  1. Hello Affinity Team, it would be cool if Affinity Photo users where able to paint flow maps/vector maps inside of Affinity Photo. The brush for that would need to change its colour according to the direction its painted. http://graphicsrunner.blogspot.de/2010/08/water-using-flow-maps.html http://teckartist.com/?page_id=107 two examples how the resulting painted image would affect other images; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCYM_h3OEno https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbztUX_blDA
  2. Hi, i tried using the undo brush tool. I made that on a tiff with two layers. Background is a B&W Conversion flattened above is one curve layer taking some adjustments. I thought i can use it with different blendmodes blending together with the underlying layer or the last snapshot. Now, surprise surprise ... if i use the brush , the strokes bring back the COLOR information... I do not know why this is possible because i have no color information in any of the layers -> everything is converted in B&W. What do i or cannot understand ? Any suggestions ? Thank you for some answers !
  3. I would like to request a tiling pattern tool and also something akin to the blob brush, but with more control would be a very useful addition? Cheers!
  4. For Affinity Photo: There is an option to put a + sign in the center of the Selection Brush Tool. Would it be possible so that this sign is changed to the minus "-" sign whenever you switch the subtract mode? The reason I asked for this the Selection Brush Tool seems to start in the mode it was last used it. I believe that most of the time when you start the Selection Brush Tool you want to be in Add mode. If in fact the Selection Brush Tool is in subtract mode then you have a visual clue so that you know to switch the setting. Thanks
  5. Hello, I am requesting these two features 1 - The ability to scale shapes that are using corner tool without losing their actual shape. see this post for more details. 2- Having brushes fill the whole shape's stroke without a gap at the beginning. see this post for more details and thank you :)
  6. Hello everyone! Do you know if there is a way to record changes made to brushes? It would be nice to be able to just click on a macro to set, for example, 120px, 25% opaque, 100% flow, 50% hardness. Best wishes, Shu
  7. its impossible to set in the current versions of Ad & Ap the brackets [ and ] in the keyboard shortcut settings for changing the brush sizes on a German Mac OS. Even the program itself is set to english. Its it a know problem for a long time. Will this be tackled in the coming update?
  8. A lot of art programs like Paint Tool Sai/ Clip Studio use the shortcut combo "CTRL + ALT" and a drag to change your brush size quick and easily. I'm not sure how hard this will be to implement into Photo/Designer; but it would be a really great feature for people looking to freelance with the brush/pen tool and with tools like the Selection brush tool.
  9. Since I don't want to mark everthing I don't get within AP as a bug I post my question here ... maybe someone has got an idea ... (Final Version 1.5.1.54, AP Windows) Dealing with this picture. There's only one pixel layer visible and activated, The paintbrush is selected. The mixmode is normal and selected colours are black & white as can bee seen in the tool panel. Now painting on the pixel layer with the brush gives my this result (painting in white): switching to black looks like this: I have no idea what goes wrong ... Maybe someone can help. Cheers, Timo
  10. Sorry but this is important to me. I know this feature has been requested before. But I have a reason to repeat this: I love Affinity Designer. Except for its lack of brush smoothing that drives me crazy. Meaning: when drawing w/ a Wacom tablet, the strokes are all wiggly and wobbly. Can we fix this? I'm willing to do whatever it takes, so that people around the world using your product can have this feature. Hire me for $10/month to do this. Autodesk Graphic (formerly iDraw) has it. Illustrator has it. Functioning brush tool is quite basic feature of a vector drawing program. I know you have priorities. I know you can't do everything at once. I know you have an existing feature roadmap. But this feature has been requested time after time, starting from 2014. Please get it done. Again, if I need to work on it for free or for a coffee, I'm ready to do it. Let's get this done. I'm 100% serious. Contact me anytime, and I'll jump working on this on a 24 hours notice. You have help. You have demand for this feature – guys, it's time. Let's get this feature on Affinity Designer. Waiting for your reply.
  11. Hello, I purchased my copy of Affinity Designer this morning and I'm having fun using it. Whilst I was experimenting with the software I was struggling to change the outline of a vector shape. I wanted it to have a textured outline. For example I drew an oval, switched to Pixel Persona, clicked Line, Texture Line Style then Properties but all of the options are greyed out (General, Dynamics, Texture) I've attached a few pictures for you to look at. Am I doing something wrong? Keep up the great work Cheers
  12. Hi there, i'd really like to see a brush stabilizer in Affinity Photo for an even better painting experience. Something like it's integrated in Manga/Clip Studio or as it's available as a Photoshop plugin: http://lazynezumi.com best regards
  13. Not sure if it's already planned. It would be nice to have a fade brush option, similar to fade filter.
  14. Hello, I have just bought Affinity Photo, so please let me know if this feature already exists. What I'd like is a feature that Photoshop has where you can change the shape and rotation of round brushes to be ellipses in any direction or degree. The reason I ask for this is that I do some concept art and this feature allows me to have easy and time saving control over the perspective of the things I'm drawing. Although I think the Photoshop version could do with a lot of improvements, it's still very useful. I would also like to see the 'More' brush options appear if the RMB is tapped as this would save time, particularly if it incorporated the feature asked for here and I find it odd that nothing seems to be attached to the RMB tap. Am I missing something? Very neat software so far, I will continue to work around the issues until I find some solution. Thank you, Berbank
  15. 1. How to change rulers units? 2. How to move rulers center point? 3. I have layers A, B, C alt+left mouse button on layer A = layer A is only visible layer If I want to restore all other layers than I have to choose another layer from the list and than back to layer A. Is that purposeful or it's an AP "error"? 4. In photoshop I can change brush size with shortcut: alt+ drag right mouse button. Is it possible to enable that function in AP?
  16. I brought Affinity Photo for retouching and drawing illustrations. I think it would be awesome that AP got brush stabilizer feature. Photoshop doesn't have such feature and it make AP special, I think. Best regards.
  17. I have acquired quite a few really solid photoshop brush tool presets over the years but I haven't found a way to use them either Affinity product. Is there something I am missing or is this not currently supported? Any plans to add compatibility? Thanks!
  18. Would love a Roll brush in affinity photo, which is a brush where your custom brush shape is deformed along the stroke curve. Here's a video of the Zbrush "Roll Brush"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY2_EPG-zWY This is similar to the "Angle Jitter -> Direction", except this feature only rotates the custom brush along the stroke direction. The Roll brush actually deforms the stamp in that direction. This would let you create stuff like stitches on clothing, tentacles, texture on a tree branch, wires, all sort of things that are currently not possible. - Neil
  19. Currently the pressure of the stroke's brush can be configured in a separate panel as seen in the attached image. Especially for more complex curves I find it very hard to adjust the graph in the panel to correctly match the segments of the curve. It would be really great to have a tool that shows the control points of the pressure graph directly on the canvas next to the spline so that the thickness of the path can adjusted in an immediate feedback loop. I imagine the controls something like in the second attached file.
  20. Thank you VERY much for bringing professional software at a price we freelancers can afford. I have noticed very interesting features, like shift click for joining the line from the last stroke ending, this is great for inking workflows. Overall am seeing the software is really advanced, one of the criteria to label it as fully professional is that I am seeing a very complete support of color profiles, ability to work in CMYK mode, color profiles support, and a large etc. I'm really interested in the new affinity applications. That said, some more useful feedback now. Testing it with the activity that keeps me more busy: painting. I am a raster based illustrator, a digital artist. I have some issues with the brush engine, I'm afraid. When zoomed out and painting fast or slow (the usual hardware limitation tends to be that a fast stroke shows jitter, but this is mainly related to the hardware, as in: Apple Pencil has no jitter(such a jewell), Wacom devices have little jitter, and MS Surface has quite jitter, including its latest Studio. ). I know my Wacom Intuos PRO XL has little jitter, much less than what Photo produces when zoomed out. tested in a A4 canvas at 300 dpi, CMYK file, FOGRA39 color profile. If I zoom in, and paint the lines then, the trembling/jittery line becomes not so noticeable, even quite good. But i need to be able to work in zoomed out, seeing the full A4 -or other sizes- as is a must for good composition, or for quite a number of situations. Another problem I found is it seems as if it is updating constantly the strokes, like pixelizing it always that a device is moving, even without painting. This ends up quite distracting while drawing. is like constantly trembling, as updates like every second or less. I have also noticed, like others, that the preview brush lags when hovering, goes behind the cursor. Not a big issue, but... (the jitter is the biggest problem I see in the whole application) Even at 100%, and in lines which were painted zoomed in, and that shows no jitter, it makes something like a preview or something, that the lines borders are not very clean, like with small artifacts. This can be an issue too, for an illustrator. Not so important, when the brush is big, like 380 pixels, the preview circle of the brush kind of shows a marque around when moving, and some times if the pen is steady, disappears totally. Again, these two issues are smaller in importance than then jitter, to me, the showstopper here. If that huge preview of the brush circle is lagging the stroke, I'd suggest that like in other package one could opt for setting to see there just a small cursor, with shape of a brush, or a small triangle, etc. As optional in preferences, of course. It could be quite more comfortable than the trembling smooth circle. And speaking of more unimportant , things of a beta, but I mention here so to help also in this: In the Spanish translation, is a bit non intuitive to name "Estudio" something that would much better be called "Panel" or "Paneles", Quite similar meaning to the word "panel", in English, but surely better idea to set it in plural. In other packages, for this specific matter they would put simply "mostrar" ("show" in English). Estudios is used for the actual meaning of "Studio" or "Essay", or "studies". Oh, I'm speaking about the menu View (Vista), and in there, the deployable menu under the guides manager, where says "Estudios", and actually pops a menu with the panels character brushes, macro, etc... Also noticed that there's actual lag, noticed when zooming in to 57.2% and trying to write small text. (or anything detailed/small) IMO, is due to the starting stroke lag, like if there it processes something and causes that delay, and the start of any stroke. Is some 1/100s of a second, but it removes quite some control and speed over the drawing, making much more difficult to draw small details. My machine is a very old one, so I have the doubt if some of these issues would disappear with a much more powerful machine, but then, other 2D softwares, open source and commercial, do not have any of these issues... :). Anyway, these are most surely typical beta status kind of issues, that's why beta versions do exist ! :) Machine specs: Core i7 860 ( intel processor is from 2009. Is a quad core with hyper threading (8 threads)), 2.8 Ghz. 8 gb ram (of that time). Nvidia GTX 275 graphic card. HD Seagate 7200 rpm. Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bits. Works quite well with high end software, many layers print files, etc. I'm actually quite sure is issues with the brush engine, but providing all specs, anyway. I totally love the idea, that you brought the version to a massive market like Windows, I like the UI, many solutions good for workflow. If the brush engine does not change in a final version, am still very interested in its color/image adjustment capabilities, supporting so many professional specs and needs, and price philosophy (very freelance/indy friendly) , that's why I'm doing such large report. Of course, I have found a lot of nice things in the software, but for polishing a beta, IMHO is more useful reporting the issues. :) One nice thing of the brush engine : Seems to catch a wide range of pressure, from very fine to thicker, more than some other high end packages. Attaching images about the issues, I hope my bad writing on-screen is readable... Oh, forgot to mention: My desktop screen size is 1920 x 108 (native). Drawing at a zoom of 23%, so to see well the A4 page margins, work in global view, which is essential. Zooming in and painting, so, painting at a zoom of 57.2 % Screen of a zoom-in in to examine those strokes made at 57.2 % (so, looking at them in a 136,6 % zoom ) Actually painting at that zoom, 136,6 %. The lines are pretty smoother, now. When looking at 100% zoom, the lines which are indeed, in reality, smooth, those painted at zoom 136,6%, in zoom 100% are seen like pixeled, a bit "artifact-ish" Really hoping this can be useful, as a feedback. :) EDIT: One tiny thing more, when entering in advanced brush settings, I believe that where you say "Acumulación" (Spanish), you might actually better put "Opacidad" as it is in the interface setting. (Opacidad = opacity) EDIT 2 : I wanted to check extremes, so I tried the experiment very zoomed out. Actually I never would draw at a 12% or so zoom, but to test the mechanic of the issue. Worked at several software companies, it usually helped catching issues :). As you can see, is the zoom what makes it loose accuracy -when drawing zoomed out- the more jaggy lines are the ones drawn slower, at the same zoom level :
  21. Feature Request: Brush - Selection General: Spacing: at the moment the maximum is 200%, allow a maximum up to 1000% Dynamics: Scatter X / Y: at the moment maximum is 400%. allow a maximum up to 2000%
  22. Hi there, I noticed that the brush blending mode, despite being available even when painting on an alpha channel, it seems doesn't produce any effect. Simple case: I want to quickly correct a luma matte, painting over some gray values with a brush using black color in overlay mode, in order to affect only the gray areas without compromising the white matte.
  23. I downloaded Affinity Photo this weekend and it has been working fine. While going through tutorials today the Selection Brush Tool quit working. All other tools as far as I know are still working. Any ideas? It is working now. I believe when using the Add and Subtract tabs to adjust an area I was outlining with the Selection Brush Tool, the Subtract tab was left on. I clicked the Add tab and the Brush Tool is working again. This is something anyone could do without realizing it.
  24. Hello, is there a plan to advance the brush options like they are in Photoshop? Regards, Martin
  25. Hi, "reset brushes" button seems to work fine, but I have got info that it doesn't: failed to restore brushes.afphoto failed to restore brushes.afphoto
