  1. Hi, i have installed affinity photo without changing the settings. when i open a .png the colors are different (darker) than on the original image attached a screen the left image is opened with affinity, the right image with another program all other image programs show the colour correctly as shown in the right picture, this does not happen with every image, but with many images and I cannot find the solution thanks for help Margoux
  2. Hello there, unfortunately I don’t understand (and can’t find a tut) how to apply a preset i.e. in the Curves Adjustment layer. 1. I make my adjustments (which I like to add to a batch of similar files) 2. I add a preset and name it 3. Where do I get this preset now in another image? Can someone help?
  3. Hello, I purchased affinity photo, really like it, but since some weeks every time I try to open it the program is not responding.. sometimes after a long time of waiting I get it to work, but then suddenly when I for example export an image its not responding again and I can not do anything. I reinstalled it several times but it did not solve the problem. I am using a Macbook Pro 2019 13', 1,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 Please help me I would love to use it again. regards, markus
  4. Hello ! @Patrick Connor, @AdamW, @MEB and other team member, i just hope you are really taking it and resting and enjoying staying with your friends, family etc... and not touching your laptops for this week-end. i'm dropping something here for Affinity Publisher (and also the whole product line) but not expecting you to answer or contribute during the week-end, you deserve good rest. Well, this is a proposition i've been continually forgetting to log here. Using Publisher (but also Designer and Photo) in our workflow (for those who integrated it already before stable version) we often and even make massive use of stroke and tweaking it is part of our every day thing; i see there is possibility to set a stroke profile after playing with the curve thing to make its aspect fit our need; after doing that curve thing we can save the profile ... but i noticed this, the saved stroke curving profile disappears after saving closing the project (case 1) and we have to remember how it looked like and redo it my request is this, would it be possible to save stroke curve profile as application wide usable thing, like we continually do with colors/gradient palette so we can simply reuse it with old projects or when starting a fresh project ? i often watch the brothers from Design Art Studio, Olivio Sarikas and even @Bri-Toon tutorial on youtube and for each new projects they have to redo the line stroke profile tweaking over and over for that project, which you must admit is really time consuming. i would rather, setup a stroke curve profile, save it and know it's application wide (like color some palette) and not document based only and then simply select it in the stroke tab before i draw a new line, then draw my line using pen/pencil tool with that selected profile and see if it fits my desire, this will be helpful for those still using mouse technology and even for those using pen/graphic tablets lacking pressure sensitivity functionality to feel home but also to feel and work with less stress or see their head overheated trying to think or remember how this used to work or to be but just focus on their design and produce great things. Please make the curved stroke profile saving applicable application wide in Publisher and if it has the success it should have, then replicate/expand it to Designer and Photo. @firstdefence, @Petar Petrenko, and all others ... your inputs to round the corners of this idea/proposition is expected and will be of great help ! Blessings !
  5. Rainy sunday so time to play with Affinity. Dreaming is the Sunday of thinking.
  6. Hello, my first handheld macro with my new camera. Pink Waterdrop
  7. Greetings Viewers, I have been taking pictures of the phases of the moon for a photo competition. I need to get 8 good pictures of the different phases of the moon. Early this morning at 05:20 I took some photographs of the Waning Gibbous moon. The two pictures are: 1. The original colour (looks B&W) image. and 2. The colour saturated image (looks good enough for the comp.) To give you an idea of the condition of the sky I took a picture of the sky looking to the north-east. The morning was a cold morning with frost on the ground and totally cloudless and very transparent. The joy of having high altitude aircraft grounded for the last month or so. The colour saturation was increased to show the bands of scattered light. As the dawn progressed to sunrise the "normal" flock of white cockatoos (about 300 - 400 birds) made their way to their morning roost to join with another (approx 1000 birds) then to take off for the days' foraging for seeds and roots etc. Next moon session is on Saturday - heavy rain predicted. Jeremy.

  9. Do you want to move beyond the confines of the built-in vignette in Affinty Photo for iPad with all of its limitations? In this video, I show you how you can easily create a fully-customizable vignette. You can also download the macro version of this vignette for free.
  10. Hi guys, I made a video about the basics of how to do Photo Manipulation. Please check it out, I hope this is helpful, especially for a beginners. Thank you!
  11. I'm using Affinity 1.8.3 My goal is to learn a process for fixing "Pet eyes" I've stumbled through some attempts and watched a number of videos. I have had some success however I have some basic questions. BTW the pixel layer is there because I was playing. It seems in the photo I was working on the eyes are so bright that they are saturated at white, so no Adjustments can make much of a diffference. First I would like to state what I believe to be true about layers and perhaps someone can correct me. I think Mask's are easy. Black = not shown White = shown (perhaps gray might be partly shown) When combined in a group whatever else is in that group will only show through the "openings" (aka white) of the mask. It seems the structure in the layers window is important. Adjustments "below" the Mask will be applied to the layer below all (in my case "Molly Background") If I move "Molly Background" to above the mask group then the adjustments will be behind the background, basically useless. I only partly understand the subtleties of the layer structure and I don't understand the convoluted path to get where I am. It seems all the videos (example) I've seen start by adding a "curves layer" for no good reason except it appears to help creating the group the mask will control. Is there a way to create a group without this step? Also the layers "structure" seems non intuitive to me. The "group" is not indented at all. The Mask is indented two times The adjustment layers are indented one time The backgound is not indented It would seem the adjustment layers should be indented from the mask layer. Am I being picky or is there some logic I'm missing. Thanks John
  12. Hello Folks, Just a few pics of a Part modelled in Siemens Solid Edge and textured / rendered in Substance Painter. Then into Affinity for some minor adjustments. That is my ideal combination now. Solid Edge, for the Mcad Substance for the textures,, Nvidia Iray for the rendering engine and Affinity Photo.for the post processing. Nothing else needed .
  13. How do you enable Studiolink in Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer? It's only enabled in Affinity Publisher?
  14. Hi Affinity, I badly need the option to autosave - maybe a toggle icon or a prompt after a few minutes of working with a new file ("Do you want to autosave this file as you work?") which would also save history. I could then close anytime (without CMD+S) and all my edits are saved. I realize that there is an autorecover function, which I've rarely ever used since Affinity software is quite stable. The problem, rather, is my own stupidity. I sometimes open a lot of files to edit and then decide to exit them - the software asks me "do you want to save?" and certainly I don't want to save all these files I just opened (especially if I made some test edits). More than once this week already I have closed down without saving documents that I had been working on. Really terrible, and then it happened again. I try and train myself to look before I close everything, but my reptilian brain doesn't always comply.

  18. Hi. I'm having an odd problem that I've not encountered before. When I process in Develop persona and it moves to Photo persona, I get an increase in exposure value as if I'd set the level in develop deliberately high. I've attached a couple of screen shots to show what I mean. Has anyone else encountered this problem, which is annoying to say the least and has only just started? Does anyone have any idea how to correct the problem? Thanks a lot. Best regards, Martin.
  19. I applied for the 90 day trial license and got an email with a download link and trial license key. Today installed the application. On first start it wanted to be activated - of course. Now I had a few problems: First I wasn't sure what to enter in the "E-Mail/Organization" field and choose a wrong email. OK, I figured I have to use the email to which I received the trial licence key. Then I entered that email and the code. I got the message that the license info is correct but it could not be written to "C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo\ ..." (don't remember full path). I tried this twice or three times with same result. No idea why this path poses a problem ... it was the default path chosen by the installer... Then I thought I might need to start the application initially as admin and did so. Now the application complains again I entered the wrong values. I have already checked there are no superflous spaces and such. See screenshot. Unfortunately the application doesn't tell my what the actual issue is. Maybe the failed requests (for which the key could not be written to the HDD) already counted towards a limit that was now exceeded? What should I do?
  20. Yo, I´m currently using Affinity Photo Version 1.8.3.641 and I encountered an error when exporting in PNG format, the photos are incompletely exported, some areas disappear as if they were badly cropped, save the same work in different files and it was still present the error. In other documents if I manipulate the transparency of the image for example from 100% to 50% the elements disappear when exported in PNG. I tried to put other elements on top of that layer and try again but the layer that was manipulated with its transparency disappears. does anyone else have that problem? I attached three images to, one as shown in my work area, one with the export settings and the third with the final result
  21. Hi, Just wondering if it is possible to reverse the order that the images appear when using 'Split view' or 'Mirror view'? I.e. so that the 'before' image appears on the left & the 'after' appears on the right? Cheers, Doug
  22. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when toggling the UI, the document does not stay in place, which is quite annoying. For example, when I toggle this: It becomes this: It seems the document is moved by as much as the upper left corner moves when the toolbox disappears. It would be great if this could be negated so that the document stays at the same pixel position so that toggling does not effectively move the image around.
Viel Spass. Download:Texturen Makro by WIngendahl jr 2020.afmacros Beispiel Ansicht der Macros: Google translate: Hi, I provide about 68 texture macros for Affinity Photo. (Cave) Warning: The macros were created on a Mac, I can't tell you whether they run under Windows or an iPad. The macros are not suitable for pixel selection !, always use an empty document (new one). For some macros, the lower left field (stretch) must be set in the library. For example: Macro brick wall v.2.0 and v.8.2 as well as Candy 1.0 and wire 1.0 / Tranc v.1.9 Do not use the macro directly in your images (composings) as otherwise a level chaos could arise or worse levels could be lost. Rather create a new document and then copy the texture into your image (composing). Applying the macros: 1. You only need to create an empty document. Example 2000 Px X 2000 Px 148/300 DPI (PPI) 8 bit RGB or 16 bit. 2. Call up the library and start the corresponding macro. Due to time constraints, I was unfortunately unable to translate the macros into English. Have fun. Download:Texturen Makro by WIngendahl jr 2020.afmacros
  24. hello can some one tells me how can i add more than 1 selection with the pen tool ? thanks Desktop 2020.06.07 - 12.56.21.01.mp4
  25. I often suggest "blend the sliders" just to see what happens to the image. That is basically as I did here . Was; and still am rather amazed at the final image that I'm very unlikely to be able make again . 3] original Panasonic fz300 raw file 2] as I ''planned'' to do 1] after a quick fiddle with the mirroring tool >plus some layers and masking I ended up the "Psyche lagoon Monster" about to catch a feed. Questions and honest comments welcome
