  1. I cannot get my pixels brush to paint anything in affinity designer. What am I doing wrong? I have the latest version 7.1. I have Windows 10 with plenty of space and ram, so that isn't the problem. I am new to this software, so I may be doing something wrong. Rosalie Scanlon
  2. I got a different problem now. I created a handwritten logo in procreate and imported it as a psd file to affinity. That works fine, but when i try to resize it to put it in a corner of a photo it gets really bad and you can see them pixel. What am I doing wrong here?
  3. I’m trying to figure out how to feather a brush, or add feathering to a current brush. The hardness/softness control doesn’t work as expected, if like most professionals, you’re coming from photoshop. 100% soft is not soft at all when using a basic brush, there is still a hard edge between stroke and empty. I especially use a feathered brush when painting masks to blend 2 objects. Please explain how to add feathering to a brush, if this is possible, meaning I’ve missed something. If it’s not possible please, please, for all the professionals coming from photoshop, add this feature immediately. Out of all the amazing features Affinity offers, I’m surprised such a simple but intensely used feature was missed. Thanks!
  4. Hi. so, as a vector stock seller i must be careful about the license. I have a question, Can all of affinity default brush be used to create a final product like vector stock or font making? Which all those artwork will be distributed as editable file and everyone can buy them. why i worry, because at time ago, i just tried to purchase a brush to create a font, and If i not wrong, the owner said that i can not use the brush for font making, and i must have extended / exclusive license or something if i wanna. that is hard and gave me a phobia. thank
  5. So sad that after so long since the last release it still has bug I've reported here: Please listen to me and watch the video - even the brush cursor is raw as it was! Or is it something in Cupertino you can't fix? Or is it just on my configuration and all others use photoshop to paint on such machine? I can use it too thanks to my job but personally I want to hold on Affinity! Thank you for your effort anyway. I'm aware that this is still beta.
  6. I am on the hunt for the best vector freehand-sketching tool with a high degree of input precision. I really want Affinity to be that for me, except I can't seem to find how to adjust the number of control points rendered for each stroke. What currently happens is that, despite stabilizer turned off, my lines are being too "simplified." For example, I do a lot of zigzag hatching in my work, which have very tight direction changes. After I release and the stroke is created, those acute angles kind of "bubble out" because AD is simplifying/smoothing my stroke into fewer points than I would like. Is there a way to change this, somehow? Thanks.
  7. Hi! I'm trying miserably to create a textured rainbow brush. I want the colors ROYGBIV to be stacked like a rainbow and not like stripes. Whe I do accomplish the rainbow effect, the brush always comes out chunky and straight. I've tried "new.....brush" and adding a garden to a brush strokes and placing a bitmap gradient on a bus stroke. Does anyone know how I could get a brush like stroke with a horizontal rainbow pattern?
  8. by my first try this version, I made a simple test square in red, go to pixel persona and use a frankentoon stamp, first there happen nothing, after some time the brush came up, try to close the brush, I could do nothing because the programm freeze, and had to close it otherwise. Have removed this version from system. OS.: windows 10 Leatest drivers. system: i5 4700 mhz memory: 28 gb Using: XPpen star 3B newest drivers. Windows Ink: on
  9. Affinity Photo Tutorial |Today! I am going to show you, How to create one of the most popular special effects in photo manipulation. Particle effects like dispersion and disintegration are always eye-catching. Particularly in the case of dispersion photo effect.
  10. Hi, whenever I switch into the different brush types, they suddenly disappear. Whenever I restart the app they appear again but once I switch away from the pencils, I only get one or two in the different sections and as I keep switching they completely disappear. I'm using an 10.5" iPad Pro with iOS 13.2.2, and affinity designer 1.7.3.1
  11. Hi, I'm new to Affinity, however, I've been using Adobe creative suite for years. I am having trouble with tapering brush ends. I've tried using the preset brushes, I've also tried altering the pressure, etc with no success. What am I doing wrong? I'm also experiencing problems expanding strokes, it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Any suggestions or good tutorials?
  12. A hotkey / modifier (like pan or zooming) for flow control would be a great addition to the software.
  13. As I've mentioned in this post, Affinity Designer's brush performance isn't all that great, but what's surprising me is that I've found out the issue is not present in Affinity Photo at all! I've recently purchased Affinity Photo while it was on sale, and immediately the brush performance seemed better, but I've tested it and it's a very significant difference! For this I've created an identical document on both Designer and Photo: 2800 x 2800 pixels @ 300DPI CMYK colour space using the same brush on both apps using the same colour, just in case same zoom level only one pixel layer same iPad Pro 9.7" (2016) obviously both apps running simultaneously If you look at the attached video then no further explanation is needed, the brush paints smoothly and fast on Photo, while on Designer it's rendered slower and in blocks of pixels, as if it's struggling to keep up. I think that covers it, but let me know if you need or want more information. Thanks! RPReplay_Final1573724065.mp4
  14. Every time I try to draw with Designer on Mac and iPad the curves I draw are instantly "corrected" after I finish. I've tried playing with settings of the application or the brushes but I couldn't find a way to just stop "correcting" my drawing strokes. Is this the expected behavior or is there a way to disable this? Please see an attached video of what I mean. Thanks. vector brush test.mov
  15. Hi! I'm very new to Affinity, but so far enjoying it as an alternative to Procreate. I bought a set of brushes and I've had no problem installing one, but I can't seem to import the other 3? When I go to import and select my file (no problem doing this, it says its downloading) it doesnt import and goes back to the automatic pre-installed pen section. Can anyone help please?! Thanks :)
  16. I just want true vector brushes that are textures that I can expand to points. Bummed to learn that only the default ones can be expanded to points/shapes.
  17. An olg bug or lack of feature is that we can't see which brush is selected. But I was able to look at its name when modifying it before. But with the last Bêta (AD and AP), I can only read: "Pinceau - selection / Brush - selection) when I modify a brush (or open its settings to look at its name)! The name of the brush, and why not the category should be display on the brush' settings panel (Category - name). An option to keep the same brush, same size, etc. with the different Brush Tools would be nice too, since it's when I needed to know which brushes I was using with the other Tools. (And spend time selecting and resizing other brushes). Improvements to the Brushes would be: Displaying the name of the selected brush when modifying it Highlight of the selected brush in the brushes panel An option in the context toolbar to keep the same brush with same setting (size, opacity, flow…) when switching brush tools If those options were available, I would have spend less time selecting and adjusting brushes in my last works!
  18. I'm confused about a function I accidentally activated and do not know how to switch back. My brush tool doesn't provide its usual strokes. Whenever I make a stroke the cursor shows itself as a plus sign, a red line and a blue circle. Something unfamiliar to me and it puzzles me. Would someone please tell me what this function is supposed to do? And how do I get back my regular brush? Many thanks!
  19. Okay so I have this problem on the latest AD version where I have a brush that needs everytime I open AD, the accumulation has to be at 100% to work, but when I increase the % to 100 and click save, restarting the AD, and it's still at 0% and I have to do this everytime I open AD to use the brush. (I have a pack from Frankentoon's brushes)
  20. Once a brush with wet edges is selected, the option "Wet Edges" in the Context Menu will always re-check itself every time I pick a brush. I can turn it off and paint with the currently selected brush, but once I change it, the option Wet Edges turns itself back on automatically. Even if the newly selected brush doesn't have the feature Wet Edges set on in its settings. I have looked it up and found a thread talking about this bug but it was a old (in the pre-1.7 forum) and I thought I should re-open the case since we're post-1.7.
  21. This really surprise me. I've been trying Mirroring but instantly I heard all the power of my fans, was really weird cause when I'm using Blender is really silent. So, I launched the task manager and... look that! All the work is over my CPU, meanwhile my Quadro is just yawning! So I wonder, if this is a this a bug
  22. Hello! I am a very happy convert from Photoshop to Affinity except for one thing: the brush tool settings. Photoshop still is a lot better with these because of their more sophisticated brush tool modification options. I am thinking specifically about dual brush, brush pose, and build up, which don't seem to be available in Affinity photo. I recently bought a set of .abr brushes to compare and contrast the import success between Photoshop and AP, and I'm sorry to say that while Photoshop was able to accommodate some really nice subtle effects (I just want a nice, natural inking brush. There are a million great "big wash" brushes for affinity, but I can't find good liners for the life of me!) that were set into the .abr files, but Affinity imported them as regular round brushes with a noise texture on them, which looked awful! I would really like: 1. to be given some actually helpful tutorials on how to create natural-looking brushes in Affinity (I've had a heck of a time trying to find what I'm looking for. People make tutorials for really silly, goofy brushes, but nothing really practical for fine art!) 2. For the Affinity brush settings to be upgraded to be more competitive with the Photoshop brush settings. 3. For AP to be able to import .abr brushes properly without cutting out the settings and ruining the brush. Thanks for hearing me out! Again, I am LOVING the program for the most part, but I'm just not able to do inking on this program to the level that I want, because of these settings issues. ~K
  23. Can I cycle through brush nozzles before dabbing my canvas? If I go to the Affinity photo brushes panel. Spray-paints, Spray 7 brush has 7 nozzles. I want to dab my canvas with these sploshes. But Affinity Photo applies the 7 different nozzle splosh shapes randomly. So I do not have any control of how my artwork will look. I can rotate the brush nozzle using the left and right arrow keys. BUT! When several nozzles are available for one brush. Is there a way to cycle through the brush nozzles and choose a specific nozzle, before I dab my canvas?
  24. I used Affinity version 1.7.3.481 for window 10 64 bit. Graphic Card Geforce GTX 970 I found this error. It happen most of the time I do this procedure. I draw some sketch with brush. Then I open chrome browser and see some web page. Then I draw again in Affinity photo. The brush behave strangely . The brush strokes are all straight line. I can't draw freely it always appear straight line. This error is resolved by save and close the drawing and reopen the drawing. Then error completely gone. Please fix this error .
