  1. My main complicated drawings are taking ages so I thought I would work on a few easier ones at the same time. This is the first to be finished. For me Gulf Racing is the most iconic colour scheme in motor racing and I’ve been meaning to do a 917 but never got around to it until now. Unsurprisingly there aren’t a whole lot of overhead shots of it so this was based on photos of the 1:8 scale die cast model by Amalgam Collection. Very high end, about £10k but bespoke can apparently cost up to £120k. Not something to let the kids play with. On the Porsche 917K’s public debut at the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours, John Wyer's Gulf-sponsored team finished 1-2 in the race. The winning number 2 car driven by Pedro Rodríguez, Leo Kinnunen and Brian Redman broke the distance record by 190 miles.
  2. Hello Designer! Check out my Affinity Designer Tutorial on how to use the corner tool and corner type with lots of tips along the way. Hope this helps
  3. I got a text that I want to curve by itself, and a circular icon in SVG and PNG format. In both I tried to position the frame text tool to make the text curve and write curve text in the circular icon. I also tried to right click to convert to curves (ctrl-return). And lastly tried Layer then convert to curves. None worked. How do you make curve texts in this situation? I'm primarily using Affinity Designer.
  4. Hello, I bought Affinity Designer (Windows version) today and unfortunately I can't install the program. I have already tried all the methods described in the forum (system restart, run as admin etc.), but nothing helps. My Windows 10 (x64) is updated to newest version, NET framework 4.8 installed etc. My system meets all the requirements. I downloaded Installer file few times (in Chrome and Firefox) and problem is same - installer doesn't start. I tried this method the Affinity installer window not showing FAQ but it didn't help. I've never had any Affinity program installed on my laptop before. In my "Temp/AffinitySetup" folder I only have Setup.log files and no SetupUI.log files. My Setup.log file: Please let me know if You need more information. Regards, Bart
  5. Hello, I am interested in chrome art. Can anyone point me to tutorials or help me find information. Thanks.
  6. Hi, Entirely made with vectors in AD. I usually don't draw with vectire, since if find it more time consuming that what I would have done when using brushes and paint. It's not what I would have usually done, but I thought it was done in a modern way, like some Middle Age art can be, and I'm fond of this era. And it seems easy. The fun part is that I kept the more difficult, the writing on the scroll for the end, since it appears the more difficult, and it wasn't until I begin to read the text that I understand that it was in French and certainly some contemporary art! I wish I could have use such a detailed version — or the original document—instead of the low resolution one I had to use in a document at work (no time to draw it before printing, alas!). Original: It seems I can't upload larger files.
  7. Hello! I find it very difficult to see which layer I selected with all artboards already "highlighted"... Is there a way to turn off automatic highlighting of artboards? Or augment the contrast between artboards and selected layers? Thanks!
  8. I have a single stroke making a word in cursive. The sections of lines that overlap merge into a single flattened shape when I expand. I would like for the stroke to be expanded as just the path or in sections so I can make the stroke appear to be weaving. (Images: 1.Stroke, 2.Expanded Stroke, 3.Output if stroke were consistent with path, 4.Output if stroke expanded in sections)
  9. Hi, I am wondering if there is a Problem Opening a vektor EPS that I bought from a stock library, it seems to be displayed completely off. Any idea anyone? I have attached a screenshot from Designer with the weird appearance and the original JPG corresponding to the EPS that I purchased. Thanks a lot, Christian
  10. Hey! I hope it reaches someone from Serif. My point is that for a lot of us who exclusively use the Affinity Suite, there are such small things that when you need them, they seem like a pain in the ass. Today's example is the option to hyperlink text in Affinity Designer. It bothers specially since I've found other people asking for it even in 2016! So that'd be my request... That we do not end 2020 without the option to be able to hyperlink text in AD. Thanks.
  11. How do you make text transparent so the background will show through using Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher?
  12. Something different from what I usually do in Affinity Designer. Background is transparent for possible T-shirt print. More info about this image in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2020/05/fire-fish-graphic-vector-drawing.html
  13. Hi there, first off just wanna say I love Affinity Designer. Its truly a great tool and I use it for everything ✌️ I've run into a performance issue and i'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve it. It seems that every time I have a vector object with more than ~20 points the CPU usage spikes through the roof when manipulating a curve. It chills out after releasing it, but it can be quite annoying. I've looked into a few other performance forum posts and have set the view quality to 'Nearest Neighbor' & i've increased the RAM usage limit. My renderer is a 1080ti, but since it seems the CPU usage is spiking that seems to be the problem. I have an Intel i5, so not the best, but I dont really run into bottlenecks like this with any other programs like After Effects or various games. Are there any solutions to improve here outside of just getting a newer processor? If there is any other info I can provide to help out just let me know! Thanks again for making this awesome program, i've been using it for years now and it just keeps getting better. 2020-05-15_21-06-18_Trim.mp4
  14. Hi, I was wondering if there is any solution for my problem. I am using Affinity Designer for creating documents for my clients, all of them are based on few templates. I have at least two artboards in each template and I export them to two filetypes - jpg and pdf. Here is my workflow: I am opening last saved document of some kind - e.g. document-1005, then I am editing it with new data and then I am saving it as document-1006. Then I am exporting (ctrl alt shift s) each artboard as jpg and pdf - because filename of Affinity Designer file is kept - its all easy for me to keep filenames constant (I have in one plce files document-1005.pdf, document-1005.jpg, document-1005.afdesign). What would be perfect for me is to use slices to export. Right now if I choose slices - I would need to change slices name everytime when exporting them. I am looking for some simple solution like what I created in Photoshop. Simple java script - it can create subfolders (when I need) and/or save file as jpg/png/psd with prefix or suffix added to original filename. Is it possible in any way? Regards, triforcesolutions
  15. Hello there, I don't really know why, but since yesterday the curve tool has been refusing to go all the way along any lines I create: Under Normal circumstances the red dot would be found in the corner of the frame but here it won't extend beyond the point shown. Any idea what is causing this? Cheers! Asterhysk
  16. Thor’s Axe. This is my Swedish made Hagstrom Viking. It’s a vector drawing done with affinity designer on my Mac. If it wasn’t for the shutdown I’d never have done it. This is the kind of stuff I've been killing time with. Bet you didn’t know that Thor had more than a hammer.
  17. Hello! I had this problem at least twice now, and want to report it. When using the brush repeatedly, while having pen pressure on, affinity designer freezes and crashes, after a few quick brush strokes. I tried it without the pen pressure and it works fine without it, i think. Only setting I have changes i that I disabled Windows Ink inside of Affinity Designer and on my tablet. I don't have any issues with pen pressure on Affinity Photo, so I personally think the vector brush tool in Affinity Designer with pressure sensitivity ON is just bugged. Hope you can reproduce this problem and fix it. Thanks for your time and patience! Extra Specs, just for good measure: GPU: RX Vega 56 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Graphics Tablet: Huion Inspiroy 950P. RAM: 16 GB of something. affinitybrushbug.mp4
  18. I'm trying to look for an angled/tilted brush for hand writing with my pen tablet. I know it sounds extremely simple – it's one of the default brushes on Adobe Illustrator – but I can't seem to find it on Affinity Designer. Everything is rounded... Some taper off a the ends. But none are actually angled. Please help!
  19. Vector portrait of Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut in 'Breaking Bad.' Still a work in progress at this stage (May 14 2020). Update sequence in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2020/05/vector-portrait-of-mike-ehrmantraut.html
  20. I see that all Alignment options are greyed out in version 1.8.1. In this case i'm trying to align the text to the margin.
  21. Its an app trying to save honey bees. Having fun with it.
  22. Hello Affinity, With the help of @Old Bruce I managed to copy circles on a path, and align the circles using the text tool. It is not as user-friendly to modify the space of the circles using the characters tracking. It is like a sort of a hack way to aligning shapes to paths. I thought it would be nice to add a separate feature for aligning shapes on paths. Also add the pattern feature too, so we don't manually repeat patterns. I know I ask too much but you guys are awesome. Thank you, text-path-align.afdesign
  23. Please add the ability to add pure vector based vector brushes based on vector objects for texture instead of PNGs. For now we can only add pixel based vector brushes. Being able to add pure vector brushes based on vector objects would allow us to create vector based textures and designs, which would be much easier to handle for any kind of (print) production. For example I tried to separate the colours to a spot colour PDF for screen print from this awesome work by Pierre Kleinhouse made for the Affinity Work from home series https://youtu.be/lL6gc8Oi2uw .afdesign file on DropBox: https://affin.co/LD2020PierreKleinhouse It was sort of a nightmare. I couldn't find a way to create a vector based spray texture within the Affinity Suite like in the second screen shot with the chimney. Expand stroke, working with spot colours, working with boolean operations ... a lot would be easier.
  24. Hi, I made an Affinity Designer asset that contains Social and others logos. You are free to use this logos. SocialAndOthers.afassets
