  1. Hello- If this topic is covered elsewhere I apologize. I've been looking for my first graphics/drawing tablet to use with Affinity Designer while keeping it under $100. Are there any that you suggest? Is AD compatible with anything that works with MAC? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Hi, Vectorize a photo with Affinity Designer is it possible (In automatic)? Can I transform png? How is it possible? Thank you.
  3. I need to do some operation like split by line, but now it is seems not work on 1.8.5. And I need offset feature in affinity designer (like rhino)😘
  4. Hello, I was wondering if within Affinity Designer is there a "Free transform tool" to allow perspective distort with shapes, this is something that can be done within illustrator where you can take two points and can move them together or further apart with equal distance like the example below. You can kinda do this with the "Corner" tool set to straight but this is set to only one angle when perspective distort can change the angle. Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.
  5. Bit of a fan so decided too try my hand drawing using a mouse, of some characters from the show with AD vectors and Persona pixel brushes for skin texturing. First of four Portraits - "The Child"
  6. Just a silly experiment which I was playing around with after half-remembering something I saw on a TV show. Nothing special, just thought some people might like to see it, and maybe it will motivate someone into making something better. (All the Live Filters I used on this really hammered my machine – poor little thing.) Note: In case anyone is interested, the globe was originally monochrome and the background was a full-colour photo, the rest was created in either Photo or Designer.
  7. Hi, I am under the impression that there is no tool that automatically gives the area of a given shape. Is there any hope that this would come out in a future update? This would be incredibly useful! Thank you.
  8. Recent start to a new idea, all Affinity Designer, still and videos. Part one - Part two - Part three- Please enjoy my artistic madness!
  9. Vector illustration of a nice jellyfish made with Affinity Designer
  10. Can someone please check why this shape "combines" so horribly? Debug Doc Shapes.afdesign
  11. Vector based, from the #QueensGambit Character, my stylization Using #AffinityDesigner on iPad more of my work on insta: @jhonatan.ssilva www.youtube.com/jhonatanssilva brushes used MVB package: gumroad.com/jhonatanssilva
  12. Hi everybody, first of all I'm not professional at using Affinity right now but keen to improve. I've come to a point where I don't know how to proceed or not sure if there is a more clever way in doing it. My Target: I would like to fill in all enclosed areas in a vector frame. And have borders and the enclosed areas as seperate vectors. The vector consists only of borders surronding empty areas. My Problem Vector Below u find a vector work, where I would like to fill all enclosed areas with white while ( not really a must have but would be nice to have) [ and the surrondings should be black as an border.] Currently I do the following: 1. ADD funktion so i get one big Vector where all borders are connected 2. I subtract this big vector from a new white layer in the very back. 3. Then I use the split up function to split this into pieces 4. Deleting superimposed layers -manual work- Sometimes difficult and not possible sometimes crazy vector failurs... 5. Sometimes usable results... Maybe you have a more sufficient way in solving my problem. *Incase this has been mentioned already I'm very sorry but I didn't find it using the search function.* Thank you in advance for your input! PS.: Very best from Germany stay healty. Silent.
  13. How do I prevent it? I thought I finally had the hang of curves and it seems I don't. 😩 I don't recall doing anything different to change the behavior because it I've had been doing these for about an hour or two and it worked every time until it didn't.
  14. Hello artists and creatives, I am posting three videos and 5 still frames of progress creating an artwork. More to come and post here in time for this. I have been struck by an Idea that may distract me a bit. I will continue this in a few days. Video part one - Video part two - Video part three -
  15. Browsing for something else, I came across a poster advertising Peugeot cycles, and I was inspired to have a go myself. After quite a few changes of colour and relative size, I finally settled for this: The original is A2 size, though I don't intend to print any copies. Here's a bigger (but not full size) crop: And here's the original tiger, which I made first. I dropped the orange markings for the poster, as the tiger clashed with the bike (and we have some gorgeous white tigers in the local zoo). Oh, and if you were wondering, Walsall is the English town I grew up in. It's not noted for its bikes, but is famous for its saddlery and leather goods, and lorinery, which is the metal bits and pieces in horse harness.
  16. Can we add one more tool to the boolean set? A "merge" tool like in illustrator? The current "add" tool reminds me a lot of the "Unite" tool in Illustrator. It's like a scorched earth approach where everything is combined into one shape with one set of properties. The "merge" tool in Illustrator allows object with differing attributes to cut into one another like a cookie-cutter does. Also, I can put a fill shape of another color behind a vector fill with a negative shape and it will essentially fill that negative space. This is such an essential part of my workflow. I watch others forced to fill objects when there is still a closed stoke or go back in afterward and re-draw the existing shapes as fills only. What about a live paint fill tool that does not require a continuous united path in order to fill it, but instead recognizes all four sides being closed in some way, whether by the same stroke or different overlapped strokes?
  17. Hey guys! - I'm just plugging a YouTube tutorial I did on how to create your own beskar steel using Affinity Photo & Affinity Designer. I've also got a few other tutorials up on my page that you might wanna check out. I suspect forum users are already pretty savvy to a lot of the techniques etc, but there may still be something of interest there for some of you. Hope everybody's doing well and hanging in there during these chaotic times. Cheers! Beskar Steel Tutorial
  18. Below is my list of written tutorials I have done over the years. The first few were done using early versions of Affinity programs but they should still be ok. Some menus may have changed or tools look different but the basics are the same. Also most are for Affinity Photo, but some could be done in Designer. Plus the "Beginners Look at Affinity Photo" ones will pretty much be the same in Affinity Designer and Publisher as all 3 programs have same basic functions. It basically shows 3 methods to get Infrared style images. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0c0mgqfrbrdv4q5/Affinity%20Tutorial%20-%20Infrared-v2.pdf?dl=0 Affinity Photo – Convert German Video – Film Strip Image in 3 parts pt 1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/iewleyt95a8qhdk/Photo_Film_Strip_-_German_Tutorial_pt1.pdf?dl=0 pt 2 https://www.dropbox.com/s/2j35gkvxr9emcq6/Photo_Film_Strip_-_German_Tutorial_pt2.pdf?dl=0 pt 3 https://www.dropbox.com/s/6yvxubgne0kqct4/Photo_Film_Strip_-_German_Tutorial_pt3.pdf?dl=0 Affinity Photo – False Water and Reflection https://www.dropbox.com/s/4sm0qqikvp0hs0a/affinity-photo-false_water_and_reflection.pdf?dl=0 Affinity Photo – Chinese Painting Styles in 2 parts pt 1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/uvqn9hf9mo2xwbr/Chinese_Painting_-Pt_01-_affinity-photo.pdf?dl=0 pt 2 https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ovc317ncjjosd0/Chinese_Painting_-Pt_02-_affinity-photo.pdf?dl=0 Affinity Photo – Beginners Look at Layer Masks https://www.dropbox.com/s/c0lsf9e7kdymdyd/A-Photo-%20Beginners%20Look%20At%20Layer%20Masks.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 1 – Better Cloning https://www.dropbox.com/s/a1d283mn7icltzc/ACTIV8-issue1-BetterCloning.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 2 – Spheres https://www.dropbox.com/s/igufcf3unu4z84b/ACTIV8-issue2-spheres.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 3 – Affinity Photo - Select Tree - Replace Sky – 2 ways https://www.dropbox.com/s/lx0ko7f2xjqsg3r/ACTIV8-issue3-replacesky.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 4 – Tri-Fold Image https://www.dropbox.com/s/1iyp59mr3bzjlri/ACTIV8-issue4-TriFold-image.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 5 – Emboss With Lighting https://www.dropbox.com/s/t5r6tiz3c7k7o1s/ACTIV8-issue5-emboss-with-light.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 6 – 3D Text https://www.dropbox.com/s/gif1x6xrtfrp2z8/ACTIV8-issue6-Three-D-Text.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 7 -Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher – A look at Styles This written tutorial, mainly aimed at beginners of any of the Affinity Software made for PC and Mac. It may work the same on iPad version but I don’t own one so can’t confirm that it will. It looks at what Styles are, how to make some Gradient Styles and some Styles made from images. Then how to Export and Import your newly made Styles. After that I do a basic overview of a couple of video tutorials I have made in the past. Using the Mirror Filter and the Equation filter to make new images, to then make Styles from. Lastly, another overview of a recent video tutorial, which looks at using the Vector Crop Tool in Affinity Designer to grab sections of an image to then make Styles from. The end of this PDF tutorial has interactive links to all the video tutorials and links to the downloads of all the Styles I have made in these video and written tutorials. https://www.dropbox.com/s/82szaatnflaw8fk/ACTIV8-issue7-Styles.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 8 – Affinity Photo – Make Sketch Image With Just The Channel Mixer A while ago I made an Affinity Photo video tutorial about making a sketch image just using the Channel Mixer adjustment. I thought I’d up-date it slightly in this written tutorial, which can be done in Affinity Photo, Designer or Publisher. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6etmt3am6ljprwn/ACTIV8-issue7-ChannelMixer-Sketch.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 8a – Affinity Software – 4 Creative yet simple ways to use Blend Modes This is a written tutorial update of a video tutorial I did in Feb 2018. They are fairly basic edits and will work best with an image that has a white background. So, I will use one I got from Pixabay, as are the other images used. Links to the video and image are in the written tutorial. The video was done in Affinity Photo but this will be done in Affinity Designer but I see no reason why it can’t also be done in Publisher. https://www.dropbox.com/s/sluebvjl86nuk8e/ACTIV8-issue8-Four-Uses-for-Blend-Modes.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 9 – A Beginners Look At Affinity Photo part 1 Looking at opening images and saving your edits. Plus, file formats also a look at the Layers Panel and Colour selection Although tutorial is for Affinity Photo all will work pretty much the same in Affinity Designer And Publisher https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ztaxn4siom7evd/ACTIV8-issue9-Beginners%20Look%20at%20Affinity%20Photo%20pt01.pdf?dl=0 Activ8 issue 10 – A Beginners Look At Affinity Photo part 2 Looking at opening and setting up a new document other than an image. The Brush Tool and changing the Brush Tips. Then looking at the different types of Pixel and Vector layers you can make. Layer Masks and their use. Plus, a quick look at Text and Shape layers and the Glyph Browser. As with part 1, most (if not all) of the information in this tutorial will work just as well in Affinity Designer and Publisher as all 3 programs are so similar. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kourodnfojwq26l/ACTIV8-issue10-Beginners%20Look%20at%20Affinity%20Photo-pt02.pdf?dl=0
  19. Hi there! Well, this is my entry for a competition here in Mexico. Telecom enterprise izzi does an anual competition to do a work using their Logo. With the little time I had, I made this Isometric design. Best regards!
  20. I am trying a separate a portion of curve into another layer. But can't seem to find any option! May be I am missing something obvious - could anyone please help?
  21. Hello, I present you this flying pig made with Affinity Designer in various styles.
  22. Feed back much welcomed. This is my first attempt at a vector self portrait. I’ve learnt a lot of techniques doing it.
  23. Hi all, I am wondering if anyone here knows how to make a pattern like this in Designer. Using illustrator, all I have to do is make a dashed line stroke on a circle. Notice how the lines get wider the farther they are away from the circle. I have not been able to figure out how to do this effect with affinity. The dashed stroke seems to just make dots that surround the circle with Designer.
  24. i like they symmetry tool in affinity designer , but i wish i can raise the count of it so i can make better artwork
