I have an image which I have extracted from the background and applied Mask to it and Let's say from that image if I want to use some hair which is near the ear of the subject on the right side ear and I want to recreate and use those hair on the other side, left side of the ear. Can I make a selection of the hair from the already extracted image which I have created and applied Mask to or will I have to make a new selection of the hair from the original image and then use it ? The reason I want to use the hair from the extracted image with a mask is because the hair in that image is refined and worked upon so it gives me a good selection.

I am experiencing some strange behavior with Live Procedural Texture and the "rgbtoi" function. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but if so, I can't figure out what it is. I'm on a MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.6.4, using AP 2.3.1. I was trying to create a Toning Preset using Procedural Textures, but the display comes out very dark, which stopped me in my tracks. Here's the original image. I picked this image because it had a lot of different colors for testing. The below image shows only the base layer (the original pixel layer). The layers above the base layer are hidden. I added a Channel Mixer Adjustment Layer and set it to grayscale and I get the expected result. It displays the weighted grayscale of the image (using approximately 30% Red, 59% Green, 11% Blue for the conversion to grayscale). Note the sample points in the Info Panel. They look about right to me and agree with the image as displayed on my monitor. Below is a screenshot with the Procedural Texture Layer visible and the Channel Mixer Layer hidden. I used the "rgbtoi" function, which I believe does a similar RGB to weighted grayscale conversion as Channel Mixer (approx 30%R, 59%G, 11%B) and provides the output as grayscale intensity. The image displays extremely dark, but the sample points in the Info Panel are nearly identical to those shown in the Channel Mixer screenshot. The sample points do NOT agree at all with the displayed image. I'm guessing it is a "display issue" because the calculated values in the Info Panel seem to be correct. If I change the Layer Blend Mode of the PT layer to Color, Hue or Saturation, the image displays the same as Channel Mixer, but this shouldn't be necessary. And for my purposes, it defeats my intention of building a PT to do Toning. I could put a Channel Mixer Layer (set to Grayscale) below the PT Layer, but that shouldn't be necessary, should it? Seems like a bug to me, unless I am missing something (which is very possible). Any help would be appreciated. I'll also attach the afphoto file, created using AP 2.3.1. Thanks. PT-rgbtoi.afphoto

Hi there 👋 This time I tried to recreate my old work with Blender. The challenge was not to use 3D programs, but only free images and AP of course! In the attachment, I have put the images used and also the Affinity Designer brush that I created to make the chain. To use it in AP create a curve in AD, assign the brush to it as a Stroke, and copy and paste in AF. From here you can change the chain's shape and thickness from the control panel - I haven't figured out how to create it directly in AF yet... 🤔 I hope you like it! This was the original. I wasn’t commissioned to do this, I just thought it would be good practice to create something better. For the main image I generated a prompt using Playground AI. I then edited some details using Affinity Photo, adjusted the lighting and colors, added half-tone, and used some overlay textures. I think it's definitely more attention grabbing (lol)

Hi folks! I wanted to report a bug I encountered yesterday and found my fix for. Upon launching any of the three programs, they would get stuck with just the splash screen saying "Initializing..." until the following message appeared: Naturally, this was confusing, as all Affinity programs were working just fine the day before when I'd updated them, and I've never touched my firewall settings! My setup and required details: Computer Specs OS: Windows 11 Home, version 22H2, OS Build 22621.3007 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz RAM: 16.0 GB System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Using all three programs, Photo, Designer, and Publisher Using the latest release versions (2.3.1) Yes, I reproduced it, and found the issue + workaround (see below) What I tried (without success): Restarting my PC Uninstalling and re-installing all Affinity Products Once with the MSIX installer and "app" Once with the EXE installer and "programs" Adjusting and opening up my Firewall settings Today (as I post this) I have found the issue: Hidden Folders! Many programs on my PC have created folders on my PC at C:\Users\[my username] that start with a dot; as I understand it, these are common with cross-platform programs and normally get hidden by Mac OSX and Linux machines, but not necessarily by Windows, and they were starting to clutter my User directory, so I marked them and the contents inside as hidden. Shortly after, my problem above began. As soon as I un-hid the folder C:\Users\[my username]\.affinity, lo and behold, the programs started right up, and when I hid the folder again, the issue returned. My other PC running a different AMD setup with Windows 11 had the exact same issue when I hid and unhid the .affinity folder. Possible cause in the program: According to a Stack Overflow page I found while looking up how to hide the folders in the first place (as well as another page with further details linked from there), it appears that if a Windows program calls CreateFile with the CREATE_ALWAYS flag but no definition for FILE_ATTRIBUTE_HIDDEN, operations will fail on hidden files. While I can't speak to what the Affinity programs are doing while initializing, I imagine the issue could be this, or something similar. I hope this is helpful for others who have a similar problem, and for Affinity developers to hopefully fix the issue when it's possible to do so.

Let's go back to school, with some of those common and well known school protractors for measuring in degrees. ... etc. The protractor assets shared here ... ... are all vector based and do have printed on degree scales. You have to adapt/size the default assets protractor sizes to your document needs and thus scale them up/down so they nearly match your doc measurements. Note that all protractors are just a bunch of grouped/layered together vector parts (curves and text) thus they can be modified in colorings and the like. Also you should always move & size etc. a whole reused protractor group/layer when needed! Here is the associated assets file: protractors.afassets Have a nice school day!

Accidentally I turned a text layer (Frame Text) into curves, that is each single letter is on it's own. How can I undo this (turn the text into one single text layer again)? Oh, and how did I actually do this (so I can prevent it from happening in the future ... 🙃)? I just clicked or double-clicked somewhere in the layer to change the text ... Thank you!

How can the auto warp text (is that the name of the function?) in Affinity Photo be turned off? I only want to resize the layer size to fit in more text, not distort the text. See image below. Thank you! 🙂

All the images are from Pexel and I made a couple of things (the sheets and the clock) with Blender because I couldn't find any right images and the man with the umbrella was recolored because the image was black and white. My brother bought a new place and requested I make him a poster on human evolution using the skulls. It took a while to research and decide what would work and to weed through alternative ways to present to timeline. The images were draw in AP and it was set up in Apub. The illustrations separately are on 15x15" canvases and the printed poster will be 12x18".

Hi there, I'm working with Affinity for several years now and was always very satisfied. But since my update to newest Affinity Photo 2 the layer panel is gone, can't see it anymore. The older version of Affinity Photo shows the layer panel as known. So what is the problem and how can I solve it? Anybody out there to help me? Any help is highly appreciated For your info, I'm working on MacOs 11.7.10 – maybe that's the problem?

Hey guys! I use Affinity Suite on Mac, BigSur Rotation I know it's been suggested before but I'd like to reiterate that a rotate-funtion in Photo (and maybe Designer) would be "hella dope" as they say. This is the single most important feature that Adobe's got that gives it one leg up in my opinion. Flip Also, another suggestion is to make the option Picture > Flip Horizontally/Vertically available as a button on the toolbar. Flipping your artwork is a valuable and venerable tool to keep it fresh in your eyes and make sure they don't get used to it and make you overlook things like proper perspective and anatomy. Shop If we could get an overview over what we bought in the shop and what we haven't and even a wishlist-function, I think that would make buying in the store a lot more attractive. It would certainly speak to the "completionist" in me. Right-click > load file In V1 we had the option to load previous files with just right-clicking on the app-icon in the toolbar. Since the major update that feature has been missing. Thanks for all the hard work and making a great software suite! Looking forward for more!

Inspired by an enamel sign from the 1950s to mark the 130th anniversary in 2016 of Coca-Cola Inc. In this Affinity Photo composing I used a pin up from Peter Driben (1903 - 1968) and a photographed and cropped Coke can. And the used font for the Coca-Cola word logo is Loki-Cola. Funfact: The font for the word mark Coca-Cola was never copyrighted for and by Coca-Cola Inc. The word marks Coke and Coca-Cola, on the other hand, are registered trademarks.
