  1. I recorded this quick tutorial on how to create an inner shadow text effect in Affinity Photo using layer effects. I hope you guys find it interesting.
  2. Tools: Affinity Photo, Affinity Publisher Let's connect: https://www.behance.net/bah-is-life https://www.instagram.com/bah_is_life/
  3. I recently illustrated a Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly (Protographium marcellus) for my brother. He wanted a photo, which I did not have, so I decided to create an illustration for him instead. I used AD v2.31., but spent a lot of time in the Pixel Persona. I also made a few trips to Affinity Photo for a few features that AD does not support. Hope you like it.
  4. Hello all, does anyone know if it is possible to change the color of the Pen tool guide lines to any other color other than blue? (Please see picture attached if you're confused on what I mean). I tend to edit pictures of products and sometimes the blue lines blend in with blue objects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I am having trouble with Affinity Photo and Designer(Mac OS) today. When I open the app it asks me to sign in?? After signing in the app crashes. It did manage to open once but the toolbar is floating and will not dock(weird), then after a minute it crashed again. Tried opening again, and was asked to sign in....then it crashed everything was working fine yesterday, but I am unable to use the app at all today. any suggestions thanks crash report1.txt
  6. This is of my composites I have been working on: This is the base image: This is the actresses on the left I chose to play the mother: As you can see, the hair is darker, is there anyway I can change the color to better match the new one's hair color?
  7. I have started a new photo composite of a scene in my fanfiction where the Denbroughs and their relatives pose together for a family photo on Halloween. This is a preview to see if I done ok on getting the characters into position and matching the right perspective. I wanted to get them into the right spot before starting to alter the lighting, and changing any colors. This is the closest image I could find that matches the basic look of the image: https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/happy-family-mother-father-children-costumes-1512368018 Here is the preview:
  8. Pizza1_DAP_Vegetables.afphotoI have been experimenting with Mediachance Dynamic Auto Painter Pro and seeing how its output can integrate into an Affinity Workflow. I processed an image from my DrawPlus X8 samples directory and painted a new image based on a vegetable collage. DAP allows an output in the form of a multilayered PSD file which will import into Affinity apps very well. So if you are interested in using this painting app with Affinity, then you can see that it will be a very useful addition to your creative library of apps. Here is an example of the output and an Affinity Photo file which I saved from the process for you to examine and see if it would be useful for you. There are three layers in the simplified Affinity Photo file based on the simplified PSD. You might like to experiment with them. Other painting styles are supported with quite a bias toward Van Gogh and Benson. Enjoy.

  10. Hello everyone, How can I flatten an image in Photo? Here's my case: I open an image at 500x1000 px and want to resize its canvas to 1000x1000 Well, I do Document > Resize Canvas, unlink the dimensions, set one side to 1000, and press Resize Of course, Photo adds the transparent 250 px margins left and right Then I do Document > Flatten to make one 1000x1000 flat image And nothing happens; the image still has transparent margins, and when I save it to PNG, it saves the transparency as well. In this case, Photoshop makes a flat image with no transparency, which is right. How can I do it in Photo? Please help me understand the logic of this editor.
  11. I'm not having any success recovering a file after AP v2.3.1 crashed. I'm on a 2017 MacBook Pro, Ventura. I never saved the file, but I had it open for at least an hour. I usually save more often, but I was experimenting with some techniques, so I didn't save it at all this time. I started with a DNG RAW file, opened it in the Develop Persona (RAW Layer linked), then did a lot of work on it in the Photo Persona. I have my recovery time in Settings set to 300 seconds, but I couldn't find any record that autosave ever saved my unnamed file anywhere. I looked in ~/library/application support/affinity photo 2/autosave. Nothing is listed there from today.. When relaunching AP, it asked if I wanted to recover the file and I said Yes. It opened the original DNG RAW file in the Develop Persona, which was useless to me. Shouldn't autosave save a copy every 300 seconds, per my AP Settings (preferences)? Is there any way to recover this file? If so, where do I look and how? Thanks.
  12. Attached is Revision A of my Tutorial on how I process and edit color negatives using Affinity Photo. (See Revision B later in this thread for an updated version). My original tutorial generally resulted in good conversions, but sometimes the deep shadows took on a blue cast. That could be corrected during editing, but was not ideal. Rev. A corrects this problem entirely and results in better, more accurate conversions. The process in Rev A is different, but is simpler to implement. I do not own a dedicated slide scanner, negative conversion software or plug-ins. Instead of scanning, I used my DSLR, a 100mm macro lens and an LED backlight to photograph color negatives, which I brought into Affinity Photo in their original negative form. I shot RAW, but full sized TIFFs work equally well. The approach described in this tutorial works with any brand color negative film and preserves the color relationships in the original negative. No special negative film profiles are required. This method works well for me and I hope others find it useful. There are many ways to process color negatives and convert them to positives, but this works reliably for me and yields an image that is easy to edit. 13. Please remove the image size limitation (32767 pixels) for png files! I have a 48138 px x 72518 px tiff file that I wanted to export to a png file of exactly half the size (that would be 24269 px x 36259 px). But Photo only saves a 21750 px x 32767 px file without any warning! I can't see any plausible reason for this behavior, especially because saving to a 24269 px x 36259 px TIFF works fine.
  14. Let's go back to school, with some of those common and well known school protractors for measuring in degrees. ... etc. The protractor assets shared here ... ... are all vector based and do have printed on degree scales. You have to adapt/size the default assets protractor sizes to your document needs and thus scale them up/down so they nearly match your doc measurements. Note that all protractors are just a bunch of grouped/layered together vector parts (curves and text) thus they can be modified in colorings and the like. Also you should always move & size etc. a whole reused protractor group/layer when needed! Here is the associated assets file: protractors.afassets Have a nice school day!
  15. I have been a adobe user now affinity. here is 2 samples of me using the program. i only do basic stuff. I am a shooter not a big graphic person. these samples are overlays, watermark and adding a closed eye for a open on. love the program. Had to do some learning but its ok lolol copyright.
  16. Hi there 👋 This time I tried to recreate my old work with Blender. The challenge was not to use 3D programs, but only free images and AP of course! In the attachment, I have put the images used and also the Affinity Designer brush that I created to make the chain. To use it in AP create a curve in AD, assign the brush to it as a Stroke, and copy and paste in AF. From here you can change the chain's shape and thickness from the control panel - I haven't figured out how to create it directly in AF yet... 🤔 I hope you like it! Ciao e grazie Davide catena.afbrushes
  17. Here is a preview of a wattpad cover I am working on that is similar to the first poster from Stranger Things: What do you think? @v_kyr @AffinityJules @carl123 @firstdefence @iconoclast
  18. Hello Affinity team.. i created a poster and all set to export ..but the problem comes when iam exporting as JPEG from AP...some strange glitches are coming in the final export. The only solution i found is to open that file in Affinity Designer and export it ..then everything is fine..i don't know why it is occuring ..may be its a bug ..That's why iam reporting here. Please solve this issue asap..
  19. Hi guys, It's all right? 👋 This time I have something very simple: a cover for one of my pieces of music. A little touch of typography on top of a Pixabay image. Ciao e grazie! 👍 Davide
  20. According to Affinity Photo 2 Help but once the pinned document has been opened, the pin gets removed, making pinning pretty useless. Affinity Photo v 2.10 (but I've seen this behaviour before) on Windows 10 Recent Pinned Docs.mp4
  21. I frequently use my iPad with the folio case which props it at a slight angle. Interestingly Affinity Photo AND Affinity Designer seem to be reacting to this angle when trying to place photos. The whole interface flickers strangely and taps aren't always registered. The video demonstrates it in Affinity Photo but the behavior is also the same in Designer. Previous to 2.0 I noticed other features in Affinity Designer such as keyboard visibility that were delicately affected by the slight angle. I haven't determined if these are still issues but I haven't seen any other iPad app that has had issues with this angle. You'll notice the flickering only occurs while the iPad is at the slight angle, but not when it is upright. This is an 11in iPad Pro M1 running iPadOS 16.2 (a). I have noticed this in previous versions of the OS IMG_5679.MOV
  22. Hi guys, is everything okay? 👍 I'm still here 😁... here's another photo composition with AF. All the images are from Pexel and I made a couple of things (the sheets and the clock) with Blender because I couldn't find any right images and the man with the umbrella was recolored because the image was black and white. I learned a lot while trying to solve the problems that came up every ten minutes...🤔 I hope you like it... I like it a lot! 😂 Ciao e grazie Davide
  23. Spent the day listening to lots of viking folk like Heilung, Wardruna, and A Tergo Lupi and got inspired. Couldn't think of a decent name for it Original image for comparison can be found here
  24. Hi, Convert to Art Text and Convert to Frame Text are present and very useful in Designer and Publisher. Please can they be added to Photo, as it's basically the same text engine, surely, but the lack of it is a real pain! Literally couldn't believe it wasn't there since its in the other two. Thanks, Chris
