I've got a strange problem with the blemish removal tool that has appeared recently. Previously if I put the circle of the brush over a blemish and then dragged it to another part of the photo, then whatever was being picked by the brush would appear over the blemish. Now the part of the photo that appears over the blemish comes from an area of the photo some distance away from the brush. In some ways it is behaving like a healing brush tool. Recent events on the computer, a desktop imac are the addition of a plugin, Neatimage and uploading a new version of Big Sur. I reset Affinity so that the plugin did not appears in the filter menu, but this made no difference. I don't know if I've accidentally altered a setting, but it's a tool that I've used many, many times in the past with no problems. Any thoughts? Thanks, Graham

I've watched a bunch of the tutorial videos, but can't seem to find a way to do what I want. Basically, I want to create a set of healing- / cloning-type adjustments on an adjustment layer, to preserve them independently of the pixels from which they were originally derived and to which they were originally applied. I want to do this so that, for example, if I fix facial blemishes on a portrait, or clean up its background, but then decide I want to change the underlying raw conversion (which I do in another program, and export as a 16-bit TIFF), I don't have to start over and redo my facial retouching. Ideally, I could have a 'zit fix adjustment layer', a 'background cloning adjustment layer', and just copy those adjustment layers and drop them on top of a new, differently-raw-converted TIFF. I have to think others want similar capability, and that it probably exists, but I can't figure out how to get at it. Thanks!

Hello, I am new to Affinity and the forum and have a basic question. If I add a pixel layer over my background, I am unable to use the Blemish Removal Tool. I notice that the Current Layer & Below is not given as an option with the Blemish tool as it is with the Healing Brush Tool which does work with the pixel layer. Is there a way to use the Blemish tool with a pixel layer over the background layer?

The Healing Brush, Patch, Blemish Removal and Inpainting Tools will not work after I apply a layer. For example, I attempted to use the Frequency Separation as outlined in the Affinity tutorial: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/ As soon as I applied the Frequency Separation Filter, however, the tools would not work. I followed the instructions to the letter and every time I added a layer the tools stopped working. I had the same issue whenever I opened and worked with other layers. The tools only worked if I used them on my photo before opening any layers. What am I missing or doing wrong?
