushes to a specific object without having the unsightly edge. Thanks for your time, Rick
  13. How do I export custom brushes or the entire custom brush category to have a backup copy and improve it to other devices? I see how to import brushes in the brushes studio but I don’t see a way to import them. Thanks, Larry

  15. So I've imported a photoshop brush set into affinity photo but they don't act the way they do in photoshop. Two separate problems. 1) the light to dark as controlled by pressure in the same stroke seems very different. 2) the edges are jagged as hell in affinity photo. I've fiddled around with settings a bit and it seems that if I uncheck wet edges and set accumulation to pressure I can get a similar light to dark stroke. It still isn't as varied, but that could be operator error. However, nothing I've tried gives the smooth edge that it had in photoshop. I've attached a screenshot from a video (the guy who made these demoed them in photoshop) and then a screenshot of the same brush in affinity photo. I do not have access to photoshop. I'm only at 75% zoom in affinity--so it's not a matter of zooming in too far to cause the edge pixilation. Um, other than that I'm on a mac. OSX Maverick. If any other info is useful let me know. Thoughts?
  16. I have some tree and grass brushes that I've imported into Designer but they are all colored black. I've searched the forums for how to change the color of a brush, but couldn't find an answer that worked for me. I created a Recolour Adjustment layer and then tried to drag it in various positions in relation to the pixel layer the contains the brush image, but I couldn't get the color to change. I did notice that I could change the color using Styles, so I know this action must be possible. I just don't know how to do it. I'm attaching a screenshot of the file showing the brush and the layers I've created. I'm working on a Mac using OS El Capitan. Thanks.
  17. Adobe is giving away 1000 Brushes by renowed artist Kyle T. Webster, in ABR format. If anyone is interested (they don't behave exactly the same, tested on Photoshop Elements 10), here is the link for the download page: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/brushes.html Best regards! P. S.: I hope there are no legal problems with this. [UPDATE] I copy here my answer about Licensing for these brushes:
  18. Hi all, quick question for affinity photo on the iPad, is there any way export/ share the brushes within the app? There doesn't seem to be that function? If not, is that something that might be added later?
  19. Hello I'm quite new to Affinity Photo , and I don't know if there is an option to make and save your own ABR brushes . Is there a way to do so ? It would prove very helpful for a project I'm working on .
  20. I can't find the way of setting the brush style of a line drawn using the pen too. I can set the stroke color, width, cap, and the pressure.. and I can set the style as 'Solid Line Style' or 'Texture Line Style' -- but there doesn't seem to be a way of choosing which 'texture' is used..? Selecting the drawn path and then choosing a brush doesn't do anything.
  21. I got this question from Germany: "What I have a lot of trouble with are the vector brushes. Let's say I drew something using a brush, left the file for two weeks, and now I want to continue working on it or start a new drawing in the same look, that is, with the same brush. Then I'm somehow unable to figure out which brush I've actually used. In my brush panel, the one that I've used last, regardless of which file I use, is emphasized, which in any case leads to considerable confusion (unlike ai: I'll click the corresponding line in the document, and that for that one Line used brush is colored, so perfectly traceable even with multiple brushes in a document). No matter if I click on the curve in the layer panel or on the top of the context bar: I get into the menu to edit the brush, but nowhere stands, as the brush is called and from which category it comes. That's impossible?" I didn´t recognize this problem, but it is true. I can´t understand after a long time, which brush was used. It would be lovely if you can fix this Best Greetings Anke

  23. Hey! I've been using Affinity Designer for a while now and one the thing that bugs me the most is that the Brush Panel can't be expanded in order to show more brushes at a time in a grid orientation. I don't think the Affinity suite should follow Adobe in every step, but not being able to expand panels so that they show us more options at a time (like so) is a big problem. It becomes hard to have a proper brush palette at my disposal and hard to manage brushes and organise them. Is this on your future plans? Is this a known issue? Thanks
  24. I have created a category for my favourite brushes, but how do I add them there? On the desktop version I have to right-click, but how to do that on the iPad?
  25. ok, I was drawing a line using brush 64. I guess I should have left it alone and added a color overlay, but instead, I hit the color and changed it to what I wanted. After that I did not get the same effect. The brush was only 13.1 wide and not that fuzzy distressed look. I ended up just copying in the one line that was the way I wanted and pasting and rotating them into place. No matter what I tried I couldn't get the brush back the way it was. In fact, the more I tried, the worse things got until I had probably 6 brush 64s in the menu. I gave up and rebooted the computer. Started the program back up and I still can't get that brush back the way it was. Now it is .06 wide and just a black line. Obviously I have messed up something somewhere somehow. How do I fix this? What did I do wrong before (so I don't do THAT again)? Sig eye is the one where I got the first set of lines like I wanted after doing copy and paste. why is what is happening now after a reboot.
