  1. I want to create with Affinity Designer a gradient mesh. In order to be able to define a brand specific texture, I am experimenting. The texture shall be used in Powerpoint slides but also on large prints like banners. So I must work in a way that it does not raster the image, because I want to scale it infinitly. Unfortunatelly you see in the Texture.pdf that the gaussian blur applied on the shape does not exist any more. Only the color gradients work in the PDF. If I export to SVG, then the gaussian blur exits. Also if I bring the SVG to Powerpoint and Export the Powerpoint as PDF, then the shape is blured correctly. So I assume this must be an export error in the Affinity Designer 2.4. Can you please help? I have posted the export menu screen shots so you may see whether any adjustment should be made, to get it to work. Thank you. Texture.pdf Texture.afdesign Texture.svg
  2. I’m trying to find an answer to this and can’t seem to, but I would hope there is one. I am using Designer 2.x on my iPad Pro and when I select a shape tool, such as the circle, and draw some circles, then click the selection arrow tool to move some things around. The shape tool automatically switches back to the square instead of staying on the circle (or whatever shape I had selected). How can I stop it from reverting like that? I want it to remain on the shape I was drawing with. In my Settings I already have “Synchonize Tools Between Documents” checked. Although, I wouldn’t think that has anything to do with this anyway. Additionally, how can I make the pen tool keep the settings I was using to draw with on the iPad? Thank you.
  3. I have always wanted to do something on the lines of Boris Vallejo, especially the one where the dragon tattoo comes out of the guys arm. And by now I have weaned myself totally off Photoshop and Illustrator.
  4. Infected This is my first drawing using Affinity Designer 2.0 (A revamped version of the colourful Lena which I have not uploaded!) It is really a test of the updates made to the Brush Dynamics in Affinity 2.0 Created a new set of inking brushes that makes use of interpolation and the new Distance options with the brush dynamics. I have found that the brushes are much smoother, faster and more responsive..I really like the ability of 'Distance' to allow for the tapering of the nozzle. Even though you have to adjust the direction of the graph! Affinity Designer 2.0 original 400 x 400mm | 300dpi Brushes inker | Comic Grunge and Concept Painter
  5. A zombie head for Halloween! Added a sets of vector assets Zombie Vector Toolkit Haunted Forest Tree Toolkit into Resources which also includes includes the vector assets for this image
  6. This design was created using Affinity Designer and Photo. Ehh the color and quality loss after uploading is painful and have had similar results on Pinterest. Anyway, Batman the Ride is one of the greatest coasters ever and had visited Six Flags over Texas and Great America last fall. There was no cool merch for the ride anywhere, so wanted to try and create something to do the ride justice. I created the outline using the pen tool in Designer with some vector fills to block in certain areas. I then imported the file into Affinity Photo and started coloring and adding detail with various brushes. I've had good results with the Nathan Brown brush packs. Thanks to Affinity for creating this great program, I will never go back to Adobe again. I WAS NOT commissioned by DC or Six flags to create this art.
  7. Our popular Affinity Designer Neon Brushes just got a whole lot better! What's new about the pack? we've completely reworked the brushes - revisiting the real neon tube source material to create a vastly superior look. A set of time-saving Affinity Glow Styles has been added - use these to add glows to your design instantly! We've also added a set of handy background gradients. >>GET IT HERE<< Or keep scrolling to learn more. Once again, the Artifex Forge has been on an urban adventure - exploring the city's bright lights to bring you better design resources! This time I've been searching for the best neon tubes to bring this super-realistic set of neon brushes and neon glow effects to life. If you find existing neon effects limiting, lifeless and a little unrealistic, this is the perfect set for you. Most are entirely computer-generated and therefore lack the lifelike qualities and quirks of genuine neon tubing. With these brushes, you can really give your design the wow-factor. So, why are they so much better? True-to-life: they are sourced from real neon tubing, so no flat, lifeless vector neon effects. Multiple highlight options: this recognizes that when you have a group of neon tubes together, they illuminate each other, creating more highlights. Flexibility: being brushes, they're malleable giving you more scope to create the images you want. Fun: you're drawing with neon tubing... what more can I say? 8. 🇬🇧 Hi, in 1970 Bob Moog and Bill Hemsath introduced the Mini Moog Model D, a sound revolutionary at the time and still today. Little tribute to this wonderful machine with these illustrations. I had to “slightly” modify the height proportions so that the whole thing fits in a 5120 x 2880 px format!…

  11. 🇬🇧 Style exercise: I have had this watch for several years and I wanted to do an illustration of it. So, macro photographs, documentary research with the PDF file of the manufacturer's user manual, visuals gleaned from the web, dimensions taken directly from the watch (difficult and ineffective in the end), search for typographies (Eurostyle essentially)... I capitalized my time by focusing on the construction of the dial, hoping that the observer would not see the less “realistic” and refined parts: I did not want to spend too many hours on this project, so I adopted a production-optimization strategy (and also on the optical confusion caused by reflections on chrome surfaces…). So I took care of the construction, the symmetries, the few textures, the elimination of right angles (which do not exist in real reality) and the coherence of the lighting. I neglected the exterior of the dial. The leather is a hack based on several compiled and rasterized visuals. Note: I noticed slowdowns in the display of the illustration with the use of Live Filters Addition of grain and Blur (AD v2.4 - Mac Mini M1 16 GB - BenQ PD2700U 4K in HDMI).
  12. Hi everyone, I recorded this quick tutorial on how to draw the Celtic Knot in Affinity Designer. I hope you guys find it interesting.
  13. Hi: Mac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 (Intel) Processor: 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Graphics: Radeon Pro 560 4 GB macOS: Ventura 13.6.5 Hardware acceleration: On Metal US - English Publisher 2 2.4.0 Designer 2 2.4.0 Photo 2 2.4.0 Problem App launch causes bouncing icons in dock and slow opening (hanging). From the console log error 09:46:04.962502-0400 taskgated-helper com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2: Unsatisfied entitlements: com.apple.security.application-groups error 09:46:04.962532-0400 taskgated-helper Disallowing: com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2 What Application are you using? [Designer/Photo/Publisher] This problem affects all apps but I am reporting it when opening Designer 2 since the attached logs are from Designer 2. Are you using the latest release version? See above Can you reproduce it? Yes, but it is totally random and intermittent. Does it happen for a new document? Not related to documents or new documents. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: So today after booting the computer I opened Publisher 2 which caused the icons to bounce and app to hang. I then opened the console and started streaming messages. With the console logging, I opened Designer 2 which also caused the icons to bounce and app to hang. The console log included error messages being caused by Designer 2 at the 09:46:04.962502-0400 and 09:46:04.962532-0400 timestamp as shown above. The console log also contains other messages related to Designer 2. It would appear that these errors are causing the bouncing icon and slow opening (hanging). For comparison, I again used the console to log Designer 2 being opened normally. The Console 2 All.txt file contains these messages. Hope these logs can assist in resolving this problem since it is a major nuisance on some days. The attached console zip file contains the console log output in text files. Console All.txt is the complete output from the console when Designer 2 had a problem. Console Error.txt is the error messages only from the console when Designer 2 had a problem. Console Activities.txt is activities from the console when Designer 2 had a problem. Console 2 All.txt is is the complete output from the console when Designer 2 opened normally. Regards, Maury Console.zip
  14. Saw this from a video from the affinity YouTube channel and wanted to know how this was done, since had asked and someone told me it was brushes maybe but they weren't 100% sure. So I wanted to know if someone knows how to do so and if you could show a small tutorial if possible since I wanted to test this on a project in affinity designer v2 and in affinity photo. Hopefully I put this in the area of the forums to ask for help.
  15. Another video! When I lived on the Isle of Wight, we could hardly move without falling over a Morris Dancer. As a folksinger, I naturally met and made friends with a lot of dancers and musicians there. Some years ago, a lady name Helen Akitt wrote this funny song poking gentle fun at her Morris chums, a parody of the lovely song The Whitsun Dance, and I've been singing it ever since I discovered it. The assets in this still--the grass, trees and flowers--actually came from DrawPlus. I saved them as svg and imported them into AD. The unusual format with decorations down each side is because I made the 'pages' in A3 format with a view to printing them some time; YouTube resizes everything to 16:9, which would leave black bars at the sides. And now I'm going to have a rest . . .
  16. Learning the Affinity Designer Tools, I wanted to draw up a quick Superman sketch and ink/color in Affinity Designer. Pretty straightforward, draw, scan, pen tool, and color.
  17. After the 1.6 update, the expand stroke function that wasn't accurate with rounded rectangles before, now is completely broken (see screenshot of a rounded rectangle, circle, and a cog). Upd. It seems to happen only in certain affinity files, not all of them. Regards, Anton
  18. I was going to say that I am fairly new to the Affinity Suite but thinking back, I guess that I started in 2019. I have used all three extensively since I found them. I am another one who moved away from Adobe after many years, which I started when it was creative suite 3 and I upgraded and subscribed all the way along. I use Affinity just for fun now, since I have retired, but I still find much joy in being creative. I typically use Affinity to create images and whatnot for use in my 3D projects, as image wraps, and the like. I'll share two projects that share some assets. The first is my sardine can. I created this after I spent time drawing a clip art fish as a challenge to myself. I did borrow two assets from Pixaby - the tomatoes and the sailing ship. The second is my three fishes pub sign, also created in Affinity Designer. I sure am glad that I happened across the Affinity products. BTW, I am just posting to share my work and sort of introduce myself. I am not looking for critiques.
  19. My latest picture quiz round. Tv set created in designer. 20 placeholders inside the TV image for the images. All images converted to B&W and a levels adjustment on the majority of images. I created masks to obliterate the backgrounds in the images to take away the fussy details. in APhoto. designed on an A4 will be enlarged to A3 one per team on the night. Comments on the creation and final (almost) presentation as always are welcome. have fun with identifying the faces. As always I look forward to @William Overington blistering observations which are 2nd to none
  20. 🇬🇧 The current version (v2.4) of AD does not allow you to rename a selection of several layers: if you run the command, it is ONLY the first (at the top of the list in the Layers palette) which is renamed (?!). Too bad, it seems so obvious, this impossibility is very frustrating... but perhaps the extended function will be implemented in the future... In the case where you ONLY have curves to rename and you accept that after this manipulation they become only simple curves, select them all, launch the “Merge curves” command, rename the object of this merger , then run the “Separate curves” command. Each curve resulting from this last command will have the name given above. @GarryP: This is a workaround to rename multiple curve layers with the same properties under the same name. Disclaimer: This won't work with everything.
  21. 🇫🇷 Hi, below the three keyboards of the brand apple all in vector. Can be practical for tutorials with each independent key. The following typofaces were used: Avenir, SF Compact and SF Pro Display. These typofaces are free of rights. Screen prints are made with characters. To view the many characters (more than 5,000!…) of the SF Pro Display font, the Symbol SF (free) application is very practical, but the Codepoint utility (€9.99) is perhaps more effective with more than 70,000 items!… MAGIC KEYBOARDS Apple.zip
  22. I did a bunch of edits on dozens of layers, which I then exported as a pdf and also individual images through export persona. During the process, I also made a copy of the affinity file, then continued editing, saved the original project (File > Save), then opened the forked one, edited that, saved it (I was saving the project several times in between my edits, via menu.) Today I wanted to continue working on it, but all my yesterdays edits are gone. I cannot imagine how that could happen, as the time of the files having been modified is the late night time from yesterday, the time after I made those edits. How could they all disappear from both affinity files? I believe that the last edits disappeared only after I finally closed Affinity Designer app, because I switched between the two projects I worked on a few times - I saved one, closed it, opened the other, and the edits were indeed there. They however disappeared - all and on both projects - over night, that is, after I closed the app, apparently. Steps I took: I opened previously saved affinity project A I did some edits on it and saved it by going to the menu > File > Save project I made its copy in Finder under the name B I continued editing project A I exported its layers into a pdf I closed A and opened project B I made some edits, exported the layers to individual png images and saved the project I closed Affinity (there was no warning about unsaved edits, I made sure I saved the project before closing it) This morning I open A and it looks exactly as I left it BEFORE yesterday's edits - all I did yesterday is lost. Same for project B. System: macOS Ventura 13.6.4 RAM 16 GB Processor 3,1 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 Affinity Designer 2.4.0
  23. I have created a phone mockup, and placed it into my file. I now want multiple duplicates of my mockup in my file, but change them up a little. Is there a way to duplicated this embedded file without all duplicates referring to the same embedded file? I cannot unembed it because I use it to replace the screen of the mockup. I cannot place it again because I made changes to the mockup for it to better fit in the context of my file. How can I duplicate it without it pointing to the same "embedded file"? Many thanks in advance!
  24. Hello, I noticed that the top rule for placing horizontal guides was not displayed when Stage Manager was activated. Simply disabling Stage Manager makes the rule reappear. I hope this can help you improve your software.
  25. I create most of the Quizzes for my local bowls club and I always l try to make the half time break quiz a bit different. Most of the time I just hash a picture quiz together with no shape of form but I thought of this design for the latest picture quiz. the 16 Box layout and numbers created in Designer. The rest of the work in Photo. I usually just pick images at random but sometimes with a theme. This one has a theme which once guessed makes the quiz even easier.
