Hi all, I recently abandoned Illustrator to use Affinity Designer on a Macbook Pro. When I use the MOVE tool to select multiple objects, I see that only 249 objects maximu will be highlighted with blue outlines. If I select 250 or more objects, and the outlines of individual objects no longer show up, which is a real pain. I want to visualize which objects I have selected. Can anyone suggest a fix for this? Thanks! -
Hey, first post here, as i could not find any solution to this. I am trying to put a text into this bear shape so that it will fill the shape inside, just like the one on the left. I feel like it should be straightforward, but I can't seem to work it out. Since it stems from a picture, I was unable to convert it to text frame in designer. I have all 3 programs available.

Hi, I have create this illustration with both vector and pixel layers. I want to add a black / white outline to it. So far I tried to look for a way I could offset the path but I could not find anything. I also tried to united/add all items but that options is not even available.

Affinity Designer / Photo, Windows 7 x64 Hello Experts, I have the problem that my hotkeys for enlarging and reducing the brush tip (] and [) only work in Photo. In Affinity Designer the same hotkeys are defined, but the brush tip does not zoom in / out. I test it in Affinity Designer in Pixel Persona with the paintbrush (B). Can anyone confirm the problem or has a solution for it? I don't like to use other hotkeys for it. Markus -

Is Affinity Designer is a good tools to make pixel art? Do I need Affinity Photo to make it (pixel art)? Is there any course of Affinity Designer to make Pixel art? -
What do you call the checkered background when you create a new document? What is it good for? Is it the same as an Artboard, then how do you use an Artboard? -
Thank you for creating such an excellent application, it has changed my life! ... I would still like to make a suggestion that would save the lives of many old school airbrushers... one way of masking through layer fusion is to do it in an unfocused way like when you apply a liquid mask applied with an airbrush, this in order to give softness to the shapes that are underneath the mask... in affinity designer the layer that has been put on the ERASE fusion when you put the "Gaussian Blur" layer effect on it DISAPPEARS! why? i only managed to solve it by converting in pixels but if i need to make a change i must start again besides the MATT effect that leaves a grey or white colour on the transparency... it is possible to fix this, applying a FX Gaussian Blur to a Vector and using ERASE FUSION LAYER'S? I explain in the images... it this a Vector LAYER (image 1) ERASE FUSION vector layer (image 2) ERASE FUSION vector layer + FX Gaussian Blur (cannot be seen) (image 3) ERASE FUSION pixel layer (normal vector + FX Gaussian Blur before transformation in pixel) (image 5) Thank you so much for reading me and allowing me to communicate with you... Hello Affinity community, here's my first attempt at a big(for me) vector project. I usually do small logo type of things. I was a bit hesitant to put this here(not confidant in my ability) but I have to give credit to Fred Lespine who inspired me to have a go after seeing his projects. It's not finished and has a lot of errors, light direction realism etc. It is a 100% vector image done in Affinity Designer 1.8. I'm a 52 year old House Builder from NZ. If you're interested the "Kiwi Rider" is an online motorcycle magazine here in NZ . If I can, you can, have a go and post your work.

Hi, I usually don't have time for creation, but those I do at work, but when I have free time, I like copying — as we did as student with paintings — appealing visuals from others. Like I said to @firstdefence , I like Art nouveau, the seventies and all those poster from the other century in which I'm born, or earlier ones. That's why I really like this artist: https://1horsetown.co.za/ Here my cover of one of his Poster from 2015. I can certainly spend more time on the hairs… just not today! The black can be atone to look more like the original, but I like this punchy one. And the lines. A lot of vertical and horizontal lines appear while zooming or dezooming, it's a bug, if you noticed this, please comment here:

I've probably read all the posts on the forums about this topic. Even the ones from almost 3 year ago. Yet the issue still remains. Is there a way to snap objects together without having a gap between the objects? I have tried the force pixel alignment and move by whole pixels. I also find that this does not only happen when snapping shapes to shapes, but also having a shape on top of another shape. It is also visible when a shape is on the side of the art board and exported to PDF format. I also tested this in Adobe Illustrator CS6, which is old, and I don't see this issue when putting shapes next to each other and exporting the file to other formats(jpg, png). The strange part is, while writing this post, I tested it in two documents. In the one I see the gaps and then in another the gap between the two shapes are gone. Please see the documents attached with examples. snapping_test.afdesign shows the gaps and snapping_test_successful.afdesign exports correctly without showing any gaps in the exported file, only in Designer itself. Please explain this, or I would really appreciate if this can be fixed or improved with an update. snapping_test_successful.afdesign snapping_test.afdesign -
The tab feature in designer is pretty useless. Before I spend time doing this with a complicated tab setup, can I import tabbed text boxes from publisher into designer without tabs getting screwed up?. TIA -
As shown in the image, I placed two objects on top of each other and slid the top one up a bit. I gave the top object 3pt width and set it as the inner width. But there is a very fine (maybe 1px) fill color around this object. The same problem persists when I visually export it. You can see it by zooming in the attached image. Is this a bug?

I’m having a hell of a time with Affinity Designer crashing on my iPad. It was fine to start, but now a month later, it crashes multiples times a session and saves at random points. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hello, I can't import .psd file to Affinity designer(ipad). In the import page, I can't choose .psd file. If I choose .psd file in my folder, it will force to open in Procreate. Even if I export .psd from AD, I can't import it. Is there any solution? :( AD ver.1.8.3 ipad ver. 13.5

Making a outline of a giraffe with the Engraving brush 03 with different stroke's.

I want a shape to not just mask another shape, but to crop each line that intersects with it. I then want to delete every line not within (or in some cases outside) a masking shape. Imagine a hundred squiggly vector lines filling a page. Now imagine a simple square, or maybe a circle (doesn't matter) placed over the lines. I want only the lines within the circle to remain. And I don't want to spend time deleting the ones outside the circle because in a more complex illustration, this is a daunting task. (see attached image) Is this possible yet? This is the one single thing I'm looking for in a vector program. I want to use vector lines as a sort of crosshatch or pattern, that are then contained within a shape. The vector lines have to be gone, not just hidden behind another shape.

Hi, I have create this brush in Pixel persona using a square brush and adding a texture that I have created using symbols in vector personal. I could not add an SVG as texture so I added an PNG. The problem is that is looks very pix-elated. Looks really bad. I tried to make the texture bigger, smaller, played with zoom but it still looks bad. Do you have any idea what I should to to make it look batter?

Hi, in the absence of Affinity Publisher, I'm using Designer to create a brochure and it is going really well so far. The new "Symbol" stuff in 1.5 makes life very easy when changing multiple things at the same time. I could do it quicker in Pages - because I know that inside out - but Pages doesn't have the finesse I require, and learning Designer is worth it. One thing I am stuck on is rounding off corners of images - or pixel layers. I have touched up the pictures in Affinity Photo, dragged the .afphoto files in, dragged them where I want them, done some layer effects etc and they look great. They would look even better with rounded corners. I have searched using Google but I have been unable to find anything - so sorry if this is a duplicate question. I did go looking. Is rounded corners on a picture something I can do in Designer? Thanks, Jez. -
I have a PNG image (attached) that I need to clone the dark background area of the image over the text at the top. How do I do that? I'm sure it's dead simple but I have tried searching all types of terms and looked through the tutorials to no avail. Thanks, ACP
