  1. I just want to share with you, that I have just launched an Affinity Photo Workflow Video Course. I have for a long time felt a lack of training videos, that tie the features of Affinity photo into one professional workflow. So, I have created a course, that: Allows you to begin to use Affinity Photo like a PRO with confidence. Explains a Start-to-Finish Affinity Photo workflow. Get to know all the post-processing steps: from opening a RAW file to publishing or printing the finished image. 140 minutes of video content, including explanations of key processing techniques and case videos. Includes 3 bonus workflow macros included. Specially designed for this video course. Gives you everything you need to establish your own non-destructive workflow using Affinity Photo. There is already a lot of great videos about how to use Affinity Photo, however with this new course, I think that many photographers can improve their understanding of Affinity Photo and establish their own editing workflow. By the way, as a thank you to Serif for giving photographers a great product, all interested users in this forum can use the coupon: forum.affinity.serif at check out get an extra 15% discount on the video course. I hope you welcome it into the growing pile of professional training material for Affinity Photo. Cheers, Peter Dam
  2. Hi I was trying affinity photo for drawing and digital painting. I'm currently using photoshop. but affinity seems really better. i was thinking of switching to AP. but the drawing & painting need some works. I had a few suggestions as well. a few days ago blender updated the grease pencil with nice brushes and tools that would be nice if AF could have them too. please take a look at this part of the video . you can smooth a brushed line with a tool just dragging on it. you can make it thin or thick while keeping smoothness as well. drawing a curved line with some brush would automatically smooth it.
  3. two files of long dead timber (trees) top layer mirrored x 2 in Affinity base layer mirrored x 3 (??) stacked in layers black and white adjustment layer added>mask added to show the top layer better added borders for something to do About all I can tell you so questions are welcome The mirror tool is amazing!!
  4. Hi everyone these are some styles i created for use on individual letters , hope there good enough for everyone to find a use case for them. this is my first go at creating styles it is a 148.59MB DOWNLOAD. S.L_LETTER_STYLES.afstyles
  5. Yes, it's true. The only thing I can say for sure about this image is the fact that it took bloody ages and lots of experimentation.
  6. My first composite in AP to practice masking. Kind of European landscape (3 photos taken in France, 1 in Germany and 1 in Ireland). ;·)
  7. Editing old family photos.Could somebody tell me how to get rid of red on skin.
  8. I have always enjoyed wasting time by manually mirroring images as it's always a surprise to see what pops up on the screen; but yesterday, I discover Affinity's mirroring tool. That thing really does do the brain in!! I took the first photo and gave it a spin to end up with the second photo. That was too easy so I decided to add my personal touch with a collage; something I have been making since film days and picture framing. And last one is just another of the first Amazing techknowledge, and so damn fast it's boring LOL Photo taken in 2012 in the hard country around Broken Hill, Australia Honest comments, suggestions and questions welcome. My question: how do I copy and paste 'layer effects' onto other photos in the same collage?
  9. I thought that as the photo had been taken on a hot day, why not add a 'hallucination'? The bird was clip art from Xara and Photo graphic designer, the flame trail was done in the Particle Shop plug in for PSP and the adjustment to the photo colour was done in Affinity Photo The flight of the phoenix.afphoto
  10. I swear this was not edited and is a genuine photograph taken with a rablet PC's camera,
  11. The things that can happen while learning a new program basically mirroring, rotating, and blending layers with masks start to finish in Affinity honest comments/suggestions and questions welcome
  12. hi there, is anyone here have use both version desktop and ipad for affinity designer and affinity photo? what feature do you missed from desktop version when using on ipad?
  13. I do a lot of these collages and as I learn where this and that is in Affinity; and how that and this works I am being to like it more as I get another non-adobe program out of my head Everything here was done in Affinity --- 2nd file is the Oly raw file with my Lr5 starting point preset added . The log would only be a about 150mm/6 inches thick and couple of mts long questions, comments and suggestions welcome
  14. Hello, guys! Affinity's gotten me under it's spell. I've been using Affinity Photo/Design a lot in my 10-days trial to see if I can do everything I used to on Photoshop with ease. I'm loving it. Most things have even an easier workaround. So, masking is one of the cool different approaches I've encountered, and it's pretty simple to get along with. However, I couldn't—by any means—make the following mask/compositing technique work. Am I missing something or just trying to explore beyond AP actual limits? Can anyone help me? Following are step-by-step of how I do it on PS and, then, how it didn't work on AP. Post-image: I forgot to write on the 3rd image, but, while inside the mask, I pasted it.
  15. same day and time although from the otherside towards the sun behind the fog All done in Affinity for another get to know it exercise -- wishing I didn't straighten/level the truck now The yellow lines made a interesting test for various removal tools for several programs -- the first one I did with affinity work perfectly with the inpaint brush; however next time (this one) was not so good and the clone tool was required also . Third file shows the cleaned area . In the end I don't need to do as much but editing for me usually fiddle around until I'm impressed . The latest idea is to "add" another trailer to make it a proper road train second pic is the Oly raw file "dust" added with a texture brush Honest comments, suggestions, and questions welcome . You are also welcome to download and edit ; but it's still MY photo :).
  16. This was my first photo manipulation in Affinity Photo. This art has a simple meaning, "Circumstances don't define you, you define your circumstances.". Stocks: Woman: pixabay.com/en/selfie-girl-wom… Background: pixabay.com/en/buildings-disas… selfie.afphoto
  17. I want a photo to blend edges with a black background, using a gradient mask. Can I color the background or must I draw a background rectangle?
  18. My son drivers this one -- the mug is following in his old man's footsteps. It was a foggy morning when he passed though a little while ago so we caught up out on the highway. All done in Affinity -- the 1st black and white completed. Good affinity training exercise and practice Affinity crashed while doing this one . Does that happen often? I use Lr5 for organizing and find it better [not easier] to export instead of only saving as I complete an important part . What/how do you do the saving part? 2nd image is the Oly Em1 raw file Questions and any suggestions welcome -- I feel I want to do more (???)
  19. In this Affinity Photo tutorial, We will learn how to create a typographic portrait effect in Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer. Watch Full Video Portrait Text Effect Speedy.mp4
  20. Hi Everyone, I have a lot of "7 image exposure bracketing Raw" Canon 1dx mark 2 files. The problem is that it takes a lot of time to process each photo. I have a macbook pro 15" 2018 i9 32gb 560x gpu. The questions are: 1. Are there any settings i need to change in order to speed up the process, because it looks like metal gpu acceleration is off (my current settings screenshot attached)? 2. Is there an option to create a batch job for all of my 7 part HDR Merge photos, so ill be able to leave it processing and come back in an hour instead of clicking every few minutes each time? Thanx a lot in advance.
  21. Here is available Affinity Photo Tutorial about particle dispersion effect for landscape portrait. In this video, you will see how to create incredibly particle dispersion with advanced photo editing and image enhancement. In this video, you will learn how to use layer masking. I hope you like it. Here is the tutorial link Watch it
  22. Wasting more time on nothing important just to get used to the Affinity way for selections/refine/masking/lots of little adjustment layers with masks Suggestive comments and how and why questions welcome
  23. Had Affinity (trail) for only a few days after getting disillusioned with another program although my old Lr5 is my first go to program for basic edits Although I have a better than average -- whatever average is (??) -- understanding of digital editing; it's always a head full to use a new beast that does mostly the same thing as others but in different ways and with different tool names . Still a lot to take in, find, and work out. This is one the first mostly Affinity edited images I have done . I always find it hard to explain what was done and how it was done apart from saying I use very few preset/actions in my editing . I also believe we should post a before and after edit file and that does give idea to what was done . 2nd is the Oly Em1 raw file How and why questions welcome
  24. Affinity Photo Crop Tool Question: I watched a tutorial on how to use the crop tool and then followed the steps, but my results are different. I've attached a screen capture that shows a file that I just cropped. I clicked on the cropped image so that you could see the blue border and handles. They show the size of the original image, rather than the size of the cropped image as it is now. The borders and handles SHOULD be around the cropped image with no extra space at the top. I've searched for an answer and come up empty handed. Can anyone tell me how to do this right? I'm new to Affinity Photo, and of course, I have a work project to do (what was I thinking?). Many thanks in advance.
