Hi, I just wonder whether there is an easy way in Affinity Designer (1.5.2 on Windows) to turn the background of an imported GIF file transparent? I've created a sketch comprising several elements spread all over the document. Now I want to import a greyscale GIF with a white background. My goal is to turn just the white background transparent without using masks or the selection brush. Is there a way to tell AD to remove the background of just the GIF with a few clicks? Thanks for your help! sillycat.afdesign

Hi, Could you please help me with my task? I would like to cut out the object from the background. Let's say I have a vector icon of flower and I want to cut it out of the background. So the result I want is a cut out space in the shape of a flower in the background. I hope I wrote it understandable. I expect that it will be very simple but I really can't figure out how to do it

Quick and simple question guys... What is the best/most efficient way to reduce the outer dimensions of this document, while MAINTAINING the size of the logo image within it?...masking?...cropping? Not sure what direction to go. I attached a copy of the file for your viewing. My desired end result is a thin border around the outer edge of the white curved corner portion of the logo. Thanks! -Christo (sorry for all the newbie questions) @christovw66ComebackROUNDEDprimary2.afdesign

HI, I am a newbie and am gradually working my way through all the tutorials. I have watched the one on refining, however, I struggle to create a good 'fur edge' with my hairy cavalier! I seem to end up with block feet, please could you advise on a process for me to get a better result. I am pretty rubbish at this!!! Many thanks B

(Picture attached) I selected the subject (which is a person), and blurred out the the background. However, when I blur out the background surrounding the subject, another surrounding blurred marks appears on edges of the subject outside of the selection, which I do not like. I want to get rid of these marks around edges in order to make the subject look sharper.

HI dear affinity dev team, very good job, i dont miss illustrator and sketch at all ;) but what keeps me from working late nite is the bright canvas background. would really love if i can change the white around my artboards to something darker. best, pascal

Dear Affinity Developers, I was wondering... Could isolating and extracting subjects / objects become easier if there was an option to go directly to the Black & White Alpha Channel, select all the black areas, delete it, thus leaving the white to create the perfect cut out no matter how complex? It was just a thought... Best wishes & good intentions :)

Hi, I really like this software and use it to record my drawings and publish videos. I would like to stick where I am drawing to the background instead of it floating. So like sticking the white paper to the dark background. When I record, I can see some jumps due to my mouse moving to press other buttons. Is this possible please? Thanks.

In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you from my serie photo optimization how to improve a photo. There are no great effects, but many details which hopefully improve the result. In this landscape photo, I show how to improve a background with haze and dust from valley to valley. Viel Spaß / have fun Ciao Jack Foto / photo: eigenes / self made YouTube-Video

Hi, When I'm exporting a file as svg in the export persona, the file somehow contains a background layer even though no such thing was defined. I tried different svg options but seem unable to get rid of that layer without manually removing it in another application. Attached is an example AD file and SVG file. Or am I just missing something in the settings. Sample.svg Sample.afdesign

Under Preferences > General > Language will not stick after a restart. Place items on the desktop and you cannot see the items. You have to draw over the area to 'find' them. The inability to change the black of the menu's and toolbars needs to be change The black pulls you eyes out it is so hard. Help is also faulty in that the text won't resize to the screen size.

I have attached a jpeg of the picture I am working on. I used a white backdrop but I want to change the backdrop to bright white. There must be a way I can select a range of colors (the off-white of the backdrop) on the picture and then change only those colors to bright white. How do I do this? Thanks Noblenutria

Hi. I've attached a picture. The background rectangle is set to black, but appears as dark grey when I use a black glow on the photo. I want the black glow of the edge of the photo to disappear seamlessly into the black rectangular background. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I frequently need to create fairly light coloured designs, and that is a royal pain* on a transparent or white background, especially if parts of what I do need transparency. At present I draw a page-size box, colour it and lock it in the background (to stop it from being selected), but this feels a kludge - did I miss something? Is there an alternative to "white" for a non-transparent background? Is there a way in which I can set an alternative colour for the drawing background? Even just changing the grey boxes in the white-and-grey boxes that represent a transparent background would be a help. The idea is thus to define an alternative for what remains transparent in export. Cheers, P * presidential pain for nations without royalty :)

Tackle down object in foreground (the lamp) by stacking works fine. With only two pictures, the bike light has almost completely been removed. Hot to do the opposite? I tried 1000 things, but now I am running out of ideas. Pictures are originally raw, but size is to big to upload here. The result is not as perfect with the jpg's, but still ok. Foreground: Background: The pictures are shot on tripod, so for stacking no Auto nor Live are necessary: Any suggestions, how I can remove the BACKground with stacking? Any help appreciated! :) Cheers, Roland

Dear all, as seen in the Beetle Builder Example, I am wondering how I can move a Background to the combined three Artboards, (The Leaflet's Artboards, Panel, Back and Front). Or do I have to cut some background in three equal parts and move them separately? :)
