  1. Hello All, I have been using Affinity on mac and now I baught it on windows. The brush panel that should contains default brush, on windows, seems to contains things (that can be selected) but everything is empty. Does someone know knows if this is a bug or if I do something wrong. Thank you
  2. Is there a way to disable the opacity shortcut when using the number keys (1-9)? I use Affinity software for digital painting and illustration, and I keep accidentally hitting '3' instead of 'E' for the eraser and changing my brush opacity to 30% by mistake. I've also assigned Cmd+1 and Cmd+2 to rotate my canvas left and right, but the same problem here - I keep accidentally changing my brush opacity in the process if I don't perfectly press Cmd together with the number key. I don't use the number keys to set opacity of my brush anyway, so I would love to disable and/or customise those shortcuts to accommodate my workflow better, but I can't seem to find those keys anywhere in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel. I wouldn't recommend removing this shortcut for those who use it, but perhaps having the option to customise it would be helpful? Thanks in advance.
  3. Running the current affinity designer 1.8.3, When I try to edit the vector brush settings in Affinity designer on Windows 10, the application freezes and I have to force quit. I've tried restarting the machine, new empty file to work from, etc... What should I do? Update: installed the Windows update and it seems to be working now...It still freezes at times every now and then but then recovers and I can keep moving forward.
  4. I have tried reading the other posts on getting the brush to work and I have tried several things. I reset brush. Checked and protect alpha is unticked under "more" everything appears to be normal I have selected a pixel layer Any other suggestions would be much appreciated I am on Mac, OS 10.15.4 Thanks!
  5. Hello evryone, I'm testing the Affinity Designer option for mostly doing illustration coming from Adobe Illustrator. One option very helpful which I'd love in Ai it's the Width Tool. I've been looking for similar option along a path on Affinity Designer, but couldn't find the same. There's "pressure" for a stroke but if using a brush or texture, it doesn't seem to do much. Now my question comes easily: How can I customise the width of a vector brush acting on single point as the width tool in Ai? Thanks for you help! Stay safe!
  6. Hi, i have problem whit brush-hardness shortcut (ctrl+options+ left mouse button) on my mac. When i push them cant change size and hardnes but move whole aplication. Thanks for any advice.
  7. Hello, I just purchased Affinity Photo for iPad Pro. I have planned to use it for the digital painting... However I run into the issue. When using the brush...line is blurry while I paint. (With any type of brush). When I stop it takes about 2 seconds for them to sharpen. So while I am painting I am constantly looking on blurred lines. This delay irritates my eyes. I can try to describe in other words: line look very pixelated while I am drawing but shortly after I stop it gets smoother. I was hoping to see if it’s some kind of settings that I have to change. Otherwise I have to return the purchase as it’s not usable for me. P.S. Interesting observation that Affinity Designer in the Pixel persona has no delay in the line sharpening. It’s same while I am drawing the line and after it. Thank you
  8. Hello, I just purchased all the three softwares but I have a problem with Affinity photo. When I try to paint using the default brushes, the brush leaves unpainted pixels if I draw two strokes side by side. When I paint the same area but I don't pickup my pen there are no white marks. I have attached a screenshot and video recording to show my problem. It looks very bad. It seems like when I try to paint where I have already painted, the brush limits painting within the boundary of the old brush stroke. screencast-nimbus-capture-2020_04.07-23_45_37.webm
  9. Is it possible to set brush opacity + brush flow with an Affinity Photo action or with a keyboard shortcut? This enables a quicker workflow if one can just toggle between e.g. 20% opacity 20% flow and then go back to 100% opacity 100% flow without having to change it every time manually. Thank you for your advice how to do this or to take the time to add it to your feature request list. 😃
  10. Hello! After upgrading to version 1.8, pressing and tilting the pen pen on an affine photo without windows ink turned on in the driver settings for the tablet driver stopped working for me. The problem is that when you turn on windows ink, the brush stops working normally. So the brush works in stabilization mode with obvious input delays. It is especially difficult to work with small details, now all small strokes appear with a large delay. I am using an xp-pen deco pro S tablet os windows 10
  11. Every time I change to anther brush and go back to the last brush used, the size resets to default. Is there a way to maintain the size of the brush? To maintain the size, I have to leave the brush properties open and change the size from there 😕.
  12. Hello - this is embarrassingly simple, but I'm new to affinity and have spent hours trawling the net to find an example of how to do it. I have a circle on the page and I want to manually colour it in with a brush - but I want to separate it from the background so that when I use the brush tool on the circle, the colour does not go outside of the edges of the circle. What's the approach for this? Does it need a layer mask? Big thanks!
  13. Hey Guys, I'm a fashion design student and I switched from Adobe Illustrator to Affinity Desginer. I don't want to use AD just for drawings but for technical drawings too. My problem: in Illustrator I had brushes for zippers and stitches. Everytime I drew a straight line I could change the brush into a zipper or a stitch but for AD there is nothing like this pre made brushes available (or haven't found it yet). So, is it possible that someone can explain me how I make this brushes in AD or it would be nice if someone do it for me I attached you the ad file with the pre made shapes This is how they look Thank you in advance Fashion Brushes.afdesign
  14. Basically, I'm fairly new to Affinity Designers and recently got a drawing tablet. When I use a mouse to use the vector brush tool it is not shifted/wobbly. But, when I draw the same line with my VEIKK A30 drawing tablet it is all wobbly and shaky. I know I don't have the stabilizer on but, I don't like the way it functions. (I know that's how stabilizers work and are behind the point of your pen but, why are they straight when drawn with the mouse.) Below, is a screenshot I took as an example. You can see the pen settings above in the bar so, please if you see anything wrong point it out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but, I see numerous videos of Affinity Designer on YouTube where they are drawing straight lines without the stabilizer on...
  15. Hi. Recently, I'm finding that Affinity Photo will suddenly stop recognizing the square bracket 'brush size +/-', after working fine for a long time during that session. I currently don't see any obvious trigger for the hotkey to stop working, and I'm hoping to spot it in the next few times it occurs. The keyboard itself continues to function, and all other hotkeys continue to work in AP. It's solely the brush size hotkeys. Nothing seems to restore it, other than restarting AP. 16. Hi, I tried searching within the FAQ section and could not find the answer. I have a couple Affinity Programs on different devices. My question is, if I were to buy multiple Brush products (such as Smoke & Cloud, Blast Powder, 102 Lightning, etc.) or other products - can that be used on all affinity programs I have on different devices, or is it per affinity program? If that question does not make sense, what I'm trying to ask is - is it a one-time purchase for all of my Affinity programs, even on different devices? I hope you understand my questions. Let me know at your earliest convenience. Thank you! Dalton
  17. When using the brush tool in Affinity apps I always get very odd brush size increments when using the square bracket ( [ ] ) keys to change the brush size. If I use a 10px brush and use "]" to size it up one increment, it doesn't go to the expected 15px, but rather to 11,5 px. And then, if I press the "[" key to size the brush back down to 10px from 11,5px, it randomly ends up at 9,8px (?). Pressing "]" three times from 9px results in 9px, 10,4px, 11,9px, and 13,7px, instead of the expected 9px, 10px, 15px, and 20px values. I find this a bit strange, as I feel that decimal pixel values for brush sizes make little to no difference, and it's just generally odd that using the square brackets to change brush sizes doesn't just use rounded increments - I hate mentioning Photoshop as a reference example, but if if ain't broke... For instance, using the brackets between the values 1px and 10px should only change the brush size in increments of 1px (1,2,3,4,5px...), anything between 10px and 50px should change in increments of 5px (10, 15, 20, 25, 30px...), anything between 50px and 100px should change in increments of 10px (50, 60, 70, 80, 90px...), anything between 100px and 200px should change in increments of 25px (100, 125, 150, 200px), then 50px, and anything above 300px should change in increments of 100px every time you press the square bracket(s). Is there a significance to these weird, decimal pixel increment values? If so, is there a way to change it back to something more normal/user friendly?

  20. Hey. So when using a mask layer I’m finding that I am erasing when I should be masking even when I haven’t selected the eraser. This may not be a bug, but just a setting, however it’s pretty annoying, any insight would be appreciated. Apart from this... great program 👌🏻🙏🏻

  23. Hi The paint brush tool works normally upon starting up Affinity Photo, but after executing actions such as changing the brush, color, or swapping to another tool and then back to the brush, the paint brush tool will often enter a state where it will allow me to draw only straight lines. The mouse itself it still able to move freely, but when attempting to draw even a simple curve, a straight line will be drawn instead, starting from where the mouse initially was and ending at where the mouse stopped. So far, the only solution I have to this is to close the application and start it again, which can be quite troublesome considering this issue happens every 5 to 10 minutes. I've even updated the application to the latest 1.7.2 update, but the same issue still happens.. I'm wondering if anyone is having the same issue? Or if there is any solution to this? Thanks!!
  24. Probably on my top 10 most used features in Illustrator is the stroke width tool, which allows you to adjust the width of the stroke at each anchor point. This can somewhat be achieved using the Pressure tab within the pen line settings, but it isn't nearly as precise. A couple of solutions might be: Add a stroke width tool to allow anchor points to be adjusted. Within the pressure panel, display a point on the graph for every anchor point from the shape. And allow these to be adjusted only vertically on the graph by holding shift, so that they stay on the anchor points. Create a new panel in the pen menu that allows for a numerical value to be entered in for stroke width. Thanks for listening.
