  1. Hey there, this is more of a very very tiny feature request. If you change the brush softness (and size) via the ⌃+⌘-keys and mouse drag I noticed if the cursor is near the bottom of the screen you're literally bound by the hardwares edge – the adjustment stops there and you have to repeat the step if you want the brush to be softer. Maybe virtually expand the range of the cursor so one can click and drag further, or something? I don’t know. :) I’m not sure how else to describe it, but I hope you get what I’m talking about. Cheers Dennis
  2. Hi, I am unable to get any of my brushes to actually paint on the project I'm working on. Fill tool same. It's weird. What am I doing wrong? Is there some mask I'm unaware of? I'm probably doing something stupid, but any help would be appreciated.
  3. Christmas is coming... Made a few Textured brushes.. Zipped file (afbrushes) Below: Chritmas 2015 By William Mabey.afbrushes.zip Enjoy.... Cheers ヅ, Bill  FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/william.mabey Wednesday, November 25, 2015 9:10 PM
  4. Dear Affinity team To me there's a missing feature in APhoto: I would love more adjustments in brush preferences panel to structure / texture, such as scale, brightness and contrast. I love to change the interaction between texture and brushstrokes during painting. [Did a search first, no results to this topic] Canvas rotation is an other essential feature to me. This seems to be solved with the newest beta. Thank you. And congratulations to your well done apps. It’s fun to explore and compare it with PS, AI, Painter, ArtRage…
  5. http://createmoreamericas.wacom.com/portfolio/ Here are some really nice brushes. Look for the .abr files. Peace out :) Edit: They´re available in the pixel persona
  6. Hello, Is it possible to make Vector Brush Tool more predictable? Line width changes as soon as I release a button. Here's how it looks in Affinity Designer: And here's how brush pressure looks like in Photoshop: I use Wacom Intous 4 with Pressure Controller turned on. Here's brush settings:
  7. I had the need for a charcoal textured vector line and found no such texture in the default brushes that come with AD, so I watched some tutorials on creating my own textured vector brush. I did succeed, I might say, but have the feeling there are a few improvements the developers could make: I’d like an option to keep the size of the texture the same when changing the stroke size. Currently the texture (i. e. the image it’s based on) is scaling with the brush. I needed a relatively thin charcoal-style line but the texture was almost not visible anymore, so I had to go back an forth with exporting the properly sized image to use as texture for the exact stroke size I want. That’s not very flexible. Ideally a separate option to scale the texture inside the stroke would be awesome. And one can check a checkbox to either scale with stroke or stay as is. And related to that, I’d appreciate if actual vector graphics could be used as texture images for vector brushes, so that it doesn’t look blurry if the stroke size (and the pattern that is scaled with it) gets larger than the original image. Sorry if it turns out that there is already something like this implemented and I just didn’t see it. In that case kindly point me in the right direction.
  8. Hello I've just bought affinity designer, I use a intuos tablet, but there ir a problem with the pressure when using the brushes, what can I do? please help..
  9. Hi I'm a Dane trying out affinity. My problem is: our keyboards look different from the US keyboard (see attachment). We have three additional letters. I have found US shortcuts list and most of them works perfectly. BUT the increase/decrease brush size doesn't work as our three additional letters is placed where the shortcut should be. Is there another shortcut I can use? Or can I make my own shortcut? //Søren Bjerg
  10. Hi. When I an using tablet and moving pen very slow, brush is moving but does not draw some distance, and then bang! and draw straight line from start to current brush position. Like choppy drawing. When using mouse all is great, and when i moving pen fast all is good and smooth too. Look at screenshots please, I made similar drawing in two programs on one computer and tablet.
  11. When using the paintbrush, clicking on the canvas doesn't make a dot. I have to scribble the mouse/stylus around in order for a mark to appear. I'm guessing it has something to do with a smoothing effect (the same thing that causes a delay when writing with my stylus before the marks start appearing on the page), but I have no idea what settings to play with in order to adjust either of those (the delay & inability to draw a "dot") situations. Any ideas, forum participants?
  12. All brushes are invisble unless you type on the bracket keys or bring the pointer back to the tool bar...thank you!
  13. I suggest the implementation of "INERTIA" settings in both "Affinity DESIGNER"(especially) and "Affinity PHOTO";Alike you can change the behavior of tools in Artrage. so your curves etc. smooth out while you draw. Just like you would apply more pressure to the tool, which would normally have the effect in reality of not being able to move so fast. (Would be much easier to draw specific curves...(sry4myenglish)
  14. Can you please add Brush Hardness shortcut? (may be "Shift+[" and "Shift+]" like PS). It's very useful for Pixel Persona to create complex painting like my attached.
  15. Hello all! I am a new, excited user of Affinity photo. From the moment I realized what it was and the potential it had, I was excited to try it out in hopes of being able to ditch photoshop. The other night I started to do a retouch, the way I would normally do so in Photoshop, and I quickly ran into an issue with Affinity Photo: There is no way for me to control the opacity setting of the clone stamp tool or brush tool, with a wacom tablet. It allows me to control the sensitivity for the flow setting, but I *need* to be able to do the same with opacity, or else my retouch becomes sloppy and my workflow is slowed down. So far that is the only thing keeping me from making the switch completely. Everything else I have tried with Affinity is incredible, but that one little thing won't allow for me to ever be able to use Affinity the way I would need to in order to say goodbye to Adobe forever. Any chance of this being added down the pipeline? Thanks!
  16. Hi, I've finished my first drawing. It was great time to discover AD freehand drawing tools for me. I try to utilize AD as freehand drawing app. I love vector and raster mixing in one place. I've started with sketchbook photo and raster brushes to make composition sketch. Next part was vector drawing with Pen, Pencil and Brush. I think Pen tool is great and intuitive but freehand drawing was very painful for me and I here are my freehand drawing improvements. 1. It would be great to have something like Clean tool. It can be something like brush but with size and tolerance option. When you draw a path with Pencil or Brush it has more points when needed. Clean tool can help reduce points with given tolerance and path is clean and simple. Great inspiration is here 2. I think Pencil and Brush need redraw option. I mean, when path is active user can draw over and change it. It is very frustrating to draw part of image as one path, next part as next path etc. and connect them into one shape. 3. Because I can't clean or redraw my paths on the fly (1 & 2), I've tried to use brush, draw my shape, expand strokes and add them. It works but shape has so many points (it seems brush path is made from circles) and you can't use Pen to make quick changes. First you need to clean shape but it takes more time than drawing new one. I think expand stroke should give shape with needed points only. 4. It would be great to have vector eraser too. Sometimes it is fast and easy to erase part of shape. Best, Greg
  17. two easy ones: the numbers control the opacity shift + number (or something other) should control the flow and there is still the inconsistency that dragging the opacity of a layer e.g. dragging newt to the number box on the "Opacity" word does not change the value of the opacity as it does in other boxes...
  18. Is it possible to import brushes from photoshop? For example there are tons of brush collections on the web we might have gotten for photoshop that we might want to use in AD. Or even better to create a brush from an object we created? This might be useful when we want to use specific designed brushes. For example I was able to import the included brush into pixelmator or photoshop...but unable in AD. http://www.brusheezy.com/brushes/48401-herb-a-poils-grass-brushes-chapter-2-camisole-pictures-brushes
  19. I'm trying to highlight a finely selected area of an image. I tried in multiple ways and I'm hitting the same problem so maybe I'm not going the right way or missing something. I tried creating a new layer with soft light blend mode and using a brush I can highlight some areas. The problem is that whenever I paint over an older stroke I get more highlight. How can I deal with the overlapping areas? Same thing if I try to create a Quick Mask and paint the selection. If I try to fill the selection with a solid color, I see the overlapping strokes that I made in Quick Mask mode. Any suggestions about how I can make the strokes not overlap, but create one area?
  20. I wish there is a better and more precise cursor in the next update. (At least a crosshair option available) As in the attached gif file. It's hard to see the center point of the cursor and also the size of the brush related to my stylus pressure (I'm using Wacom tablet).
  21. In editing of brush can be used Angle and Tilt of stylus. But Angle uses only X axis of tilt of stylus and Tilt uses only Y axis. Is it feature or bug? I can't assign real tilt of stylus to brush. Any suggestions? Thanks
  22. Hi. New to Affinity Designer (and the forums.) I've been searching in the forums as well as the net, and I can't really figure out why the pressure-sensitivity isn't registering. I've tried to set my Controller set to both "Automatic" and "Pressure." Sometimes (rarely) it works - other times there is no obvious difference. I've also set the "Size Variance" to 100%. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  23. hi, what is a shortcut for increase or decrease the brush-size? i cant find them? the help I do not understand in photo affinity ;-( Shortcut (^) where is this on my mac - keyboard ?!??!?! thanks
  24. Right now, it is impossible to work in Affinity for real as it's missing many pro features. One of them is having my healing brush settings saved so that whenever I enable that tool it's left how I set it up - Brush shape, Current & Below, Align, etc. The solution with Brush window is not practical. I use very flat healing brush (1% shape) and it's not working in Affinity. Not only that, but also ALT-clicking is not responsive enough for a serious job. There's a tremendous lag, the cross hair is not shrinking accordingly to brush size. Also, optional tools that are located under J shortcut should require a shift to press in order not to switch on accidentally. Professional workflows show aim for speed and efficiency, neither of which Affinity Photo is providing in sufficient detail at the moment.
