  1. Hello world, Does anyone know how to align a these circles on a path or stroke ? Thank you
  2. Hello Affinity, With the help of @Old Bruce I managed to copy circles on a path, and align the circles using the text tool. It is not as user-friendly to modify the space of the circles using the characters tracking. It is like a sort of a hack way to aligning shapes to paths. I thought it would be nice to add a separate feature for aligning shapes on paths. Also add the pattern feature too, so we don't manually repeat patterns. I know I ask too much but you guys are awesome. Thank you, text-path-align.afdesign
  3. Each Affinity software has alignment option which is great. But it'd be much better if we can have a separate panel for it which we can dock anywhere as we wish. Currently we've to click on the alignment icon each and every time when we need it, and that's kind of boring. What do you think friends?
  4. Hi, I've been working with Affinity Designer for a few weeks now. Coming from Adobe Suite CS6 there's is a lot I like about Affinity Designer, but also a few things that would make working in AD just that little bit better. One of those things is that Align and Distribute doesn't have its own panel. Maybe it Align and Distribute could be combined with the Transform panel (see image) ... or just could have a panel on it own. greetings, Ivo
  5. First of all, I find affinity designer awesome and I cannot wait to be able to completely switch from the bloated, overprice 'mud brick' rental packages. However for this to happen, I would need to have better vector graph alignment tools. In particular, I would need to be able to select a 'key object' that stays put while the other objects are aligned relative to the key object. Also, it would be great if one could select multiple nodes (inkl. a key node) and align them. The snapping function works great but sometimes it is just not enough... Anything like this planned anytime soon? Thanks Lars
  6. Is there an easy way to center an image to the center of an artboard? I like to center it vertical and horizontal. I expected some aligning/snapping settings to apply. But that doesn't seem to do that. I've setup a document, type web. The image is inserted using File > Place.
  7. Hello, Happens in both Publisher 1.7.2.471, and Publisher BETA 1.7.3.475. Windows 10. Dell 7530 Precision laptop. Have come across a bug in my workflow when aligning and grouping the aligned items. I have attached 5 images to show the steps and results. Here is a step by step to reproduce: New document. Place 3 objects on the canvas. Select all three items Select the Alignment button at top middle of screen (above ruler) In the Align Horizontally section, select Selection Bounds Select Space Horizontally In the Align Vertically section, select Selection Bounds Select Align Middle Don't hit the OK button yet. Items are now aligned and spaced as expected. On the keyboard, group those items using Control-G Items jump back to original layout, unaligned and unspaced. Now hit the OK button. The unaligned and unspaced items now jump down the page and are Aligned Middle to the spread. It is step 10, Grouping the items before hitting the OK button to close the Alignment panel. Let me know if you need further explanation. Lynn
  8. Not sure if this is a bug per se, but the behavior definitely changed in the last release of AD as far as alignment goes. Say I want to align two objects on their left side. Expected behavior: AD ought to move the RIGHTMOST object so it aligns with the leftmost object. Current behavior: AD moves the LEFTMOST object to the rightmost object. Of course this same behavior should happen for top, bottom and right alignment as well. Thanks for all you do! AD 1.7 is a BEAST!
  9. In Affinity 1.6.7 and previous versions both the align and magnetic tools where in the top bar, now in 1.7 I cannot find it anywhere, I did find the align tool but sadly not as easily accessable as in the previous version where are my tools :( ?
  10. Hi, I would like to align (snap) to objects that have different angles. Basically I have a geometric figure (a triangle) and I would like to add a rectangle to its border, but I'm not able to match the angles. Any idea ? Thank you for your help
  11. None of the three align modes have any effect in Publisher. Stroke is aligned center, no matter wich mode is selected.
  12. I was wanting to align nodes, but there didn't seem to be an ability to align them relative to each other on the same curve. I have been using Inkscape, and I wanted to purchase Affinity designer, but there seems to be a few things that don't seem to be there that I wish there was, including the ability to align nodes. It would be nice if there was an "Insert node at middle point" to insert new nodes right between two existing nodes on the same curve. Is there any way to do this? Also, I find that manipulating nodes doesn't offer a lot of precise control. Is there a way to move bezier handles relative (exactly) to the x axis, y axis, or 45 degrees without it being in that position originally? Shift only constrains it to moving along the path it was already on... Which is useful, but sometimes I want it to be along the x axis instead, and there is not exact way of doing this it seems. Another thing... Is there an inset feature? It would be really handy to have, when you want to shrink something down, but not proportionally, so that it leaves the same amount of space around each side. Anyways, I'm just using the trial version to test it out before I actually buy it. I am currently really loving Affinity Designer, as it puts a lot of focus on making the designing experience as fluid and dynamic as possible, however it seems to be missing quite a few features that Inkscape has which is messing up my workflow and making me hesitant to purchase Affinity designer. I've only been using it for a few days so I could just be missing some things. Also, I am LOVING the drawing tool (SO much better than Inkscape's) but is there any way of modifying the pressure along the curve AFTER you have drawn it? Sometimes I draw it with my drawing tablet, but I mess up the pressure at a certain part, and I would just want a little more control over the dynamics of the curve. Thanks!
  13. Hi ! Is there a way to display automatic guiding lines when moving a text/image/object to align it with other blocks ? Thanks
  14. Hi, Try to horizontal align a PNG transparent image with the crop tool, but as soon as I click save the image flips back in the previous position. How do I achieve this in AP? Regards & Thanks, David
  15. I don't know if there is a reason this isn't possible or if I am missing something, but I can't get the plane set of any grid type but isometric to align with each other. When I make an isometric projection of a cube every plane of the grid just aligns and all the faces of the cube can join like this: But when I make a dimetric projection the planes don't align with each other and the faces of the cube can't align with the grid: I know I can just join the faces together anyway, but then the cube wouldn't align with the whole plane set. I don't know if this is possible, but I think a solution would be to shift the plane consisting of the first and up axis, and the plane consisting of the second and up axis down or up to align with the plane consisting of the first and second axis. I also found this topic about the same problem, but the solution given there is to alter the spacing of the up axis instead of shifting the whole plane. This would also alter the proportions:
  16. Here is a strange development. I select the design element I want to rotate to the left and the WHOLE document shifts on the screen. The item I selected does not move. I did not select the small circle to rotate the design element, used the right-click menu for rotation. see attached screen shot.
  17. In playing around in recreating a template I currently use in InDesign, I noticed there's no option to set up Text Styles to align the text towards/away from the spine. This would be a hugely helpful for setting layout for large multi-page documents!
  18. I can't found how to align 2 or more points (or anchor points)... I am newbie and i think it is very simple and obvious....but i can't find the way to do it... Can someone help me? Thanks Antonio
  19. I am pretty new to AP and still learning my way around. I need some advice on how to handle an alignment problem. i’ve shot a moonrise over the skyline of a big city. The moon was almost full and very low in the sky, just over the top of the skyscrapers. It was 40 minutes after sunset, so it was already quite dark. So, I took about 8 shots at various shutter speeds so that I would have several bracketed around the correct exposure for the moon and several more bracketed around the correct exposure for the skyline. With so many shots, and with the extra delay for mirror lockup for each shot, it took over a minute to snap all the photos. As a result, the moon moved quite a bit over the set of shots. if I don’t auto align, then the buildings stack perfectly and make a very nice hdr composite, but the moon is a disaster. If I manage to get them to align the moon, then the buildings would become blurry. in a perfect world, i guess I would separate the sky from the city, merge the stack of sky pieces, merge the stack of ciy pieces, then put the 2 merged pieces back together somehow. any suggestions?
  20. Love the way artboards behave, but I'd like to have more control when inserting, aligning etc.
  21. Hi guys, I attached a file showing the bug. Basically, if you have a shape, and you apply a stroke to it and align the stroke inside the object, a thin part of the fill will still be visible outside the stroke, on top and bottom. edit: this bug takes place only if the X or Y coordinates are not whole pixels. The whole pixels thingie is a bit annoying, aligning to middle for example does not respect whole pixels, nor does the text (resizing in points for example) Cheers, Chris stroke-inside.afdesign
  22. I just upgraded to the latest release of Designer and Photo yesterday and now I can't seem to find any way of equally distributing objects in either! The other align tools are still there. Am I going mad?
  23. Hi guys, I have recently switched my whole research group from using AI to using Affinity Designer. However, the thing that every single user heavily complained about, and that really limits the utility of AffinityDesigner for us, is the lack of an option to select a key or reference object that stays put during alignment and distribution operations. This is very crucial for the preparation of scientific data plots where one really cannot have the data points shifting around when aligning them to their labels. It would also be very helpful for preparing multi-paneled figure etc. Also, while at it, a 'select same color/stroke/fill/...' feature would be great, and the eyedropper tool could use some attention (eg. for text and vector objects) Please make these available, and I will promise, that there will be a landslide of scientists moving away from their current overpriced rental software to using Affinity Designer Thanks Lars
  24. Finally I had time to play more with AD and here my two biggest gripes atm: 1. Why on earth keyboard shortcuts to align/distribute don't respect settings? In dropodown window I have set for example "last selcted" and from there it works as it should, but keyboard shortcut or even button on toolbar ignores this and always aligns to selection bounds. Also last selected object is inversly detected when selecting by click and drag. 2. When resizing text by diagonal handle, default behavior is to scale it proportionally, but when resizing other objects to do so I must hold Shift - it's very unintuitive
