  1. hey how can i get back the hsl color wheel in the 'color' button on the studio like it was in previous vers of the softwere
  2. Watercolour from a photo (from unsplash) as a template, all created with Affinity Photo on the ipad.
  3. When I use the rectangular selection, copy merged, paste and then move the new layer, the bounding box of the new layer weirdly includes the original selection. Why is this and what am I doing wrong? Here is a video to demo the problem. I am using Affinity Photo 1.9.3 on MacOS 11.4 (M1).
  4. I've just bought a new used pc and am having issues with freezing and crashing. Attached is the only crash report that's been generated, from a crash when in the Tone Mapping persona. The freezing seems to be random, though the system isn't using more than about 2.5gb of memory when AP is working, and about 600mb when idle. The cpu is being pushed to 100% though sometimes, when loading an image into a persona, such as when initially opening a RAW image, or changing to the Tone Mapping persona. I also have this Nvidia driver event: Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1402&SUBSYS_86DC1043&REV_A1\4&2D78AB8F&0&0008 with the following status: 0. i5 6400 2.7ghz 8gb RAM Sata os drive Nvidia GTX950 Windows 10 Home 21H1 0db8dddf-9895-48fe-b35c-cffbcd9aca73.dmp
  5. I have a client who I have done two shoots for of the same subject, an updated renovation project for an art museum. They are asking me to take the new photos and align them to perfectly match the perspective and angle of the old photos I took. I am not sure how to begin this, my intuition tells me the perspective tool, but if its a 3 point perspective interior shot, would that actually work? The attached shots are the first pair that I am working on, but I think also the most difficult.
  6. German 88mm Flak 18 AA/AT Gun "Bärbel" of WW2. Pretty successful against British and Australian Armour in the Desert Campaign. Moi3D Model rendered in Mamoset Toolbag and heavily weathered in Affinity Photo.
  7. Hi. I posted this bug but on a previous version, so i'm not sure if this is the best practice but am starting a new thread. I got too busy with work to follow up on this and have just continued using photoshop in the meantime. In the process of writing this I think i've narrowed down the problem. Windows 10 Affinity Photo 1.9.2.1035 Epson surecolor SC-P9560 (aka 9500 9570 in other regions) Printing from driver Similar issues going way back posted here and here basic problem: Epson SC-P9560 has uneven minimum margins for sheet prints (roughly 14mm top and 3mm bottom). In every other software i've used (PS, LR, Qimage, Mirage) the print/preview will reflect these minimum margins, and any resizing to printable area will respect these boundaries. In order to have a centered printable area, you must check the following box in the driver: If for example I set up an image file at my exact print dimension and send it to the driver in any other software, I must check this box to get a centered print. This is expected behaviour, and in rare cases I will print with a 3mm margin on one edge for a particular image. In Affinity, it seems that checking the above box actually de-centers the print layout. I won't go into great detail showing examples (they can be seen in the previous post), but can provide more context if people don't understand this. unchecking this option seems to produce a centered print, which is opposite the expected behaviour. Confusingly, leaving it unchecked also allows printing with the factory minimum (~3mm/14mm) margins. Assuming that this behaviour is consistent, it could actually be a little more convenient for me overall (I can ignore the "centered" checkbox), but it's definitely odd behaviour, and completely threw me from adopting Affinity for the last 6 months. IMO this should at least be noted so that people don't have the same issue. I wonder if AP is doing something similar under the hood for other printers that show a similar layout problem? Thanks. Will update if I discover anything new.
  8. So I wanted to detect a certain color using the color picker tool and then switch to the brush tool and start drawing, however, if I try to do this, Affinity Photo picks the other color and not the color picked up by the color picker. Is there any way to either change an option so the color picked up gets used as the brush color or is there a keyboard shortcut to change those two colors?
  9. Hello Everyone. Here is a photo from my DJI Mavic Mini Drone of the flats where a friend is living, I thought that I would have a go at trying to make it look like a model village “tilt-shift” effect. I achieved the desired effect using AP’s Tilt-shift effect, I have been wanting to try this for awhile, especially on my iPad 5th generation without having to resort to using my Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended version on the PC. AP is a really powerful beast in its own right, really beginning to start like using AP for most of my needs, keep up the amazing work serif. flats-tilt-shifted.tif
  10. Hi! I'm afraid, I was negligent and caused Photo to crash repeatedly. How I created the problem: I drew a blurred pattern, applied the adjustment layer "Levels" to it and made a "New Pattern Layer from Selection". After that I decided to add the pattern to the Assets. Now,every time I click on the certain category I stored the pattern in, Photo crashes. Seems that the category will be broken til the end of all days. But the other categories still work. Seems that the adjustment layer is too much for the Assets feature. I already have several seamless pattern layers as assets, and they work pretty fine. I found this thread concerning this kind of problem, but I can't find "Reset Assets". Hope that I will not have to reset or reinstall the whole App. The damaged category is expendable.
  11. I created this watercolour effect solely by using Affinity Photo's Procedural Textures in combination with standard techniques such at layer blend modes and masking. No third-party filters were used - even the watercolour paper texture was created using Procedural Textures. If you want an introduction to Procedural Textures for absolute beginners, with no maths or coding to confuse you, then I have written a set of tutorials beginning HERE. This image is copyright to me, of course, but I don't mind if you use in websites promoting Affinity Photo and it's amazing potential for art, graphic design and photo editing.
  12. I make beer, then I make labels and coasters for it.

  14. Hi all, I have a question regarding greyscale document setup in Affinity Designer and image greyscale format in Affinity Photo. My normal workflow is to create a Grey/8 Greyscale D50 document in Affinity Designer. I first edit my images in Affinity Photo and convert the images to Grey/8 Greyscale D50. I then import the images into Affinity Designer. My question is, what is the best workflow for accurate greyscale images? The other options are Generic Gray Gamma 2.2 Profile or Generic Gray Profile - what is the difference between the three options? Also what settings is recommended for pdf export for printing on press. *The setup is for a Year Book where most pages will be printed on a press with black ink only. Thank you.
  15. After creating my design in affinity photo I cut my image into slices of 1080x1080px But as I exported them I noticed they looked very pixelated. After searching for the cause I realized that whenever I export my slices they turn into images of 540x540px I've tried every many settings with PNG and JPEG but I can't figure out what's causing the change in size.
  16. I use the Interstate font family for my branding. I have PostScript, TrueType and OpenType versions of these fonts. I just notice that when I select the Interstate OpenType fonts in the fonts menu, the different font style names do not display in the font menu. Instead, all type styles are listed as "Regular," but Regular appears in each type style. This makes selecting the correct typeface a bit of a challenge. This is happening in Design, Photo and Publisher. Is there anything I can do to correct this so that each OpenType type style shows its style name. Both the PostScript and TrueType fonts list the type style name in the type style. Please see attached screen shot for clarification.
  17. Hi all. I've been using affinity for a while for painting so thought Id share a piece I just finished. Apart from the initial design which was done on art studio pro on ipad it was entirely painted in photo. I haven't seen much digital painting done in affinity which is a bit of a shame because the brush engine and general speed is pretty great.
  18. Hi, I have purchased a few license of affinity photo for the computers / Tabs i use. The issue i have is i need to find out which serial key i used on which system. How do i find that information.?
  19. I just purchased a Mac Mini M1 computer. I'd like to know if I should change the Affinity Photo performance settings in the preferences, specifically the RAM usage limit and the disk usage warning. I think they're set to the defaults -- 56320 MB for the RAM usage and 32768 MB for the disk usage warning. My ancient 2014 Mini struggled to keep up with AP so I'm looking forward to a much faster performance on the M1 but I'm wondering if adjusting these settings would make a difference. Thanks for any advice.
  20. Flagstones Photo Manipulation Affinity Photo Tutorial beginner. I show the basics, but you can enhance it by adding shadows and more masks. This tutorial uses veronoi, erase white paper noise and texture. https://youtu.be/XPzX7az3sRY
  21. I've had this problem for a while. It seems affinity photo sometimes just refuses to work and becomes unresponsive doing simple edits. Attached is a video showcasing what happens. Thank you 2021-06-17 00-06-06.mkv
  22. There are no important buttons in the Affinity Photo toolbar, which are present in Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher. Distribute tools group and Transform tools group. And why is the vertical/horizontal layer flip function in the «Document» menu and not in the «Layer» menu, where it should be? It's very frustrating.
  23. Again, I have some "remains" from a client's project (like the engraving macros last time), which might be useful for one or two: Simple 2-file solution, which generates a fake ISO 3D map of any image, shape or even text. Easy to use. Just place your object(s) into one file and update the master file. Cut's colours editable via layer FX. Caution! Can be quite demanding on weaker systems. Available for free (just enter "0" as price) at Gumroad.
  24. Take a picture, duplicate it and blur. Take a bubble brush of create the bubble and put it on top. Erase the blurred part under the bubble and It is done!
