In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create a different „Color Splash Effect. It is a composition with real embedded color splatters. I'm not a paint artist and my intention is to inspire for other, different projects following this procedure. Have fun and post me your results. 3. I'm having a recent issue with my cloning brush tool, in that while I can set a source, the closer I bring the brush to a light source or brighter area, the darker it becomes when used, regardless of the selection. Conversely, the further I take my selection away from light/bright areas, the brighter it becomes. I'm kind of at a loss here .... thanks for input!
  4. Hi there. I tried to draw sth with Affinity Designer. When I choose a brush from the menu on the right, than use Brush or Pen to draw sth it does not looks like the Brush I choose. What am I doing wrong?
  5. what do you reckon is the best maintenance tip to reset the brush and avoid bugs ? thank you
  6. i feel that pressure stroke effect should for brush and pencil tool also
  7. Would be great to see a right click to edit the active brush as you paint. And could also be to change out brushes as you paint too.
  8. Hey there, this is more of a very very tiny feature request. If you change the brush softness (and size) via the ⌃+⌘-keys and mouse drag I noticed if the cursor is near the bottom of the screen you're literally bound by the hardwares edge – the adjustment stops there and you have to repeat the step if you want the brush to be softer. Maybe virtually expand the range of the cursor so one can click and drag further, or something? I don’t know. :) I’m not sure how else to describe it, but I hope you get what I’m talking about. Cheers Dennis
  9. Hi, I am unable to get any of my brushes to actually paint on the project I'm working on. Fill tool same. It's weird. What am I doing wrong? Is there some mask I'm unaware of? I'm probably doing something stupid, but any help would be appreciated.
  10. Dear Affinity team To me there's a missing feature in APhoto: I would love more adjustments in brush preferences panel to structure / texture, such as scale, brightness and contrast. I love to change the interaction between texture and brushstrokes during painting. [Did a search first, no results to this topic] Canvas rotation is an other essential feature to me. This seems to be solved with the newest beta. Thank you. And congratulations to your well done apps. It’s fun to explore and compare it with PS, AI, Painter, ArtRage…

  12. Hello, Is it possible to make Vector Brush Tool more predictable? Line width changes as soon as I release a button. Here's how it looks in Affinity Designer: And here's how brush pressure looks like in Photoshop: I use Wacom Intous 4 with Pressure Controller turned on. Here's brush settings:
  13. I have acquired quite a few really solid photoshop brush tool presets over the years but I haven't found a way to use them either Affinity product. Is there something I am missing or is this not currently supported? Any plans to add compatibility? Thanks!
  14. I had the need for a charcoal textured vector line and found no such texture in the default brushes that come with AD, so I watched some tutorials on creating my own textured vector brush. I did succeed, I might say, but have the feeling there are a few improvements the developers could make: I’d like an option to keep the size of the texture the same when changing the stroke size. Currently the texture (i. e. the image it’s based on) is scaling with the brush. I needed a relatively thin charcoal-style line but the texture was almost not visible anymore, so I had to go back an forth with exporting the properly sized image to use as texture for the exact stroke size I want. That’s not very flexible. Ideally a separate option to scale the texture inside the stroke would be awesome. And one can check a checkbox to either scale with stroke or stay as is. And related to that, I’d appreciate if actual vector graphics could be used as texture images for vector brushes, so that it doesn’t look blurry if the stroke size (and the pattern that is scaled with it) gets larger than the original image. Sorry if it turns out that there is already something like this implemented and I just didn’t see it. In that case kindly point me in the right direction.
  15. Hee guys, I am new here, fairly new to the Affinity Designer program. I'm running into a little problem over here about brushes. When I'm in pixel mode and try to change the hardness of my brush into a softer brush, the brush won't change hardness.. Anyone got a tip for me? Thanks in advance
  16. Hi I'm a Dane trying out affinity. My problem is: our keyboards look different from the US keyboard (see attachment). We have three additional letters. I have found US shortcuts list and most of them works perfectly. BUT the increase/decrease brush size doesn't work as our three additional letters is placed where the shortcut should be. Is there another shortcut I can use? Or can I make my own shortcut? //Søren Bjerg
  17. Hello I've just bought affinity designer, I use a intuos tablet, but there ir a problem with the pressure when using the brushes, what can I do? please help..
  18. Hi. When I an using tablet and moving pen very slow, brush is moving but does not draw some distance, and then bang! and draw straight line from start to current brush position. Like choppy drawing. When using mouse all is great, and when i moving pen fast all is good and smooth too. Look at screenshots please, I made similar drawing in two programs on one computer and tablet.
  19. I suggest the implementation of "INERTIA" settings in both "Affinity DESIGNER"(especially) and "Affinity PHOTO";Alike you can change the behavior of tools in Artrage. so your curves etc. smooth out while you draw. Just like you would apply more pressure to the tool, which would normally have the effect in reality of not being able to move so fast. (Would be much easier to draw specific curves...(sry4myenglish)
  20. All brushes are invisble unless you type on the bracket keys or bring the pointer back to the tool bar...thank you!
  21. When using the paintbrush, clicking on the canvas doesn't make a dot. I have to scribble the mouse/stylus around in order for a mark to appear. I'm guessing it has something to do with a smoothing effect (the same thing that causes a delay when writing with my stylus before the marks start appearing on the page), but I have no idea what settings to play with in order to adjust either of those (the delay & inability to draw a "dot") situations. Any ideas, forum participants?
  22. Can you please add Brush Hardness shortcut? (may be "Shift+[" and "Shift+]" like PS). It's very useful for Pixel Persona to create complex painting like my attached.
  23. Hello all! I am a new, excited user of Affinity photo. From the moment I realized what it was and the potential it had, I was excited to try it out in hopes of being able to ditch photoshop. The other night I started to do a retouch, the way I would normally do so in Photoshop, and I quickly ran into an issue with Affinity Photo: There is no way for me to control the opacity setting of the clone stamp tool or brush tool, with a wacom tablet. It allows me to control the sensitivity for the flow setting, but I *need* to be able to do the same with opacity, or else my retouch becomes sloppy and my workflow is slowed down. So far that is the only thing keeping me from making the switch completely. Everything else I have tried with Affinity is incredible, but that one little thing won't allow for me to ever be able to use Affinity the way I would need to in order to say goodbye to Adobe forever. Any chance of this being added down the pipeline? Thanks!
  24. two easy ones: the numbers control the opacity shift + number (or something other) should control the flow and there is still the inconsistency that dragging the opacity of a layer e.g. dragging newt to the number box on the "Opacity" word does not change the value of the opacity as it does in other boxes...
