  1. In time for Halloween a photo of a Golden Orb spider from my trip to ZIL London, it was in front of a mirror so I was able to get a shot of the top and bottom of the spider. I was amazed at the size of the spider
  2. Hi there Affinity legends. Like to get feedback and thoughts from other screen printers with their thoughts of working with Affinity Designer/ Photo. Especially interested in your color separation and RIP processes for creating film positives i.e. what software do you use for separations/ RIP and halftones. Really enjoying using Affinity especially due to the financial savings compared to other design software options.
  3. Hi There, New user to the forum here. I have been using Affinity designer/photo for more than a year now for printing screen printing positves, and up till now we have been getting very good results. The issue we have now is that, with our better experience and more clients, we are struggling to achieve good seperations for more complex designs. We have seen video of Color Separation AP software from Pacific Pixel reviews and wondered if anyone here as purchased and their thoughts. As for many small printers out there i can't justify the price of the leading brands of photoshop/ seperation software. Thanks for any feedback.
  4. In big sized pictures (25500px x 16500px) the lag is at the beginning of a stroke. If the app catches up, everything goes smoothly. The lag doesn't depend on the size of the brush. In open GL mode is no lag at the beginning of a stroke but performance in long strokes falls short to brushes in metal accelerating mode. It's the same in old and new created documents. And use of a mouse or a pen tablet doesn't make any difference either. Since you advertised Affinity Photo as Apple Silicon optimized, I assume this lag - showing in metal acceleration mode - is a bug. I'm using - Affinity Photo 1.10.5 - Mac Studio M1 Max with 64 GB RAM, OS Ventura (was the same with the OS before); - Apple Studio Display in the Design & Print setting (P3-D50); - Wacom Intuos 5M; - Logitech G502 Hero
  5. Since I like to see animals, I took a lot of photos. So this time, I also worked on photo manipulation with the theme of animals. The main character of this photo manipulation is Mouflon that is small but has very nice horns. Please enjoy "The Secret Meeting"~ "The Secret Meeting" speed art : https://youtu.be/aUFlLsE6Xfg
  6. Hello We’re starting to use Affinity and we’re trying to use it like photoshop. We need lower down image resolution and change the original name of the file. We don’t know how to create the batch process that allows us to rename the files. Thank you soo much!
  7. Hi Guys, Looking for some suggestions here. I have attached this .afphoto file so please feel free to try out and let me know what suits/fits best for this photo. I know it is not a very ideally taken photo in terms of the lighting conditions available. But if you were to correct it using some adjustments here, what best could be done in such a situation? I have made this .afphoto file using a Mask Layer and some adjustment and applying the Mask only to the left side of the subject's photo. As that is the area I think and feel needs some light correction. Please feel free to try it out and kindly let me know what best can be done in this Photo. TIA ! 1666531718773.afphoto
  8. Hi Guys, Facing an issue, This is the first time i have clicked some RAW Photos they are in the .dng format and surprisingly when I try to open it on my windows computer they by default only open directly in the Affinity Photo Software. Can RAW Photos not be viewed like a normal JPEG or a PNG file on your computer ? second my question is, so when the photo opened with Affinity Photo Software it went in a strange mode, and said it is developing the RAW Photo what does it mean ? Should I let it convert ? Third, so the first time when I opened one RAW photo in Affinity Photo Software and it was developing it, I tried to close the Software it gave me a pop do you want to cancel the developing I clicked Yes. I hope this does not tamper or harm or mutilate the original RAW Photo file that I had ? Does it ? Can someone please tell me about this ? Thanks in Advance !
  9. Hi guys, here's a new video about how to select human hair and animal fur precisely in Affinity Photo. I hope you enjoy and learn something new from this video, thank you!
  10. If I move a symbol back and forth between Designer and Photo and manipulate the Symbol in the linked layers of Photo, I get this weird result, where the vector shape shows as unlinked, but it remains linked in practice. 2022-10-24 14-03-41.mp4 Steps to reproduce 1. Open Affinity Designer 2. Create a rectangle 3. Convert the rectangle into a symbol 4. Go to File > Edit in Photo 5. In Photo, duplicate the symbol. Notice the symbol has linked layer properties 6. Move the top symbol to the right 7. Select the rectangle within the symbol and unlink the vector shape 8. Go to File > Edit in Designer 9. In Designer, resize the rectangle and notice how the shapes remain linked. 10. Go to File Edit in Photo Back in Photo, notice how the rectangle is displayed in the linked layers panel as being unlinked in the vector shape. 11. Resize the rectangle 12. Notice that both symbols are updated as if they were still linked by their vector shape.
  11. Stable Diffusion created a forrest and Pixabay delivered the buddha, the rest is Affinity Photo.
  12. I am not able to finish a mask when in refine edges as the mask disappears and saves I have made are lost. When I close and reopen a lot of the masking touchups are not there and sometimes the mask reverts to the original version. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks Aidren
  13. I apologize for the perhaps too trivial question but I can't figure out how to memorize a gradient. Thank you...
  14. The city scale drawings I often work on are large files that necessitate the use of a single artboard for performance/ storage reasons. If I make several drawings on top of the same base layer (e.g. over the buildings), it would be helpful to link the visibility states of all layers that pertain to a particular drawing. However, with linked layers it is only possible to link two layers together. So I would like to request there being the possibility to link 3 or more layers for visibility. You may say, why don't you just toggle them on individually? The reason is that if I export several drawings, I may easily forget to turn particular layers on/ off during the process and thus make a mistake. As a result, I have to then go back and show/ hide lots of layers to re-export. If I could have linked the layers, that wouldn't be the case.
  15. It may be nice to have inverted linked layer states, in which I can show one layer and thereby hide another. This would ease the showing/ hiding process of layers in a complex document. This request is in response to:
  16. I would like to have linked layers like Affinity Photo has. This would be tremendously valuable for linking layer visibility and transforms in a complex document. I often work on complex city size drawings, which require me to work with one artboard due to performance issues. Given that I make multiple separate drawings on the same base maps, I would like to link their visibility (since layers and effects may be scattered across the layer tree) so I can more easily export the drawings individually.
  17. I think most photo manipulation artists would have worked on a flying whale once. So this time, I worked on that subject matter with affinity photo. It's always an interesting and fun work for me so I hope you guys enjoy, too. "Swimming in the Sky" speed art : https://youtu.be/OW03MeqD99E

  19. The Three Sisters in Australia Blue Mountains, there is a story that comes down from a long time ago. Although there are many different versions of the story, anyway the main character is three sisters and dark sorcerer is the main villain. So this affinity photo manipulation, I worked with the story of three sisters in Blue Mountains. "The Legend of Three Sisters" speed art : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziEGRamqi1I
  20. At least one person asked for UI scaling two years ago (after a short search online). Still nothing implemented. I can understand that if you hadn't thought about that requirement initially, it may be hard to code up for the entire UI. Can we at least get the brushes panel to scale the images previews of brushes and can we have text names inline also instead of having to scroll through thousands of brushes to find one or make new sets of brushes from old ones every time we need a new specific style. The colour swatches allow for text which helps a lot in some circumstance. They can also me made different sizes so I know it cannot be that hard to do for the brush panels. Worry about full UI scaling later.
  22. B&W images can have many different facets and moods for a given motive, so it always also depends on the intended expression that they should convey. Here are a few (six) different B&W conversion macros for tryouts and to play with. - You may have to customize their settings to your individual needs, since not all input images are the same. 23. Hello everyone. AP have turned into my new favorite photo editor application that is out there. I've been using since Jan 2020 and it completely replaced the Adobe buggy program. But there's some features that I miss using on AP, like the filter gallery. For those who don't know what is it, it's a feature that can stylize a certain image or layer as you wish, with very specific filters and each one it's 100% customizable. I've read about using "macros" but I didn't get it at all. I really want this feature on AP to finally forget about the PS.
