    A quickie for instagram

Animated in After Effects admittedly, but all the artwork was created in Affinity Designer. It's all possible, you just need to think about the workflow a little bit. TV_kid.mp4
  4. Hi everyone, I'm trying to move these circles to all be an equal distance from each other as well as the points of the triangle, it doesn't seem possible with the snapping system and I have no clue how to move them the way I want, can anyone help? I've attached a screenshot Thanks
  5. So I'm trying to use a few triangles on a larger triangle, using compounds to try and flatten the vertices of a triangle, this works well on 2 vertices but leaves an artefact on the 3rd, the screenshots should show it and nothing I've tried so far has gotten rid of it; editing curves, making another triangle, etc. I should also mention that this artefact remains after I export it into PNG format for example
  6. Hey guys, it seems, that I got a bug with affinity designer and 144hz since the 1.6.4.104. Before the update the program feels like 144hz - smooth and clear visible while I was moving something. And yesterday I noticed that the program feels like 60hz - laggy and not that smooth, just annoying. I always think that Affinity Designer is lagging. Some of the 144hz users out there should understand my problem of useing 60hz instead of 144 ^^. Is there any way to fix the "bug"? If necessary: PC: i7 4770k (non OC), GTX 970, 8gb RAM Monitor: Acer XF240h Greetings, rashi

  8. Hello, I recently downloaded the 10-day trial version of Affinity. While I had this trial, I was working on a project of mine using it. Then, after the ten days had gone by, I realized I had forgot to export my photo into some other file before the trial expired, and now I'm stuck with an unfinished project I have no way of opening. Does anybody know how I would go about opening/exporting this project without having to purchase the full program?
  9. As part of my project I want to make those brown dribbles in the screenshot look more like oil running down the screen, currently it just looks like drops, how can I make it look like more of a singular mass? As shown in the other photo I've attached, I know what I want to do but not how to do it, thanks!
  10. The screenshot speaks for itself really, I know this is a thing in Photoshop but is there any way to snap the bottom line of the Frame Text to the bottom part of some text? I'd need this to space everything out just right. Thanks
  11. Hi everyone, I'm working on a logo and I'm trying to get rid of 2 filled sections of some triangles, the outlines are already done but the fill is still there, the area that I want to clear is the red crossed out part, does anyone know how to do this? The way I was thinking to do is just clear the fill and use shapes to fill it in instead, merge those and then select the colour, but I feel like that'll take longer than other solutions I've attached a screenshot Thanks
  12. Hi guys, so I'm still relatively new to Designer and I've been having a bit of trouble lately, I'm creating a logo and I need to snap some shapes around, I'm trying to get this triangle to snap to the long part of the other one but it won't capture it as a snapping point, could anyone help out? I'll attach a screenshot Thanks
  13. Hello. Does anyone have a problem with the recently updated Designer, that causes PDFs to be exported as one single page, instead of multiple pages? I'm on Mac and my customer on Windows and we both have same issue. The workaround is Save As Copy, but it's not ideal as I had presets in Export Persona per file. This applies to any file, created in the new version or previous versions, so I belive it is not related to the file, but to the recent update. I have Affinity Designer 1.6.1 on mac and my customer something like 1.6.4 or so. Thx for help!
  14. Hi, not sure if this is a bug but I've been facing this particular problem lately. For the past few sessions, whenever I try to edit a RAW with Affinity via Mac Photos, the same photo keeps loading, i.e., even though I open file A, or B, or C, or whatever, it's always file D that appears. Even when I used another Mac Photos file (I've divided my photos into Photos 2018, Photos 2017, etc), the same D appears. It's just like a never-ending nightmare loop. I can't really remember the exact details as to how or when the problem started appearing. I suspect it was when I was figuring out how to open and edit the RAW in .ARW format and not TIFF when I might have closed the file in question before completing my editing. The same problem happens even when I open a JPEG. Affinity will instead open at Develop Persona with the above mentioned File D. Really no idea what I can do. Would appreciate any help or advise. Thanks!
  15. Is there a trial version available for affinity designer for mac? Thanks.
  16. Sometimes the following annoying error occurs in Affinity for iPad: when I edit a scanned image (TIFF) sometimes the display of the image gets broken. Only a few parts of the image are shown then. Looks like only the edited parts of the image are shown. If you zoom in, the image will be displayed completely, but if I zoom back, it is broken again. An export of the image works without any problems. Closing and reopening affinity does not help. Attached you find two screenshots of the same image opened in Affinity in to different zoom levels, one broken, one ok. Does anybody else have this problem. Is there a solution for it? Best regards, Christian
  17. Hi, Measuring Guides stopped working. It used to work fine. I have tried holding the command key however it is still not working. I'm using Affinity designer version 1.6.1 on my mac. I'm facing the same issue with Affinity Photo. Any advise?
  18. [UPDATE 2]: Resolved. See my post below. It appears to have been a caching issue with the program itself during upgrade. My steps to reproduce and fix it are also there. Cheers. [UPDATE]: Just went to a previous version and have the same issue, but hadn't used the took in quite some time. Am I simply trying to use it in a way it's intentionally not being enabled? On the latest Affinity Photo (v1.6.4.104) on Windows 10 64-bit, the free hand selection tool won't let me select the polygon and magnetic options, and I can't select a mode (add/subtract/intersect) either. This is the case on background, new pixel layers, rasterized layers, etc. There is no interaction. It's as if they are simply unselectable, even from a UI interaction perspective.
  19. Can anyone offer some advice/help on where I go to download a fresh copy of Affinity Designer please. Put the original onto a now corrupt Win.10 laptop and want to install a replacement onto a Win.7 desktop? Many thanks Johna888
  20. Hello, designers. I was wondering if it could ease the process of exporting assets for an Android project. After delving into it, I wrote an article. Exporting assets for Android using Affinity Designer
  21. I love working with affinity designer. Especially for screendesign. But no matter what i try to configure, text fields, shapes and images always have coordinates like 700,7 or 2,4 Pixel. everybody knows that there are no half or .4 pixels. This really annoys me because when i try to check the space between two objects it does not say "80" but "79.7" and that is stupid. Why does the software work like this? I have every option turned on I always have to manually change the x and y position to a whole Pixel. But i dont want to Please please please consider this issue. Thanks a lot! Frank
  22. Hi, My I pad pro 10.5 is going to be full. And I know finally why. in the affinity app they save the files on the front page. I must delete them one by one. I have hundreds of them in it. so thats take me days when all of it is gone. I hope I have explained it well, and hope if you guys have an solution for it to delete it all in one time. thank you! Gladys
  23. Hello! A picture probably says more than thousand words. Please have a look at the attached image. I'm trying to recreate this "polygon" look. I know how to create a gradient over several objects by selecting them at the same time. Is it possible to add these artifical "steps" over the gradient's colors? Similar to the orange-to-red gradient in the attached image. Or is it all done manually? If you know any other hints on how to create this or similar polygon looks, I'd be happy to know them as well!
  24. Hi there, I love using Affinity photo, but I am missing one point with Details Refinement. In Lightroom it is possible to press the ALT-key while changing the masking slider. This gives you a masking / kind of high pass view of the sharpening that is applyed. I can't find a method to do that in Affinity Photo. Is that function missing or am I missing something? Any plans for a feature like that. Besides that, what's your workflow with Detail Refinement (RAW development)? What values are you set fixed, what is variable afterwards? What are your indications for sharpening the image appropriately? Any tips are highly appreciated! Thanks and best, David
  25. Quick Tips: for finding Affinity content with Google Search With a few helpful Google search engine tricks, searching the Affinity Forum via Google can be made much more effective. The Common Search In general, you should string search terms with a space together to start the context search. Thus, the input "Affinity forum gradient" or "Affinity forum macro" in the search window shows all found link entries on the screen which contain those terms. Quoting ("...") helps to search after more closely related search text here. Extended or Exclusive Search To make Google search more effective, you should use so-called operators. Here are some of them. A tilde (~) before a search term makes the term synonymous. So "Affinity ~forum" brings both the Affinity forum as well as hints for possible other related forums. With a minus sign (-) you can specifically exclude terms from the search. For example, the minus designer in "Affinity layer masks -designer" calls up a list of Affinity layer masks related entries without designer in the context. With a plus sign (+) you can instead specifically include terms to the search criterias. Search in and for Websites To specifically search a particular website/page, prefix your search term with a "site:URL" - where the URL is the web address of the site/page on which you read the info recently. For example, "site:affinity.forum.com macro recording" searches and calls for a list of threads which deal with macro recording on the Affinity forum. A minus sign in the "-site:URL" input behind the actual search terms excludes results from the named URL. So "Affinity video -site:youtube.com" will exclude all Youtube videos from the search. With "site:de" it will only search German websites with the extension .de; Of course, other endings like .org or .com etc. can also be used here. With "related:URL" you can find out if other websites have similar content. In order to browse only publications from a specific period, you must connect the adjacent years with three points: here "2014...2018" only lists publications between 2014 and 2018 in the results list. For example in order to find at affinity.forum.com current practical contributions to macro recording you would use "site:affinity.forum.com macro recording 2016...2018". Some helpful browser shortcuts To speed up the search in general, there are a few shortcuts available. For example, "Ctrl + F" will bring up a small search window at the bottom of the page that will help you to search the current page for terms. Ctrl + or - enlarges the view, zooms in or out. Ctrl + L moves the cursor back to the address bar so you can enter a new website or search term. Calculations, units of measurement and currencies The Google search engine can also calculate and convert. For those of you who struggle with mental arithmetic, just type the math questions directly into the Google search window using the +, -, * / symbols. This calls at the same time the calculator for further input of even more complicated tasks. If you want to convert units of measure or currencies, you can also type these directly into the search window. Thus, the input "inches in millimeters" picks up a unit calculator, with "pounds in euros" you get the current price displayed as well as references to various currency converters.
