  1. Go to my Youtube Channel, where you can find 35 Tutorials, with a new Tutorial coming out every 3 Days. Today we are going to have a look at 4 different applications of Perspective Tools in Affinity Photo. You can use them in a wide variety of ways, not just for perspective correction, but also to create new compositions or put new things into your photos. Make photos more dramatic or bring back the zen of a easy situation. So many possibilities. 2. It would be neat if we can implement a word count feature, similar to what Microsoft Word has, here's a photo demo of what I was talking about.
  3. For the photo of 14bits Raw format, it enters directly to Development persona when I open it and displays RGBA/32(HDR), which can be adjusted for exposure, contrast, saturation, etc.. Then I click the button to enter Photo Persona, it becomes RGBA/16. I can also make some adjustments in the studios. If I come back to the Photo Persona again, the picture is RGBA/16. So, I have some questions: 1. Will the photo quality be reduced When entering into Photo Persona from Development persona? 2. Is there any difference between adjusting in Development persona and Photo Persona? 3. What workflow should I use when processing raw photos?
  4. Hello everybody, Studio link not working in affinity Photo and Designer. Both apps are purchased from the affinity website. Both apps are updated and I'm using Mac OS Catalina which is also the latest version. Both apps are a clean install. I also try downloading the trial version of affinity publisher and for some reason only the affinity publisher has the studio link option. I've attached a screenshot which shows the three interfaces. Can anyone please help?
  5. Hi, I'm experiencing weird behaviour with the last beta. Once I've used the pen, I can't do anything with the mouse and/or the keybord like resizing a vector shape or panning the image. When it happened, I had to take back the pen, resize the shape or pan and then the mouse could do the task. Patrick [Edit : title changed since the problem is wider than vector shapes]
  6. Hi Affnity, Hi Forumers! I (ab)use Affinity Photo to edit my astrophoto, I find Affinity Photo a great piece of software! However I'm facing a problem that I can't solve: the tiff files out of AP don't work in any star stacking software. I tested Sequator, Starry landscaper, Deep sky star stacker, Iris and Siril. All report the message "unable to read files". Strange, because with jpgs everything flows. I wrote some line to the developers and that is the answer I had: "TIFF is not fully standardized. Although they are called TIFF, some formats or fields may be incompatible. Sequator uses the most popular TIFF library, but there may be still some proprietary fields the library can not recognize." Any hint, idea, suggestion you could provide? Thanks a lot for your help! G:
  7. Official Affinity Photo iPad Tutorials New to the latest update of the app (1.6.9), we've got a brand new set of tutorials that follow a more structured approach. You can access them from the Tutorials option in-app or by following this link: https://affinity.serif.com/tutorials/photo/ipad They are sorted into categories: Basic Operations Advanced Corrective and Retouching Creative Tools Filters and Adjustments Export Persona Just some quick info about the new videos: They're all shot in 4K resolution (supported on desktop machines) for extra clarity. There are localised subtitles for all the languages supported by the app (English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese Simplified, Japanese). Hope you find them useful! James
  8. In this video, We are going to show you, How to create a fantastic radial blur effect in Affinity Photo. I used Radial Blur and Equirectangular Projection effects for creating this portrait. I hope you like it.
  9. Under macOS 10.15 Catalina (and, iirc) under 10.14 Mojave, the macOS Desktop sorts Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo files under “Other” when using Stacks — rather than under “Images”, where it puts .png, .jpg, .ai, & .psd files. Is this something that needs to be addressed within the apps? I can’t find anything that suggests a user-editable way to update this.
  10. Cool, I did some typography art in Affinity. I copied texts & arranged them to create a square that surrounds another text. I grouped all the texts, then I used the photo persona to 1st copied the text, then I went to the menu, then selected >File >New from Clipboard. Then I exported it to PNG.
  11. Cool, made my 1st Cutout lettered word "Cool"

  14. Hello, this bug is being discussed in another thread, but since it's being ignored by Developers for pretty long time, I decided to refresh it by creating a new topic with some new facts and a solution. "Merge Down Layers" (Ctrl+Shift+E) is very common and frequently used command, that we use to merge layers. Although it can corrupt your image in a lot of random cases by blurring you layers after merge. You can see what happens to layers if that occurs on attached image. After 1 merge you are losing sharpness, and after 2 or 3 merges you will start to notice that image got blurred, but it will be too late – your file is already corrupted. I attached *.afphoto file, so you can reproduce bug and see why this happens. I already found a workaround in the past, which is super annoying, but better then nothing – Create Empty Layer (Ctl+Shift+N) and merge down to this new layer. But today I found an ultimate solution for Affinity Developers, which is super easy to implement, and I hope they will do it ASAP: If you rastirize lowest layer before merge, nothing will be corrupted. So before Merge we should automatically rasterize lowest layer, and then we will never corrupt our image again. Some important facts for Affinity Developers: I attached *.afphoto file, you can reproduce the bug I reproduced bug in Beta too It's not because of "Force Pixel Allignment" or "Floating point coordinates" This is critical bug, that corrupts our work (I corrupted my images without noticing, other guys from previous thread also corrupted 4+ hours of work) This is not intended behaviour, please pay attention to this one and put yourself in our place This never happened in Photoshop with similar actions To get "bugged" layer you can resize existing normal layer and it becomes corrupted for future merges To fix this bug you just need to automatically Rasterize lower layer before "Merge Down" operation Thanks, hope you fix this asap and notify us! 15. Good day, I'm well aware that the Stock Photo search panel is only available in Affinity Publisher, but, I was wondering when the Unsplash panel would come into the other Affinity Softwares. Now that I have Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo in my arsenal(ditching the subscription model of Adobe altogether), It would be very favorable if it were so. Is it somewhere hidden, perhaps? let me know. Thanks!
  16. Hello, Affinity Photo creates the bulb in the sun. Watch this video and this image. Good reading !
  17. Trick: Ever wonder how to keep track on how many assets in the folder? After all assets have been counted, add the info after the title of the sub category. Here's the illustration;
  18. Ladies & Gentlemen I am fairly new to AP and am struggling to create Aspect Ratio presets for my Instagram post images. I have followed the Instructions below but never get the option to "Create Preset" As can be seen in the screenshot the 'Create Preset' option is greyed out - this occurs if applying to an image or in this case a sample document. I would appreciate help with this. To save crop settings as a preset: Adjust the context toolbar settings. From the context toolbar, choose Presets, click the menu and select Create Preset. Type a name for the crop preset and (optional) choose a category to put it in, then click Create.
  19. For a good while now, my Affinity Photo keeps crashing right after launch, no error no nothing (I see the startup window for a fraction of a second but that's it). There's no background process running either. I tried repairing and reinstalling multiple times, didn't help. I even installed 1.7.2, but this version didn't work either. I have the same Version installed on a laptop, where it works without any issues whatsoever. I hope you'll be able to help me.
  20. Many of the adjustments, when accessed via the Adjustment panel, have defaults pre-installed. In and of itself, that's not a problem, but what is a problem is that these defaults can neither be deleted nor modified, nor replaced (this is the case at least for the Windows version of Affinity Photo). Users should be able to set their own defaults for adjustments, instead of being obliged to click away from a non-modifiable default. (see the discussion in the Affinity on Desktop Questions Forum)
  21. Hello! I'm running into a weird issue with pressure input / sensitivity when drawing in Affinity Photo. Basically, what happens is: I'll be drawing and when I switch windows (say, to do something else) and come back to my drawing - the pressure goes weird and it's like it doesn't recognize the strokes being made. Instead what happens is I'll get these 'straight lines' (with a tapered pressure). Same thing applies with erasing too. Luckily, I was able to capture a video of it. You can see in the video that I went to play a song in my web browser (Firefox, ver. 70.0.1), and when I go back to my drawing that's when it acts up. I can then save my work, close my document, re-open it, and everything is back to normal. Any idea what would be causing this issue? I'm very curious to know... Software: - Affinity Photo (1.7.3.481) Hardware: - Windows 10 (1903, Build 18362.418), AMD Ryzen 2700X, Radeon 580 8GB, 16GB DDR4 ram. - Wacom Cintiq 24 HD (Driver 6.3.37-3) Here's the YouTube link:
  22. I have hundreds of images of various sizes, mostly very large sizes, that I want to resize to a maximum width of 1920px, at 72DPI, RGB colour mode, JPG format. The height should be variable since the original images have various heights as well and I need to keep the aspect ratio to prevent distortions. (1)is this possible with Affinity Photo? (2)what would be the steps for the resizing to record as a macro. (I tried recording resizing one image and then use that recording for a batch job but AP used also a fixed height on every image resulting in many distorted images)
  23. I don't know much about color management, so I always find photo colors are not accurate when processing them. My monitor is not wide-gamut. Colorspace of my camera RAW file can be set to sRGB or Adobe RGB. Which one should I choose? Photos are mainly used for web, but I occasionally pick some of them for printing. 1. When the raw file is sRGB, how should I set the default value of color option in Affinity Photo, and the exporting option when exporting a jpg for web, or exporting other format for printing? 2. When the raw file is Adobe RGB, then how should I set them? Thank you.
  24. Here is my latest poem laid out. Not sure I'm happy with the layout just yet but it's not too far off. I used Affinity Photo to edit the background and Affinity Publisher to layout the poem. Neo_Liberal Work Ethic.pdf
