  1. Just been playing around with an image of a good friend in AP, on a cold and wet miserable day here.
  2. Every times i want to do something like this Afffinity is my best choice.
  3. Hi all :D, I am currently working on a macro for removing indirect specular reflections via Affinity Photo. - sneak peek. the Image is taken form the Wikihuman Project http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Research/DigitalEmily2/
  4. Letter to Santa Claus : (i) make the gradient tool operation closer to the brush tool, so that it no longer erases the initial content of the layer when applied with a reduced opacity. (ii) Make it reminiscent of the previous color choice. (iii) Allow for a few useful presets (such as Black to White, Foreground to Transparent, etc.) or allow to save and reload various adjustments.
  5. Dear community, I am facing some problems with some RAW files that have high light exposure and get some tendency for the sky to burn out. When I open the RAW file in Affinity Photo develop persona (v.1.5.1 Mac) I get some purple skies I do not get when opening the file with Apple preview or Photoshop. Also the ready made JPEG does not show any purples in the sky. Are there any adjustments that can be done to fix this problem? I am using Panasonic Lumix GX 80 / GX 85 / GX 7 Mark II however it is called in different countries. See the screenshots below in the upper left corner. Thanks !
  6. This photo was taken in my studio. All post work was done with Affinity Photo. No external programs or plug-ins were involved in any way whatsoever. PLEASE do not share outside of this forum. Thanks!
  7. These folks complaining about bad experiences with Affinity Photo have me nervous, as do the things I've read about the death of the Plus product line, which apparently was before my time. I don't want to put all of my chickens in this basket if they may eventually break, but today I love this product! From my perspective, I am a photographer who has just found the perfect solution to my workflow problems. With Affinity Photo, I do the things I did in Photoshop in half the time and my finished product is gorgeous. I'll say it again: I absolutely love this product. I seldom use Illustrator much these days, but I would gladly buy Designer just to support this company. Please tell me the future of this product is a safe one, and if it is not certain, please tell me how we can make it so.
  8. I'm really enjoying Affinity Photo, but I'm struggling to manage my workflow, going back and forth between AP and other tools. This has me wondering: Do I lose anything if I go from one tool to another working with a layered PSD and never use the AP proprietary format? And if so, is what I lose minor enough to be worth the sacrifice? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
  9. I would like to be able to use the Compositional Overlays when designing as well as when cropping. Additionally, is there a way to flip the Golden Spiral both horizontally and vertically?
  10. Mac user with 1.5.1 While using the crop tool the context toolbar disappeared and I cannot figure out how to get it back. The instructions that I read says that it should always be available.
  11. In this tutorial I cover how to create a winter scene using channels selections and a few more tricks. This is also the first part of the tutorial - How to Create Good Looking Snow. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGbCcpIyZYA The language in the video is portuguese with english subtitles. Extract Detail Macro

I made this Macro to extract detail from an image for a tutorial and then I made it available for everyone. If you want, you can check the tutorial related to this Macro in the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdaySWNEpY0 Pedro Detail Extractor.afmacros.zip
  13. Hello, I am very new to Affinity products. As I have used Photoshop my entire life and I recently switched to Affinity and I am loving all the great features. This is a small feature but very useful while saving photos for web. There should be an option to enable or enabled default to automatically replace space with - (dash) in the file name while exporting images for web like photoshop does. Thank You
  14. Is there a way to see how big a file is in memory to see why AP is becoming Beachballhalla? In the info panel I only see Memory pressure which I assume denotes read/write velocity and Memory efficiency which I have no idea what it means. Especially since it displays as over 3k% which is interesting given what per cent means. I haven't found a way yet to display the internal memory use. I can sort of guess it with iStat menus and TOP but that's the whole app, not just my file. I can't optimise the app but I can optimise the file for performance once I know what's causing what to bloat.
  15. Every time I try to load the free DAUB_DAUB Concept Tools PRO.afbrushes to Affinity Photo I get the message 'Unexpected Brush Format' If I try the other method suggested dragging I get the same message. How do I load these brushes https://affinity.serif.com/blog/affinity-photo-is-one/#free-brushes ?
  16. Does Affinity Photo have folders similar to those in Photoshop, such as Brushes, Tools, etc.? I could not find these when I went to Finder on my Mac. All I saw was one file called Affinity Photo.app. These folders are useful for downloading new content, such as brushes. Thanks, Diane
  17. When the Paint Brush Tool is used on an Image layer, the target layer is automatically rasterized to convert it to a Pixel layer because the tool only works on layers of that type. The Inpainting Brush Tool and the Selection Brush Tool also only produce a result on Pixel layers, so the same automatic rasterization should be invoked when they are used.
  18. \working for me nicely now and getting faster. Could do with a brush resize keystroke or mouse function though.
  19. Hi, Is there a reason why my Raw images open as 96 DPI instead of 300 DPI say like in PS? Why is it reducing the res on import? Thanks in advance!
  20. I recorded a macro, which modifies the opacity of layers in 2 different steps like so: (FADE MACRO) -duplicate layer -opacity 50% (Shows Settings icon > Opacity) -duplicate layer -opacity 20% (Shows Settings icon > Opacity) I enabled the Eye Setting to show the sliders when running (What's the proper name for that eye BTW?) I run it and it works as intended, I get a dialog with 2 sliders and Opacity 1 and Opacity 2, which allow me to preview the macro. Here comes the bug: I record a macro containing the previous "FADE MACRO" like so: (COMPOSITE MACRO) -duplicate layer -apply filter (Shows Settings icon > "Filter") -make composite -Run "FADE MACRO" (Shows Settings icon > Opacity 1, Opacity 2) First, when doing this, the Eyes I activated on "FADE MACRO" get deactivated, so I go into the settings icon to activate them again, and change the each slider to its descriptive name, but BOTH sliders get the same name, the still act independently on the preview, meaning they don't change the same opacity but they can't have different names. It doesn't matter which I click to edit, all sliders of the same property (in this case opacity) get the same name.
  21. Hello, I came across a strange bug when exporting a image, When exporting ( cmd + alt + shift + s ) and then export, nothing happens until a pixel layer is moved in the layers panel. Check the attached video to see it work. [specs] OS: MacOSx 10.11.6 Affinity Photo: 1.4.3 Best regards. affinityphoto_bug.mov
  22. Based in a topic here at the forum I made this tutorial to cover how to create a glow effect in letters. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejB93TiS4mU The language in the video is portuguese with english subtitles. Hope you enjoy the video, Pedro
  23. I am trying to merge a levels adjustment with my background. The background is a simple black and white drawing, with no other layers currently. every time i try to merge, the program freezes and wont do anything. I have never had this problem before, even when working with more complex documents. My CPU is not capping... its coming to around 60% being used by affinity photo with nothing else running. Not quite sure whats going on. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks!
  24. Hi, I have the Google Nik collection which all work in my Photoshop CC, but having followed the instructions to get them to work through Affinity I've not been successful. Are there other users out there who have had problems initially with getting Nik to work as a plug-in in Affinity photo, but who have solved it?
  25. Hello, We attempted to open 14 Nikon RAW files (NEF) from the Affinity Photo menu "file/open", and selected the 17 files. The memory usage of the application shot up to 13.7 Gigabytes of RAM I have attached a screenshot (dual monitors) for your review. We are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 with SP1 on an i7 CPU with 16GB of RAM. Please advise... Mark
