How do you enable Studiolink in Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer? It's only enabled in Affinity Publisher? -
I created a graphic in Affinity Designer. I exported it as a SVG. I opened the SVG in Adobe Illustrator to be sure it can be worked on in Adobe. I united some paths w pathfinder, saved and closed the SVG. Next time I see the file, it's gone wonky. Happened at least 2 or 3 times. Why?

Badly need autosave option

Hi Affinity, I badly need the option to autosave - maybe a toggle icon or a prompt after a few minutes of working with a new file ("Do you want to autosave this file as you work?") which would also save history. I could then close anytime (without CMD+S) and all my edits are saved. I realize that there is an autorecover function, which I've rarely ever used since Affinity software is quite stable. The problem, rather, is my own stupidity. I sometimes open a lot of files to edit and then decide to exit them - the software asks me "do you want to save?" and certainly I don't want to save all these files I just opened (especially if I made some test edits). More than once this week already I have closed down without saving documents that I had been working on. Really terrible, and then it happened again. I try and train myself to look before I close everything, but my reptilian brain doesn't always comply. -
Hi there, first off just wanna say I love Affinity Designer. Its truly a great tool and I use it for everything ✌️ I've run into a performance issue and i'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve it. It seems that every time I have a vector object with more than ~20 points the CPU usage spikes through the roof when manipulating a curve. It chills out after releasing it, but it can be quite annoying. I've looked into a few other performance forum posts and have set the view quality to 'Nearest Neighbor' & i've increased the RAM usage limit. My renderer is a 1080ti, but since it seems the CPU usage is spiking that seems to be the problem. I have an Intel i5, so not the best, but I dont really run into bottlenecks like this with any other programs like After Effects or various games. Are there any solutions to improve here outside of just getting a newer processor? If there is any other info I can provide to help out just let me know! Hello there, I don't really know why, but since yesterday the curve tool has been refusing to go all the way along any lines I create: Under Normal circumstances the red dot would be found in the corner of the frame but here it won't extend beyond the point shown. Any idea what is causing this? Cheers! Asterhysk

Hey guys. I know the term Compound Path doesn't go with Affinity Designer. But I think it makes more sense if you've used Adobe Illustrator before. So this is a curve which is one single object. What I'd like to do is break it into pieces. Is it possible in Affinity Designer? Thanks for your attention!

Hey peeps, Having a lot of issues with Designer crashing when I hit print. Happening on a more frequent basis now.... Any updates forthcoming that may resolve this issue? Cheers, George

Good day! I was wondering if there was an way to start a new artboard from a new row and a way to customize the gap between artboards. If you guys know how to do so then please share the methods. TIA! 😃 I know I can do that manually. But it'd be great if there's an easier way to do that. Best Tamzid

When I select a bunch of objects containing texts and paths, adjusting font colour affect all selected objects. Surely when I adjust font colour it should affect only text, not paths? This may not be a bug but it cannot be by design either... please correct the behaviour.

Gran Turismo Sport now allow users to import SVG files for the in-game livery editor. The only thing is, the SVG file has to be below 15Kb in memory, which is pretty tiny. It's a nice challenge though, to chop away as much unneeded information as possible, but to still get a good quality image. I created this vector file using Affinity Designer, which I then exported as the SVG file. I then used the livery editor to give my bog standard go-kart a new design. The Gran Turismo screenshots are in game. I'm just showing them to illustrate how the decal design looks on the go-kart!

Hey! I make transit diagrams and maps for fun. This one shows what is left of both electric systems (2 trolleybus lines and 1 tram line) in Vladivostok, Russia. It features a small geographical map for orientation, so both networks are only peripheral and none of them goes into the center anymore. Constructive feedback is appreciated - enjoy it! Chris

Dear Develover Team, I hope u can add free distort scale and perspective distort scale,, if I Ctrl+left click object corner transform, i can distort scale on object. AND please , if I change brush, previous brush size not automatic reset.. Pliss add this feature On AFFINITY PHOTO AND AFFINITY DESIGNER on next update, because without thats tool and automatic reset previous brush, make me bit frustrated when Im making A Illustration and manipulation photo... ex distort transform object : I hope u can respond my request, Thanks #Dear Developer Team ❤

Hello developer, First of all, thank you very much for developing this software, which has provided strong help for my work. However, in recent use, we have found a place that may be worth optimizing. I purchased the affinity designer Mac OS version. In designer role mode. When editing text (T), sometimes i want to cancel the typo and re-enter it. i will habitually use ESC to cancel the entered content. At this time, our app application, ESC, inherits the response first, so it exits the "edit text status" directly, and the input box of the input method still stays in the canvas. and If you continue to use carriage return, this part of the content will be inserted into the text (T) content. It doesn't feel smooth. It is hoped that this problem can be optimized in future iterations. thank you😀 -

When loading generative artwork - Affinity Designer slows down to unbearable levels even with relatively easy meshes This problem seems to exist on all platforms affinity runs on - which leads me to believe basic acceleration structures are not in place. Example file: https://tilings.math.uni-bielefeld.de/img/substitution/danzers-7-fold/patch.pdf Import this, try select all/ungroup/do anything to it -> framerate down to 1fps even on the beefiest of workstations Same issue can be recreated by creating any shape and copying it about 100 times. -
This feels like it might be quite a bit of a dumb question. When drawing a shape/fill freehand - with the pencil tool - is there a key or key combo that can be held while drawing, that will close the path? I am thinking of something like Illustrators pencil tool where holding the Option key (Mac) will close the path being drawn linking first and last node. I haven’t dug deeply thru the forums yet. I did look in the Affinity help: https://affinity.help/designer/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/CurvesShapes/about_linesAndShapes.html?title=About Lines and Shapes I can’t seem to find what I am hoping exists. Good day, I would like to propose some 3d effects I use on other software. Specifically, it'll be: 3D extrude 3D revolve This would greatly speed up the production especially on Isometric design (I love how Affinity Designer approach isometric design) I read on a thread here that you're not planning to create it as it is an 3D effect but kindly reconsider as this would greatly improve our workflow up to 120%. Kudos to team!

I have recently become aware of the ability to animate SVG (Affinity Designer) for the web. There are applications coming out that make it really easy, however, the file size is a serious problem if you intend to have your work in a web page as Affinity does not offer the reduction of file size. Here is a youtube video I made on 09/03/2018. It is impressive what one can achieve. This is a concept for a web homepage. If you look closely there is some really subtle animation. The balloon has a flame which gets turned on and off to make it rise, the balloon also changes size in that as it moves away into the air it gets smaller. The clouds in places are semi-transparent. Also, the sun has a haze around it which disperses as the sun bets higher in the sky. All these really subtle changes make for huge file sizes. One online SVG animator which is still in beta is svgator.com which is free but limited. I have included a file of a puppy wagging its tail and turning its head which I animated in svgator. Just drag the (1A 76 questioning puppy.svg) file onto a web browser and it will automatically play and is on infinite loop. You have to export the files as an SVG from Affinity Designer and then upload that file into the svgator system. The head, body and tail have to be different and separate files to be able to animate them: i.e. the head would be nested in affinity designer the body would be nested and so would the tail. Exported as SVG and then imported to your animator of choice and there are many out there some free. 1A 76 questioning puppy.svg

A lot of nesting and Gaussian blur was involved. The texture was very challenging to get right. I am learning realistic vectoring from Isabel Illustration who is also a member of this platform. On her review of this piece of art she cautioned me against over blurring and I hope to successfully implement her suggestion in my next piece.

Good afternoon, I am new to Affinity Designer and I am trying to design a logo for my business. I have been using Youtube video tutorials to help with most of the basic things but when trying to edit text, I am unable to locate the Character and Paragraph options in my toolbar. Should they already be there or do you need to add them manually? For example, below is a screenshot of the tutorial I am watching. and below this is my screen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
