  1. Bicubic resampling is a good, universal resampling method and definitely should be made a default choice (or at least an option) in Affinity Photo. While we may found it in export window, next to more advanced Lanczos options, it seems logical to include it on a canvas level, in View Quality settings. Also it would be great to see it being added as an option in Designer and Publisher as well for the sake of consistency. As of now, in all three apps, we're limited to use Bilinear which doesn't provide the same level of visual quality and details precision especially while zooming in and out, resizing objects.
  2. I am trying to run the Affinity suite on Windows 11 ARM64 (4GB RAM), installed from the Microsoft Store. I expected that the apps would be slow but usable under x64 emulation, but all three (Photo, Designer, Publisher) crash after displaying the splash screen (and a warning about lacking a DirectX 10 graphics card and falling back to software rendering). The Windows Event Log shows the following backtrace: Application: Photo.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException at <Module>.Raster.Hardware<Raster::DefaultImplementation>.GetHardwarePossible() at Serif.Interop.Persona.Settings.PerformanceSettings.get_CanUseHardwareAcceleration() at Serif.Interop.Persona.Settings.PerformanceSettings.get_UseHardwareAcceleration() at Serif.Interop.Persona.Services.InteropService.Initialise() at Serif.Interop.Persona.Application.OnServicesInitialised(Serif.Interop.Persona.Services.IServiceProvider) at Serif.Affinity.Application.OnServicesInitialised(Serif.Interop.Persona.Services.IServiceProvider) at Serif.Interop.Persona.Application.OnStartup(System.Windows.StartupEventArgs) at System.Windows.Application.<.ctor>b__1_0(System.Object) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.InternalRealCall(System.Delegate, System.Object, Int32) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.TryCatchWhen(System.Object, System.Delegate, System.Object, Int32, System.Delegate) at System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherOperation.InvokeImpl() at MS.Internal.CulturePreservingExecutionContext.CallbackWrapper(System.Object) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object) at MS.Internal.CulturePreservingExecutionContext.Run(MS.Internal.CulturePreservingExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object) at System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherOperation.Invoke() at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.ProcessQueue() at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.WndProcHook(IntPtr, Int32, IntPtr, IntPtr, Boolean ByRef) at MS.Win32.HwndWrapper.WndProc(IntPtr, Int32, IntPtr, IntPtr, Boolean ByRef) at MS.Win32.HwndSubclass.DispatcherCallbackOperation(System.Object) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.InternalRealCall(System.Delegate, System.Object, Int32) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.TryCatchWhen(System.Object, System.Delegate, System.Object, Int32, System.Delegate) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.LegacyInvokeImpl(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherPriority, System.TimeSpan, System.Delegate, System.Object, Int32) at MS.Win32.HwndSubclass.SubclassWndProc(IntPtr, Int32, IntPtr, IntPtr) at MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.DispatchMessage(System.Windows.Interop.MSG ByRef) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrameImpl(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame) at System.Windows.Application.RunDispatcher(System.Object) at System.Windows.Application.RunInternal(System.Windows.Window) at Photo.Application.Main(System.String[]) I have the saved event log if that is of interest to the developers (please contact me privately).
  3. Hello, I already posted this on October 24, just few time before V2 release. Didn't get any answar (and with the recent release of V2 I find this quite obvious), so I propose the same question again (maybe that V2 already includes some thing which will help solving this issue), now that the V2 has been released, hoping in a better luck... --- I know that this issue has already been discussed sometimes before, anyway... Currently LRTimelapse needs Lightroom in order to use all its features, and looking on LRT forum the author said (on last 2022-03-21) "... FYI: I've tested all other available Raw converters. None provide the required interfaces. So no, there will be no LRTimelapse version with another raw converter in the near future. ..." (https://forum.lrtimelapse.com/Thread-lrtimelapse-without-lightroom?pid=51212#pid51212) Don't know the interface technical specs which may help interfacing AP to LRT, but making AP suitable to be used with LRT instead than Lightroom could help the diffusion of AP also in the timelapse world (LRT is the most used software for this purpose). What about if AP engineer get in touch with LRT in order to check if this is feasible? (maybe it's easier than expected or, even better, this has been already done and next AP release will be good for this too, who knows...) Many thanks in advace for the time spent in reading this... 4. I’ve been trying out V2 on the iPad. I traditionally draw single frame cartoons, now I'm shifting to single-frame stories. Getting use to the interface change has been a bit time consuming, but overall it's been a positive experience. I'm looking forward to seeing how the iPad platform evolves. Working while sitting on the couch instead of an office desk is a major bonus. I hope you enjoy my submission.
  6. My first finished project in V2 was to create EXR matcaps I could use in Blender for sculpting that support multi-channel options. Pretty happy with the results and fellow sculptors have had a pretty positive reception to them.
  7. Hi! Could someone confirmed the following in V2 ? Path tools create "curve" layer (???) and only one path can be stored inside any attempt to use the path (selection or mask) destroys it Masking a layer void any layer above it is not possible to draw on a mask or fill it Thanks PS: Feeling I will never be able to give up PhotoShop CS6 Regards
  8. I was asked to create a new visual persona for an indigenenous organisation in Cooktown in Far Nth. Queensland, Australia. I came up with this image as a metaphor for drawing from tradition to give to the community. I seem to spend all my time in Affinity Designer and now that V2 has arrived I feel confident to go exploring (and finishing artwork) in A Photo. These pieces could definitely have benefitted from the virtues of pixel art
  9. Source photo (desert and woman) from unsplash. All structures created in Affinity Photo with shapes, textures, and an assortment of brushes. Planet built using Luna Cell (unfortunately Affinity does not support this plugin).
  10. Hi, in this tutorial, I show you to solve a typical problem in autumn: You see beautiful autumn colors but the sun is extremely bright, and therefore the colors seemed to burn out, meanwhile the shadows are too dark. I show how to fix this situation. I wish you fun with the video. Ciao Jack
  11. Often when drawing the tablet is rotated. The tool controls become truncated and difficult to use. Screenshot attached. The same thing happens to the top toolbar when in portrait mode
  12. I like fantasy a lot so I really wanted to make a fantasy story about dragon with photo manipulation. And recently, I found a really cool dragon image in pixabay so finally, I was able to work with the dragon. Thank you to "pendleburyannette" for giving a great dragon free image "The Last Dragon" speed art : https://youtu.be/D2FYrOcGLd0
  13. This image is a collage of the partial eclipse of the sun from 2022-10-25 combined with full moon from 2022-08-13 taken with identical gear (Canon EOS 80D, Sigma EF 150-600) at 600mm zoom level. It shows a perfect fit of the moon into the dark spot created by the moon a few weeks later. Of course, nobody will ever be able to see this image, as it combines (invisible) new moon with the 180° opposite full moon in one image. Unless Cameras with 32 or more f-stops / digital range will be available (estimated) Never the less, the outer edge of the moons eclipse imprint perfectly matches the full moon edge. and by coincidence, moon and sun have almost identical diameter when viewed from earth. That fact comes to surprise to me. Edited with fun in Affinity Photo. Raw development by Canon DPP as Affinity Photo is still no match.
  14. Shot with a Sony A7 and a Samyang 14mm F2.8 1) File > Merge to HDR 2) Select your bracket 3) Uncheck Tonemap (you can do it later) 4) Edit in developer persona
  15. Hallo!
  16. I often process a lot of Raw photos. And I would like to see what happens in the end in each photo. And I would like to edit these photos myself and not use macros. In lightroom this feature is made more convenient. I hope this feature will be improved in future updates.
  17. Fonts display improperly (wrong font) when opening a Designer file in Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro. Are fonts imbedded in the file?
  18. memories (memory game) is a fan-project I made dedicated to Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Who era. I used Affinity's "Studio Link" power with Affinity Publisher as base and Affinity Photo to edit colours and images. The card game (PDF file) is published on: https://kplasa.itch.io/memories/
  19. Affinity Photo V2 with a little help from GMIC plugin.
  20. Just for fun. Trying AP v.2.
  21. Three of my last digital collage artworks. I used this time exclusively Affinity Photo and Inkscape with my MacBook Pro instead of other well known software.
  22. Please, add the LAYER layers to the AP. Without it, the new Publisher's embedded files layer turning functionality is a nonsense. Thank you. Accordingly, there is an error in the Photo help file, where you talk about Layer properties (right click on the Layer in the Layers Panel). 🙂
  23. First order of business: I love the updates, big thanks to Affinity and Serif for the hard work! Onto the suggestion: Currently, I can batch RAW files to .afphoto files, but they are embedded with huge file sizes and no option to make them linked instead. To convert RAW to .afphoto as linked files, I have to individually save each one. This is a problem for my workflow. Also, when merging for HDR or Stacks, I cannot use .afphoto files as the source. This requires me to batch out intermediate TIFFs first, which eventually get deleted and seem like a wasteful extra step. For context: I shoot a lot of bracketed photography, mainly for HDR but increasingly for focus stacking. Currently, for a 5-bracket shot, I have to manually open and save each of the 5 exposures. With larger photosets following multi-day trips, this is going to be extremely cumbersome. Bonus points: I would love to be able to add text to the end of a filename (e.g. "_Edit") when batching, but that's a much lower priority than the requests above.
