  1. Hello, I want to do something like this https://youtu.be/jv3szSbyu80 (watch after 3 minute), but on my iPad. Unfortunately I can do this with text, but I can’t do this with another photo. I rasterise all photos, but still can’t do it. I use projections then perspective projection on 3 dots(in top left). Help me please. (iPad Air 3-d generation). Thanks very much.
  2. I have a question please about width and hardness adjustments in Affinity Photo paint brushes. I know dragging the cursor side to side changes width, and up and down adjusts hardness. But when I rotate the canvas (as seen under View>Rotate Left or View>Rotate Right) to work on a piece from different angles, the required motions to change brush width & hardness seem to reverse. They don’t remain constant relative to the user once the canvas is rotated. Is there an option somewhere to keep these motion commands consistent, relative to the user, for any given working angle?
  3. Hello, 1) I just started using Affinity Photo and right away noticed pressure sensitivity did not work. I got it to work for size though after reading in the forum, but not for opacity. Dragging the flow slider doesn't do the job as the line becomes uneven (see image). Is this really the way I need to go about using pressure sensitivity? It seems very strange to me that it isn't enabled by default and that it should be this tedious working with pressure sensitivity. 2) When I use the brush tool, my lines become jagged (see image). Is there a way to fix this? My software and hardware: Wacom Cintiq 22HD Affinity 1.8.3.641 Windows 10 Pro N 64bit

  5. Hello, When I select a layer and try to apply a mask or an adjustment from the layer's panel buttons for that layer, it creates a mask for all the layers bellow, not only for the select layer. I think it should create a mask for that specific layer selected (the parent layer). To do that I have to grab the new layer mask created and put, manually, under the selected layer. Is this normal? Am I missing some configuration?
  6. Question: In Affinity Photo "Export Luts" what does quality / "set the complexity" mean? Issue/situation: In Affinity Photo 'Export Lut' there is a Quality slider, where I only see a difference in the preview image once I go above 7 x 7 x7. The documentation is very sparse with its definition of what it actually does; "Quality—sets the complexity of the exported adjustment. Drag the slider to set the value." Attachment: Link to Affinity Photo Docs: https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Adjustments/export_3dLut.html?title=Exporting custom adjustments as LUTs Operating system: OSX Catalina 10.15.3 Affinity Photo: Version 1.8.3 Any help or input on this matter is much appreciated. Thank you in advance. PS: if this post is in the wrong forum, then please let me know, and I will submit it in another.
  7. Hello I have Affinity Photo 1.83 and have a consistent issue I can't seem to resolve. When I make changes in the "default" setting of any part of the Affinity Interface, these settings are not preserved for future. EXAMPLE: When I use the colour picker tool I do NOT want to have the "apply to selection" selected, so when I load Affinity, I select this tool and unset this tickbox, and use this tool. Then when I reopen this image file, when I move to another image file in the same opening of Affinity (another tab), or when I close Affinity and re-open it, the colour picker tool has reverted back to the ticked state, so every single separate image I need to use this one tool, I have to adjust the settings repetatively. This is one tool. This issue is present across the board on all tools and all shortcuts; Affinity does not save my preferences between images or loads. How can I resolve this?
  8. Cosmos flowers. Shot with Sony A6000, 16-50 kit lens. Edited in Affinity Photo. Download.
  9. Changed background, added textures and lighting effect, dodging and burning locally, some cleaning. I was looking for some old dutch school feeling. Comments please! Mft
  10. Hello, I would like to share with all, some vector images as well as intensity brush that I made from these Vector images. BRUSH.zip
  11. Hey, first post here, as i could not find any solution to this. I am trying to put a text into this bear shape so that it will fill the shape inside, just like the one on the left. I feel like it should be straightforward, but I can't seem to work it out. Since it stems from a picture, I was unable to convert it to text frame in designer. I have all 3 programs available.
  12. Baffled by the High Pass filter? I explain how to use it for sharpening in this tutorial. Even though it’s made specifically for the iPad app, it’s also relevant for the desktop version.

  14. Fokusstack and then several textures to make it a bit painterly, all done in Affinity Photo
  15. Affinity Designer / Photo, Windows 7 x64 Hello Experts, I have the problem that my hotkeys for enlarging and reducing the brush tip (] and [) only work in Photo. In Affinity Designer the same hotkeys are defined, but the brush tip does not zoom in / out. I test it in Affinity Designer in Pixel Persona with the paintbrush (B). Can anyone confirm the problem or has a solution for it? I don't like to use other hotkeys for it. Markus
  16. This is a picture from the Harz Mountains. I grew up there and took some photos last year, probably in anticipation of the Corona crisis. So I can make a stroll in the forest, without going there. It was part of a project for super resolution photos. For this picture I took 23 photos with a Canon M6, six rows with three photos and some spare photos. Normally about 15 are sufficient. In this case I used all photos trying different software. Affinity, o.k. but a little slow, Autopano from Kolor (not longer available) same result, but much faster. As far as I know, the same algorithm is used in both programmes. Lightroom, stitching o.k. but it was not possible to see the final result in 1:1. Hugin ... no success. The resulting picture was about 200 Mpx and a resolution of about 300 dpi. I used the slice function and let it print on a roll printer (cost reason) and framed it in an old paravant. It costed me about 70€ printing and shipping. With the high resolution one can really see the fox gloves (digitalis) and not some "pixel swamp". For panoramas with spruces there were no problems with stitching. For panoramas with similar views and beech trees, stitching was usually not successful in the leaf area. Have a nice weekend Norbert
  17. Sometimes I wander about our garden with a camera in hand. This morning I noticed one of those blue headed birds that is not only content with eating the Apricots in summer but has taken to chewing the leaves on said Apricot tree. When I feel more energetic I'll set up a telephoto lens and get a decent shot of these birds. Jeremy.
  18. 99 jpeg shots stacked with Affinity Photo
  19. I've never done this before, but apparently I've been missing out for a while. I watched a video that told me how I could take macro images with my current lens on any DSLR camera. So, I took the kit lens off my Canon EOS Rebel and reversed it in order to take a macro and I have to say it came out pretty good. Of course, that takes away autofocus as well as being able to regulate the aperture -- so the lens is always wide open. You can only adjust ISO and shutter speed so the exposure has to be on manual. My problem is that my hands aren't as steady as they once were. Used to be able to shoot with a 300mm lens with no noticeable shake at 1/60s, but had to run that up to 1/125s and boost the ISO to 3200 to get a fair image. I guess it's time to admit I need to use my tripod and monopod more. I was pretty happy with the result, processed the image in Affinity Photo (of course).
  20. Is Affinity Designer is a good tools to make pixel art? Do I need Affinity Photo to make it (pixel art)? Is there any course of Affinity Designer to make Pixel art?
  21. I'm exporting my image to use as a hero background image. I'm using Affinity Photo. What is the optimal size, quality, preset, resample for better user experience? It has to load as fast as it can on mobile. I tried 2000px by 1199px, but the image is stretched.
  22. Hi everyone, I just published my latest tutorial on masking basics. Although it’s specific to the iPad version, the concept of masking is not program-specific. Enjoy
  23. Hi, I'm pleased to announce that I reinitiated a former activity of mine — training people to learn or improve a visual skill, 2D and/or 3D. Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo are the 2D editors I'm using in my workshops. A training takes place in the Netherlands, in my studio or on location, so it will be mostly interesting for Dutch and Flemish people. More info can be found on my site: metinseven.com Regards, — Metin
  24. Hej there, I am using an i7 Skylake with an GTX950M and 16GB RAM, still I get very very slow panorama and HDR renderings from Canon CR2 files. At the same time, very little CPU capacity is used (~15-20 %). Tonemapping panoramas takes easily a complete afternoon! I would love to see an performance upgrade in future versions (even if I have to pay for it). Otherwise, Affinity Photo is close to irreplacable as the generated images are excellent. Even the output using the default settings is much better than for example Aurora HDR, imho. Sincerely, Benedikt
