  1. Letters with a round form should extend past the grid line (see 2.png for correct alignment). AD aligns the rounded forms to the baseline instead (3.png). Grid 8 / 2 Text field height: 24 Leading/Baseline: 16 (illustrator) -4 (AD) I might be doing it the wrong way, so if there's another way of doing it, let me know.
  2. Hi, I'm using Publisher 2 on two computers and I'm finding on some documents when I create on one PC then open later on the other that the text has moved vertically within the text box. I've checked baseline positioning in the character panel on both PCs and both are set to 0 - although I can correct for the issue by changing this value. Is there anything else that could be causing this? Thanks.
  3. Can anyone help me? Finding this hard to understand. Affinity_Publisher_Grid_Baseline_Question.mov
  4. Hello! I’d love to see an option to define the first baseline in a text frame – especially as "line height". The default seems to be some ascent height, which however depends on the font selected. So having two text frames next to each other with similar content (the same sequence of line heights) and just the font of the first line being different, it is very difficult to synchronize the baselines of the two text frames. The baseline grid is no good solution, as (if you have varying line heights) you have to disable it for all subsequent paragraphs, and further it is applied to not just the first line, but all lines of the first paragraph. Another "solution" for the described scenario would be to have an empty 1pt first line. Yet I would rather call both ways workarounds, not solutions. I’m very much used to this from InDesign: Looking forward to your thoughts! ––– EDIT: Summary of our discussion (thanks, Old Bruce!) ––– A viable solution for the scenarios I can think of seems to be a baseline grid based on a common denominator of the used font sizes (granted that there be one, which however contributes to good design anyway). (Also see the second screenshot in this post: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/106014-define-first-baseline-in-text-frame/&tab=comments#comment-572592) Still my feature request remains, as it would be a quicker approach in many cases.
  5. Text in an independent panel using a text style that has "Align to Baseline Grid" selected but does not align to the baseline. The text frame panel has "Use baseline grid" not selectable. How do I fix this?
  6. When text is highlighted and the subscript shortcut key (Command, Option, control, down arrow) is pressed there is no effect. The menu dropdown works fine, and the superscript shortcut key works, but the subscript shortcut does not.
  7. Hey Affinity guys, Thanks for all your hard work and creating this lovely, lovely suite. Ive purchased all three pieces of software and love them so far BUT there is one thing ive noticed in Publisher, it might seem small but I loved the feature and have grown very fond of it with my typography layout …. 1: I need and cant find the option on the baseline grid to trap my baseline within the outer margin (from left to right) so the baseline is NOT visible outside the set margin (top, bottom, side to side). It is an option in Indesign and I was very fond of it, it makes my working document look cleaner and helps me see how objects will float outside the 'no go' margin areas in my working doc. Please can we have this tool added. Thankyouuuuuuuuuu
  8. Publisher 1.7.0.145 Launch Publisher Create a new document from the default settings Baseline Grid Manager > enable Use Baseline Grid Snapping Manager > enable Snap to baseline grid Save your blank document Quit Publisher Reopen Publisher by double-clicking the test document saved a moment ago The Snap to baseline grid option has been turned back off, although the other settings remain as they were previously. It doesn't seem to matter if you use View > Snapping Manager, or the Snapping controller in the toolbar across the top of the workspace.
  9. If I use a negative baseline value, I have to click on the original place of the baseline to select it.
  10. Hi, The line (~~~~~~~) under the mispelling word is align on baseline (like a line-height too big).
  11. For the Baseline Grid Manager, there is the option to start the baseline relative to 'Top of Spread', 'Top of Page', or 'Top of Margin'. I have it set to top of margin, which should start it at the start of my margin (as it goes in the ID example, in orange). However, it still starts it at the top of the page (Publisher example in purple).
  12. In the Help file, it is not possible to select the entry under Design Aids > Baseline grids. However, entering "Baseline Grids" as a search does to the Baseline grids page.
  13. Hello, As part of an ongoing research to baseline grid composition, my colleague and I recently made Fitbaseline, a calculator that distributes the baseline grid over the document height. This is especially convenient when designing a document with fixed sizes (for example in print) in which you want to evenly distribute the baseline grid. Although we developed a version that applies the calculation automatically for Adobe InDesign, the online calculator is application agnostic so it can be used with Affinity too. However, it would be great to see this concept implemented in Affinity applications such as the upcoming Publisher. I'll make a feature request for this soon. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Bauke
  14. Hi I'm very impressed by the grid manager of Designer, and I'm having extra high hopes for Publisher's grid manager. Adobe InDesign has a disappointing grid system out of the box, but there is a top notch commercial plugin for making grids for professional magazine and book design made by a Swedish art director. You can view some videos about it here: https://designersbookshop.com/grid-calculator-pro-edition.html It would be great if Publisher had a comparable grid manager. Please let me know what you think! 15. I am a web developer and I am use to create my mockups in photoshop. I need to create a grid pattern based in the bootstrap grid system, where the columns are 81px wide with a gap of 31px in between. I have created this pattern already. Now I need to create the baseline patterns. It is any way I can create a line, or a shape, or a layer, to repeat systematically from top to bottom? The lines has to be 27px apart from each other. I attached a screenshot and you will see a very thin and dark line that has to repeat all the way down every 27px. And the question once again; It is a way I can create an auto repeat pattern?
  16. It looks like text baseline caps at -59? I really needed it to go farther than that.
