Export in the wrong size

Hello everyone, I would like to create electronic components for my projects (Arduino) so that I can use them in a software program. To do this, the external dimensions must fit. I have already created it in Affinity Designer and have external dimensions of 20x25mm. After exporting as SVG, whether as a document, as an artboard or as a slice, I always have different dimensions afterwards. Even when I open it again in Affinity, my original 20mm becomes something around 80mm. Can any of you help me how to export such files correctly? Iam also interested in whether it is possible to automatically adapt an artboard or a slice to a selection. I have to leave the layers as they are for the software to export and not group them. This means that slicing, for example, does not work properly. I will be grateful for any tips. Many thanks in advance and best regards from Germany 🙂. -
I really like the freehand vector pencil tool in Designer, but there are some thing that are a bit annoying and could improved imo. 1. Auto close was added in 2.0, but I find that in most cases it is not very useful. I would rather have the ability to close a path when the starting and end point are at a specified distance from eachother, say 10 points. This would allow me to use sculpt mode AND create closed paths, which is not possible right now. 2. Set smoothing factor: I would like the ability to set the accuracy of the stroke I draw, from very raw input with a lot of accuracy to a more smoothed out line. 3. Related to the previous point is the problem I have with zooming and pencil accuracy. The more zoomed out you are, the less accurate/more smoothed out the path becomes. I wish for a general smoothness regardless of zoom level. 4. I would love the integration of a Path eraser, that would be able to cut lines up to an intersection. This is possible using the Shapebuilder tool right now, so the code is there, but having it integrated in the Pencil tool and available with a shortcut would make it much more intitive and fast. This would probably require an option to keep all drawn paths selected.- 11 replies

I want to use Pen mode and quickly and easily deselect when I am done drawing a curve so ,I can start to draw the next curve. In select mode one can tap the screen but in Pen Mode that just continues the curve.

There are lines on borders of shapes. There is no stroke on objects. I know that I can turn off anti-aliasing, but then shapes are rough. These lines are visible even after exporting to raster or vector. I had this problem even in V1. I didn't find on Forum other solution than anti-aliasing. Is there any way to get rid of these lines without manually cover tens of these coffee beans by other whole shapes? (It is a pattern so I can't use whole beans. I can't add them together too, because most of them disappearing.) It is really annoying...

Some of my Group icons in designer's layers panel have a round dot within them. Some others do not. What is the difference? Thank you!

Is there any logic to the order in which a group of files are opened in AD and AP. I have a group of seven files called, 1.png, 2.png ... 7.png. If I select all from the finder and open them in either AD or AP they always open in a different order, i.e. the order of the file tabs reading from left to right when open in AD and AP is different each time they are opened with the exception of the last file which always appears as 7.png. These are the results showing the tab order in AD and AP when selecting all seven files in the finder and then right-clicking and selecting Open With. It's not a real issue and doesn't really cause any problems though it would be helpful if they opened either in the order they were selected or alphabetically.

Immediately after updating to 2.4.1 (and continuing through an update to 2.4.2), Affinity Designer (EDIT: And Affinity Publisher!) is stalling after I open it. I cannot open any file or create a new file. The dialog box for creating a new file still functions, but once I press CREATE, nothing happens. Nothing will open, but it's using a lot of processing power (CPU at 25%). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, and that made no difference. Other than updating, the only recent changes I've made that might affect Affinity Designer is installing multiple new fonts on my system. -

Hi, On Mac Monterey, Designer and Photo 2.4.1 don't show newly opened or created documents, after you have closed the background window. 1. Close all the document windows. 2. Close the blank, background window, to avoid it to block seeing everything that is on the back in the other apps. 3. Crete or open a new document. No window can be seen in Photo or Designer. The documents are there, since when closing the app you are asked if you want to save them, but you can't see them. To start seeing documents again, you have to relaunch the app. Paolo (who would like some more love for the Apple UI guidelines ) -
How do you create different grids in Affinity without doing things ridiculously hard? I'm not talking about the grid in the background. Yes, I know the hard way of doing it, but there's got to be a much easier way. I like to make a grid and then use a combine tool, which I guess is "Shape builder tool" in Affinity, to make logos. I attached a picture of some of the different grid types if you don't know what I'm talking about. How about an easier way to make/have Fibonacci squares/spiral/Circles aka golden ration squares/spiral/Circles? Anyone know how to do that in the least painful possible way? If you know a process let me know and if you know a process on the iPad app too (if it's different) on how to do it there too. I much prefer Affinity's pen tool and ability to quickly add and delete nodes and bend existing strokes as I trace over things to what illustrator offers. that said... Is there a way to pull in one of the two handles of a node to the center of the node so the stroke on that side makes a hard point and the other side of the node still has a handle that can be manipulated? Basically i want to be able to create a hard stop of a stroke at a node point and then bend and curve the stroke after that hard stop. In Illustrator, I could just grab one of the handles and pull it in to the node and it would snap in and disappear. Right now the workaround I use in Affinity Designer is to select the node and use the "sharp" convert option at the top of the screen and then using the node tool, pull on the stroke further along to re-bend it. Dear Team/Participants I have recently started having startup or loading issues in regarding to both Affinity Photo and Designer, which previously was loading fine. I have followed many forum advise from the net. But to no avail and that’s why I have jointed this group for the first time. I have tried to find solutions through this forum, but found it overwhelming as a beginner on this site. Please advise on other possible solutions other than double tapping with a single finger for the reset mode list. Cuz I have tried different combinations of resets that’s listed. Kind Ragard Edgar

I am new to Affinity designer and am strugling to get used to it. I am trying to export a floorplan to pdf but the corners on the straight lines are missing in the pdf file. (i've attached a copy of the pdf and screen print from affinity). The lines were originally individually drawn. I then tried ?snapping where I stopped changed direction and carried on. Neither resolved the problem. I've also watched an old Affinity video for drawing plans. I couldn't find a solution. There is a red line around the outside of the walls. I tried deleting them and re exporting but got the same result. Is there a way around this? RdSap plan 1st.pdf

Hi When I look for a typo sometimes affinity gets stuck on the color wheel, I need to force quit the application, then lost my work and my time. But the biggest issue is Affinity designer get totally lost after that looking for a License... I need to come here see if there is a solution, I think I try to disable all my fronts to relaunch but its really lot of time lost. Don't know what your software is checking but blocking the starting I not a good idea, I need to work. Please can you fix this issue Its not the first time happen. I am on M3Pro with the last infinity update I use standard Google Font activabled by Typeface, Thanks
