  1. My awesome employer switched us all over to Box Drive from Box Sync without telling us. Apparently this switch hosed a bunch of files (files no longer local, internal links broken, unrecognized files types, fun.) Some (not all) Affinity files cannot be opened. I get an error that the file type is not supported. To remove Box from the problem I moved the problem files to a local folder, but no change. Any thoughs? Could I have created these with a beta version? (Currently running 1.7.2)

    [AD] [AP] Misc illustrations

Hello everyone, Here's some works I've done with AD and AP.
  3. Hello, I was wondering if within Affinity Designer is there a "Free transform tool" to allow perspective distort with shapes, this is something that can be done within illustrator where you can take two points and can move them together or further apart with equal distance like the example below. You can kinda do this with the "Corner" tool set to straight but this is set to only one angle when perspective distort can change the angle. Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.

    Lab Mice in Cage

They are not Pinkie or the Brain. Took a little bit to figure out how to create translucent curves. I created this illustration to use in an eLearning project I designed.

  7. British "General Grant" Medium Tank in Desert camouflage of 1942. My first large project in Affinity Designer as I usually draw in Xara Designer. AD is phantastic, but still lacks some of XD's features like blend, mesh etc. Oliver, www.o5m6.de
  8. Last year Iafter I graduted, I worked as an IDX designer at a mobile phone company. Like most companies in China, employees worked almost 12 hours a day at this company. I did not have so much time to study or improve my skills at that period. The same year, Chinese developers launched a campaign called "996ICU" to against this huge exploitation. In thw spring of 2019, I quited the job. Now, I want to change a lillte bit of this world, and tell meyself, how many beautiful views that I can find out after quiting 996. I will keep updating.
  9. Hey! I love making transit maps and diagrams for in my spare time. Here is today's quick few hours design — my unofficial transitdiagrams of the tramway system in Конотоп/Konotop, Україна/Ukraine. What do you think? Feedback is welcome! Btw: Although I researched very thoroughly it might be possible that some station names are not right. Please tell me any mistake so that I can update the map! Have a nice day/evening! Chris
  10. After the 1.6 update, the expand stroke function that wasn't accurate with rounded rectangles before, now is completely broken (see screenshot of a rounded rectangle, circle, and a cog). Upd. It seems to happen only in certain affinity files, not all of them. Regards, Anton
  11. Wouldn't it be a great feature to support Microsoft xaml-files for drawingbrushes? There are some svgtoxaml converters out there, but it would be a much better workflow to export the xaml-files direct from Affinity-Designer. So I can use my favourite tool to design my drawingbrushes in my wpf-applications.
  12. So I've been working on a logo in Affinity Designer 1.6 for an upcoming project I'm working on. I'm very new to graphic design and don't know my way around the software too well. It's a typographic logo, and I've been drawing all the letters myself (haven't been typing with a font), but have been struggling when trying to make myself a letter A and N. So far each letter is 1"x1" (fits into a square) and have been made to all have their arms, stems, bars, etc., to be the same width. At first, I was having no trouble, as all of the letters were made up of straight lines (like I, T and H), but now that I've come to the letters A and N, I have a dilemma: they contain diagonal parts. At first, I thought this wouldn't be an issue, as I thought I could just make the part as a vertical rectangle, and then rotate it to make it diagonal, but as I went along I found shapes won't snap while rotating. So while I could rotate it and get it close to the angle I needed for it to fit perfectly, it wouldn't be perfect (and as I'm trying to make it a professional logo, I need it to be perfect). I thought the best way to do do it would be to make an angled line, copy it, and move the copy 0.2 inches in the direction perpendicular to the original (as shown in the images below), but haven't found a way to do it in this program. Does anyone have any idea how to make this work? Or have a similar solution using a different method?
  13. Hi, I just wanted to share an issue I have been facing since I use Affinity Designer (and the Affinity suite in general). I don't think it has already been discussed on other topics and if so I apologise. I use the Affinity suite (Designer, Photo and Publisher) and my issue concerns the layers order. I'm used to organise my artboards, groups and layers according to their position in the workspace of the document. For instance I put elements that are on the top left of the workspace, on the top of my layers panel. Then I put elements that are on the top right, then elements that are below, etc. (You can find an attached picture to better understand my organisation ). Those who are familiar with the Affinity suite can figure my issue: Affinity apps always place the latest created element on top of the layers panel list. This is a major issue for me when I automatically duplicate layers: the display order in the layers panel and the order of my elements in the workspace are opposite. So I have to take time to reorganise my layers and I'm still a bit frustrated by that. I don't know whether I am the only (weird) one to order elements this way and I don't think it is currently possible to solve that issue. So I would be more than grateful if Affinity could let us choose the spreading order of the elements on the layer panel!
  14. Hi, I’m having two issues with the colour picker tool on my iPad Pro 12in while using an Apple Pencil. Firstly, the pencil is not selecting the colour I choose; ie, I select the tool, move and hover over a colour, release the pencil off the screen (mimicking the finger process) but it does not select the color, ie the swatch does not change to the colour I have chosen. The selection process works perfectly when I use my finger. Secondly, selecting the colour picker results in two magnifying selection dots that hover over the screen, rather than the expected single dot (see attached pic).
  15. Good day, Is there a way to see what the Pantone colour value of an object is? I'm working in a "Print (Press-Ready)" document. I applied a Pantone colour, and also added the colour to the swatches panel. If I hover over that swatch later, how do I confirm what Pantone colour that swatch represents? Thank you.
  16. hey people, just posting here this quick example, I did using Affinity designer, I think this can guide you by this art tips. 1 - Cartoon, use stroke over the shapes 2 - Flat vector by using only shapes, hard edges by shadow - NO Opacity 3 - Painting, using Pixel Persona, just draw inside of the shapes, and apply a realistic shading composition with brushes. thanks for watching, download full project access available exclusively for patrons members https://www.patreon.com/jhonatanssilva

  18. Hey! I do transit maps and diagrams for fun in my spare time. Here is another one I did a few months ago - in March. In bright and dark. It's the tramway network in Kagoshima, Japan. What do you think about it? Have a great week! Chris
  19. Hey :-) I do transit maps and diagrams for fun in my spare time - if you want to know a little bit more about me just follow this link. This was a rather quick design started on a Tuesday afternoon and was finished due to breaks and beers on Thursday evening at the End of June. Posted it on Instagram and Twitter back then. Here it is - my unofficial transitdiagram of the tramway (and BRT line) network of Strasbourg in France. Actually I have done two versions: one showing the 2019 situation (plus two planned stations on the D line) and the other one showing also the near future expansions included (two more stations on the D line, extensions of the A and F lines). Have a nice week! And of course: Feedback is always welcome and appreciated. Chris

  22. Tell please, Do you plan to make such a convenient brush setting like in Photoshop. It is much more convenient than at the moment in Affinity Designer or affinity photo.I'm talking about the circle above the arrow in the picture below. very easy and convenient to change the brush - just press mouse 2. and in Affinity Designer i could not change roundness for brush, I thing option SHAPE in brush setting can set roundness but not for all brushes. I beg you to implement such an implementation is very convenient for drawing. Thank you for your attention and have a nice day.
  23. Hello everybody! One of my Airmen is leaving to a new duty station, and following tradition we are presenting him with an appreciation going-away gift. His family are big Star Trek fans, so I thought giving him a Star Trek themed piano finish plaque a-la a "PADD" would be neat. Everything is a vector. For the hangar, I edited out everybody from the squadron photograph I did and combined it with some test shots without folks to get a full hangar without people. I tossed that image into Inkscape to get a vector from the photograph after doing some edge detection, levels, and black-and-white adjustments in Affinity Photo. I am seeking a blueprint of the hangar so I can make a nice clean one, this vector is a mess but it worked in a pinch. The Star Trek bits are taken from an LCARS program called LCARS 47. I had to convert them to vector, but that wasn't difficult at all since the shapes are easy. The Starfleet Intelligence pin is by the DeviantArt user cbunye (pending permission from him for me to engrave it.) Mockup done in Blender.
  24. Trying to split a shape into 3 piece, would there be any method of resting the binding box?
  25. My Strawberry Monkey

    Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey

Hi all, hope all is well, its been a while since I posted any updates. I've finally completed the first of many children's picture books, you may have seen a copy a while back, but I wasn't happy with the end results from the printers and there has been many, many changes. I have also designed the website in Affinity Designer which contains games and free activities for schools and parents. Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey is the series of books and are stories of friendship based around a cute, pink, lovable, but somewhat clumsy monkey who will certainly cause a few chuckles. The website is mystrawberrymonkey.com and you can find our first paperback here on Amazon If you have grandkids, kids, nieces or nephews go check this out! Allan Thompson
