  5. Applications Affected: Affinity Photo Affinity Designer Operating Systems Affected: iPadOS/iOS Description of the issue: If you haven't given the application permission to access your Photos library then when you click on the Share button in the bottom left of the Export dialog and select 'Save Image' the application will crash. Please note the recipe below requires you to have not given access to Photos Recipe: Tap Documents > Export Tap 'Share' in the bottom left Select 'Save Image' The application will crash Known Workarounds: Once you give Affinity access to Photos it will save the image without crashing. This can be done by returning the Affinity home screen and then tapping on the + button in the top right. From there select 'Import from Photos'. You will then be promoted if you want to allow this (or not). Once you allow this you can then save without crashing. If you choose to Deny access then the 'Save Image' button will be hidden in the Share menu - this permission can be later changed in iPad Settings > Designer (or Photo) > Photos and then set that to 'Read and Write'
  6. In Affinity Photo, when creating a i.e. 12 colors palette from an image, how is the color calculated? - is it how many pixels from that color in the image? - are than the 12 colors placed in the palette in decreasing order? The first being the one of the most pixels in the image? If not, how are colors picked statistically and how are they ordered in the palette sequence? Thank you for explaining this: I need to be able to compare palettes from one painting to another...

  8. Hi All, I am seeing some nice photos from iPhone 11 and portrait mode, especially for low-key and high-key. Is there any way to do this with Affinity Photo Desktop? I saw some video on YouTube using the "lights" simulation and masks with Affinity Photo, but cannot find that clip anymore. Wondering if anyone else had some nice steps, samples to show how to create Low-Key and High-Key images with Affinity Photo (e.g. normal colour photo as source) and then end up with High and Low. Thanks in advance
  9. Hi all, Here the result of a long night chasing the last milky way for this year. It is a stack of 42 shots edited in Affinity photo with develop persona, plus other 2 for the foreground and the person (that's me!) shooting light to the universe. Sky has been stacked in sequator software, than the compositing has been done in AP, with all the fine tune required. 2 little problem found: - developing raw one by one it takes a long time; a method to apply raw settings to the entire group would be very usefull - TIFF exported from AP have something wrong. I faced several errors with them and I don't know why. It seems something well known… (using JPG everything went smooth, but I lost the 16 bit and you know, jpg… bah…) However, here the final result. Hope you like it. Have a great week end, see ya! G:

    First composite

This was my first time using Affinity Photo on iPad. It is my first composite of any sort which is a combination of a photo I took and replaced sky, painted colors to match sky and added stock photo of bird. I’m completely new to this so it was a bit cumbersome because I was finding some difficulty getting app to do as I was wanting it to do. For example....would choose the layer I was wanting to adjust exposure but it would adjust all layers, I’m sure was user error but still not sure as to what I was doing wrong. Anyways, this is my end result, would love feedback and any pointers for correcting issues I was having.
  11. Wow, love this feature, I created this paper letter that I screenshot from a PC Game. Went from full of writing to an empty letter. I even darken the lines using the pen tool with the line feature on a new layer. Then I used inpaint on the image layer.
  12. Good Day, 1234.mp4 My app keeps crashing when I use Frequency Separation even if I am just working on one photo. I've deleted the app and redownloaded it but I keep experiencing the same results. What can I do? I use a Macbook Air 13'' 2017 I've had the app for 2 years now and this problem started about 1 month ago. 1234.mp4
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76mQFsZrmvU A simple Explanation of the different Color Sliders in Affinity Photo. Did you always wonder why you need a RGB, HSL, LAB, CMYK Slider and more? In this video i will show you what they do and what they are good at. Ever wondered what HEX Color is or where that is used? I will show you :) Some questions answered in this video: What is RGB color? What is CMYK color? What is the difference between subtractive and additive Color? What is HEX Color? What does HSL mean?

  16. Photo crashes when I hide an adjustment layer and afterwards show it again. I can reproduce the issue by performing the following steps: Navigate to the curves adjustment layer in the group Double click onto the layer and reset the curves Close the dialog Hide the curves adjustement layer in the layers dock Tick the visibility checkbox in the layers dock again in order to show the adjustment layer [crash] DSC07775-Bearbeitet.afphoto
  17. Solved: From Strokerg: "I had this on my Mac here in the office, which only has 1 monitor and the only way i found to fix it was to reset the app. Just start Affinity with the Control key held down and you should get a popup asking if you'd like to reset some settings, 3 options will be selected and you can just click clear. If you now enable separated mode and open a RAW file, you should have that toolbar back." Hi, New-ish to Affinity Photo so this might be an expected feature, but I've not been able to locate any information on it on the forums or manual ( or maybe I've searched for the wrong thing. ) Issue/situation: When developing raw images in 'Separate' window mode, the 'Develop' Button is not present - only when they are all merged in a single window. Question: How do you 'Develop' a Raw image when viewing them in Separate window mode? Screenshots: See screenshots of the develop button present in 'merged' window mode and missing in 'separate' window mode. Operating system: OSX Catalina 10.15.2 Affinity Photo: Version 1.7.3 Unusual hardware: Wacom tablet Intuos pro Any help or input on this matter is much appreciated, as I'm considering moving from other editors to Affinity Photo. Thank you in advance. PS: if this post is in the wrong forum, then please let me know, and I will submit it in another.

Hi, New-ish to Affinity Photo so this might be an expected feature, but I've not been able to locate any information on it on the forums or manual ( or maybe I've searched for the wrong thing. ) Issue/situation: Sometimes when I add a level adjustment, the Histogram does not update when changing values. This issue does not seem to be consistent but not sure what would provoke it. Screen recording: See screen recording of the issue. 19. I haven’t shared any work for a while so here’s something that I was playing around with yesterday and this morning. It’s a bit more complicated that it first looks (for example, I had to recreate the top of her head which was missing from the original image: https://pixabay.com/photos/girl-portrait-fantasy-face-eyes-4258000/ ). I’m not totally happy with the result – it’s not quite ‘there’ yet – but it’s good enough for now. (It’s deliberately fairly low-res so I didn’t have to worry about too much detail.)
  20. @James Ritson provides a detailed explanation regarding the Workflow of RAW files in Affinity Photo in the following thread:
  21. After getting a new laptop I installed affinity on the new mac running Catalina. Now it no longers shows the levels of where the colors are in the level or curve control. I never had this issue with my other mac. See diagram. No matter what I do it will not display. Shown is the level control. Curves do the same things. It makes it difficult to adjust as you don't know where it clips.
  22. Hi all, Hopefully I have posted this in the correct place, although I'm not convinced I have, apologies if so. I have a problem with a panorama I have made. I didn't think to take a second row of photos for the sky, but didn't like the balance of the picture once I had blended the pano. As such I extended the sky vertically in affinity, however this has created an odd looking sky. The real solution would be to get it right first time; I will make sure to take more than one row next time, even if it is just blank sky. Out of interest though, is there anything I can do to homogenise the sky so it's not separated into the vertical zones as below? I believe the zones have been created by the colour/intensity of the lights from the buildings. Origional pano, screenshot from capture one: Pano with sky extended, screenshot from Affinity: Workflow: the pano is comprised of 17 images, all shot in RAW (3.2 secs ISO 100, F5.6) and WB corrected to same value in capture one 20, then files exported as 16 bit TIFFs to PTGui where the pano was stitched, then opened in Affinity to use Mesh Warp to adjust perspective and in-painting to accommodate the warp. The sky was then extended, as described above. Thanks in advance, Freddie
