  1. I'm wondering if there is a toolset to efficiently create a loupe effect or, if it's easier, the workflow on how to create a loupé effect in AD? Any assistance or help would be generously appreciated. Lawrence
  2. Hi I've got 2 copies of the same embedded document (svg) and i want to edit one of them but not the other. Currently when i open the embedded document (double clicking within the designer project) and edit it all edits get applied to both. Is there a way to seperate them? Thanks Emma
  3. Hi I want to create an SVG for a cutting machine. The file contains text (which has been converted to curves for exporting) and, to make the cutting easier, it is recommended to add a little 'padding' around the text area. The Affinity Help pages actually cover this: The Cricut Design Space app will push all layers within your document to the edge of the material when cutting. Again, this is to prevent material wastage. If you would like to add padding around your document, you can add a Rectangle Layer around your Curve Layers before merging all Curves into one layer Sadly, I cannot work out how to actually do it. I have managed to put some padding around the text by making a rectangle and dragging the text into it on the layers panel (presumably this is the rectangle layer). If I click on the rectangle, Create Compound is not selectable. If I Create Compound using only the letters (now curves), then the padding from the rectangle is ignored. I could do with a helping hand please.

  11. I'm having some serious problems with my Affinity suite, and I'm starting to suspect that one, or all of them might in fact be causing this problem (which only seems to manifest when an Affinity app - Publisher being my main suspect, is running). Symptom: on waking the displays of a triple display system, in which there is a single space for all displays (menubar on only one monitor), on some occasions one display will fail to register until the login password is entered. While most apps cope with this fine, Affinity apps can't seem to handle it, and shift their documents over to a space centring on the remaining two displays, as well as all their palettes, some of which will then be unable to be moved back, because their one drag point - their titlebar, is now outside of the screen bounds. It's making the apps pretty unusable, and like I said, most other apps don't seem to be effected by it - windows that were on the "missing" screen stay on it when it shows back up again - Affinity, and iTunes seem to be the only apps that show any evidence that the problem even occurred. Screenshots of the aftermath included. If we had a working (the beta versions of it don't work as they should) option to Save Workspace that locked the palette arrangements, when saved, so that they could be reset by reselecting it from the menu, that might at least mitigate the problem.

  14. Create 2 color Glyphs and fonts Affinity Photo & Affinity Designer tutorial. Here’s a trick to create a two color glyph or font in both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. It can even follow a path in Designer. https://youtu.be/FoqFwikwM1A
  15. When I export a design like the attached image to svg and open it in another applications I see the paths but the stroke information not there. This is for vinyl cutting so only edges matter. I guess what I'm asking is how to turn a path with a stroke into two paths, inside and outside edges. There is clearly something I'm not understanding here, please bear with me.
  16. So I'm reaching the point of delivering work to the client and need to export to a different drive. I just changed the parent path in a bunch of files and clicked Export Slices and promptly found a new folder called "D" which contained all the exports. I was trying to export to "D:\Dropbox\..." and found the new folder contained a subfolder called Dropbox. On closer examination I find that the path in the parameters section of the slices wasn't as I'd entered it. The colon after the drive letter was omitted. As this was a copy and paste step I knew that it had been entered correctly. After a bit of searching on here I find that this has been discussed before but no resolution proposed. From a UI/UX perspective I've always believed that code should never change the data that a user enters without letting them know that it has happened and why. In other instances this edit box changes the text to red when things aren't quite right but doesn't prevent the text being entered - although still doesn't explain why. e.g. A full stop/period (or two) in Windows is a valid (relative) path. I know I could use links to make this work but I really shouldn't have to. I'm guessing that this is a problem due to the Mac centric development of the application where colons are outlawed in file and pathnames. I'm hoping that because this has been raised before that it is on the roadmap (although I can no longer find that to check). Any chance of any feedback on whether this is likely to be addressed?
  17. This is a recently completed commission, which was fantastically enjoyable to undertake. Frankentoon’ s Texturiser Brush Set was a great help In creating the patina of the leather and the cushion fabric,, and Gagatka’s fur brush set really helped in creating the texture of the throw over the back of the chair. Otherwise, the smudge tool in pixel persona was essential in creating the sheen of the dog’s fur.
  18. Albatross Sky. I have always wanted to try my hand on a Albatros DV, but the difficulty of the lozenge camouflage put me off, but seeing that I have time on my hands right now I though: "why not?" To say that there are a few layers is an understatement, I stopped counting somewhere between four and five hundred. I am however quite pleased with finding a way to create woodgrain without a chrome filter
  19. I love using affinity designer on my iPad! I do animation on my iPad. Like flipaclip which I think is the best animation software on the iPad for the sake of adding video and audio and drawing over them frame by frame! but it’s not a vector based animation app like adobe animate. Which I need a vector based animation, I was wondering if there will be a future application? Oooorrrr adding a frame by frame timeline to affinity designer! Which would be amazing toooooo!!!!!!
