  1. In this tutorial, I'm going to show you an easy way to draw Tech-circles, you can then use them to create your own HUD or they can be use in any Si-Fi composition. I hope you enjoy it!!
  2. The problem just happens as it titles, I want to install fonts on Affinity Designer for iPad as the Affinity page tutorial follows, going to settings, pressing the cloud icon, locating the fonts I want to install, select each weight (file) such as bold, light, etc, and then tapping on "Open" but after that nothing happens, the fonts don't show on the list, tried this several times, also checked the font file extension and it is .ttf and .otf and none of them show, also checked on the text studio to see if them were just not showing up on the list but were available to use and nope, the fonts weren't installed, and I don't know what to do anymore! I've tried several times with different files and nothing happens, every time I repeat the profes of the cloud, select and open is like if I just did nothing, the list keeps empty and that's it, what could be happening?
  3. In this lesson we set up a document inside of Affinity using guides to create bleeds. Then we go on to create a business card. Check it out and go create. https://youtu.be/tDxQaOVVWrg *Please note that this was created in 2015 using version 1.2, there have been a lot of updates since and the upcoming release of 1.7 will solve my work arounds for this tutorial. 5. Hello designers, it's halloween month so it seems the ghosts are cooking something:
  6. My new series is on the way, I am trying sci-fi style illustration in this series. October is little bit busy. So sad.
  7. Hi, I've recently switched over from Adobe Flash to Affinity D. And I'm really digging the whole experience so far . Before doing iso stuff in Fash was a real chore. But with AD's speedy zooms and new isometric tool it's so much easier and faster (plus all the lines are clean!). Here's a few icons I've been working on in case anyone might be interested. Cheers, Rob.

  9. When setting Stroke options, the dialog has a contrast problem for the arrowhead options. They're impossible to see in the Light UI, and although they're better in the Dark UI they should still be improved. Light UI: The rightmost and bottom arrowhead options are not visible: Dark UI: Though they're visible, the vertical lines in the left- and rightmost options are too faint:
  10. Please add a note "(this will stop switching to previously used tool after pressing a hotkey twice)" or something along those lines to the option in preferences called "Use shift key to cycle tool groups" It's not clear at all, I was actively looking for this solution (turning off the double hotkey press), I was staring at this option and I just didn't think it would have anything to do with it. It just isn't something predictable that when we toggle an option with a specified effect that it has a hidden disabling effect.
  11. My latest work is Affinity Designer and Procreate. I hope you will like it. If you want to watch the entire production process, you can visit my youtube channel.
  12. Hey! And here we go again - all three unconnected tram networks of Barcelona, Catalunya, in my unofficial interpretation. I assigned every network a primary color with ligther colors derived from. Now all six modern tram routes have the same color. Latest news is that the connection via the Av. Diagonal is now being planned. That will finally link the two modern tram systems. And the heritage streetcar called tramvia blau is currently undergoing renovation. The Funicular del Tibidabo is shown as well. And I have implied direct connection to the Metro Barcelona too. Have a good night or day! Chris PS: Feedback is welcome and much appreciated!
  13. Greetings, and good evening ... after searching for about four hours now for a solution for my problem ... I've come here, really hpoing, someone can help me with this. So ... I made a flyer for print, with all three programs, Affinity Photo (for picture editing and converting them into CYMK, after the original try to export the PDF directly from RGB into a CMYK file), Affinity Designer (first try to design the flyer, with the result of a "red tinted" pdf) and Affinity Publisher (same result). I can't seem to get the right result after exporting the file into a printable pdf. Always got that red tint, and frankly, after trying for about four hours, I'm done ... with this *PEEP* programs. I searched the internet for a solution of that problem. The screenshot shows the difference between the look of the file in Affinity Designer and in browser or pdf viewer. The file looks more "yellowish" in AD. I've also opened the settings, with which I run the program. As I wrote, I'm really done with this ... *peep* ... really. I've had the same problems when exporting to jpg files ore other files as well. Colours seem way off sometimes and I've read every topic about this as I could. There seem to be others, with the same problems. Maybe someone out there knows whats off? Best Regards Mel
  14. This image of an oak tree amongst cider apple trees at sunset was used to illustrate some writing at matthewslater.org.uk. It worked quite well, though I had no idea how the finished image would look. My iPad struggled hugely with the complexity of the trees and I had to expand and merge elements to reduce the number of paths and points. In the end it still became painfully slow to edit which was a pity as I could have tightened it up more. I tend to work in cmyk so this might look a little odd when posted as rgb.
  15. In two cases, when trying to update from 1.7.1 to 1.7.2 and also from 1.7.2 to 1.7.3 when I downloaded the update setup file, it is interruped by "Failed" error. I have to download the regular latest version, have to reboot the notebook (before that the C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer folder is inaccessible - behaving like it's deleted but it's not - I have no rights to the folder even as an admin) and then do the normal instalation.
  16. For those of us switching from Photoshop to Affinity due to, well let's be honest - Adobe's greed, it would be very nice indeed if you included more in your help feature on desktop for switchers. For example, there is absolutely no information on how to select and delete part of an image - a very basic function in all image editors. We are forced to Google for this information and when we do find it, there is no information on how to switch from vector mode to raster mode in order to get the tools necessary to complete the action. To put it bluntly, that is pretty annoying. If you users to continue to switch, you really should make it easier than an hour of Googling to solve the basics to get started. My 2ยข.

  21. Last year Iafter I graduted, I worked as an IDX designer at a mobile phone company. Like most companies in China, employees worked almost 12 hours a day at this company. I did not have so much time to study or improve my skills at that period. The same year, Chinese developers launched a campaign called "996ICU" to against this huge exploitation. In the spring of 2019, I quited the job. Now, I want to change a lillte bit of this world, and tell meyself, how many beautiful views that I can find out after quiting 996. I will keep updating.

  23. It happens to me very frequently that the hand tool [H] remains selected and although I select any other such as move [V], pen [P], text [T] , etc., the hand tool remains active. Even when another tool is visually marked on the panel. The only way out of this situation is to save and close the document and reopen it. It is very difficult to work like this. It happens to someone else? My O.S. is 10.13.6 - Intel Core i7 3,49 GHz - 32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
  24. Hello, I was wondering if within Affinity Designer is there a "Free transform tool" to allow perspective distort with shapes, this is something that can be done within illustrator where you can take two points and can move them together or further apart with equal distance like the example below. You can kinda do this with the "Corner" tool set to straight but this is set to only one angle when perspective distort can change the angle. Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.
  25. Hello designers, since autumn is here, it's time we change our desktop background. And in order to be up to date with the current season I present to you an Autumn Background that you can easily make in Affinity Designer:
