  1. Today I used linked images (other aphoto files) for the first time in Affinity Photo 2, and I noticed that the linked files are displayed (and also exported!) in a very low resolution. The part on the left of the red line is an linked aphoto image which is actually scaled down in the current document (right side), and one immediately sees the pixelated structure. I'd be somewhat fine if the exported version (in this example: JPEG 100% quality, no resize) would look good, but take a look at this: One clearly can see the blurred and even pixelated-and-then-bilinear-filtered nature of the linked file; it's also missing all its grain. When I use the Resource Manager to change the linked file to an embedded one, however, the result immediately (well, that is wrong - after a zoom operation of the viewport) looks nice: Exporting the file doesn't change anything here, it's also all good. Now I'd understand that for performance reasons Affinity might decide to display a reduced-resolution image when I work with the file, but when rasterizing the layer, or even exporting I expect the software to use the actual full resolution of the resources. (And an option to switch to high quality linked files would also be nice...) Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Markus
  2. I am currently a V1 user of Publisher and my 30-day trial expired for V2 suite of Affinity apps after the month of release date. Unless I overlooked or missed something, has there been an addition of customization for output (exported) files? It has been a longtime pet-peeve of mine that I absolutely abhor underscores (_) in filenames and usernames on the internet. Normally an underscore is used in the Affinity suite of apps for preexisting string names in the file nomenclature to prevent unwanted overriding. Is output naming customization a planned feature or internally discussed topic to be included in a later point-release update of V2?
  3. I have drawn some black lines, on a separate layer, but have now decided the lines need to be a different color. They took me quite awhile to get exactly how I wanted them, so I really don't want to try to redraw them; especially since I would like to have two versions of the lines, and that would require redrawing them absolutely perfectly(not possible for me) twice. I need to retain the feathering, so the flood fill won't work, since it makes them look thicker and chunky. I followed the instructions for the Color Replacement brush, but the only color that is changing is the very lightest of the feathered pixels along the edge of the line, but even they are not changing to the correct color, but a somewhat grayish hue of the replacement color I chose. I did see another discussion, when I searched the Color Replacement brush, about the color not changing correctly. That person finally resolved his problem by using "Protect Alpha", but I can't find "Protect Alpha" in my program. I did try changing the color using an adjustment layer and recoloring it, but I can't get the color I want.
  4. Only a standard mask is working, no compound mask selectable anymore. PS: In menu all options available only the mask icon shows the failure ... Bildschirmaufnahme 2023-04-11 um 09.52.10.mov
  5. Hi, in this Affinity Photo tutorial I show many small steps how to enhance each color individually. Ciao Jack
  6. Currently to create a new document using the contents of the clipboard, one has to press CTRL+Alt+Shift+N. While this shortcut is functional, it is quite long and can be cumbersome to use. Additionally changing this shortcut may result in overriding another important function. I would like to propose a more convenient method for creating new documents from the clipboard. I suggest that when no documents are currently active, pressing CTRL+V should directly create a new document using the clipboard contents. This would make the process more intuitive and easier to perform. Example Copy image to clipboard. Open Affinity Designer/Publisher/Photo. Press CTRL+V.
  7. Hi, I congratulate the work that has been done in afinity, I am a user since version 1, I like it a lot, in the last months I have been testing the use of the ipad version, and I have found a couple of things that I think could be improved, here I share some images. quick deselect button paste inside, front and back less clicks preview circle for gradient and transparency preference to turn off rename layers more quickly

  10. It seems like I have to change directory each time I work on different file and I have a lot of directories/categories. Its default in photoshop and many other apps not sure where to do it in Affinity. Please advise. Thank you in advance.
  11. I needed a list of my capabilities and services I can offer while I reside outside of the U.S. Delivered as a PDF file (redacted version). I will probably add some samples of my work in similar fashion
  12. The picture has too bright and too dark image and made an exposure adjustment to the foreground.
  13. Pretty please can we get a waveform for images as either an alternative or complement to the histogram? Thanks
  14. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare? Or make silly composite pictures from pure whimsy? I realise in the last couple of weeks I've been doing just that, and so why not share 'em with you folks! I read that Roald Dahl's children's books are being made more 'suitable' for today's children; mention of reading Rudyard Kipling has been changed to Jane Austen. Cue old joke made new: A long time ago on BBC TV, the late Michael Bentine had a sketch with a mad scientist who'd invented the next step up from painting by numbers: spray-on classic paintings. To demonstrate, Hals' Laughing Cavalier and da Vinci's Mona Lisa . . . -- or you can spray them both at the same time to get The Laughing Lisa! Serendipity! In the course of looking for something completely different (pace Mothy Python) I learned that Geiger is German for violinist; Stehgeiger is German for cafe violinist ('standing fiddler); and Geigerteller is German for Geiger counter. So there must e a German word for . . . And finally Esther (British in-joke):
  15. don't find affinityv2.exe file to define affinity photo v2 as external editor for other application..... some other way to do it?
  16. I need to backup/remove all my Affinity projects from an iPad that will be reset to factory specs. I'm happy to back up to my Mac and wondering how? Can anyone point me to a good tutorial video or post? Many thanks, Mark
  17. Fans Need To Respect K-Pop Idols Privacy.ytn.afphotoHere is the source file. Hello, I'm Michelle. I'm having issues with Affinity Photo. So I'm having issues with Layer Effects. When I click; on Layer Effects(FX) panel and click on one of the effects, for example, 'Outline' and change the settings like 'Radius.' Blocks would show up around a cutout image of me. The same goes for the other Layer Effects as well. I have attached a screenshot; so you know what I mean.
  18. Good evening, I've bought a Wacom Intuos M Blueetooth (CTL-6100WLK-S). I use it for painting with Affinity Photo v1 and connected with the cable works perfectly and without any lag. By using the bluetooth mode without the cable connected, the pen input is lagged by about 1/2 second and it's totally the experience is not good at all, so I am constrained to use it with the cable. Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to solve this issue? Is maybe just my mac too old? My mac is a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports), processor 2,9 GHz Intel Core i5 dual-core, 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 with Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB. Thanks!
  19. Hey there! I'm currently working on a project that could really benefit from 3-way or 5-way rotational/radial symmetry options. What I mean is something like this: There currently is no other way in Photo to achieve this but by using linked layers that where manually rotated by 120°. This also only works semi-optimal since the links kind of brake when you scale the canvas. I posted about this and my workaround with an example file here. Cheers!
  20. Hello, I'm trying to export an image to use as email signature, but I realised that there seems to not be an otpion to see the html code like with photoshop, is there one that I can't find or some kind of alternative? For reference it's this method but with affinity, I have all three softwares so if there is an alternative in another of the affinity software
  21. Unsharp mask applied, black and white adjustment and lens blurr to gradient. Dropping the opacity by61 % to the selected background.
  22. Here's my first attempt at the focus and exposure bracket merge. Took four sets of three +/- 2.0Ev bracketed photos on four different focus points on the pistol in RAW. I then merged the exposure stacks into four separate photos, exported those HDR images as TIFFs, and then focus merged those four photos into a single photo as a JPEG. I think it said this single JPEG is over 40MB before I cropped it to this size. Taken with my A7R IVa and Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 (photos taken at f/8) on a tripod. Appears to be some artifacting/haloing on the rear-edges of the image such as the beaver tail and hammer/slide/rear sight. Otherwise, I'm pretty impressed with the quality. The tutorial I watched did say that Affinity 2 automatically selects the clone tool and allows you to view the component images and pick which parts look the best and can then use the clone to cover up artifacts, but I was having a very difficult time getting the rear-top edges to blend well. It was either accept it the way it is, or choose to have the pistol look great with the cutting board looking off, or the cutting board look right, but the pistol part is off. Does that mean I simply need more images of those possible problem areas to generate more data for a more seamless blend of images?
