  1. Hi, I want to suggest a feature I think will be great for all of us Affinity users. You see I've been an Astropad user for a while and also use Screens app as well and then I was thinking why no developer has come up with an idea of mirroring an app or remote control an app from a device to a desktop one. I mean having an iPad version and a Desktop Version that basically are not compromised and are in their full potential with just Wifi or Bluetooth or even usb connected whatever you do in your iPad is happening realtime in your desktop app. I'm not talking about watching your desktop app in your iPad as Astropad does (that even working is kind of annoying needing another interface to use your app) I'm talking like controlling your desktop app with your iPad app. 100% accuracy and no extra interface to master a way to get to your goal. Connecting your apps together will revolutionize the industry and I know you are capable of that kind of innovation. Just think about it.
  2. little succulent lights in the backyard 3rd is the original oly Em1/12-40 raw fileediting done in Affinity mostlyHonest comments and questions welcomeNot very often does a pic get my 5 stars and "favourite" rating. How the hell does one explain how/what/when was done? Who actually reads it all anyway? The most important part was noticing the subject as a picture framed on the wall --- a lot more should have been done like using a dark backdrop which would saved much of the editing needing to be done. Going by the screenshot, I have likely made it more completed than need be The selection was done with the selection brush only ; refine was not used for masking; image was enlarged to 50% (??) according to the Nav panel (??) -- only a couple of flowers on screen Selection feathered / smoothed /shrinked 1-3px >> saved image and selection often A lot of my editing is to go too far with adjustments and then slowly brush out the adjustment to suit -- and soften edges screenshot will give some idea of adjustments done I hope that explains it -- questions very welcome while I work out why Ctrl + is not working -- it's working with Lr (??)
  3. Here is my latest digital painting, entitled "The Caduceus" inspired by a Gandharvan rain raga I witnessed. I have included the original drawing and an intermediary step in the creative process. I started the digital painting in Photoshop and completed the final digital painting in Affinity Photo which has now replaced Photohop as one of my favorite painting software.
  4. I've actually been drawing for this Inktober mainly in Blender 2.8 with grease pencil. However the last three days I needed a deeper, more painterly and textured look - perfect for the painting tools in Photo. Ironically, it was the special prompt list from Adobe, which made me switch back to Affinilty for those days
  5. My latest tutorial. How to create and use light rays in Affinity Photo. Feedback very Welcome.
  6. Tell please, Do you plan to make such a convenient brush setting like in Photoshop. It is much more convenient than at the moment in Affinity Designer or affinity photo.I'm talking about the circle above the arrow in the picture below. very easy and convenient to change the brush - just press mouse 2. and in Affinity Designer i could not change roundness for brush, I thing option SHAPE in brush setting can set roundness but not for all brushes. I beg you to implement such an implementation is very convenient for drawing. Thank you for your attention and have a nice day.
  7. Hi everyone! In this file, so far I have been "drawing" the dragon using a layer mask. Now that the actual content is all on the layer mask, I wanted to edit the layer mask in a sort of non-destructive way. I wanted to add flowers and all kinds of patterns to the area outside of the dragon, but wasn't sure how to do that without having them all on the same layer mask. I don't want them on the same layer mask because in case I end up not liking the flowers and stuff, I'd have to retrace the whole outline of the dragon. Then I thought of the great erase blend mode and wanted to use an erase layer to clear out flower patterns in the blue paint but instead it erases the vase under it as well. Is my approach completely wrong? How should I proceed with what I have with as little extra work as possible? Is what I want to do possible in AP or should I make a feature request? vase_mouse_painting.afphoto
  8. Hello there, Here is a painting I've done a while ago using Affinity Photo. I've used the program for a while now and am very happy with the tools and performance! I also attached a video time-lapse of me painting it and would be very happy about any critique on the finished piece or my process! Thank you very much, Waldkauz Video
  9. Affinity Photo: How to Reset Color Swatches Palette to default? In Swatches Affinity Color Palette Gray I've added Swatches. After doing that I don't seem to see a way to reset it back to the default Grey Swatches. How would I do that?
  10. Affinity Photo please include a dedicated Preferences section in Help. I did a search for Preferences in the Help Menu and in Affinity Photo Help document and nothing matches.
  11. Affinity Photo Reset individual included Swatches to Default. For example one may want to reset Greys or Colors or Gradients to default after adding those that you no longer need.
  12. Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted on the forums. I took this photo in the afternoon (not the best time to do it I know) while I was on a fishing trip so my time to take photos was limited. I saw those two big mushrooms in the forest and I liked them so I took a photo of them. Since they were under trees, it was darker then on the open gravel road near the mushrooms but it was a cloudy day. I made a few adjustments to the photo (which I'll describe below) but I'm not sure if I could do more or if I did to much. I need help. I decreased the brightness and exposure (a little). I slightly increased the contrast and removed a green leaf near the first mushroom. Went into Photo persona. Selected both mushrooms and slightly increased their brightness. I created a pixelized layer and darkened the ground (15%) and slightly increased the brightness (5%) on a small portion of the moss in the lower right corner since it's originally brighter. Added signature. The top photo is the original one plus my signature.
  13. Hi, Guys a few times already when I tried to use my Selection Brush tool, on one of the occasions it wasn't selecting at all; on the other occasion, it didn't snap to the where it was said it would snap ( i am following the Affinity Photo manual working on projects). SO, it seems to me that this tool isn't working properly for me so far. Most likely it's ME, however, what am I doing or not doing to make it work properly? Also, Is there a place for troubleshooting subjects? Perhaps it will help as well, now and in the future! I would greatly appreciate your HELP! Cheers
  14. I have taken a series of artifact photos with a small image calibration card. Where the artifacts I am looking at have a range of colours, I wanted to adjust the calibration, where possible to best present how these artifacts look in real life, and I am not a good photographer, so most are slightly off. Which tool or tools would I use in Photo?
  15. I've recently made the switch to the affinity package, and am still in the space of 'between software' as I get used to the new. I currently run an older Adobe Suite and use Bridge quite a bit. I cannot seem to find anything in Affinity Photo/Designer that does the same job. BUT note there is a Stock Panel, which seems to allow you to browse I-stock. Could this be modified to allow you to browse a users own collections? OR maybe I'm missing something? As I said, I’m still new to this software. My initial reaction to both applications is - really good! Works well and does the job. I've had Designer crash a few times on more complex work (this was usually with blur filters applied) to multiple vector shapes. That being said, CS4 can also do the same, especially when zooming in and out in Illustrator. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be really appreciated. Thanks!
  16. I have begun storyboarding photo sessions using Affinity Photo, Daz Studio, and Dynamic Auto-Painter. Cat and Mouse is a good example. I set the scene up in Daz Studio and rendered it. Then I post-processed it in Affinity Photo. Finally, to reduce the realism and get a more painterly feeling, I ran the picture through Auto-Painter. Works pretty well, I think. Now, of course, I have to do everything all over again, shooting with a live model. However, having a storyboard picture like this makes it a lot easier to figure out how to light the scene, to discuss the scene with the model, to figure out what props to use...
  17. Left picture - before retouching, right - after 17 minutes of work. Most of the time it took to remove the tent behind the monument. The time I spent with this work was much shorter than using Photoshop for similar effects. It looks like the tools in Affinity Photo are more polished. I only used inpainting brush and selection brush, I used a graphic tablet to control the pressure of the pen. Thanks Affinity! I'm giving up on the end of my Adobe subscription in February
  18. Composite of 2 photos taken many months apart.
  19. Hello, These three raw images(RW2) are taken with lumix gx85. There are some black pixel on the image(ipad pro 10.5). I thought my camera have problem but I couldn't find any black pixel on Lightroom(PC-Window). And I checked sample raw image(https://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/panasonic_lumix_dmc_gx80_review/sample_images/). I can still find strange pixels on my ipad but there is no strange pixels on PC. panasonic_lumix_dmc_gx80_15.rw2
  20. Ok, I downloaded affin.co/searchthewoods file to work on the project. There are 8 documents in a file, however, NO SNAPSHOTS! The manual tells me to open a snapshot with the forest image... THERE ISN'T ONE IN THAT FILE. IS IT ONLY ME WHO HAS NO IDEA WHERE TO FIND ALL THOSE SNAPSHOTS THAT ARE REFERRED TO IN ALL PROJECTS? Yes, I download the file that is referred to at the beginning of each chapter, but then there is a reference to snapshots AND THEY AREN'T IN THE FILE! WHERE IS THE REST OF RESOURCES? It says in the manual: " You can get all the resources that are referenced in this project from: https://affin.co/searchthewoods.... HOWEVER, I personally was unable to find ALL of the resources there! And the same thing for all projects...VERY FRUSTRATING, GUYS!!!! I WASTE SO MUCH TIME JUST LOOKING FOR ALL RESOURCES TO DO THE PROJECTS! SHOULD BE MADE A LOT EASIER TO FIND...
  21. (Affinity Photo) Can you add the Alt+Mouse(R)+MOVE to change the Painter Brush Tool Size?? Like the PS change the Brush Size shortcut key?? Thank you:)!
  22. Every couple of years or so I visit the Bedfordshire (UK) Steam Fair and take tons of photos. This time I kept it down to just over two hundred; amazing self-restraint! I concentrated on unusual angles, detailed close-ups, and the like. This is part of the works of a paraffin (kerosene) fuelled vintage tractor. I cranked up the saturation a little in the first image, and later I thought I'd try it in mono. For that, I desaturated it and put it through the HDR persona to increase the local contrast, as well as the overall contrast. (Sometimes I find a better B&W result can be got by turning down one or more of the colours in the Black and White adjustment, but I didn't need to in this instance.) And if you're wondering where this lot fits on a tractor, here's the whole thing ... (If you want to see the other 217 photos, let me know!)
